5 comments about Secrets of Attraction: The Universal Laws of Love, Sex and Romance.
  1. Life seems to get harder, but with the information in this book you can take control and change your life around for the better. Rarely does a book deliver what it advertises. This is one book you can count on to improve those areas in your life needing attention. I found this book to be easy to read while giving practical solutions that are easily applied to every day life. I found the suggestions in this book helped me find ways to improve my relationships. Now more than ever we need positive alternatives to augment our relationships, Sandra Taylor's book delivers on all counts. I cannot recommend it enough.

  2. I like this book, it gives alot of hope and optimisim to ones life.
It helped me look at myself in a different way, positivte for sure.
The life stories or other people's experiences mentioned in the book many people can relate to, including myself. Very well written, I almost spent a whole weekend on it. I just have one comment regarding the medetitation part mentioned I hoped it was more elaborated because I believe it is very important to practice meditation in this stressfull life of ours.
Overall this is a very good book. I recommend it to all.
I reached chapter 11, few more to go :-)

  3. I have bought many copies of this book for family and friends. It is wonderful and has really worked in my life and my friends. I recommend this book to many of my patients.

  4. This book is what I hoped for, and even more!
It teaches you the ways to bring love into your life, and enjoy happiness and fulfilling relationships, step by step! And above all, it teaches you that you must find love inside yourself first, in order to experience the love of others!
    I definitely recommend it!

  5. Sandra Anne Taylor has most certainly written an exceptional book here.

Delves deeply into such topics as energetic truth, pleasure gap, & paradoxical intent etc. as is relevant to relationship & romance.

Truely expands your understanding & ability to manifest the life of your dreams.

    Another highly recommended book,

'NEXUS' by Deborah Morrison & Arvind Singh, a thought-provoking and inspirational novel about a psychological/spiritual journey.

5 comments about From the First Bite: A Complete Guide to Recovery from Food Addiction.
  1. I have been a food addict for years now, and I was looking for a step-by-step recovery plan to help me. This book is terrible and the suggestions are completely ridiculous. For example, Kay Sheppard says not to use iodized salt because it contains sugar. This is blatantly untrue--check the label of any salt container yourself. Furthermore, her "abstinent" meal plan recipes include potato salad and blueberry muffins--total binge foods for just about anyone!

  2. It's obvious that all these glowing reviews are by a small band of loyal groupies from the Kay Sheppard Yahoo group.

It's about time to start asking some questions here. Like, if Kay Sheppard is an "expert", then where did she get her training? What university? Where is her research? Where was it conducted? What exactly do these so-called credentials she uses mean? Where is ANY science to back up or give credence to anything she states? If you can't eat white rice, but you can eat white potatoes, where in the science of biochemistry does that seeming contradiction support itself?

The book and the entire premise that it's based on is entirely made up out of folk lore, oral tradition, junk science and food quackery, and it capitalizes on the sad and lonely search for something, anything, to help dysfunctional eaters stop eating destructively.

For all the book's claims, there is zero evidence that the 'food plan' works, or that any statistically relevant number of people ever achieve "abstinence" beyond short and sporadic episodes. Since Sheppard has no peer-reviewed research or any documentated legitimacy to the claims promoted by the book, it has to go to the same junk pile that every other diet book goes.

  3. I have been a binge eater for years, I have read this book from beginning to end, I have science/medical coursework as part of my education, and I have used this as my plan of eating. Given all that, I believe that this is a valuable book for anyone who is desperate to find a better way than living with food addiction/compulsive overeating/binge eating.

To be fair, it's really better that you do read Kay's other "The Body Knows" book to fully know what kinds of food issues she is directly addressing with this book - this book is the "what to do", the other book is more the "why". If you don't know why you're doing something, you're not going to be motivated; unless, of course, nothing else has worked and you're willing to try anything. In any event, it is a plan based on sound nutrition that is formulated to fix your mind while you fix your physical/chemical issues with food.

