5 comments about Detox Box.
-
I am glad I spent the money and time on this book. It really opened up my eyes to a lot of things I never really thought about. I am now more conscious of what I do with my body. I have been recommending this book to all my friends around. Most of us really don't understand what we need to do to be healthy, or we think we are doing the right things while we aren't. This book really helps you to become as healthy as you can be. Are there more thorough detoxifications available? Probably, but few of us have the luxury of following them. The only other book that I can recommend with Detox Box is "Can We Live 150" with many cleansing recipes for the entire body. Check also Cure the Incurable
- I loved the Detox Box! I am on my third week, and I have lost 7 pounds so far. I feel great, my skin feels wonderful, and I have energy to last me throughout the day. As a chocolate junkie, my biggest fear was that I would give into a craving, but surprisingly I did not crave any chocolate or carbs. The food in the program is designed to keep you full and often times, I was too full to eat everything. Many of the supplements don't taste great, but once you understand how it works with your body, it makes it all worth it. The shakes are delicious and the menu can be very varied if you try to make it so. Be prepared to dedicate time to make the broth and really follow through with everything on the cards, it is worth it. I have a full time job, a boyfriend, and a toddler, and I was able to do it. It is quite an investment, even after you buy the supplements, weekly trips to Wild Oats don't come cheap, but it really pays off.
- I purchased this after reading other reviews here. Love how this is all put together but have not started using it yet so only gave it 4 stars and will update my review after trying this out soon. Follow up..This is a very very expensive way to do a healthy detox and unreasonable I think...such a pretty box and well put together but just too much work and too expensive to purchase everything...sorry but there are so many other ways to do this that will not cost a fortune and with the same results so I am lowering this to 2 stars.
- I first did this program three years ago at the beginning of spring. I have recently begun the process again. Although somewhat costly, the expense is completely justifiable in relation to the results.
I found this program because I was dealing with feelings of extreme mental and physical stagnation. I wanted to give myself a chance to pause and reconnect with my body. I opted to do the full three weeks; which went by much faster than expected. I kept a journal through the the whole experience which was a wonderful way to keep track of my progress. At the end I felt more grounded, much happier, and very proud of my ability to persevere.
Right now I am one week into my three week cleanse and I feel excellent. Spring is taking hold outdoors and I feel the same sense of newness and rejuvenation occurring within myself. It is important to not think of this process as a punishment. It is a great reward.
Don't listen to the skeptics. If you are considering doing this detox I recommend it wholeheartedly. Instead of spending money on material possessions or dinners out at restaurants; invest it in your health. Tailor the program to your needs and what feels best for you. And most importantly, take some time to really listen to yourself. You will feel empowered and happy that you did.
- Great and easy transaction--fast shipping and product arrived in great condition. I would definitely recommend this seller!

5 comments about Personality Plus for Couples: Understanding Yourself and the One You Love.
- I have been familiar with the work of the Littauers since the 1970s. It is because I am so impressed with their work that I purchased three in her series to give as gifts to friends.
My husband and I were exact opposites on the personality charts. Our marriage was very rocky. After we understood what was causing the sandpaper we were able to get to the polished product which was a very enlightening and healing process.
The principles in this book made it possible for us to communicate in a style acceptable to us both and we resolved our problems from there. I recommend these books to anyone who wants to relate better with not just their husband, but family, friends, and business associates--And ourselves! We were able, at last, to create the loving and supportive home environment which had been our intention from the beginning.
- My marriage was in a very rough place, in fact I was planning to divorce, when a friend introduced me to Florence Littauer's books.
My husband irritated me, everything about him had begun to rub me the wrong way. I felt like nothing would ever change, and it was hopeless. This book was instrumental in helping me understand why we were so different, and why he acted and behaved the way he did. I am Choleric with some melancholy, and he is Phlegmatic with some melancholy. It showed me my own strengths and weaknesses, and how to understand, accept, and appreciate my husband's strengths and weaknesses.
In the end it helped us both to communicate better and enjoy each other more. Now, over a decade later, we are still together and stronger than ever. The principles still apply, and we joke that his "melancholy is showing" or that I'm "being Choleric".
I also found it helped me to better understand my relationships outside of marriage too- including my children's personalities and quirks.
