- Sound quality is very poor. Dialog not much better. This should be called rip off.
- dissappointed....he mumbles and rambles alot. saw mr. dyer in person at an expo a few months back and was also dissappointed. this audio cd "is" one of his older works...didn't get anything out of it. unfortunately, i can't give it a no star rating.
- I recently just received this CD and I have listented to it in my car about 6 times trying to understand all that Wayne has to say. Since this information is back from the 1993 I can actually see how far we have come as a spiritual nation we have a lot more positive thinkers out there. I think the CD is timeless and thank GOD for Wayne Dyer and all the other power spiritual teachers we have today. We will all better off for their enlighnment.
- I HAVE LISTENED TO THIS CD OVER AND OVER, AND I HAVE SENT COPIES TO MY CHILDREN AND FRIENDS.. A MUST HEAR CD.. POWERFUL...
- Wayne Dyer is a fantastic author and an asset to humanity. This CD helps anyone who is trying to break away from a day-to-day humdrum life and find greater meaning.

5 comments about The Quarterlifer's Companion: How to Get on the Right Career Path, Control Your Finances, and FInd the Support Network You Need to Thrive.
- This book is put together very well, and is the perfect response to the most commonly heard complaint about the first Quarterlife Crisis book...that being that the problems of the current crop of young adults were laid out well, but no solutions were offered. Think of the first book as an introduction - identifying the phenomenon - and this volume as a Part II that tells in a very user-friendly way how to approach the challenges that loom ahead. Wilner and Stocker clearly spent a good deal of time researching and obtaining firsthand experiences and information from a cross section of the book's intended audience, and this research shows in the practical advice found within the pages of this workbook/resource.
- Every college graduate can use a roadmap to life in the real world, but up until now, we've had to rely on vague advice for our parents and older friends. This exceptional book, which addresses everything from figuring out insurance, building lasting friendships post-school, and staying healthy despite the craziness, is one that every twenty-something should read twice. Chock full of expert, insider tips and fun, sometimes quirky exercises, The Quarterlifer's Companion uses a unique approach that's hands on, without a drop of preachiness.
- This was a good book to read for anyone in the 20's and for those who are not as well.
There are some good questions brought up about career choices, and things you can ask yourself about your current situation. I also find that the book put a little perspective on the work world as well.
The format is laid out so you can flip to a certain section even after you've read the book for a quick reference.
You can definetly tell it was written by two women, and it shines through in the examples used in the book. Although it appeals to both sexes, women I'm sure will relate more.
- This book is well written, and YES, sure it does contain alot of very common sense, but sometimes its the kind of of common sense you don't really know until someone tells you and then you go "Oh yes". I have my copy highlighted and tabbed and I use it for reference. The writers are right in the fact that things are very different, our parents don't understand why things aren't happening for us as fast they happened for them. I recommend this book for anyone. This new phenomenon known as the quarter life crisis doesn't really have any history to use as a guide. This book is very help, it is an easy read, and it isn't too preachy at all. Theres advice on Money, Jobs, Life, Play, Psyche, Health, Work and everything in between.
- If you are a 20-something walking day to day in a haze of confusion and cannot figure out what you want to do with your life and/or career, this book along with The Quarterlife Crisis are what I recommend! These books really help put my priorities into perspective, and helped me figure out what I want to do, and how to get there! I am now gung-ho into my career industry of choice, and getting by day to day at my current dead-end job is more manageable.
I carry this book with me in my portfolio, to give me help with networking and interviews.

5 comments about The Heart of a Woman.
- The heart of a woman was not an easy read for me, i just couldn't get into it, it did not grab my attention.
- I have just finished The Heart of a Woman and I could not put it down once I started it. Angelou lays bare for all of her readers her heart, her life and her truth. What an amazing life she has lived. I read some reviews that criticized her for her honesty in regards to whites during the 60s. It was the 60s, racial barriers where still up strong and bared anyone of color from living the lives they so richly deserved, why should she be criticized for this? Would it be better that she lied and said how wonderful life was for blacks in this country during that time? It wasn't and that is the point that she is making in this book. That is the point that she is making as an African American woman, called to the forefront in the battle of discrimination.
