5 comments about The Spontaneous Healing of Belief: Shattering the Paradigm of False Limits.
- I found this newer version to be a "part 2" of the book, "The Divine Matrix". The information seemed to repeat everything I learned in that book. That book, "The Diving Matrix", I found fascinating and very interesting. This newer one is a comparable read, but not if you're looking for newer information.
- Who would have thought that this technological age that we are in is as ancient as this world we live in. This book shows how "garbage in - garbage out" applies to our lives. Our lives (thoughts, emotions, etc) can be compared to a computer. Very interesting and informative.
- This book will be very helpful for some very specific people - those who find themselves having undesired negative emotions, but whose emotions aren't completely overwhelming. The exercises on understanding your conditioning and beliefs can be helpful and powerful, if you take them seriously.
That said, I think that's because the title is somewhat misleading because it implies that we can heal the idea of 'belief' itself. While that may be true, more than likely you will be left with a new set of "better" beliefs to replace the old ones.
Also, the authors' voice comes across as presumptuous at times as he compares our reality to that of a computer. He's so excited about his analogy, and so convinced, that his 'voice' doesn't leave the impression that there is room for the possibility that his model of reality might not be accurate.
The ending also left me unfulfilled and seems like it was thrown on there to get more pages into the book. The book's potentially reality-shattering and life-changing climax goes almost unnoticed because it is so subtle, and so the last part of the book feels like filler instead of really bringing the reader into a new awareness and state of being.
- This book is among Bruce Lipton, Dawson Church's work Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter, & MiraclesThe Genie in Your Genes: Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention and they all must be read IN RELATION to eachother. With my experience and investment of time and energy in this area of study, i have found that there is a lot more going on then just simply intending feeling and visualizing to manifest or spontaneously create reality.
Because quantum particles or energies are very subtle and reside in a lighter (finer) dimensions, its obviously logical that they may be better manipulated or instantaneously controlled by the powerful psychological entities (SOULS, Consciousness or whatever you like calling them) who reside at that level of FINER existence. There are so many resulting things we cant take into account or comprehend while we make personal wishes. Our larger self CAN! Plus our being here as a small self has a purpose... to see certain pains, to be in situations that call for resolve courage and strength etc. If i can do and manifest what i want only... i wouldn't want to experience a single BAD thing... and why should I ...would you? :-)
The story of our world is going to unfold and eventually we will know ourselves as we truly are... cause life (existence) can never remain in this UN-NATURAL state that we have created upon earth for very long... its transitory...
And actually this is a hard fact which we are becoming aware of more and more as our experience with science and spirituality is deepening. On the surface our minds like to think that we are the CO-Creators and what not? Yeah ...sure... But the truth is that things keep happening stubbornly in our world individually, locally and globally that we fail to control or manifest no matter how hard we meditate visualize or intend. The only thing i have seen working is honest surrender and letting GO! Not many people are ready for it. The good news is that for this dimension of existence we need to make an evolutionary JUMP or shift in our psychology and more importantly in our BIOLOGY (BRAIN) where that Veil one day is lifted (by changes happening in the structure of, and chemical composition of the brain) which stops our sensing and knowing of the connection to our larger infinite existence or Whole Self.
It is only from this finer level of Being that we can manipulate the subatomic world of the quantum (and we are doing so as a larger finer Self but not knowing as a small self here). Only when we (this small self) will reach that stage and BE quantum then it will be able to Move quantum to its desires and wishes. Till then we can enjoy reading about it and keep preparing our minds to evolve to that level where we can sense our Whole Being permanently and then probably something strange can begin to happen :)
Hope u do think about this perspective... and it might make sense too!
- It was sdo good that I came back and got the cd's too! Pay attention and it will change your life!

5 comments about After the Affair: Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has Been Unfaithful.
- After the Affair is the most balanced and helpful book I've read on the subject of affairs.
- It works at all stages. If you are trying to rebuild your marriage or just trying to rebuild yourself, read this book. The author helps you understand what you may be going through and how the other person may feel. I also strongly recommend the author's other book I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't
- This says it was an unabridged version. The product that was sent to me was clearly marked "abridged." I bought the book too so I noticed how much was cut out of the audiotape. Book is excellent. Too much was missing from the tape.
- As a marital therapist, I highly recommend this book for those who have gone through an affair!