I recommend this book regularly to other couples who are looking to improve their marriages, need to improve communication, and want to understand each other better, and have given copies as wedding gifts.
- This is a must read for every couple. The information in this book changed my mariage, and it can do the same thing for everyone who reads and understands the information on The Personalities.
- Learning to understand your mate is one of the easiest ways to pave the way to a better marriage. This book uses the "personality model" known as the Temperaments, made famous in earlier decades by Tim LaHaye. A facinating, fun jump start for your marriage!
- Florence Littauer's series of books on personalities are all well-written page-turners that clarify different type people. Her information is well referenced and explained with anecdotes that entertain and illustrate her points. My training is in Psychology, English and Sociology and she met every critical angle I gave her books. Hearing her speak in person is even better than her books. I realized what a valuable gift her book would be for engaged and newlywed couples and every person I've given her books to has thanked me and said they understood their spouses so much better.
I recommend stocking up on this book to have it ready to give at a moment's notice for couples who want to appreciate or even improve their relationships. - Lucy

4 comments about Coloring Mandalas 3: Circles of the Sacred Feminine (Coloring Mandalas).
- I would have preferred something looser; more latitude for designing my own Mandalas with a simple idea or direction given for "guidance". Actually, it's probably better to just create you own mandalas completely from scratch! There's probably plenty of mandala information free on the web, if you are interested in the history and/or the multitude of ways in which they are used today.
- Be daring to lose yourself in a mandala. One never knows what to expect. Open your heart, mind and soul. You will not be disappointed. Learn from these forms and then learn to create your own!
- I have utilized the first two books in this Mandala series for meditative reflection as I colored with pencils. The third one has images that are not as condusive to meditation and are somewhat disconcerting. I am attracted to repetitive designs reminiscent of Rose stained glass windows. Some of these images were just odd. Some were ugly. There are many other books out there with better designs for contemplation.
- These books are magical! I love the creativity and the "place" I go into when I am coloring a mandala. So relaxing......like a meditation. I think they make a perfect gift for all ages.I am so grateful to my girlfriend who gave me one after I had surgery. My husband joins me in the evening with his own book and it is far more enjoyable than watching T.V.

5 comments about Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation.
- There have been many insightful and helpful books written over time on the subject of living in the moment and only one that stands out for me as the best...and this book is it. It's the best in my opinion because the tools and ideas presented truly work in creating a life where lasting satisfaction and fulfillment can happen. It is definitely possible to live in the moment, day in day out, where the bumps on your life's road do not need to throw you off your path. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in living a life they dream of...it's possible for you because it's happened and continues to happen for me in my own life.
- I orded this too quickly and should have looked closer at the inside, and the reviews. Its just another of many "God is who you want him to be, find your own way..nirvana, happy place yada yada written to sell, not to help books..I have to say that if God is who you want him to be?? then how could HE be God? Must be YOU thats God..anyway the book was disgustingly typical.
- I am a professional female that has felt out of place since I was 13. I have seen therapists and searched for something to fix myself my whole life. I have read many self help books and done The Landmark Forum. In 1998 I landed in an AA room and was taught the 12 Steps of recovery. I read the BIG BOOK and thought the stories were exaggerated since I couldn't relate to them. I stopped drinking and took the suggested steps; taking a "fearless moral inventory" of myself by identifying my so called defects of character. As I grew in recovery, I was to take a daily inventory of myself which constantly reinforced that there was always something wrong with me that needed fixing. I now have 7 years of uninterrupted sobriety and recently I had the pleasure of reading the book "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" and WOW!!! Did I get it...
See in AA we strive to live a day at a time but to be able to live a moment at a time was not something I had ever considered (I mean who can live in the moment there is so much to plan for?). It wasn't by doing the 12 steps that I learned I was living my life based on exaggerated truths made up as a child. These ideas ranged from "don't let anyone ever tell you what to do "to" don't ever depend on any man". These ideas never supported me in my life. They in fact have hindered every relationship I ever had whereby I never married or had children.
Now that I am aware of those ideas thru reading this book, I have never looked back or thought about them again. I have quit trying to work on myself. I have accepted my life and everything about it.