I had to look on the cover to see when she wrote this book, it was 1981, how sad that in 26yrs we still see white America carrying the flag of superiority! I am truly glad that Angelou is still walking this earth to see that though the gains for civil rights are slow coming they are coming, regardless of what her criticizers are saying. Because if they are criticizing her for telling it like it was, then there is still a long path to journey to get us beyond the need for civil rights.
If you want to know what the 60's Civil Rights movement & Aparthied in South Africa was about this book will give you an accurate picture of one womans involvement. Two thumbs up for Angelou!
- Another slice of Maya Angleou's memoir, The Heart of a Woman, brings you through her hardships of raising her son Guy in California and continues during her move to New York City, her stint in the Harlem Writers guild, her intimate involvement in the Civil Rights movement, her marriage to South African Freedom Fighter, Vusumzi Make and subsequent move to Egypt, Ghana and ultimate divorce. A book that will speak to men and women on all levels, The Heart of a Woman is truly a phenomenal read.
- i was so excited to get this book. it arrived fast and was in good condition. thank you
- Maya has such an impeccable method of penning and conveying her prose!! This was a wonderful installment in her biographical sequence(s). I recommend this book to ALL (those mature and aged enough to handle the sometimes-explicit subject matter) because it brings so many pieces of American history together in such a uniquely stated manner!

4 comments about Leave Your Mind Behind.
- This is a fun, little book that will help you free yourself from critical thoughts and judgments. Of course, we can't stop our thoughts, no matter how hard we try, but we can learn to unhook from our thoughts, observe them, and then choose which ones we're going to follow -- if any! "Leave Your Mind Behind" offers fun, practical exercises with titles such as, "What world are your thoughts making?", "The chocolate thought", and "Rainy day acceptance". It was both entertaining and enlightening.
- This book is divided into 3 sections:
Part I: What do you think?
Part II: What do your thoughts do to your life?
Part III: Stop Believing Everything you think.
The first section explains the 7 different types of thoughts that cross our minds. Then author goes on to explain how to identify and watch these thoughts, understand how each thought can help or hurt you and then choose the "right" thought as you move forward. The more you know about your thoughts and your "chattering" mind, the less your mind will control your moods and your life. "Thin" book - quick read - lot's of practical advice. Worth your time...
- Five Good Minutes: 100 Morning Practices To Help You Stay Calm & Focused All Day Long
The fun (and humorous and playful and practical) exercises in this book make me think of the bumper sticker that reads, "Don't believe everything you think!" This book was especially helpful in reminding me that there's no need to get caught up in my thoughts or to think that they define who I am. "I'm fat, lazy and a bad friend," are just thoughts, not who I am. The authors offer great ways for facing these types of thoughts, such as singing the thought to the tune of "Happy birthday," or "Home on the Range" (Songs and Silly Voices). I liked how so many of the exercises helped me gain a little distance from certain thoughts by helping me recognize what types of thoughts they are (Bossy Thoughts, Pop Up Thoughts, Stale Bread, The Seducer). In a world where we take what we think so seriously, it's great to have this handy little book to help us laugh and even play with the thoughts that normally run us ragged. This is a book with a sense of humor and practical skills to help us accept and just watch thoughts without judging them or ourselves. Bravo!
- I have been reading Eckhart Tolle and recently become very aware that I am not my thoughts but that they are just like popups and are what the mind does. This book really brings clarity to the type of thoughts that one has and at the same time gives humorous and very profound ways to work with the thoughts that come up.
I totally love this book!!!

5 comments about The Depression Book: Depression as an Opportunity for Spiritual Growth.
- Refreshing to see depression as an opportunity. It is so hard in the midst to see the positive. Huber does a good job of providing both ways to cope and ways to change how we view depression.
- I really liked the book, it sums up depression and its compassionatley written. The author has been through this so you know she can relate and empathize with you, the reader.
- I got this book after going through a very bittersweet period of my life. I was intrigued when flipping through the book randomly and noticed the interesting style of text and the illustrations throughout the book. When I got home to read it I found it very easy to read and though I had been thinking about looking into zen/Buddhism the book doesn't push it but may give a slight introduction. After I told my therapist that I had this book she says that she owns it as well. I notice many similiarities in the book and her style of helping me through my journey. I would highly recommend this book. It certainly gives you an interesting dive into depression and the feelings surrounding it.