- I read this as the betrayed spouse at the request of my husband (his counselor recommended it). I completely disagree with the author's statement that both partners must take the appropriate responsibility for the affair. I had absolutely nothing to do with the affair my husband choose to have. I do take 50% responsibility for the state of the marriage prior to the affair, but in no way am I responsible for my husband choosing to drop his pants with anonther (married) woman. I have been in the same marriage as my husband and I choose not to break my vows, why would I shoulder any responsibilty for the poor choice he made? Because of the author's opinion on "sharing the blame" I found it difficult to finish the book.

5 comments about Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
- This book is an interesting parable about life using a seagull's experience. It is a book of encouragement and I highly recommend it to those who are searching for faith.
- I received this book promptly and was able to do a last minute project I was unaware of! Thank You! Unbelievable price!
- Nice to read that again, reminded me of many happy hours spent during my student days, back in the 70's. The cover had changed slightly from what I remember...must be a re-issue...unless I remember the colours brighter, but the message is still the same. Well worth a read for anybody seeking direction.
- God they say is a process. JLS is a simple overview of the process. It shows the struggle to achieve oneness with the godself and having achieved it what to do with it. Do we stay in the oneness or elect to help other people find the path to this oneness.
JLS elects to go back and show others the way to the one. It is simply written but it illuminates a number of spritual truths one of course being -- IT IS A LONELY PATH HOME!!!
- I was born in late 1970s. And a full 15 years to read & write English fairly well. That makes it around 1991. I picked up this book at a used book store in India when I was 16 years old. I was able to read it in under 30 minutes. But from then onwards I've bought at least 3 copies of this book and have read it umpteen number of times.
The book had a huge impact in shaping my outlook to life, instilling and reinforcing my desire to be better at what I do [its quite another thing whether I was able to achieve it :)]. I guess its important that you have lofty goals. Aim for the stars may be you'll reach 100 feet into the air. May be you'll learn to fly - if not like Livingston Seagull - at least like his lousy flying brethern.
Along with Ayn Rand, I'd rate Bach's this work at the very top of what one should read in one's formative years.
I'm a Software Developer by profession and I at least once in a day think: It always works, when you know what you're doing.

5 comments about Blow Him Away: How to Give Him Mind-Blowing Oral Sex.
- This is all the stuff you learned in high school. Save your money and ask your partner what they enjoy!
- I know one needs to properly prepare for everything, but the exercise routines listed in this book are way too much to do and to remember. The last 10-15 pages were a little helpful, but not anything that I haven't heard before. I agree with the other reviewer...save your money and just set your pride aside and ask your partner what he likes!
- Everything you wanted to know but didn't know who or how to ask is answered in this book. Filled with hints and tips, you can't go wrong if you read the book and practice, practice, practice!!!
- This book takes you from oral hygiene to ectasy, or i should say your man's ectasy. Very well written instruction manual, very highly recommended.
- The techniques in this book would be a great addition to the repertoire of the novice or the more advanced. From a guys perspective, I'm not sure the exercises that make up a significant portion of the book are really useful. But, the male anatomy lesson is a good foundation followed by detailed step-by-step basic and advanced techniques, methods and tips that are definitely dead-on. If you use just a few of this each time with your guy he will be blown away.....

5 comments about Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience.
- Interesting book, explains how and why you are the way you act! Difficult to understand some times.
- I first discovered the concept of flow several years ago when
I was working at home on a grievance matter that I was
handling for my teacher's union . . . all of a sudden, I was
interrupted by a call from my massage therapist . . . she
was asking why I wasn't in her office for my appointment.
Now massages are one of the things I REALLY look forward
to . . . yet I had been so "into" what I was doing that the
appointment completely skipped my mind.
Sometime thereafter, I became acquainted with the work
of esteemed psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and his
work on this subject . . . so when I just got the chance to hear
FLOW: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF OPTIMAL EXPERIENCE--written
by and featuring the author--I jumped at the opportunity to learn
even more.
And learn I did in this fascinating book . . . most of all, I became
acquainted with the following major components of the flow experience:
* There's clarity of goals.
* Feedback is immediate. You know moment-by-moment how well
you're doing.
* The challenges of the activity are matched with the skills of the person.
* There's a feeling of focus on what you're doing.
* Everyday frustrations are removed from your attention.
* You feel that you can be control of your life.
* You also lose a sense of self-consciousness.
* And as I previously observed, a sense of time is transformed.
- One of my very favorite books.
Written for a popular audience, the author describes the fascinating results of his academic career of researching exactly what makes people happy.