My life is so easy today. I have actually been able to save a relationship that I unconsciously have been sabotaging for the last 3 years. I saw clearly why I was afraid of success. Since I now have the insights, I choose not to go back to the past and judge myself or others for anything that happened. I also choose not to spend time in a place that doesn't exist yet. I can just concentrate on the fabulous moment and how it feels to be here right now. Talk about freedom from the bondage of self. My shackles have been taken off permanently. Thank you to Ariel and Shya for sharing their incredible experiences with the world and most importantly for the ease in which they do it.
- This book offers nothing that I have not already read and studied. It is similar to basic Buddhist teaching. One must accect themselves as they are and peacefully co-exist with unpleasant qualities. This book is helpful but not great.
- I remember when I first read this book I was struck by how peaceful it made me feel. I can't access that peace all the time and so I'm learning to be ok with that. The book may appear quite simple compared to the intensive work that others might give you. I'm a huge fan of Martha Beck, Byron Katie and Eckhart Tolle--but what the Kanes have created here is a way to access your life as the "work" for you to do. Just live it and keep in mind the principles of how life unfolds: what you resist persists (watch and you'll see how it appears in your life), no two things can occupy the same place at the same time (so why waste a moment with complaint?), and anything you allow to be exactly as it is will complete itself (try it, the moment can't last forever so let it be what it wants to be--or else it persists).
I'm grateful for having found this book and the Kanes. Truly magical.

4 comments about Yes, Your Parents Are Crazy!: A Teen Survival Guide.
- In Yes, Your Parents Are Crazy!: A Teen Survival Guide, psychologist Michael Bradley draws upon his more than thirty years of experience and expertise to write this amazing sequel to his earlier book, Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy! Humorous cartoons add a lighthearted touch to the very solid advice, which has earned The National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval. Chapters deal with all sorts of issues touching aupon day-to-day life of parents and teens, from blended families to religion, internet issues, school attendance, abuse, and much more. Written in down-to-earth terms intended for and accessible to any teenager, In Yes, Your Parents Are Crazy! is a first-rate help for teens and parents alike.
- I'm just about finished with this as well as Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy. Both great books. I wish I had had this one growing up, it would have helped me a lot to not feel so alone and to learn about being true to myself in terms of discovering my own identity. I highly recommend this book for ANY teen. Doc Mike talks in today's teen lanquage about their world now and how to face its many, many challenges. Just can't say enough.
- My son saw my copy of "Yes, Your Teen is Crazy" (which was an excellent book by the same author.) I thought this book would be geared more towards teens--as I planned on giving it to my son to read--to understand why parents act the way they do. However, it was not written for a teenager. It was very similar to the "...Teen is Crazy" book.
- This book starts off with current knowledge about brain development in the teen years which serves to explain some of the intense emotions and the reputation for impulsive actions and sometimes poor judgement which teens have been tarred with. This develops into an attempt to show teens what the world and issues that relate to teens look like through parent's eyes as well as a call for empathy on the part of parents towards teens' limited perspective and state of brain development as well as the pressures on teens from their environment.
The reason for the title "Yes, your parents are crazy" is that Dr. Bradley uses stories of seemingly extreme and irrational behavior on the part of parents in dealing with some common teenage situations to explain that it (usually) comes from concern about what teens get exposed to and what it could cause them to do with their lives. He also tells teens that since parents are in a state of high emotion during a divorce, some of the "fallout" falls on them: that doesn't mean the parents don't love them but are so absorbed with their own concerns they don't think about how their actions affect others. A lesson to all of us. This book is as useful as or better than a lot of counselling. I recommend it for teens who do not have access to counselling or mental health services.
He also gives some tips to teens on how to communicate more effectively with their parents and negotiate with them towards increasing freedom and privilages. Bradley tells teens not to lie to their parents, but to make an effort to explain their actions fully and try to prove themselves responsible and trustworthy (unfortunately this did not work with my mother, whom I suspect truly _is_ crazy: I wish I knew what did).

5 comments about Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul: 101 Healing Stories About Those Who Have Survived Cancer.
- You won't find a lot of technical mumbo jumbo here, but what you will find is a beautifully written book of inspirational stories to soothe the cancer-ridden soul. I tend to shy away from anything that has "chicken soup" on the cover, but this was given by a colleague and I've treasured it. Great gift to newly-diagnosed loved ones and friends.