- I'm a psychologist. I've read a lot of information on how to "treat" depression. When I read Cheri Huber's book many years ago, it was my first experience with the idea that this isn't something to be fixed, but instead is something to experience, learn from, and hear as a message--STOP. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in the throes of depression, or anyone who is around someone else who is experiencing that difficult, challenging, rich state.
- In "The Depression Book," Cheri Huber utilizes her knowledge of the principles of Zen and especially Zazen (Zen meditation) to provide a straightforward (although neither 'simple' nor 'easy') message to readers in a format that is easy to follow and to read. I read this book over the course of an afternoon and found it full of helpful, commonsense, practical advice. There were a few passages that made me take offense, but as soon as I had this emotional reaction, I realized that I was only offended because the words were so true. The book is written from Huber to the reader (whoever she or he may be) as though sitting down over tea or chatting on the telephone. The illustrations and handwritten format make reading it a lark rather than another chore.
If you're depressed or have a tendency toward self-judgment, do yourself a favor and pick this book up. And practice the meditations it suggests. If nothing else, try the journaling prompts and recall its words of wisdom the next time you find yourself falling into despair. It's okay to feel what you feel and to think what you think. The more space you allow yourself, mentally, to be who you are, the more quickly you will find your feet turning toward feeling just a little better. It's not about solving anything or making anything go away. Huber reminds us that it is about being who you are.

5 comments about Combatting Cult Mind Control: The #1 Best-selling Guide to Protection, Rescue, and Recovery from Destructive Cults.
- Steve Hassan's Combatting Cult Mind Control is a compelling exegesis on the strategy and tactics of destructive cult groups and extremist movements. It also introduces a therapeutic method for bringing aid to cult victims and their families which is accessible, rational and encouraging.
Steve's command of cult practices, his extensive knowledge of sound therapeutic practice and his voluminious clinical experience make him
an excellent guide into the world of high pressure groups.
I highly recommend this book to former cult members, relatives of cult members and to therapists, counselors and social workers.
Allen Wood former chief political officer of the " Moonies" and
author of MoonStruck: A Memoir of my life in a Cult
- EXCELLENT book. A must read for anyone who has ever been involved in a cult, knows someone who has been involved in a cult, or is just curious about cults in general. This book provides a fascinating and freeing look into the world of destructive cults and cult mind control.
I recommend reading Hassan's "Releasing the Bonds" with this book. It contains more updated information. Both are extremely helpful for those who've been involved in cults. They are also full of necessary information for those who have lost family members or friends to cults, and want to help them.
Can't say enough about this book... definitely a life-changer!
- What I find deliciously ironic is how this book is endorsed by old Dr. "Jolly" West from UCLA. You know who I'm talking about, don't you? The CIA sponsored mind control specialist who has tortured and ruined numerous lives, all under the guise of research and National Security? How ironic... The fact of the matter is that the real perps within the World of Mind Control (who are high level government, military and alphabet agency people) need to point the finger somewhere in order to deflect attention from themselves. So cults like Scientology, Mormon Church, Process Church, and the various sects headed by people like Charles Manson, Jim Jones, David Koresch and others are offered up as the Bad Guys. And they really are bad most of the time, don't get me wrong, but my point is that they are directed, influenced, or even created by the above mentioned perps. As are the so-called Manchurian Candidates who assassinate well known people or groups of kids usually on campuses (which Dr. West was involved in for decades, along with Dr. Ewen Cameron). This is fact and easily researched, but there always has to be a misdirection of sorts when dealing with the spooks.
And along with brainwashing (which is much more high tech than attributed to any run-of-the-mill cults) comes pedophilia, drug running, and Satanic practice. Always. So in my opinion, this book offers some interesting advice, and at times probably helpful, but it is a total misdirection; so much so that it actually directs the victims and their families into the hands of the people who are behind the whole thing (ie. psychiatrists, therapists, and "others" with connections to the military, CIA or NSA). So the victim's stories never really get out, real therapy is not given, and justice is not served, but the perps get to cover their butts and carry on with all their diabolical agendas. MKUltra was the start of it all (or the "re-start" of it all more correctly...) and then it had to "fan out" after a few decades for cover, thus the cults were either created or infiltrated.