Not everyone who has food issues has to cut out everything that Kay suggests. That said, if you work this plan AS WRITTEN, you'll more than likely remove all of your trigger foods, remove the mental dance around volume eating and gorging, and actually eat healthy. More than that, you'll change your lifestyle, which is what most health experts say you need to do anyway.

So if something else works well for you, I'm very happy for you - congratulations! But if you've suffered from food addiction and issues surrounding compulsive eating and/or binge eating, then try this program for 90 days. If you're not completely satisfied, your misery will be fully refunded.

  4. Oh my God! What can I say about this book. Kay's first book is a good introduction to the Food Addiction subject but From the First Bite is much more than a complement. Is a must have if you related to Food Addiction. Everytime I read it, and I read it all the time like a survival of life kind of book, I feel renewed and strong enough to continue with my new way of eating and of life. Everyday I feel recovered from a disease that had devastated me. I am so thankful that a book like this one came to my attention. I am even thankful with Amazon for making it easy for me to have it!!! Thanks Kay Sheppard reading your words is getting hugs, love and approval on a regular basis.

  5. This book opened my eyes to realize I had a Disease and that I was not crazy. I realize that it wasn't because I didn't posess the willpower to conquer a diet program and win, it explains so well how the disease progresses eventually to death. No one wants to be called an "Addict" that sounds so harsh. But in reality, it is a matter of LIFE or DEATH. Very in depth to the truth of food addiction with a plan of recovery and hope for the "hopeless"

5 comments about The Highly Sensitive Person's Survival Guide: Essential Skills for Living Well in an Overstimulating World (Step-By-Step Guides).
  1. Dr. Zeff has given me the skills I need to manage my sensitivity. His book includes relaxation techniques, getting proper nutrition and exercise for the sensitive person as well as the importance of having adequate "downtime." He shows how to align the mind, body and soul for inner-peace. He also includes practical information for coping at work and in relationships for the HSP. I now realize that I have a choice in life and don't have to be swept away by the currents of our stressed out culture. Thank you Dr. Zeff!

  2. Although this may not be the major work on this topic, this author writes plainly and could even be seen to provide comfort for individuals dealing with high sensitivity. Many students entering adolescence, especially young men, cannot succeed in our large, demanding, overcrowded classrooms and this is the book to give them. Maybe even sit down with them and help them to understand that the combination of what they can control (their diet, amount of intense TV, video games they consume) and what they cannot (school lighting, crowded classrooms, demanding teachers) there is a balance in which they can find success. Highly recommended for parents and teens w/ ADD/ADHD.

  3. I was hoping to find "new, practical coping strategies" as quoted by Elaine Aron. This was just recycled holistic/new-age fodder. Granted, some of the suggestions are worthwhile, but I doubt there's anyone who hasn't heard of them many times before. Well, maybe, if people are taking the advice to avoid media like the plague!

As another reviewer mentioned, this book encourages a victim mentality. "Ooo, I'm so sensitive," doesn't work in the real world. We can't all get special treatment (this isn't a disability; ADA doesn't apply to HSP's), and we can't just up and move necessarily, or befriend every jerk. Barney's, "I love you; you love me...." just doesn't work with all people!

I know what I need to do to take care of myself, and I imagine most HSP's have figured this out by trial and error.

I give it a big DUH.

  4. People who are highly sensitive get a bum rap. They are blamed for their "OVER-sensitivity". As someone married to a highly sensitive person, I have been one of the blamers. Ted Zeff has produced a work that welcomes the highly sensitive person as a valued member of the human race, with priceless gifts to share with those of us who are less sensitive. This book contributes to the full appreciation of the great diversity that makes up our human family.

  5. Extremely insightful information to help those who are highly sensitive and provide tools for self-adjusting and coping. Also excellent resource for family, friends, colleagues to understand these unique people and improve relationships.

