5 comments about At a Journal Workshop: Writing to Access the Power of the Unconscious and Evoke Creative Ability.
- I cannot speak to the method itself, as I haven't been using it long enough. However, the book should have had the services of a good editor. Just b/c good journaling requires one to turn off one's inner editor doesn't mean a book about it should be written the same way! Needed someone to tighten up the structure and put signposts in the texts to help the reader follow the structure better.
- As a reader with a degree in English and a master's degree too, it dismayed me to have such a hard time comprehending At a Journal Workshop. Maybe I was looking more for quick exercises that I could use with my journal and that made me impatient with the heavy language and obscure concepts of this book.
Perhaps the concepts of Twilight Imagery, Steppingstone Periods and Inner Wisdom Dialogue are easier to grasp in an actual workshop.
More in depth than I wanted to deal with. I recommend The Creative Journal by L. Capacchione which I found sparked some valuable insights for me in my journal writing.
- I am a fan of Progoff's Intensive Journal and have been doing the journal method for over 20 years. This book is a valuable tool for learning this technique, but it is not well-organized.
The first third of the book does a good job of explaining the method, but the rest of the book has a very meandering style. This is in keeping with the spirit of the journal, but without having done a workshop it will be difficult for people to learn what they need to know on their own with only this book as a guide.
However, AT A JOURNAL WORKSHOP is invaluable commentary for those who have done the various Progoff's workshops. It is also valuable to those who haven't, but it isn't written is such a way that you can learn what you need to know without plodding through the whole book carefully.
It would be great if someone could edit this text and organize it more efficiently. The metaphors and examples are excellent, but it definitely needs some updating and serious editing.
I encourage anyone who has not tried this method to give it a shot. It has been invaluable to me over the years and it's great to hear Dr. Progoff's own words on how to do it.
Although Progoff was a wonderful depth psychologist, he wasn't as good a writer in the conventional sense of the word. However, you need this book to truly capture the full spirit of the Intensive Journal Method. It will be a lot of work to go through it and make sense of it all in the way it's presented. However, it contains pearls of wisdom and excellent tips on how to make the most of the technique.
- This book is VERY in depth, probably more than most people want to go. It's allot of work and time consuming although I like it. If you buy it, be prepared to work at it.
- This book is a powerful tool for self analysis as well as for anyone that meditates.

5 comments about Mentor: The Kid & The CEO; A Simple Story of Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Significance.
- A very worthy use of a few hours time - quick read and big impact.
"No man is an island" reminder. We can boost each other to make huge leaps if we just think of our interactions as 'investments in each other'.
- This is a quick and easy book to read. I have shared it with others. It is very motivating.
- This book is a must read for everyone. It held me from beginning to end. The author is right...we all need a mentor and we all need to mentor.
- I gave this as a gift to a young aspiring professional. He said it was a great book, very uplifting and motivating.
- I enjoyed the quick and easy read of this book. "The List" of helpful phrases and recommended reading list were excellent and useful. The story itself was too sappy and not believable. I noticed afterward that it was based on actual events and would have found those details to be better than the fairy tale. Overall, the message was positive and relevant for anyone on either side of a mentoring relationship.

5 comments about Awakened Imagination/the Search.
- If your interested in the Science of Mind philosophy and/or metaphysical healing then Neville Goddard should be a high prority on your list of authors. He explains techniques of mind science philosophy in clear understandable language and his insights are a delight! I am glad was was able to find him, you will be to!!
- How does our dreams come true and what makes our dreams come true? We all have dreams and we often think that our dreams are held somewhere far away in the future, but in reality our dreams are held right now in our hearts.
The awakened imagination by Neville Goddard made me understand that, that our dreams are our thoughts and feelings. Reading the book which was passionately written, not only help me internalize this message, it also brought home the understanding that l have been longing for. It explained most verses in the bible and it also gave clear and sincere explanation of most biblica quotations that has been misinterpretated.
If am ever stock in a place or in an island without food or means of survival, l rather be stock with this very specail book, because this is a book that not only inspires, it also empowers one with the knowledge of ones own ever present divinity and potentials.
- Well I've read a lot of Law of Attraction material, but this one put it all together for me as far as imagination and the mind goes.
Although if I would've read it first it may not have sunk in as much.
Lots of underlining in this book !
Really emphasises thinking "from" the state of having it, not just desiring it. DC
- Good book which reinforces ideas about manifestation. Only problem is if you have read other books by Neville such as the Law and the Promise the same theme rides throughout each of his books. Would not recommend reading more the 1-2 of Neville's books. Having said that this was an excellent read and well worth it.
- thinking "from" the state of having it is faith's definition. When you try it, you will find you in a struggle with what you know as reality. "Reality" is the state you want to change.Probably, when you are trying to think from the state of having it, your reason will tell you that you are just imagining. To overcome that, you make an effort to believe that what you are imagining is reality itself. This is a very difficult task. Why this task? "The Father does the work". Not you.