- I bought this book as a gift for a friend of mine who has cancer. She has been through quite an ordeal since her diagnosis 4 months ago and still has a long, difficult road ahead. I feared that she was losing hope and her spirits were low, so I gave this book to her. I didn't read it myself first, but after reading the reviews here, I was counting on this lifting her spirits.
She says it is so great to read positive stories for a change. She has been so bogged down with doctors and treatments, it was hard to see anything positive. She says this book has been a great help to her and made her realize that anything is possible.
- If you haven't read a Chicken Soup book buy one NOW. When you find one that fits your life it is inspirational and comforting to read. They definitely name this series correctly~It will comfort your soul while your read it.
I read this book when a loved one had Cancer. It helped kept me going one day at a time. Even tho his life was lost to Cancer I would recommend this read to anyone who's life has been touched by Cancer.

5 comments about Anatomy of a Food Addiction: The Brain Chemistry of Overeating: An Effective Program to Overcome Compulsive Eating (3rd Edition).
- Ironically, it was a negative comment written by another reviewer that told me this was the book for me! They had mentioned the author's prescription of abstinence from sugar and white flour products to stop the carvings. You see, I know firsthand that this is a necessary and extremely effective step in combating food cravings and the binges that characterize a food addiction. (By the way this is not an "Atkins like" diet in any way, shape or form - you are still allowed heatlhy whole grains, fruits etc.) I just didn't know WHY it worked for me. For more than a year, I abstained from eating white flour products, fruits and sugars due to actual food allergies and as a wonderful side effect, all of my cravings for and obsessive thoughts about these foods ceased completely. I was no longer driven to or dependent on food. However, because I wasn't aware of why I had been so dependent on food in the past, I allowed myself to have a slice of cake on my birthday which turned out to be a huge mistake. Bam! I was right back in and I haven't been able to abstain ever since. After reading this book, I uncovered the other more important and insidious reason for my inability to regain abstinence - namely, the emotional issues that drive me to food. This aspect of the book, is the most important of all. This book feels like it was written for me. I've had every thought, every feeling Dr. Katherine relates. Her writing exposes my inner life, a life I thought was mine alone but in reality most, if not all, overeaters share the same experiences! Do yourself, your body, your soul a favor and buy this book! Thank you Anne Katherine!
- If you want to understand why your eating habits are out of control, this is the book which explains it! This book has really helped me to understand why I am so addicted to sugar and flour, and explains how one needs to abstain from these foods. I still have to rely on O.A. in order to keep the motivation to eat properly, but I come back to this book on a regular basis to keep my mind focused on why I keep returning to bad eating habits and how I am not to blame. GREAT BOOK.
- I find this book very useful in understanding binge eating disorder. I think its very user - reader friendly and use is very often in therapy.
- Garbage. 98% of this book is pure, unadulterated, contradictory bull----. First, the author claims in Chapter 2 that food addiction is biological. Although she's got the basic science right, that chapter is SO badly-written that the author, apparently realizing that, felt the need to use another several pages to re-explain the whole thing all over again "in a simpler way" at the end of the same chapter. Slogging through Chapter 2 was akin to reading a third-grader's essay in which the student piece-mealed the information from various encyclopediae and other sources in bits and pieces, but didn't quite "get" it herself enough to write clearly or coherently.
In what seems to be an escape from scientific concepts she doesn't understand, the author then abandons the whole biological aspect for most of the rest of the book, and drifts off into useless psychobabble for chapter after unending chapter of self-indulgent pity-party-promotion.
Most of the other 15 chapters in this book are devoted to statements that the real cause of food addiction is an awful, deprived childhood filled with abusive and mean, neglectful, absent parents. According to Ms. Katherine, all food addicts got that way by being emotional basket cases and pathetic abused wrecks: "Sit back in a comfortable chair with a teddy bear or pillow. Wrap your arms around yourself and the bear or pillow. Close your eyes. Send yourself warm, loving thoughts. Give yourself some sympathy for how hard it's been to handle this difficult problem all by yourself." Or this: "When a child isn't held enough, she experiences a deficit. It's horrible then if the child is ridiculed, ignored, or hit for asking to be held. ... She then learns her need leads to pain and punishment and will likely aim her wrong interpretation against herself..."
