2 comments about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Workbook For Dummies (For Dummies (Psychology & Self Help)).
- Just reviewing this book had me interested. Once I got into the first section, I realized that this book would be a great reference. The exercises really make you think. You know you'd be fooling yourself if you would just put anythin down. Analysing those many parts of your behavior is such a challenge!! Take them to your therapist and together you can tackle your issues. This book is great for getting those thoughts and behaviors up front.
This isn't for dummies. Admitting you need help and taking action is not a dumb idea. Their explaination does make things easier to understand. No technical talk (that would make anybody confused).
Read this book. Get those issues out and on paper. Take them to your therapist. It's been working well for me.
- Great book- lots of good examples and worksheets to use. Text is easy-to-read and information included is relevant. Could have been improved by including more worksheets on specific problems, e.g. anger management (expanding coverage) and by having larger-sized A4 worksheets, not small versions in table form as there is limited space to write (better resources).

5 comments about Becoming Orgasmic: A Sexual and Personal Growth Program for Women.
- I got this book hoping it would have some new insight and excersises to help me reach orgasm more frequently with my lover. However, I soon discovered everything in the book had already been thought of. You see, this book is aimed at women who have NEVER ever had an orgasm before in their lives, at women who are afraid to look at or touch themselves, at extremely religious couples who need to be TOLD to loosen up, and so forth. It just wasn't for me, and it isn't for most of you who are seeking more fulfillment in your sex lives. Secondly, the illustrations are drawn by a man, and they look more like bimbo models. I'm sure he enjoyed being paid to draw masturbating women. The pictures are not helpful, they're offensive.
- What I appreciated most about this book was that it was NOT pornography in disguise. Most sexual 'how to' and self help books can be quite degrading, graphic, or base. This is a text book. These two doctors know their stuff and went to great lenghts to write medically accurate and proffionally. (Still, I got a giggle that the doctor's last name is Heiman.)
I like the fact that this book doesn't have a right way, only way, or quick fix formula. It helps one explore all possiblities for sexual dysfunction and helps the woman better unstand her dysfunction. The tone of this book is very encourageing- just what women need to hear, that your problem does not isolate you or make you different. My doctor reccomended this book to me. I reccomend it to you.
- What I liked best about this book, was it was not pornography in disguise. So many sex "self-help" books boarder on the inapproptiate. But not this one. The language was respectful and diagrams tasteful.
"Becoming Orgasmic" is very professionally written by doctors, with a lot of clinical research, both their own and by others. What I appriciated was that the doctors did not present a quick-fix, one size fits all solution. This book is meant to help a woman heal herself. THe book stayed respectful and lets the woman that she is not alone and that her dyfunction does not make her weird or strange. This workbook was recommended to me by a doctor and I recommend it to you.
- For all those women out there who think there's something wrong with them... chances are there's NOT!!!
This book is thoroughly helpful. I was almost at the point of giving up hope altogether... then I purchased this book on a whim, after reading a recommendation of it by an on-line sex therapist. Let me say I have NO regrets!! It was one of the best buys of my life. The style is easy to understand and the tone is compassionate; but it is not patronizing, like some other self-help books can be. On the contrary, I found it to be quite educational. I have learnt a great deal about relationships and dealing with my emotional baggage, in addition to all the detailed stuff about my physiology and how to press the right buttons. On the whole, this book has boosted my confidence in the bedroom ten-fold. To anyone who has problems achieving the big 'O', I couldn't recommend it more. Ten thumbs up!
- This book helped me immensely. I bought the book about 7 years ago. Before I read and followed this book, I thought I would be "faking it" my whole life. I doubt I would have figured out how to acheive "it" if I hadn't read this. I highly recommend it to any woman who just doesn't get it when it comes to orgasm and you feel like you're the only one! This book can truly help you.

