5 comments about Law of Attraction Workbook - A 6-Step Plan to Attract Money, Love, and Happiness.
  1. This ebook is an easy to understand step by step on using the Law of Attraction. Being a practioner of the Law, it is a challenge sometimes explaining to people the exact science of this wonderful gift we are given. This book will help those that want to know more learn in a precise yet easy to understand format.

  2. This workbook is a great way to start using the Law of Attraction effectively in your life. You will be guided through identifying your desires to attract them into your life. It is easy to use for any age. Use this workbook to start using the Law of Attraction today!

  3. An other book on the LOA, yes it is but why do you keep looking and buying it?
Because you were searching for this one!
    And you found it, finally.
Now you can relax and enjoy life at it fullest.
Buy it, print it, read it and for God sake, APPLY IT!

  4. After seeing the movie "The Secret" I thought it might be helpful to get a workbook to help me with the principles they teach regarding The Law of Attraction. However, the first thing I noticed upon opening this workbook is that the first 42 pages ask you to write down every NEGATIVE thing you can think of about your life! You are asked to fill in the blanks regarding what you worry about most, what you struggle with, what you are concerned about, with your life partner, with your family, about money, about your career, and on and on. When I watched The Secret, my first impression was that you should not even dwell on these things AT ALL. So it seems as right at the beginning this book violates the first principle -- CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS! Then, once the book does get around to the part where your write how you would like your life to be, it specifically asks to you write down HOW YOU EXPECT TO ACCOMPLISH these changes! (i.e. "You need to move beyond listing the things you need to change and begin to focus on what you are going to do to attract each of the things . . .") This specifically contradicts another principle revealed in The Secret, which stated that you do not have to KNOW how it will come about, and you do not have to try to figure out yourself HOW IT WILL COME ABOUT! This appears to be one of those typical self-help books that have been published in the past, and it seems to have been just slightly adjusted to fit the principles of the Law of Attraction. Maybe this is a different "Law of Attraction" than they present in The Secret DVD? If you are looking for a book to help you with accomplishing the goals set by The Secret DVD, look elsewhere, this isn't it.

  5. Very informative and practical book. As a professional teacher/consultant in Canada for people who wish to better use their subconscious mind to improve their life through the law of attraction, I would personally give this book my recommendation to beginners to the subject as well as people who already have a grounding in the subject.

5 comments about From Age-Ing to Sage-Ing: A Profound New Vision of Growing Older.
  1. These days, in our Western culture, for many man and woman over 40, the aging process has become something to fear. Which is utterly crazy, given that most people nowadays are barely half way through their lives at that point. It's like wanting to leave the restaurant somewhere in the middle of the main course and without tasting the dessert at all.
I liked this book because it is one of the few to look deeply into the whole adventure of aging and to broadcast to the world that the later decades of life have a different - and surprisingly wonderful - agenda all of their own. It is time for us older folk to stop cringing about getting older but to open to the process and re-own our place as 'wise elders.' As I was writing my own book - ELDERWOMAN - which is specifically for women, this wise man's book was a marvellous resource for me. It is a full, rich book, worth reading and re-reading. The exercises are useful and practical and the ideas are powerful. Highly recommended.

  2. this book provides an insight and perspective on changing my view of what opportunity life can create. This book has opened my mind and my heart to new possibilities. I recommend reading this philosophy when you are considering what the next step in your life may be, particularly if you are between the ages of 52 and 65 years old.

  3. From Age-Ing to Sage-Ing has been a personal inspiration for me. Being recently retired, it has shown me that it's important to take all of the knowledge and wisdom that I have gained and give it back to the younger generation. If all of us healthy elders volunteered some of our wisdom in the workforce, our Social Security crisis would be greatly diminished. This is a wonderfully timely book with an important message.

  4. The two chapters in this book that I appreciated the most were Chapter 8 Mentoring: Seeding the Future with Wisdom where on reads that modern day families all to often turn to some 'professional' when it comes to issues involving our families, and these 'experts' don't even have to have kids or even be close to their own families. Its the sheep skin with some Latin on it that makes them more knowledgeable than our own elders.

And Chapter 9 Elders as Healers of Family, Community and Gaia. I ignored the Gaia aspect since its not something I am into. But the rest is pretty on target as far as how the inter generational health benefits are when children and young adults are around older people who have alot to offer, and how what they offer is more patience, a sense of humor and secure grounding that equates to security.