His findings are surprising. Most people don't know what makes them happy. For example, most people don't realize that they are happiest at work or why; they believe they would be happier with more leisure time. I found most facsinating the studies of people who had lost limbs. The book explains why, although parapalegics would rather still have their limbs, for many, the loss of their limbs actually made them happier.
The ideas presented explain why so many people are unhappy when enjoying historically unprecedented levels of physical comfort. The book is also uplifting in that it points out that we truly can be happy in any situation.
Although the book does ramble at times, this is one of the best books I have ever read. I am more than willing to put up with less than perfect writing to gain the remarkable insights that are clearly laid out in the book. Not surprisingly, the book does not provide a recipe to make you happy. But it does provide general concepts that can be applied to your particular situation and preferences.
- A good self help book that will help the reader to understand and order consciousness. The reader is taught how to cope with everday challenges and chaos. The book explains that we must not be sad, angry, worried, ect., despite events that occur outside of our control. Rather, we can learn to accept unwanted events and choose to feel happy, productive, or calm despite those obstacles.
And I think the author would agree that, it is illogical to believe that sadness, anger, worry, fear, loneliness and many other emotions MUST be disordered and avoided. Suffering is part of life and cannot/should not be avoided. An emotion need not be wrong or eliminated from consciousness simply because it is unwanted.
Certain injustices that occur in this world cause many of us to experience a lifetime of deep sadness and suffering. And despite the ability we may have to be productive and happy by means of flow experiences, we must understand that unwanted emotions are healthy and very normal. Unwanted emotions such as anger and sadness help us to realize injustice. If we did not experience anger/sadness in the face of injustice, we would cease being human.
- Besides having more vowels in his name than any other researcher in the field of positive psychology, Mihály Csíkszentmihályi is probably best known for his book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience. So what exactlty is flow and what does it have to do with finding happiness?
There are short and long ways to define the concept of flow. The short way is to tell you that flow is roughly the equivalent to what most people refer to as being "in the zone" or "in the groove". More elaborate definitions might be that it is "the state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter; the experience itself is so enjoyable that people do it even at great cost, for the sheer state of doing it."
Being such a desirable state, flow is naturally linked to happiness. The book feels that the path to happiness is a circuitous one that begins with one achieving control over the "contents of our consciousness". I'm taking that to mean that if I learn to find flow experiences, it will lead to greater happiness.
Know from the get-go that "Flow" is NOT a step-by-step book that gives you tips on how to be happy. Instead, the book summarizes years of research, so what you get when all is said and done, are general principles along with examples of how people have used them to transform their lives. The hope, then, is that you will have enough information in the book to make the transition from principles and theory, to actual practice.
In a nutshell, Flow is a unique and interesting book that examines the process of achieving happiness through the control of one's inner life. I didn't find it as easy to read as some books written by academic individuals, such as David Myer's The Pursuit of Happiness: Discovering the Pathway to Fulfillment, Well-Being, and Enduring Personal Joy, but it's definitely a "digestable" read for the general audience.
I'll tell you, though, after reading a lot of positive psychology books, you start to see some common threads. In "Flow", one of the conditions that makes flow occur is that you have a clear goal. And in the book Finding Happiness in a Frustrating World, it reveals that one proven way to increase long-term happiness (according to controlled trials cited in the book) is to set intrinsic/self-concordant goals. With much happiness research coming to similar conclusions, perhaps an important take-home message is this: the kinds of things we choose to spend our time on can have a HUGE impact on how happy we are. Happy trails!

5 comments about Awaken the Giant Within : How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!.
- This CD was delivered to me in just one day via Amazon Prime Shipping (free shipping). I really like the CD and I listen to it in my car whenever I want to. I like how it summarizes all that Anthony Robbins talks about. I'm also reading a book called Unlimited Power from him, and he talks about some points that he makes in the book on this CD as well. This is a good inspirational CD and motivates you to take control of your life, realize your true worth, and guides you in the steps you should do to get there.
- I've owned this book for at least ten years now; and despite all the fads and phases that the self-help world has gone through (and continues to go through), Tony Robbins's "Awaken the Giant Within" is the one book that I always finding myself going back to again and again.
What appeals to me most about Tony's approach is that he is rooted in reality. So much self-help these days is new age cultism (or religious fundamentalism) re-packaged as "practical" guides to success. They are nothing of the sort, because they rely on FAITH--and not the faith of putting in your best and staying positive, but the religious sort of faith which says "blindfold me and I have faith that I'll SOMEHOW reach my destination." If you want to read about that kind of faith, go to the RELIGION section, please.