5 comments about Unstoppable: 45 Powerful Stories of Perseverance and Triumph from People Just Like You.
  1. There are many touching stories of achievement over adversity and a number of helps and ideas for others who also wish to succeed. She shows that anyone who is willing to work hard and persevere can also succeed even people who come from poverty. Everyone should read this book.

  2. Sure fire access to stories of brilliant minds of today and yesterday. There is no stopping anyone of us to become unstoppable but "ourselves". Fact that many of us are guilty of. I had an opportunity to meet Cynthia last spring in LA and she is truly walking her talk. What an inspiring lady she is. This book will give you step-by-step guide to go for the gusto!

    Jhet Torcelino van Ruyven
Author, The Tale Of Juliet - You Have The Power to Change Your Life

  3. This is a great book for various reasons and worth buying for each one.

If you are an individual who doesn't feel completely motivated in certain or any aspects of your life, this book will show you, through real life people just like you, that you can change yourself and accomplish things you perhaps previously thought impossible. If you are the type of person who is already a self-motivator, each of the stories will only provide more support from which to draw. These really are amazing and inspirational stories; they are fascinating from both a "self-help" perspective as well as just plain enjoyable to read.

Even though the book is 300+ pages long it is a fast read; each story takes just a few minutes to read. I found myself reading much more at one sitting than I typically would, primarily because I was so interested to hear what the next story was about!

The only somewhat annoying part of the book (to me, many of you will likely agree with the author) came somewhere in the middle. The author states that part of being unstoppable is to "Acknowledge that God is with you and nothing can defeat you" and to "Believe that you receive power from your Creator....and your faith will deepen." I've always been somewhat annoyed, while respectful of what they are trying to accomplish, by the people who knock on my door trying to get me to go to their church. Everyone is completely entitled to their own beliefs, and I personally come from the "church" of Darwin. The section about faith and God was slightly irritating to me, like the people who knock on my door. Other than that small detail, a fantastic book.

  4. This book is very inspiring and motivating. I was able to relate to the stories of the women entrepreneurs such as the one about Maria Elena Ibanez. She showed courage, persistance and wit as she conquered a male dominated industry.

  5. Book arrived timely and in excellant condition. I would definitely purchase from this person any time.

  1. If you're a fan of Wayne Dyer and Marianne Williamson or you haven't ever heard of them, you'll love the combination of their inspirational advice, wit and insight into life. I have a vast library of cds that I listen to in the car and this is one of the top!

  2. Both are well versed in spirituality. This audio program ties together some of their latest teaching principles. Highly recommended for those who are looking for positive reinforcement as aid in overcoming life's obstacles and we all have them.

  3. I am a loyal fan of both Dr. Dyer & Marianne Williamson. This Cd is one of their wonderful collaberations. It's a true "Good Feeling" audio set. These two peeople have set me on a purposeful path for my life. I have both of their collections of Cds & books. I would recommend this an any other Cds by those two authors.

  4. I enjoyed the lecture Wayne Dyer gave, but was extremelly disappointed with Marianne Williamson lecture.

  5. Live lecture, sound not so great, his recorded laboured breathing was very very off putting, love Wayne Dyer, but this is not a good one.
I listen to staying on the path, almost every day.
Will only ever listen to this once. The asking people in the audience to break there anonymity in alcohlics anonymous,to prove a point he was making and "pleading" with people to do the Tao, was all a bit, hard to say but disappointing and not very enriching or advancing
Marinne,,,, "well lets all just take a deep breath and imagine a ball of golden light",,,, please God rescue me from the bad feelings that i paid moneY to listen to something that started like that,,,,,

5 comments about The Platinum Rule: Discover the Four Basic Business Personalities and How They Can Lead You to Success.
  1. This book gives the student of human persuasion something to think about. Although not discovered by the authors, they outline four distinct personality styles. Knowing the style of your customer is a great advantage. They give numerous examples and insights on how to talk to and interact with the various styles. These examples and insights are very useful for a salesperson.