A great example is old L. Ron Hubbard. He was involved with Navy Intel (father was Navy also), he was very interested in Crowley and his Satanic principles, familiar with and advanced mind control techniques (Dianetics), greatly abused his family over many years, experimented with various drugs, created a cult for a variety of reasons (Scientology), became rich, powerful and involved in many dubious agendas. At the height of his power, Hubbard's ability to collect information on people and use that information for blackmail and other purposes rivaled that of J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI, with no exageration whatsoever. Scientology became and still is a quasi-intelligence / governmental sponsored "agency" that carries on a variety of heinous criminal activities, plain and simple. That creates excellent plausible deniability for the real bad guys.
So yes, bads guys and cults exist, but one must look behind the curtain to see who is pulling the strings. And knowing the puppet master will hopefully direct you into the hands of some real help and justice, which is not where this book would like you to go. Dr. West and his ilk will face the music sooner or later.
- As Hassan states in the beginning of this book, many people who have left cults never fully understand (and therefore, never fully recover from) what happened to them during those years of their lives. After reading this book, I have a much better understanding of what happened to me.
This book is a simple, and yet profound, explanation of what mind control or thought reform is all about. Hassan also explains how this enlightenment, along with "the other side of the story" regarding one's cult leader, are the two basic elements of exit counseling. He also provides lots of insights on the exit counseling process based upon his own fascinating experiences.
Although I was disappointed to discover that he does not give a clearer explanation of what it takes for someone to recover from a cult experience (which I have since found in other books), I thought Hassan does an excellent job of shedding light on the one evil he sets out to conquer: mind control.
- I met a an amazing girl in my Buisness class, ofcourse I asked her out to lunch several times, was always turned down, but I new something just didn't seem right. We got to be really good friends, and I found out she belonged to the Jehovah's witness Organzation. I knew nothing about the Religion, so i started to do some research, and was very intersted in what I found. I started talking on an Ex JW site, to ask for advice on what I should do, I really liked this girl, and I wanted to know what was it that made her so different from any other person I met.
Everyone told me JW was a cult, even after all the readings I did, I still hadn't made up my mind. A friend recomend I read this book, so I went ahead and orderd it. It took me a good 2 weeks to go through it, I would highlight anything I found to be of significance, cross refrence facts in the book with my Psychology TExt to check for credibility, and take notes on everything that seemed to ring a bell in my head.
I was amazed with how much this book describes how previlant occults are in our society, I came to find out I had almost fell for a Buisness Cult which I had no idea at the time was what I thought it was. This book really opend my mind, and gave me a solid foundation to help someone who has been iscolated from society, and had their individuality keep under lock and key.
I've learned so much from this book, and It has really gave me the confidance and the will to help someone out. I suggest that anyone who is about to go to college, would like to help somoene who is in a cult, or is just interested in the subject read this book, because it will outline so many things and tigh all the peices together.
Thankyou Steven for helping so many people out.
Ben

5 comments about Legacy : A Step-By-Step Guide to Writing Personal History.
- I taped 16 hours of memories using Spence's book to interview my 87 year old father. It was a wonderful way of connecting as he lived more in the past as he aged. He was delighted to have my full attention and I enjoyed hearing his life story. The book helped me to organize material for the interviews. Last year I transcribed, edited and published the memoir as a gift for his children and grandchildren. He had seen a draft of it before his death and was thrilled that his life was recorded for posterity.
- I am teaching a life history class for the first time and am using Linda Spence's book as part of my curriculum. She literally has hundreds and hundreds of questions to ask which can be a little daunting, but just remember to take only a few at a time and know that not all questions will pertain to you. In the end, the answers will give a lot of good information to your children or grandchildren that you can leave as is or refine in "book" form. This book is also good for audio or video testimonials as you can just answer the questions for a more informal feeling.