  5. I have learned to appreciate my personal growth processes while developing compassion for the hundreds of people I work to develop financial support; Meals on Wheels, Transporation and several additional services through our community's Senior Resource Center. I recommend this book to everyone curious about their personal sage-ing or those who hope to understand the new paradigm shift surrounding the generation known as Baby Boomers

3 comments about Family Secrets: The Path from Shame to Healing.
  1. This is one of the best works that I have ever read. Honest, with clear direction on what steps to take to improve the state of your life. Highly recommend!

  2. I first read this book when the subtitle was "What you don't know can hurt you." Bradshaw and others have finally done research to prove his thesis that generations repeat patterns, events, behaviors--not just personality types and genetic diseases. Reluctantly I had to agree because my observations, although unscientific, confirm what he explains.

Understanding Bradshaw's book altered my life and the abbreviated life of my brother, as indicated in the book "Gossip Kills (The 9th/8th? Commandment). The story therein is a case study of what Bradshaw posits in Family Secrets. A "must read" for anyone who understands or suspects that we're only as sick as our secrets.

  3. Family Secrets provides powerful tools for understanding the dynamics of families, and understanding how you may have become unknowingly enmeshed in patterns that can persist for generations.

The most valuable parts of the book are the techniques for uncovering family secrets, and the method for bringing all the information together in such a way that it makes sense. These techniques are practical and really work. I made several major discoveries about families I am involved with as a result of this book.

Bradshaw includes many new insights about how families work throughout the book.

    Overall, highly recommended.

5 comments about 10 Simple Solutions to Stress: How to Tame Tension And Start Enjoying Your Life (10 Simple Solutions).
  1. Dr. Wheeler changed my life. The exercises and conclusions at the end of the chapters bring to life the content contained within in a meaningful and thoughtful way. Who couldn't use a little less stress in their lives? I look forward to the next and all works of Dr. Wheeler.

  2. As a physician and teacher of stress reduction, this book is THE BOOK for those looking to find a way to reduce the stress in their lives. It is clearly written, concise, authoritative and extrememly easy to use. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
    Joel M. Evans, M.D.
author, The Whole Pregnancy Handbook (Gotham Books 2005)

  3. Dr. Wheeler has written a neat little book that is big on helping to handle stress. She displays her knowledge and thoughts in ways that are easy to understand. Her book contains many "Ah-ha"'s. Her book does not need to be read cover-to-cover but one can open to any chapter and find helpful suggestions and exercises. It is a thoughtful gift as well as a useful tool.

  4. A well written and meaningful book that not only educates but also provides powerful coping skills for stress and healthy attitudes towards life. As an integrative psychotherapist, I highly recommend this book.

    Debra Lewis Kaplan, LCSW, LMFT
Senior Faculty, Center For Mind-Body Medicine

  5. The trouble with stress is that you don't have time to learn coping skills when you are truly stretched beyond your limits. That's why Dr. Wheeler's book can be so helpful. Once I got past the Type A compulsion to read the entire book cover to cover, I realized I could have been nibbling at my troubles bit by bit. "10 Simple Solutions" is written in such a way that you can pick and choose the advice you need -- and the book is packed with useful, proven information. I recommend it.

5 comments about Nobody Likes Me, Everybody Hates Me: The Top 25 Friendship Problems and How to Solve Them.
  1. My son's teachers kept telling me my son was overly competitive and bossy -- They said he'd make a great CEO but right now it was really harming his relationship with other kids. They recommended Nobody Likes Me, Everybody Hates Me. I have to tell you that I had doubts -- I've tried these parenting books and if you can find one idea that is useful you're jumping up and down. This one really is helpful and simple to do. It's literally filled with ideas you can use to help your child. I read through the two chapters with my son's friendship issues and instantly saw what I was doing wrong. We're now working on the friendship skill builder for bossy and over competitive and the teachers say they've already seen changes with my kid. This is the one parenting book I'd recommend. It works!

  2. Nobody Likes Me... is a fabulous book. There is so much emphasis these days placed on teaching kids the 3 R's and preparing them for future careers that many parents don't realize that social competence and confidence are what really enable kids to grow up to be successful and happy people.

And, sadly, there are few opportunities for kids to develop these social skills. As the author of Your Children are Under Attack: How Popular Culture is Destroying Your Kids' Values, and How You Can Protect Them (Sourcebooks, 2005), I regularly see a culture of peer pressure, bullying, cliques, social ostracism, and cruelty in schools.