If you want to understand others first understand you. This work assists you in understanding what style personality you are. After understanding where you are coming from, you begin to understand where other people are coming from. This makes you an excellent communicator.

One of the most difficult areas of personal selling is figuring out what the customer really wants. This endeavor needs good communication skills on the part of the sales representative. Opening a window of communication with the customer is critical. And, you don't want the window to close when you have your neck out the window talking with the customer. Understanding how certain customers think about the world and other humans, helps with this window of communication. The authors give specific examples of how to talk to each personality style and what types of behaviors to expect.

The book is practical and the reader is immediately able to go from book to the field and use the techniques. If you are in the sales trade study this book. But we all need to sell ourselves and thinking about the techniques and concepts of this work will benefit anyone.

  2. The Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," is an excellent rule for ethical treatment of others. The Platinum Rule: "Do unto others as they prefer to be done unto," is an excellent rule for communicating with people in all kinds of environments.

Tony Alessandra and Michael O'Connor have written an excellent book similar to lots of other books that are out there. All the books and systems are based on the same Jungian Psychology of Personality Types.

You'll hear these different systems under a variety of names. You'll hear them as personality types or social styles or other things.

The most complex and best document of all of these is the Myers Briggs Type Inventory. It uses four dimensions to create sixteen basic personality types. Most of the social style systems are a bit simpler. They use two dimensions to create four personality types.

In my supervisory training and in using this material myself, I found that the MBTI is much more effective and nuanced in terms of analysis. But, I found that the social style systems are more likely to be used, and used effectively, when communicating in a social or business setting.

Essentially, you learn two things from any of these systems. You learn, first of all, how you tend to communicate, and what you value. Do you communicate directly or indirectly? Are you focused on the mission to be accomplished or on the relationship with the person you're communicating with?

The basic social style structure then shows you how to figure out what styles other people may use and a few other important things. You can learn how what you do can be very ineffective with some other people. And, you can use some things you can do differently to make your communication more effective.

There is a third advantage to this material if you are applying it in a work group where everybody uses the same material. That advantage is that this material will give you a common language for describing many types of communications in supervisory situations.

All of that is true for all the material that's out there on social styles. I think this is the best book, though.

What Alessandra and O'Connor have done that is different from others is they have given you the ability to use a very simple and rough-cut method and then also the ability to go deeper into more variance of style. It's almost like getting the best of the more complex instruments in with the simpler ones.

I've been using varieties of this material for almost thirty years in supervisory skills training. I've found that just about all of the reputable systems are first rate. But, you should buy this book if you want one solid insight and reference source to help you do more effective communicating.

  3. Provides a fundamental understanding of the diverse personalities that we deal with on a day-to-day basis and how each individual has at least 2 of the 4 which cross depending on the circumstances or situations. Creates a less stressful and less frustrating frame of mind when dealing with conflict or differences.

  4. The premise is simple: "Do unto others as they'd like done unto them."

The classic "Golden Rule" involves a perspective bias, the implicit selfishness of which can and will wreck your interactions with others. Even if you think you have the very best intentions, you'll unwittingly sabotage your objectives. By learning and applying the "Platinum Rule," you'll greatly improve the quality and effectiveness of your interactions with others.

So, how do you know what others would like do unto them? Ask them! Seriously, that's of course a necessary part, but the authors give very thorough treatment of the subject so the reader will know how to step into the worlds of others. They describe and discuss the four basic personality types and impart valuable knowledge about numerous blends of multiple types:

    * Directors
    * Relaters
    * Socializers
    * Thinkers

    The book features twelve chapters:

    1. Has the Golden Rule Lost its Glitter?
    2. Getting to Know the Four Basic Styles
    3. How to Tell Where You Fit In
    4. The Key to Getting a Quick Handle on Anybody
    5. How the Read the Mixed Styles
    6. Coping Productively with the Other Styles
    7. How to Adapt to Anyone...and Retain Your Own Identity
    8. Using Individual Differences to Bring Out the Best in Groups
    9. Creating a High-Performance Leadership Style
    10. How to Sell by Style
    11. Providing Service with Style
    12. Changing the Rest of Your Life by Creating Positive Relationships

Each is excellent. Two quick examples of things that particularly resonated with me:

    * Great discussion and example of the meaning and importance of adaptability (Ch. 7, pp. 131-133)
    * Striking example and analysis of a sales environment and the ramifications of not fitting your sales style to the customer

This book is easy to read, practical, and powerful. I think everybody would benefit from reading and therefore highly recommend it to anyone.