Tony, on the other hand, gives you truly practical techniques that go right to the core of the matter and come from REAL LIFE--not some mysterious, esoteric "laws of the universe" communicated by some otherworldly intelligence.
Being an American I know that, given the economic situation right now in my country, my fellow citizens need all the PRACTICAL advice they can get to stay successful or at least provide the basic needs for their families. Having false hope in "the Law of Attraction" or nonsense as "just think and it arrives", which is all the rage in self-help movements these days, is only making things WORSE. Just when Americans need to do much more REALISTIC planning take massive ACTION to turn our economy around, they are being encouraged to sit on a pillow and just think good thoughts. Please!
So thank you, Tony, for ten years (and counting) of being my best coach and keeping me rooted in the real world. You help me "keep it real" and inspire me to truly awaken the giant within.
- Being an author myself, I cannot agree more with Anthony about the magnificent force of Passion. Thank you Anthony for mastering this power in all of us and inspiring millions with it.
- Anthony Robbins spent a great deal of time and energy convincing people that they could break out of the stupor of their lives and reconnect with their dreams. When I first read the book I was homeless, living with friends and suffering from a directionless depression. NLP and NAC are not cure-alls for our psychological ills but giving our problems an honest focus can make a huge difference towards solving them. I didn't transform into an overnight success, it still took many years for me to become balanced and many more to become focused on my career. It takes more than one book to change a persons life but Tony created a great place to start.
- I was homeless, unemployed, a drunk & drug addict, smoked 3 packs a day, broke, hadn't been with the oposite sex for 3 years, uneducated,no drivers license, no car, and hopeless.
I read this book and today I am a sucessful attorney. I don't smoke and I live in my dream house, haven't done drugs or drank in over 14 years, and spend my time with beautiful women. I am a published author, I have tons of friends. I can't praise tony enough.
Apply the princples of this book and you will have anything you want from happiness to success. Period.

5 comments about Life Is a Verb: 37 Days to Wake Up, Be Mindful, and Live Intentionally.
- I have read Patti Digh's blog for a long time. She is an amazing writer and this is an amazing book. She will move you, amuse you and make you think and feel and love. She will make you remember that you are alive and need to get busy living and loving - yourself and the world around you. Life is short. If you do one thing for yourself, read this book. I have bought several copies already as gifts for friends. Buy one for yourself today!
- I've been reading Patti Digh's blog for a couple of years now. I've also had the pleasure to hire her to facilitate a diversity training. She truly lives what she writes. She is one of the most thoughtful and thought-provoking people I've ever had the opportunity to meet. Her book features stories from her blog that describe moments in her life (co-starring a varied cast of family members, strangers, co-workers, and others whom she has encountered on her life's journey) in which the importance of being mindful, and living intentionally has crystallized for her...and generously, she shares those moments with her readers in a way that is breathtaking in its kindness. Her book is at times hilarious, deeply touching, and always, always meaningful. The artwork that is included is the most beautiful ever - as it was created by Patti's readers - true gifts of the heart. I've already bought 4 copies to share with friends, who have bought more copies to share with their friends and relatives. Definitely a must-buy and a must-share.
- Get this book. For a lot of reasons. It will resonate with your Muse's soul; it will encourage you, it will make you weep. You will laugh out loud; you will ponder. Your inner critic will natter at you about pickly (that's a combination of picky and prickly, by the way - I made that up) little truths that your rational mind doesn't quite want to grasp. You will love the art; you will love the stories. And your heart will be a little bit healed.
- Writing has been my form of reflection for a long time, whether in a journal, a poem or a personal essay. Patti Digh has written her reflections as personal essays on an award-winning blog. Those essays have now been published as Life is a Verb. This is a book to be savored. It deserves careful attention. And so do you. You don't have to switch religions, change your spiritual practices or go on a pilgrimage to a far-off land. Patti Digh's advice is to pay attention right here at home.
In 2003, Digh's stepfather was diagnosed with lung cancer and died 37 days later. After caring for him at his home and following his death, Digh wondered what she would be doing today if she only had 37 days to live. She realized she didn't need to seek enlightenment in a faraway land. Living each day with intention was about "more fully inhabiting the life I have, not creating a new one."
In her first chapter, Digh espouses the importance of writing to remember. "...We are only one step away from losing the stories of our lives. [Writing] is also a strategy for learning," she adds. "And for determining who and what we are--and who and what we yearn to be."