Dr. Borba offers parents valuable insights and practical tools they can use to minimize the destructive aspects and maximize the positive aspects of their children's relationships. She shows kids how to develop healthy and safe friendships, and how to avoid the bad roads that popular culture tells them they need to go down to be accepted and popular.

Dr. Borba's book is an essential weapon that parents can use in the war against popular culture. Teaching children how to develop and maintain meaningful and lasting friendships, and to gain the skills and confidence in their "social selves" are wonderful gifts that all parents can give their children to lead a successful and happy life. Dr. Borba's book can show the way.

  3. The advice in this book is easy to understand and follow, but sometimes falls into the realm of overly simplistic. I found myself searching vainly through the book for more depth, but I am not sorry that it got me started on the right track to tackling my issue with my daughter.

  4. Did anyone else notice that the 8 glowing reviews were all written within a month of each other, and all within a month and a half of when the book was first published? Hmmm.

  5. I thought this book was great and offered plenty of great advice (my children are 2-7 so I am reviewing it from that perspective). There are discussions on 25 friendship problems: argues, bad friends, bad reputation, bossy, bullied and harassed, cliques, clueless, different, does't share, fights, gossips, hot tempered, insensitive, jealous and resentful, left out, new kid, peer pressure, shy, siblings, sleepovers, tattletale, teased, tiffs and breakups, too competative, and too sensitive. No one child is going to have all these problems, but the sections are separate so you can read just the sections that apply to your child.

The reason I docked one star is because of the "shy child" section. I have a very quiet, or "shy" child so was particularily interested in this part. However, the author points out to never let anyone call your child "shy" but "SHY" is in the title of her chapter, in the title of all the suggested reading books for children and parents, and is the word of choice to talk about this personality trait. So, it's really confusing. Does she think the word shy is OK or not? It's not totally clear....Anyhow, I guess the main point is even if your child is "shy" don't let him/her use this as an excuse. Help him/her to work thru it.

Anyhow, I would recommend this book for your parenting library. It's easy to use and well organized.

5 comments about The Secrets of Power Negotiating: How to Gain the Upper Hand in Any Negotiation (Your Coach in a Box).
  1. I've seen this course make a very positive impact on more than one person. One thing I really like about it is that it's not about steamrolling people. It's about finding common ground and making sure both sides come away from the negotiation with their dignity and feeling good about dealing with you. With that said, this course can help you prevent being manipulated and taken advantage of by those who make a habit of steamrolling others, and do it in a way that isn't overly confrontational.

  2. Advance your as-yet undeveloped negotiating skills! Easy to read, incredibly well laid out and covers many real-life negotiating situations - you'll catch yourself smiling as you build your gambit toolbox which will allow you to deftly navigate your way through ANY situation requiring a negotiation. If its any testament, this book was critical in providing me the perspective and confidence required to become a commercial real estate broker.

  3. This is the first book that I've felt strongly enough about to write a review and the real world techniques covered are outstanding. It will pay for itself the first time you negotiate anything. His techniques are simple & straight forward and can be easily put into practice. I recommend the audio version so you can pop it in anytime for a refresher while driving prior to any negotiation.

  4. I made a $9,000 concession after only reading 45 pages...
I think it is safe to say the book has paid for itself.

  5. Good and insightful techniques for negotiation and great book for beginners. If you are not aware of these techniques then there are chances that you will fall victim of them by an expert who knows it all

I strongly recommend this book to all who find themselves as a victim in negotiation and power game

5 comments about Where's Mom Now That I Need Her: Surviving Away from Home.
  1. I am almost 50, and still use this book all the time for all kinds of nagging questions -- how DO I hard-boil an egg properly? A must for every child leaving hme and for every adult how ever had a mother!

  2. This is the BEST book for Graduation Gifts! Full of tips for cooking, cleaning along with recipes and great advice from Mom. I sell Longaberger and include it in every Graduation Gift Basket. They also sell "Where's Dad now that I Need Him." This one is similar but would show you how to change oil, a flat tire, etc.

  3. I recieved this book as a highschool graduation gift in 1996. It was used often at my first apartment and after I got married. My mom taught me a lot about cooking, but as the title emplys she was a long distance call away. I am still using this book today. One of the most helpful sections Is an extensive list of substitutions for those times when you are 1/2 way through a recipe and are missing something. It has saved MANY quick trips to the store thus $$$. Also added bonus, sections on medical info and treatment, basic car and bicycle repair, as well as cleaning and laundry tips. There are also blank pages to add you're own receipes. I am buying this for my neice's highschool graduation and will add some of her favorite receipes of mine. What a great gift idea for any grad.