- Dr. Siegel has done such a superb job with this audio cassette. I use this audio cassette several times a week. Very impressive work done by Dr. Siegel.
- If you really want to get away for awhile this is the one for you.
- This is the best CD meditations that Dr. Siegel ever created! *I listen to this CD to relax and revive and also because it greatly assists me with getting rid of my migraine headaches (which I feel are caused by stress and tiredness and negative thinking)*. So, this CD has been a healing balm that has greatly helped me to relax and be more positive!
To anyone who is thinking about purchasing this CD, I will say, of all of Dr. Bernie Siegel's CD's, THIS IS A MUST TO OWN. It can be played over and over and each time, it will be just the thing to help you!
- As a meditation teacher and law of attraction practitioner, I am constantly seeking out and using meditation and affirmation CD's. But none have helped me more than Bernie Siegel's CD's, especially this one, Meditations for Peace of Mind. At one point in my life where I had experienced a serious loss, I used this CD every day for just over a month, at times listening to it a number of times a day. I have to say this CD is THE main thing that helped me to recover. It did exactly what the title says, it restored my peace of mind. The CD has two meditations, each with wonderful music that is easy to listen to. And, Dr. Bernie Siegel's timing, tone of voice, and words are so soothing, healing, and filled with compassion. I can't imagine not having this CD in your library. And, if you can only buy one, this is it. Totally recommended. -- Dr. Lisa Love, Beyond the Secret
- This CD is excellent. It brings peace and joy into your life if you allow yourself time to meditate at least once a day. I have been able to release barriers, resistance which has brought clarity to my mind.

5 comments about 4,000 Questions for Getting to Know Anyone and Everyone.
- I bought this book as a sort of game for my fiance' and I. I figured with 4000 questions, how could it be anything but dull?
I was disappointed as I flipped through the book, to see that we had already asked each other most of these questions. I was looking for interesting, conversation sparking questions--and these were your streotypical "just getting to know you" questions. We resorted to making up our own questions.
If you want a general book with general questions, this is for you. If you're looking for a more in depth, personal book with exciting questions--this is NOT it.
- I am not very outgoing, so I thought this book would help me start some conversations with people I don't know. Yes, there are some questions I never would have thought to ask, an some questions I had fun answering my self. However, there are so many duplicates! Just the same question rewritten 5 different ways! Not to mention, most of the questions were a little too personal to be asking someone you don't know. It is a great book to sit down with your mate on a rainy or snowy winter night, and each read a few questions. If for nothing else, you may learn a few new things about yourself!
- I'd like to give the book a no-star rating, as I can't really say whether it is good or no good. I just have trouble imagining anyone actually using the thing. It actually IS a bare list of 4000 questions, divided into their most obvious topical classifications, for people who can't think of anything else to say. "Think" is the operative word here, as they say; questions tend to pre-suppose more thinking than mere declarative statements. So I suppose the idea is to impress people with your intellect, though I can't ever remember seeing or hearing much evidence that intellect is what matters in how Americans form an estimate of each other. And, in the heat of trying to get close to someone (in whatever sense), do you really think you'll REMEMBER these lines? Sort of like that picture you have of the tourist leafing through their phrasebook, looking for the right phrase, with the ultimate joke of the joke knowing that the thing was left behind the bidet. Or the cartoon about the ineptico who tried courting the girl he'd picked out the herd by referring to a list of things to talk about over dinner if things wound down a bit early.
Are these people serious? Is American culture really so autistic and de-brained that these people need guidance on what to talk about, not just with a member of the opposite sex that's rendered you speechless but ANYBODY?
Well, I just don't think you're going to get laid with this book. Or get a job. Or distract the host while your significant other (assuming you could snag one) makes off with the blender.
- After reading other reviews, I thought that this book would be a good book to get. But I was very disappointed. I would not use almost any of the questions. Much of the questions are too personal to ask someone, and they don't provide useful information.
- After reading other reviews and disagreeing with all of them, I had to write my own. This book is a great value. The questions are good questions and they are not too personal. Go ahead and ask! What are you afraid of? We have been having a blast with this book. If you cannot have great fun with this book too, then you need to find more interesting friends!