It only gets much, much worse from there.
Inconsistent with her own early chapter about the bio factors in food addiction (which frankly she doesn't seem to quite understand herself), the author advocates STAGED abstinence - abstain from sugar for a full year, THEN begin abstinence from refined carbohydrates. Meanwhile, it's ok to eat more of other things as long as you're not eating the sugars. Oh, puhleeze!! This is like telling an alcoholic: "Ok, first you have to abstain from hard liquor for a year, but you can keep drinking beer and wine, even more of them if you need to. Meanwhile we'll discuss all the ways you were abused as a child. THEN you can stop drinking for real." Yeah, right.
Addiction is addiction, period. You are simply not going to deal with the biochemical processes involved in food addiction unless you eliminate the chemical triggers completely - ALL sugars, refined carbs, wheat, and high-fat foods.
This author's "plan" is tortuous and unrealistic. She discusses a conversation you are to have with family members, in which you are to state that you will not be capable of making decisions for at least 3 weeks after starting your sugar withdrawal. Hello? Stop real life, just like that, while you walk a cravings-crazy chemical tightrope of half-abstinent hell.
Don't waste your money on this book. Instead, get real information and real solutions from a true expert, someone like Kay Sheppard in Food Addiction: The Body Knows: Revised & Expanded Edition, and From the First Bite: A Complete Guide to Recovery from Food Addiction, in which the genetic tie-ins and biochemistry of food addiction are simply explained, and immediate total abstinence is recommended, along with providing a detailed, real, workable plan which really does work to eliminate cravings fast and promote clear thinking and recovery.
- I am a male in my early 40's and despite that the book was geared towards females, I thought the book was excellent. I could relate to just about everything she wrote about and agree with it. I was extremely pleased to discover this book, it help me understand the problem with food addiction. I got a lot out of the book, it was worth the small price, even if you got just a one or two little thoughts out of it.

5 comments about Reallionaire: Nine Steps to Becoming Rich from the Inside Out.
- I was truly inspired by this young man. I was intrigued, as my youngest son displays a lot of these attributes and has been telling me since age 5 or 6 that he's going to be rich. After reading this young mans story I just had to pass it along to my son, just to remind him that his goals and dreams are reachable, that no idea is a bad idea. Thank you Farrah for bringing the message home.
- I purchased this book for my son after seeing Farrah on TV a while back. He was very impressive during the interview. I bought the book in hopes that my son who was 11 at the time would actually read it. To my surprise, he blew threw it and told me that it was his favorite book. With that endorsement, I would recommend other young men to read the book as well. Good food for the soul.
- OK, I'm not tryin' to hate but it seems that if you are not a cute, very ambitious 8-year old who happens upon a mentor with the desire and the resources to help you out, then this book is just a heart-warming, rags-to-riches story, period. This is more of a "how it happened to me" than a "how to" book. I am pleased to see what can happen when intense, focused desire is aimed in a positive direction...and glad that he is reaching back to help others.
- Say this kid speak at a Conference. He is a nice guy and appears to be pretty well grounded.
However, this book stinks. I bought it thinking I could share it with the youth group I'm involved with. Thought it may be interesting. The book is a major bore. A Sleepeer. Picked it up several time thinking it would get better and more interesting, but no substance ever evolved in the chapters. Do not waste your energy or time on this book!
- Visionaire - to follow your vision to become a millionaire (at any age) - now that's real. Farrah is an inspiration and I can directly relate to the story. Great book, it's not all about the money but being the best person you can be, learning and growing along the way. Motivation gets you going but Determination see's you thru...
Highly Recommended...!

3 comments about Emotional Sobriety: From Relationship Trauma to Resilience and Balance.
- Once again, Dr. Dayton has hit the nail on the head. Her writing and insights are always fresh, understandable and practical. She visits and revisits challenging situations with specific, useful guidance for dealing with very complicated emotional issues. I will be adding this one to my collection of her earlier work.
- Thank God for Tian Dayton! Now I have an understanding of how my life has been and a language to describe it. I am relieved and renewed - something I hadn't thought possible. What a gift! I can't recommend this book highly enough - it's clear, concise, compassionate. And life changing! Thank you so much for this wonderful, original work.