  4. I bought this book for my grown daughter, she loves that it is ring bound & is thrilled to have it. She had one that got loaned & never returned.

  5. Easy recipes, stain removal, and first aid are certainly three areas of importance to a lot of people, not just those who recently left home, so the title does itself a disservice by limiting the audience unnecessarily. The book was initially published in 1983 and the recipes show it. They do not represent popular food choices of the 21st century, and an update is needed. For example, there is a Vienna Macaroni Delight recipe that actually uses Vienna sausages - they come in a can! (I often wonder who buys those things when I see them in the store.) There are also casseroles made with mushroom soup, and a Tangy Spam Loaf recipe. Like I said, the book needs a serious update.
That said, if you like comfort food you may find these recipes helpful. And the stain removal hints and first aid guide could prove handy for those who are new to doing their own laundry and nursing themselves back to good health. You might want to check out 50 Ways to Leave Your Motheras another gift for the grown kids in your life who are living on their own, or contemplating a move. It's got basic advice offered in a humorous, simple style that will appeal to the young and the clueless.

3 comments about Deep Wounds, Deep Healing: Discovering the Vital Link Between Spiritual Warfare and Inner Healing.
  1. Of all the books on inner healing and deliverance that I have read, this one has been one of the two most helpful. Dr. Kraft not only explains what happens in a ministry session, he also explains how to do it. A must for those wanting to see God move in this type of ministry!

  2. Great book. Excellent practical ways as a self-help or for ministry to others. It gives examples and guidelines for how to walk through letting Christ do the healing and for getting rid of spirits in a non-violent way. Very helpful.

  3. This book is a must have. It will give you a clear and bigger understanding of this whole issue. It gives very helpful
how to's in overcoming and getting deep level healing. Since reading this book I have purchased Charles Kraft's book Defeating Dark Angels and wow, this book is also a 5 star. Suggest you purchase both books at the same time from Amazon, you'll be very happy you did. This could be the best anytime gift or Christmas Gift to yourself or someone you love and care about who is looking for answers and healing!

3 comments about Experiencing Grief.
  1. This book is excellent. I read it about 1 month after my 3 year old died and I loved it. It is short, and a very easy read. Many books can be difficult to absorb in the fog of grief. Helped me understand places I was in, emotions I was experiencing, gave practical ideas for healing, and helped with expectations to come in the grief journey. this is very practical and I believe would be an excellent gift to anyone in grief, and at any point from the first day of mourning on. I would pay 3x the cost for the item!

  2. This book describes the many different feelings grieving people have and offers assurance that healing will come but not according to some preset time table. The one who is grieving will better understand that his experience is normal and those who want to help will have more empathy after reading this book.
The author writes from a Christian perspective and includes some Scripture references, but the approach is gentle and should not be offensive to a non-Christian.
The book is short, easy to read, and is small enough to be tucked inside a condolence card. I plan to buy several copies.

  3. My pastor gave this book to me after my son died. After reading it, I HAD to purchase additional copies to give away. After the death of a close friend or family member, there are so many feelings we go through, and this book describes and addresses all of them I went through! Even one I didn't realize, from my Father's passing two years prior to reading this.
It gives the reader understanding of tumultuous feelings of loss, regret, guilt, AND release from any guilt, plus encouragement for the future. I highly recommend this book for yourself, a family member or friend; it will be one of the best things you could do.

5 comments about Comfortable with Uncertainty: 108 Teachings on Cultivating Fearlessness and Compassion.
  1. Comfortable with Uncertainty offered me an entirely new way to think (and not think) about my life and living. In fun to read and beautifully written, short essays, Pema Chodron describes the revolutionary process of embracing the present, pursuing desire without becoming ferociously attached, and cultivating compassion for yourself and others.

I continually use this book as a gentle reminder whenever I am feeling overly anxious.

  2. as pema chodron is one of my teachers i always come back to this book for it's simplicity and great teachings. it's good for any-one who teaches others or new on the spiritual path.every time you revisit this book there's a new wisdom to be found.. it's a timeless treasure.
    jodi

  3. This book is quite enlightening. I can forsee reading many more of Chodron's books.

  4. Once in a great while a book like this comes along. It's so honest and plain and challenging at the same time. The short chapters and conciseness furthermore make it all the more accessible.

  5. It's a best of some of her writings, and it's really good. It's a nice concise set of one and two page sections from her other books. Something that I found myself reading a second time.