5 comments about Treat Your Own Neck.
- This book came from a recommendation from my orthopedic.. he informed me there was pretty much nothing I could do about my low back except for "Quit with the running and high impact exercises". This book basically tells you to sit up straight, but a back support under your lower back, and lie several times a day on your stomach, and push yourself up on your arms and hold that position to reinstate the arch in your lower back.. well, duh.. If you are in decent shape this one is not for you. I could see where it may help if you are old, overweight, out of shape, and don't know what else to do..
- I had an awful pain in the neck. I went to a chiropractor and got no relief. So, I ordered this little book. The exercises are simple but effective, common sense really. No more nagging pain and as long as I perform the exercises my neck feels pretty good!
- read this book and use the methods BEFORE surgery. What the doctors DO NOT tell you about diskectomy and fusion surgery is that you will be disabled for life and will never be able to do many activities ever again.
The book is excellent for neck mobility and health. Try it as an option before going under the knives. . . .
- After being out a week from work due to lower back pain, a friend let me borrow this one and Treat Your Own Back. Also bought this one 7 Steps to a Pain-Free Life: How to Rapidly Relieve Back and Neck Pain. All three were very helpful as was gettting in a pool & stretching. By combining these exercises Robin recommends with pool stretching, the pain was relieved within a few weeks.
I have also been using Targus AWE26US Ergonomic M-stand for Notebook Computers at work with my notebook which has eliminated most all of my upper neck pain. Also, walking for 20-30 minutes each day at lunch and getting a better chair really helps lower back pain. Steelcase's Leap chair has been the best one I've used so far.
The other thing you hear a lot is not to sit more than 20 minutes without getting up for at least a minute or two. I use this program, "Take A Break", which blinks on my laptop to remind me to do that. [...]
- The method you can learn from reading this book may very well end neck pain for you, as it did for me. The excercises, though seemingly simple, when used regularly, have the potential for ridding yourself of the problems associated with neck pain. The straightforward approach to instruction makes this book invaluable. If you haven't heard of McKenzie's approach, get this book.