5 comments about Help Your Teenager Beat an Eating Disorder.
- This book gave my husband and I a much needed understanding of this complicated disease. Nothing else was as clear and helpful.
- I found this book extremely helpful. It is very easy to understand and provides key information to helping teenagers recover from eating disorders using a new approach that includes parents and other family members supporting strategies to recovery,
- Of the books I've read about eating disorders, this is probably the most informative one regarding explanations of what eating disorders are. This is an excellent resource for anyone with a young child or teenager with an eating disorder. I did find their advice about leaving your job to stay home with your child or going to their school to eat with them to be a bit impractical, but overall think the book is a valuable resource.
- This book is such a relief!! Unlike other books that go on and on about what eating disorders are and their causes and types and so on, this book actually tells you how to act. It tells you exactly how to deal with your teenager and how to behave around them.
- This book is an excellent resource for both parents and clinicians. I am a marriage and family therapist and often work with adolescents and their families. This book provides practical advice for parents and can be a helpful adjunct to family therapy with the eating disordered individual.

5 comments about Food Addiction: The Body Knows: Revised & Expanded Edition.
- I grew up crying myself to sleep for overeating: hating myself wondering why I couldn't stop forcing food in my face even though I was horrified by any extra weight and my stomach was beyond full. Why didn't the threat of being heavy stop me? Why was I eating when I was way past full? Why could I not stop myself when what I really wanted was to stop myself?
After reading this book, I am happy to say that now I understand what is going on with my system. After reading this book, and then having binged, I could see (a revelation of sorts) that my behavior was a completely 'out of control' addiction. I would be in a euphoric state where I couldn't even focus on things I loved. I had to find more food. And nothing or no one could get in the way. But now, armed with the book, I am very well-equipped to help keep myself from bingeing.
The book talks about abstinence from those foods that trigger the overeating. And when you avoid trigger foods, you wouldn't believe how free you become. Totally free from the addictive, obsessive behavior that is caused by these foods. It is the best feeling in the world after all those difficult food addiction filled days.
I thought I could sprinkle a little bingeing into my life as long as I kept myself on the right track 90% of the time. But I, of course, underestimated the beast of food addiction, and could not limit the bingeing to 10%. Accept the things you cannot change (I cannot only eat 3 potato chips or 3 MnM's or a bowl of cereal with my kids without starting a terrible binge.) Change those that you can (if I cut the trigger foods out completely, my body does not go fanatical and it is the best feeling in the world.) Abstinence is freedom from food obsession.
Life changing book for me. And I would recommend it highly to anyone who feels they cannot control their eating.
- I think the maximum benefit of this book comes to a person with a serious binging problem. The first part of the book describes the nature of food addiction and gives many examples. The second part of the book descibes the recommended food plan for people with a food addiction. The food plan is extreme - but probably appropriate for treating a severe problem.
For the sort of people who sometimes fluxuate between being 30 pounds overweight to being in the normal, healthy BMI range (like me), I found the first part very interesting and could relate to some of it. However, since I don't consider my weight problem to be severe, I would be unwilling to follow such an extreme food plan. Perhaps some would say I am in denial, but I would have to be very desperate and have a very large problem to want to follow a food plan which is so restrictive.
This is an interesting read, whether your weight problem is large or small. I will keep this book around in case my food addiction ever becomes unmanageable, then I will need to try the restrictive food plan. Until then, Weight Watchers seems to be a better solution for me.
- If you are truly suffering from food addiction then this book will change your life. I only gave it 4 stars because I have had to modify the food plan to fit my life, but the concepts and facts in this book are things I have never heard before. And the way she describes food addicts describes my life.
- Terrific book for those serious about thier recovery. A heavily recommended book for your journey!
- I didn't understand until I read this book why I could be so disciplined during the day and after 3:00 p.m. ravage the refrigerator. By 5:00 p.m., I'm ready for a glass of wine and then I'm tired. This book teaches about keeping the sugar levels even throughout the day, even energy and clearer thinking, not to mention a better mood. I'm not doing it perfectly yet, I have good and bad days but at least I know what to do and why. It's a great book!