  5. Great book. I use the concept all the time in my presentations and in my team's work. We have systems in place to approach the four different personality types and this book started that entire thought-process. Fantastic book! The current generation, the Generosity Generation, doesn't just want customer service, the members of this generation want a personalized EXPERIENCE. Read this book to open your eyes to how to provide that experience.

5 comments about The Richest Man in Babylon: Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century.
  1. An easy read, interesting story, excellent advice.

My wife and I have read it and will pass it on to our son. I will buy copies for several friends

  2. This book was recommended to me by a professional in the finance industry that I regard very highly.
But I could not find the book too useful. The info you get reading it is good for a child who needs to learn to save. Not that we, adults do that, but at least we know that! And then, the author just repeats the same idea over and over again, with different characters.
And I found the whole 'gold lender' paradigm soooooo outdated and unpractical!
Overall, a total no for an adult, a yes for a child.

  3. I have read a lot of finance books by a lot of different authors: Bach, Chatzky, Orman, Kiyosaki just to name a few, but the "Richest Man in Babylon" is the simplest, most clear cut. It also has the least ego (thank you Eckhart Tolle). Simple is good in my case. I don't like a lot of fancy words clouding my understanding of finance. Clason repeats what a lot of other finance experts say, but the difference is that Clason said it first. So he wins. And the book is short.

The "Thou"s and "thy"s are a bit silly and annoying, I admit--but you get used to it and after a while--it's fun. The financial basics told thru parables (i.e. bible-esque tales). I read a few parts out loud to my husband and he was cracking up.

Richest Man in Babylon in a Nutshell:

Pay yourself 1st: Save 10% of your income.
Pay your debtors: 20% of your income
Live off 70% of your income.

7 Cures for a lean purse:
1st CURE: Start thy purse to fattening.
Save 10 % of what you earn.

    2nd CURE: Control thy expenditures.
    Budget your income.

3rd CURE: Make thy gold multiply.
    Invest

4th CURE: Guard thy treasures from loss.
Study your investments to reduce risk. Make sure you are FDIC insured.

5th CURE: Make of thy dwelling a profitable investment.
    Own your home.

6th CURE: Insure a future income.
    Invest for old age.

7th CURE: Increase thy ability to earn.
Acquire education and experience to increase income.

Fave quote: A part of all I earn is mine to keep.

If you loved it: Think and Grow Rich, The Automatic Millionaire

If you hated it: Rich Dad Poor Dad

  4. Great words of wisdom made even more beneficial by the revision/updates for the 21st century. Always a great read, time after time.

  5. I highly recommend the AUDIO MP3 version of the Richest Man in Babylon The Richest Man in Babylon

5 comments about Indigo Dreams: Garden of Wellness Stories And Techniques Designed to Decrease Stress, Anger, Anxiety While Promoting Self-esteem ages 5-10 (Indigo Dreams).
  1. My eleven year old son's ADHD Doctor recommended Lori Lite's relaxation techniques to help my son relax so he could sleep. I purchased the book A Boy and A Bear as well as the Indigo Dreams: Relaxation and Stress Management Bedtime Stories and Indigo Dreams: Garden of Wellness Stories and Techniques Designed to Decrease Bullying, Anger, Anxiety & Obesity, While Promoting Self-esteem & Healthy... CDs. Of the three products I purchased the Garden of Wellness is the CD my son picks to listen to every night. It is his favorite.
Many nights my son would still be awake at midnight distraught that he could not get to sleep, because he was unable to quiet his mind and body. The last two weeks I have seen a change in my son for the positive. He has yet to hear the end of the CD because he is asleep before the CD ends. His anger has diminished; his dread of going to school has diminished; his self-consciousness of being different has also diminished. The Garden of Wellness CD has truly helped my son on many levels of his life and I am truly grateful to Lori Lite.
I must also add the CDs have been very beneficial for me also and the children I work with on a daily bases. The two CDs and the book have helped all our lives become much more peaceful!