Throughout each chapter are action challenges, timed ten-minute writing exercises to reinforce the story preceding them. Following the action challenges are "movement challenges" meant to keep you attentive to something for 37 days, such as making eye contact with people who are living on the streets, homeless. I appreciate Digh's inclusivity of people who deserve our "respectful curiosity": people who are homeless, disabled, or transgender, for instance.
The design of the book is especially enticing. It's in full color, illustrated with collages by many artists. One artist, Donna B. Miller, made a card to carry around to remind herself of one of the blog essays. Digh thought it such a brilliant idea that she posted a note suggesting people send in art. All 120 pieces of art are used throughout the book, adding a whimsical flavor and greatly enhance the written word. They invite you to keep dipping in for a daily message.
I loved the book's message to wake up and live intentionally, its colors, even the feel of the paper. A book that encourages you to "inhabit your own story" is well worth recommending and passing along.

5 comments about Indigo Ocean Dreams: 4 Children's Stories Designed to Decrease Stress, Anger and Anxiety while Increasing Self-Esteem and Self-Awareness (Indigo Ocean Dreams).
- This cd is a miracle. I have a four year old and a six year old who have a very difficult time falling asleep and allowing themselves to relax. It is a struggle every night. If I didn't see this for myself, I would have never believed it. Within ten minutes, both of my children were fast asleep. Lori's voice is very relaxing and I can't wait to order another cd.
- my four year old chooses between the 'blue' and the 'purple' cd to listen to as he falls asleep, these have even outdone the Polar Express he had been listening to!
calming and soothing- i'm not sure who loves them more- he or I!!!!
- This entire CD has been a wonderful boon for my children, especially my 8 year old daughter who has suffered from nightmares and had trouble going to sleep. The tracks are very calming and age appropriate, the imagery is fun and supports positive self esteem and connection with others.
I would recommend this to any parent as a wonderful reinforcer of positive feelings when your child is relaxing or preparing for bed.
beautifully done!
- I hope to put into words how transformational this CD is.
My 8 year old son has a lot of anxiety due in part to his reading disability. So whenever I introduce a new concept to him (home charter school), he immediately thinks he can't do it, he gets extremely frustrated, and gives up before even trying. Awful. I was desperate to find something to help, and I knew something like Indigo Dreams had to exist. Lucky for us, I found it.
I downloaded it in MP3 format right away. My husband was very skeptical, but he knew we had to give it a try.
I prepared a small alcove off of our living room to create a "relaxation station". I painted it chocolate brown, brought in a couple of live leafy plants, set a dark green cushion on the floor, along with a few coordinating pillows. I set up his CD player with headphones, and explained to my son that during school, I will set aside time whenever needed for relaxation station. He was excited to try it out.
So on the first day of school, he got overwhelmed with his phonics lesson. He got through the lesson though, knowing that he would get down time. So shortly after, off he went to relaxation station. He was sitting up on the cushion, against the pillows. Literally, ten minutes later, he was nestled in, and sound asleep.
He LOVES "The Angry Octopus". That is his favorite. He says that he uses his imagination to see the story. When the octopus is angry, he feels angry too. And when the octopus breathes to calm himself, he does it too. He sees colors and the characters and the environment. He loves the sounds of the ocean. He says that it relaxes him and makes him feel good.
Since using relaxation station on an as needed basis, my son no longer has the outbursts as I described earlier. He still gets frustrated from time to time, but now he is becoming an eager learner! He is progressing in school like never before! There are still challenges, but this CD helped remove one of the barriers, which was anger/frustration. Awesome!
I have recommended this to elementary teachers, special education teachers, and physical and occupational therapists. I have recommended it to moms of kids who are perfectionists or have anxiety or anger issues or are highly sensitive.
I am so glad I found this product. Even my skeptical husband admitted to its success. :)
My 6 year old daughter also enjoys this CD. She especially likes the breathing exercises. Although she does not share the same challenges as her brother, she still does benefit from the stories.
I would highly recommend this to parents, teachers, therapists, and specialists who work with children.
- I found the Lite books at the American Psychological Association conference this past August. While I work with adults I was browsing for something to help my 5 yr old get to sleep and to deal with pain management (frequent ear aches). I came away with Bubble Riding (lovely book) and subsequently got Indigo Ocean Dreams to check out more of what the Lite Selections have to offer. The Indigo Ocean Dreams CD has been a lovely addition to our bedtime routine. I feel good about the fact that my child is learning skills in such a sweet, enjoyable way and that will continue to be of use to him as he grows up (visualization, breathing, affirmations etc). A great find altogether - one that I'll be passing long to my child mental health colleagues!