5 comments about Choosing Happiness: Life and Soul Essentials.
- From the heart, easily accessible, highlighting both common sense and uncommon sense, a well written book by a one who has walked the walk. I bought multiple copies to give to my kids.
- If this book and been titled as a self help book I might have passed it by, but the title intrigued me, every one of course would choose to be happy. As I started reading I thought I know this and was reluctant to continue, but something kept me going, the more I read the more it all made sense, yes I knew most of the things that were being said, but was I practicing them. It has certainly stopped some of my bad habits and put a different point of view forward to me. I will always keep it as a reference guide, and I have given one over to a family member, and told all my friends about it. It also helped me to heal some old wounds, and truly forgive things, that I thought had been unfairly done to me.
- I have to tell you that I basically read Choosing Happiness in a single day. I had been looking for information on helping me better handle my stress and on living a much simpler, more joyous life when what do I find but an entire table dedicated to "Finding Happiness". I must have picked up ten books from that table that looked good, but it was Stephanie's book that grabbed my attention and kept it for the rest of the day!
The book is jam-packed with solid advice--advice I had basically read or heard from various Christian speakers, authors, and psychologists over the years. The difference is that Stephanie shares the advice as though you were sitting at a table with a close friend who truly wanted you to be happy--not someone who wanted you to know how smart she was. You get a sense that Stephanie truly cares about the happiness of her readers and that she's found the secret to happiness that has eluded us for years--money, successes, and material possessions mean nothing. True happiness comes from within and in order to find and keep true happiness in your life, you must:
* Treat yourself with self-respect.
* Take time to get to know yourself through self-discovery, self-knowledge, and self-responsibility.
* Take time to do the things that matter most to you--even if it's only thirty minutes a day.
* And most importantly, learn to LOVE yourself for who you are, not who you could be or what other people think you should be.
Here are a few key quotes that hit home for me:
* "If what matters to you most differentiates from what you do most in your life, that conflict can negatively affect your moods, your emotions, and your relationships."
* "When we feel worst about ourselves we feel the most disconnected from others."
* "Be aware of what you didn't get in childhood as well as what you most resent. Use that awareness to be especially sensitive about not unconsciously demanding that your partner, kids, or friends make up for that."
* "People who take time to simply `be' on a daily basis are measurably more productive, better listeners, less stressed, more alive, and more resilient than those who don't."
* "Your life is an incredible gift, not for what you can do with it but for what it is!"
If you are searching for more out of life and just aren't happy with what you're finding, check out Choosing Happiness . It just might steer you in the right direction.
- Everyone should read a page of this book upon awakening.
Really positive and affirming.
- For the last two years, I've been lost and looking for answers, such as "when and why I lost happiness?" "How can I be happy again?" "What do I want for my life?". I've been reading different books on this topic. And this book is the best book I found. I am feel lucky I found this book. It's easy to read/understand. It's not wordy and just get to the point. By reading the book, I feel the author is very wise and has read a lot of books in philosophy/religion/self-help for her to give a better guidance to her readers. My counselor only told me to write a journal of my thoughts to find out who I am and what I want, but the techniques taught in the book such as seed meditation helped me write a journal in the right way. This helped me answer a lot of questions about myself. The book also let me ask the right questions such as questions for self-reflection purpose. This helps me find out a pattern of reaction on similar situations, why I had this patter, what was I trying to get, if I got what I want, how can I improve next time.
I am still reading this book, and these are only what I like part of the book. But I highly recommend this book!

5 comments about Norman Vincent Peale: Three Complete Books: The Power of Positive Thinking; The Positive Principle Today; Enthusiasm Makes the Difference.
- STILL APPROPRIATE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I READ IT 30 YEARS AGO, NOW IT IS HELPING MY SON.
- This book is an excellent comprehensive boost for anyone who wants to welcome change and new ways of seeing their world and the issues they may have in relationships, wealth, success and life in general. I haven't finished reading it yet - but have found that even just one page a night before bed does wonders in slowly opening us up to change and positive ways of thinking. It's difficult to do in a world that bombards us at lightening speed with so many mixed positive and negative, draining messages. This is a great way to keep your feet on the ground, mind focused on the important things and even if you aren't religious to explore yourself and spirituality. Like a pocket psychotherapist ;-)
- The book teaches through others inspirational stories; there is no real teaching on how to have a positive attitude. I was expecting the book to give me steps on how to have a positive out look. It is also a religious book, which I didn't expect when I ordered it.
- I own the first book "Power of positive thinking". I can hardly wait to read the other two. At one point in my life I was covered with negative thinking and it drastically affected my actions and situations around me. However, using this book changed my life. I trust in God more now, have more faith in him, and I am much happier today. Also, more people started noticing and they liked the happier, more in control me. Praise God!!
- I have made a goal for myself and I intend to achieve it so I ordered this book to help me to think positively towards my new goal. It has inspired me to take life my the horns and defeat all the negative ideas that try to beat me down on a daily basis. I'm very pleased with this book and the positve ideas and suggestions it gives.
This book arrived as promised in the aloted time and in excellent shape.