  2. I originally bought for my daughter who has some anxiety and anger issues. After listening to the CD she was practicing some of the techniques and understanding their values, I listened to the CD myself this morning and I can see why she was so positive about it! Also there is the "Light Shield" technique in which children learn to imagine an inner light shield to protect themselves from external situations where others may be making them uncomfortable emotionally. This has also help her to deal with 2 deaths close to her in our family!

  3. I bought this for my six year old son who has difficulty handling frustration, and sometimes has a hard time getting to sleep. He absolutely LOVES the stories on the cd, the only problem is there are only two stories. The rest of the cd talks about ways to cope with negative feelings, which were mentioned in the previous stories, and then there are a few tracks of music. My son ends up listening to only 1/4 of the cd. The stories are entertaining, but he's missing out on learning the strategies. What should have been done was to incorporate more of the instruction of the coping strategies within the body of the stories. I may eventually buy the other cd's because the stories help to keep him in bed and feeling content, but I cringe at the idea of paying money, to then use only a portion of what I paid for.

  4. I bought this for my eight year old to relax her and decrease her anxiety before bed. She is used to listening to soothing music before she falls asleep. She said the stories caused her to " stay awake" rather than fall asleep, because she had to hear the end! She said the stories were " too drawn out and repeated themselves." ( yes, her words!) My suggestion would be to alternate a story with soothing music, that way after one story they could fall asleep to the music. Then the next night they could choose a different story to fall asleep by. All the stories together is too long.( she can't stay up that late!) I did listen to the stories and felt like they were well written. The alternation with music would be better though. She does love the soothing song at the end!

  5. My daughter really loves the "Garden" cd. She has enjoyed all the Indigo Dreams in fact. She gets the message too. I found her talking w/her Nana about the music and how relaxed she feels.

5 comments about Enzymes for Autism and Other Neurological Conditions (Updated Third Edition).
  1. I bought this book because my son has mild Asperger's Syndrome. I had already discovered that vitamins B6 and B3 (niacin) work better for his anxiety than zoloft, so I expected to learn more along the same lines from this book. I had no idea that yeast overgrowth (dysbiosis) caused leaky gut syndrome which results in neurological disorders in the young (which continues throughout their lives) and all kinds of other autoimmune disorders in older people. I made the connection that my lifelong shyness, 4 years of constant yeast infections and 10 years of worsening joint inflammation were caused by dysbiosis when I read this book. I bought the enzymes for my son to take with meals, but he wouldn't take them, so I tried them myself and in two days my hips weren't sore. They had been throbbing constantly for the past year and I assumed that I would have to be on anti-anflammatory meds for life, which I was resisting. So, we are both treating for candida yeast overgrowth and building up our probiotics. I might try again to get him to take the enzymes, but the probiotics produce some results also. Without the enzymes, it will take many months to see the results that we could have if he took the enzymes now.
This book doesn't cover all aspects of yeast kill, but neither do most of the other books and websites that I've read. I've learned something new from each source. I highly recommend this book as an excellent start for correcting your dysbiosis including products to use, daily maintenance and a timeline. This author could revamp the book to cover B vitamin deficiencies (B vitamins secrete from our beneficial bacteria which is compromised by the dysbiosis) and mention all auto-immune disorders and re-title it: Enzymes for Autism and Other Neurological Disorders plus Over 5,000 Diseases, Syndromes and Symptoms.
I would also like to mention that congress is on the side of pharmaceutical corporations which have deep pockets and lots of lobbyists to ensure the sales of their products. If the public were well aware of the magnitude of yeast overgrowth and its results so that we could treat the cause and not have to medicate the symptoms of all of these diseases, they would lose billions of dollars in revenue! They know this and they are attempting to eliminate their competition. They have attempted, through the FDA, to make manufacturing requirements so strict for nutritional supplements that it would put alot of companies out of business. Most politicians aren't aware of their real reasons for this. We have to be watchdogs about this, especially with so many of our leaders on the side of government-controlled medicine, it seems logical that government-controlled nutritional supplements would follow if the FDA is pushing it.