- This book is a step-by-step guide to writing your life's stories as a legacy for other family members. The author has worked with seniors for many years, gathering their stories and helping them document their life histories. In this book, she presents a simple methodology that anyone can follow to help them get over the hardest step in the process-getting started. In the introduction, she urges the reader to set aside some time and space for writing, in a notebook, on an audio cassette, on a typewriter, or on a computer, whichever is most comfortable and convenient. Then she provides lists of reflective questions to get the juices flowing. The questions are organized by topic, including earliest memories, school life, young adulthood, marriage, children, grandchildren, and later adult years. Interspersed with these questions are quotations from unknown as well as famous published memoirists whose writing illustrates the topic at hand.
Everybody has had life experiences which are fascinating, amazing, or potentially edifying for others. The trouble is, so few of these stories ever get passed on because it's so hard to actually sit down and write them. With this book, Spence makes the task seem easy. Writers can sit down with the book, open to a page at random, and begin writing responses to her prompts. Or they can begin with the first question and work methodically through the book. Each question can easily require an entire essay to answer in full. Once the individual essays start collecting, the raw material is ready to edit into a book. Or, the answers can simply be left as drafts in the writer's notebook to be passed on to others as a legacy. It should be noted that Spence's goal is to help readers to document their life histories in a positive way so as to create a product that can be passed on to other family members, rather than to explore negative memories as a means of self-growth. The book is not about style, grammar, or esthetic qualities of writing. Spence finds it more important for writers to use their own voices naturally rather than to adopt formal stylistic attributes. The book would make an excellent gift for older family members who have stories to tell but just haven't gotten around to writing them down yet.
- What were you like as a child? What did you think? What did you do?
Not many of us escape these questions from our children and grandchildren.
This wonderful book enables us to leave a legacy of memories and history for our descendants. It gives step by step instructions on how to write
a personal history. The process also brings back many memories and gives the writer a clearer picture of his/her life experiences. At 78 I hope I have enough time to finish my gift to my family. Wish I'd had this book 20 years ago.
- Spence has provided a tool for eliciting and recording family history with relative ease. Her book can become a catalyst for coaxing memories even from people who protest about recording their experiences or who lack confidence about their ability to remember. However many of the numerous helpful prompts you use, you will create a worthwhile legacy.

5 comments about Christian Caregiving: A Way of Life.
- The world needs people who care. This book is a practical manual for anyone who has ever felt uncomfortable comforting a friend or acquaintance.
Kenneth Haugk has written this book to address the real-life issues people confront when caring for others. Many find it easier to discuss sex than to discuss issues of their faith and religion. Even if we are comfortable sharing these matters, those with whom we deal may not be.
This practical, well-written book takes the reader beyond theories about the integration of psychology and theology. It strengthens and re-enforces your call to care for those about who you care.
- It is a must read for every Caregiver that is in the business or volunteering to help in the "Care Industry".
- I am a Stephen Ministeries Leader and this has proven to be a vaulable tool to use in our continuing education time of our meetings. WONDERFUL!!!
- This is an excellent book that we have used to teach Christian Care Giving in three churches. It also serves as a text book for the Stephens Ministry basic course. The book is good on its own, but works best when its contents are discussed in a class seting.
- A clear, concise explanation of best practices and pitfalls for those
who would offer caregiving in a compassionate and Christ-like way.
This is no sappy, do-gooder book... and it's no "fix-it" message
either.

2 comments about Getting Past the Pain Between Us: Healing and Reconciliation Without Compromise (Nonviolent Communication Guides).
- I absolutely love the title and idea of this book. I believe the concepts the author is trying to get across would be very helpful, too - if only I could read the darn thing. The format of this and his other book "Being Me, Loving You" is simply a description of what is happening on stage at one of his seminars and his dialogue with audience members. I find it very confusing. I've tried a handful of times to pick out what he's trying to say, but I'm finally donating this book to the library, where hopefully somebody else will find it more suiting to their needs than mine. I am still interested enough in the concept of NVC that I'm going to look for other books on the subject and maybe give his other book a try, if it' written in a different format. These two books, however, were a huge disappointment.
- This book helped me to deal with betrayal and abuse I suffered by the actions of family members and friends. It helped me to understand the path that was ahead of me for healing and helped to relieve me from blame, guilt and pain. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to get past the pain of offenses. I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ but I was unable to afford some of the Christian books. I am glad I found this book through Amazon I would recommend it to Christians, Muslims, Buddhist, etc...
Thank you Amazon and Thank you to Dr. Rosenburg