5 comments about The Art of Meditation.
- This book is a life-changer. Joel Goldsmith presents a down to earth spiritual path that is genuine, universal, and not "religious". Joel uses the context of the Bible and Christian understanding to go much deeper into the true meaning of the Kingdom of God and how we can find our own connection to the Divine. I particularly resonated with the concept that one can follow only one principle (ie. love or peace...) and if we steadfastly meditate on that aspect our whole spirit gains insight and understanding.
- I bought this book about ten years ago and I only read about a chapter or two of it. The difficulty I had with this book was not that I didn't understand what he was talking about, it was that I couldn't follow the suggestions Goldsmith was making.
Joel Goldsmith suggests that when you meditate, you do not ask God for anything...nothing! And that's a very hard thing for most of us to do. Even when we think we're not asking God for things, we usually are. And it's not that I'm against asking God for things because I am of the opinion that "God loves to be used" but not during meditation...especially not during meditation!
Meditation is for the sole/the soul purpose of letting God be God in you. It's about letting the peace, the love, the joy well up from within and take over. Meditation is about being true to your True Self and letting the veil that "separates" the seen from the unseen drop away and realize with real eyes that everything is One.
I don't think this book is neccessarily for Christians as one reviewer said it was. A lot of the terminology is undeniably Christian, but if you are open enough to read this book, you're probably open enough to know that just because they may be Christian words, Christianity does not own them. Truth does not belong to a particular religion. Truth is an ultimate that every person must discover for themselves and it can be done by reading this book and attempting to do what it suggests.
May we let God be God in us, as us in all that we think, do, and say. May our only prayer be a prayer of thanks and may we dwell only on God's Perfect Kindom when we meditate.
- i started to read this book and couldn't get very far due to the fact that every other line in the book has the word God or Christ in it. Neither have any influence in my life and found it difficult to find a relationship between them and meditating. From what i read, meditation can only be done via surrendering yourself to God. I personally feel as though that is unnecessary. Caveat emptor.
- I've read a lot of meditation books, and done a number of different retreats - Quaker, Buddhist, yogic, other. Sometimes the words get old, and I stop hearing them deeply. This book describes profound truths in largely Christian terms, but the trajectory goes way beyond mainstream (superficial) Christianity. It takes the reader to the heart of all true teachings: the kingdom of heaven IS; it is now; and it is within. The spiritual life is not so much about being a better somebody or affiliating correctly, as it is about looking beyond all preceived obstructions toward the depth and breadth of truth itself. Yes!
- Not for the orthodox christian. Mr. Goldsmith preaches more about his views on the "Infinite Way"; rather than offer dialog or composition to the practice of meditation. The book is more metaphysical idealogy then christian theology, although the author attempts to merge christian faith with metaphysicial idealogy.
The title should be: "Meditations of the Infinite Way."

5 comments about How Far Will You Go?: Questions to Test Your Limits.
- My friends and I had a girls night out and I decided to whip this book and the other "If" book out. Two hours and a few tears later we know more about each other than we did the years that we've known each other. I would recommend it to anybody, not just for social situations and in getting to know others but to get to know yourself better too, your limits, strengths, and weaknesses.
- The title of this book is misleading. I expected the book to be about hypotethetical situations where the major question would be "how far will you go?" Unfortunately the book is a bunch of random questions, most of them uninteresting, but several of them thought-provoking. It's good for a laugh but don't expect to have any deep conversations over this thing. I got it as a present but I wouldn't spend any money on it.
- This book has sparked some very interesting conversations with my friends.
Thanks for the ideas.
- Book of interesting questions. I got this because I thought I'd enjoy answering the questions, and getting to know myself even better. Don't you like it when someone asks you a thought provoking question, and you know that they really wanna know your answer? This would be a fun book to use with company or your friends or family. (Course, there may be some questions that would be better left unanswered from some people.) It would also make for a good coffee table book.
Some of these questions I'm sure you've never thought of, or how you'd answer them. The back cover of the book says "Define your boundaries". I know people, who have no idea what their boundaries are or if they even have any. Some questions are fun, some are trivial, and some are more serious. Some will take longer to answer than others.
I think this could also be good excercises for writers, as a writing prompts.
- I bought this book for a friend for Christmas. As soon as she opened it, we started reading and answering the questions. Questions like, "Who is the person you miss most right now?" "What would you most readily die for?" or "In what way are you least understood?" Not only will it tell you alot about who you are talking to, but it will also make you dig deep within yourself for the best possible answer, and end up telling you alot about yourself. She is planning on using this book at our New Years Eve party and I know that it will be a hit. If you want a good conversation starter, a new party idea, or you just want to get to know more about your friends (or yourself) you should buy this book. It may be small in size, but it's contents can be powerful.