  2. This book didn't meet our needs. There wasn't much new information that we hadn't gotten in other sources.

  3. A good resource and a great book, but this is alot of information. I would recommend getting this book if you are interested in learning more about enzymes and autism but not doing anything without your child's Dr.s advice. Enzymes are not a "cure all" to autism, as all children with autism are different. Many venues must be investigated and discussed with your MD to find the program that is best for your child.

  4. I happened upon this book by accident but could not be more grateful for that accident. My son is 2 1/2 years old. He has MANY sensory issues (he is a sensory seeker), he also has apraxia of speech and autistic tendencies. He has been on the GFCF diet for over two months. It helped somewhat, but the diet is so expensive and stressful that I was very open to the idea of an alternative to that.
My son has been on the enzymes for almost one month now and he has BLOSSOMED! His sensory issues are almost non-existent---and this was a child whose sensory issues seemed to control him. His speech has tripled and he is much more open to trying to say new words and is open more to seated activities such as reading, puzzles and play-doh. He stays still for much longer periods of time. His eye contact was always pretty good but now it is fantastic. He is even calling me Mama for the first time ever....if you have a two+ year old who has never called you Mama or Mommy, you come to be desperate for that...let me just tell you it has been music to my ears. He is better at identifying pictures. He even pointed to a picture of me and said "Mama" without any prompting.
My son is in speech, occupational and developmental therapies, mostly b/c of his sensory issues. After three weeks on the enzymes, his speech therapist said to me, "you have a new boy on your hands". She and the OT both were shocked at how calm he was, how attentive he was to calm activities. He no longer needed to "crash and burn" during therapy, but could transition from one activity to the next with ease. A child who used to tantrum if he had to leave the sensory room was now requesting to leave halfway through the session in order to go back to the speech therapist's room!
I will be forever grateful to the author of this book and to the previous reviewers that steered me towards this book. My son is a different boy who has even been able to incorporate some wheat back into his diet without any repurcussions. It is so exciting to look towards the future to see what doors these enzymes will open for my soon. I simply cannot say enough positive things about this book. It has forever changed our lives as it continues to heal his leaky gut.
If you have a child with gut issues (chronic diarrhea---my son had this and it is now gone!), speech issues, and especially sensory issues, please take the time to read this book!!!!

  1. I stumbled on to Alan Wolfelt's books while browsing around at my local bookstore. His books on grieving really hit the spot and offer wonderful suggestions for teens, children and adults. There are books for caregivers and for those grieving as well.

  2. Wolfelt has written this book in an easy-read format, making it not only easy to pick up and thumb through, but the bulletted pages make it easier for teens to read. As a School Social Work intern, the activities listed on the bottom of each page are excellent sources of ideas for use with students with whom I work.

  3. This book is wonderful. My son passed away at the age of 24 and my 15 year old daughter was finding it hard to find her way through this difficult grieving process. The book touched upon so many important and pertinent facts such as your grief is unique, just like your relationship to the person you lost is unique. Whether it's the loss of a sibling, parent, grandparent or other person in a teen's life, I think this book really addresses many of the issues that teens are concerned with when dealing with a loss in their lives.

  4. The book will be very helpful in working with students who are dealing with grief issues. On hands projects with students are proven to be very helpful tools to empower students and decrease their feelings of helplessness.