5 comments about Sex, Lies, and Handwriting: A Top Expert Reveals the Secrets Hidden in Your Handwriting.
- I heard the author on the Opie and Anthony show, and bought the book immediately. I had read "Between the Lines" many years ago, and I liked this book better. The practical examples of famous people and criminals really kept me involved with the subject matter.
- This type of "analysis" should be placed next to the fortune tellers booth at the County Fair. The way someone writes provides absolutely no basis as to their personality. There has been no scientific studies to validate graphoanalysis. This book should be read for entertainment purposes akin to reading the Sunday comics.
- "Sex, Lies and Handwriting" can change your life.
Have you ever wonder what people, including yourself, are all about? If so, you've got to read this book. Anyone interested in the inner workings of the human mind will find "Sex, Lies and Handwriting" enlightening. As a scientist I tend to be skeptical about subjects like this however, I have read this book from cover to cover and can't get enough. The information is not just fascinating and informative, but the author, Michelle Dresbold, has a wry sense of humor that makes the book a fun and ente
This book is definitely worthwhile reading. I highly recommend it.

- Bought for my husband, I read instead. Very interesting! I'm hooked. Now I want to see everyones writing that I come across. This is an interactive book so you really feel like you are learning something. Also, editors notes are easy to understand.
- I heard about this book on the "Opie and Anthony" radio po-gram on Sirius XM satellite radio. They interviewed the author and the book sounded interesting. It is an amazing read. I instantly began looking at handwriting differently and her descriptions about what to look for are dead on. Michelle Desbold writes about famous crime cases as well adding to the fascinating skill of handwriting analysis.
I am currently re-reading the book and taking notes about handwriting analysis.
A must read for anybody interested in criminal justice, law, etc.

- On the positive side, I think the author had a few good things to tell those of us who struggle w/ trauma, which I noted at the side of each page, i.e., facts about the numbers of people living w/ trauma & the struggle we have w/ folks who haven't been traumatized but urge you to get on w/ your life, etc. On the negative side, if you start at the wrong place you will arrive there every time. I choose not to believe I have a reptilian brain, that I am a human animal or that I am a product of chance or evolution. That was insulting, but predictable. I believe that trauma has meaning, even if I never discover what it is. If it doesn't serve some purpose then life is meaningless, truly. If we are all basically animals, why be moral? He believes that most of our problems in the world are due to unresolved trauma. That's the blind leading the blind. How do I, as an organism, trust what he's saying is true? This book raises more issues for me than it solves, not only because of its starting point, but also because of how blatantly absurd it is in that it does not conform to real reality even if there are similarities in the animal world. I wasn't helped by this gibberish.
- The fact that the body remembers the psychological injuries inflicted on the mind is not new. What I found very disappointing and almost incredible is the fact that the author draws up a list of possible abuses and puts at the same level the trauma of a painful surgery and the emotional or/and sexual abuse of a child mistreated by her parents for years. The book is simplistic and first of all sends the wrong message to people who carries deep emotional wounds. It is close to the superficial self-help books that claim that they can solve your problems once and for all. This must be untrue given the huge number of books of this kind, all of them promising what they do not deliver. And the reader who needs serious help keeps buying the latest "secret" book that holds all the answers to your problems.
- Great book, best not to read it in one sitting as I found it "woke my tigers" all at once, which the book says can happen.I did seek help as book suggests.Well worth it all.
- I am a Marriage Family Therapist Trainee who has suffered from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for over 15 years. Western medicine includes some form of medication and desensitization from the traumatic event. Although this treatment has been helpful, I believed that my PTSD symptoms were a life-sentence, which included anxiety, fear, phobia's, bodily sensations, depression and a sense of confusion because my life never seemed to be the same again after the traumatic event.
This book has given me new hope in the 'healing' of PTSD. Because this book shows you how to "discharge" the trauma from the nervous system, one can experience freedom again from the torment of living with traumatic symptoms.
This book entails much more than I will be writing in this review, but I can tell you that this book offers hope, practical exercises, and an in-depth, yet simple, knowledge of trauma and a recovery process so that an individual may begin to experience a joyful life again.
- This is a very informative and important book that explains the very core of what trauma is, how it affects us, and what we can do to overcome our suffering.