- Awesome, awesome book! The author starts by explaining the way our brains and bodies work, and the way our emotions by-pass the thinking part of the brain, and go to our instinctive survival parts of the brain. She explains how we have body memories of suppressed emotions, and why, when we have been through relationship trauma, we store the pain in our bodies and it causes us to self-medicate with activities or substances that chemically help us to deal with it. With kindness, compassion, and solid factual information, she explains what's going on inside of us, below the surface, and steps to take to release the pain, reframe our thinking, and become whole again. The last part of the book focuses on constructive steps to release pain, retrain ourselves to respond differently, and ways to accomplish the same pleasure and self-nurture that we were seeking, but how to do it in healthy, life-affirming ways. It's a blend of research and information, years and years of experience, and a kind, beautifully written coaching to renew and restore and grow into the person we were meant to be. The tone is respectful, informative, concrete, specific, and hopeful. Reading it was a journey. So rich that I decided after I returned it to the library that I needed to own my own copy. I have never read anything by her before, so I don't know if there are any overlaps, but it's one of the most helpful I have read.

5 comments about The Portable Coach: 28 Sure Fire Strategies For Business And Personal Success.
- Most of us know the things in life that are preventing us from reaching our true potential. Then again, some of us simply don't care. However, after reading this highly informative book, I discovered that there are a few areas in life that required attention - absurdly simple areas, such as basics for caring for one and one's home and possessions. It astonishes how a dirty car, a non-existent filing system and a messy cloths closet can have such a negative affect on one's life. Thomas Leonard brings these apparently non-important basics to your attention and coaches in a friendly manner, gently instructing us to do something about it.
The text offers 28 strategies in 28 chapters, including numerous tests that help you to reflect on your current state or condition, and simple step-by-step guidelines to change your current condition for the better. The key notion in his strategy is to make oneself more attractive by living a fulfilling life. Rather than `strive' and `hard sell' your way to success, his method is more along the lines of taking the path of least resistance - that by being aware and sensitive to oneself and one's environment, you create an attitude of mind where living and success becomes almost effortless. His method more or less has a Zen quality to it - surrendering to the Tao and moving through life in a natural way. In other words, by attaining clarity of mind, one is more in a position to recognize opportunities when they present themselves, and because we have become more ourselves and in-flow with our environment, good things will happen. Put in other terms; remove the physical and emotional clutter in your life, thereby creating the space for success to occur. It is impossible for a single self-help book to be the answer for everybody. Though Leonard has an approachable method covering general areas that most of us experience and have trouble with from time to time. If anything, it could well bring your attention to areas that you thought were under control and moving smoothly and are not. This book is worth having a look at...
- I first bought this book three years ago at a Coaching Tour stop in Denver. The late Thomas Leonard signed my copy, making it a treasure in more ways than one.
The primary way it is a treasure is that it is exceptionally useful both as a personal growth tool and also as a book to work through with the folks who I am privileged to coach. The writing is conversational and not filled with jargon. It is destined to be a classic, even moreso with the untimely, way to early death of the author.
- If you can get through the first chapter on "selfishness," this book really does have a lot to offer. Using charged words like "become incredibly selfish" and absolutes like "tolerate nothing" was an integral part of Leonard's in-your-face, we-don't-have-time-for-you-not-to-get-this style. So many of us in the professional coaching industry have been touched by Leonard. We owe him a big debt of gratitude for making the profession of "coaching" the big opportunity it is for us today. This book is a good legacy to the man, as well as to what he thought was important for us to understand in our lives and in the lives of our clients.
- I have been presenting business & personal development workshops since 1987 focusing primarily on small business women and families. I only found Thomas Leonard because my girlfriend Nancy spoke so highly of him. Looked him up, purchased the book and realized I have used the many strategies he suggested for the workshops I conduct. I believe this book is the ONE that should be on every person list to purchase and apply. He offers step by step proven, simple practices to move your life forward and manage your living. This is the road map to peace, happiness, abundance and more!
- I started re-reading this lately. It was my first coaching book and like many others, Thomas Leonard was the first to introduce me to coaching. These strategies are good across the board for business and life coaching. It's a great reference tool to this day. A good addition to any coaching library.