5 comments about Energy Tapping.
- Most people are probably aware of the basic purpose and potential health benefits of acupuncture and acupressure. Energy tapping follows the same basic premises of these two types of therapy. The only differences are that energy tapping looks at only 17 median points on the body, mostly located in the face, hand, and upper chest areas. Moreover, instead of applying pressure or using specialized needles, energy tapping as the name suggests, consists of light tapping on these areas. This process is so simple that the reader can easily do the therapy on him or herself as needed for help with everything from anxiety and depression through reduction of cravings and help with weight loss to improving relationships and dealing with trauma.
The exercises set out in Energy Tapping are simple to do by following the instructions and using the various illustrated charts in each section of the book. Moreover, the reader will find some relief even with the very first set of therapies.
- I was searching for information about tapping, this book gives a good perspective and extends beyond the free EFT information. Very useful to me in increasing my knowledge about tapping.
- Having done EFT for years using only the [...] site, I ordered this book for a friend (who tends not to value anything one can get for free). My purchase was sight unseen (other than the look inside feature) and based on reviews of others. The friend read the book and raved about how great it was. But never really applied the technique. Probably less to do with the book than the friend not being ready to clear his issues. You can lead a horse to water...
- This book presents an easy way that even a skeptic can use and get results in dealing with issues that have posed emotional barriers within your life. A must read for anyone who is trying to overcome trauma on any level.
- Over all a very good book if you are looking for an alternative to certain medications. Eventhough it was great to read the detailed explainations, I wish the author included a list of breif steps, or short cuts if you will. I know there has got to be a better way to help you fall asleep and rest.

5 comments about Addiction: Why Can't They Just Stop?.
- This book and DVD set were so informative and they help the person or persons that have an addict in their life understand the decisions that the addicts make.
- This book was very informative and educational. I even earmarked a couple pages that I will reference in the future. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking to understand substance addiction, it's causes, effects and treatment options.
Highly recommended.
- The book reviews the newest treatments of a really complex disorder. It also has some of the most recognized experts that work with addiction. It helps you understand addiction and it is a great source to help addicts.
- This book starts off with Al-Gore-type big lettering at the beginning, which I guess is supposed to subdue us into accepting its message. Next come CAT scans of brain slices, showing "addicts" on drugs. I guess this is designed to cull those of us who have never seen a CAT scan before into thinking that it means something or proves something. Next come a bunch of scare stories on addiction. The overall ideology of this book is that the human brain on drugs is "hijacked", and that once addicted, the addict is can't stop using. Not withstanding the "all or nothing" approach here, which obviously is wrong, the "hijacked brian" or "diseases brain" has already been refuted (for instance, read the book "One Nation Under Therapy", by two clinical psychologists, which totally refutes the "brain hijacked by drugs" theory.
This book is hugely disappointing, and does not reflect the current thinking on addiction. What it does reflect is the addiction treatment centers, which of course have a vested interest in making us believe that we can't quit substances without their expensive "treatment" plans. I find it interesting that people can't see beyond this in the U.S., that there is a pharmacological/medical/treatment complex. In short, let's face it, there is no money to be made if we all just stop using and don't need pharma products, $ 200-an hour therapy, and "in-patient treatment" centers.
Despite this, we all know people who quit various drugs, without "treatment".
To read the current thinking on addiction, see Miller of Univ. New Mexico and read up on Motivational Interviewing. This book is not, and I repeat, NOT up to date on current thinking in this field.
The reality is, millions of people have quit even the most serious addictions on their own, without expensive in-patient "treatment" or 12-step programs. In the U.S., we have allowed some people masquerading as "experts" to cull us into this ideology. It is time we start to say: the emperor has no clothes !
- Although I had never read a book about addictions before, I found the perspective a little different than expected. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of science and stories. An insightful look into how addiction shapes the brain and thought processes. Very helpful for those who know someone struggling.

5 comments about The Biggest Loser Cookbook: More Than 125 Healthy, Delicious Recipes Adapted from NBC's Hit Show.
- I flipped through this about 5 times, and only about 2 or 3 recipes looked good to me, and I'm not a picky eater--believe me! Stick with Weight Watchers cookbooks, they're way better!
- This book if far more that I expected it to be, far more than a cook book! It has so much information before you ever get to the recipes it is amazing. It is an overview of how the system works for Biggest Loser. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to adopt a healthier lifestyle!

THE BIGGEST LOSER COOKBOOK
More than 125 Healthy, Delicious Recipes
Adapted from NBC'S Hit Show
By Chef Devin Alexander, et al
(picture jacket here)
A review by Marty Martindale
The whole Biggest Loser concept is good, it seems, for these times, in that they have dealt with not only the food and its recipes, but a pyramid, general instruction for good sense and several graded workouts with Bob Harper and students on CD. This is a good program for these times when weight seems a problem for too many.
The Biggest Loser Diet is "calorie-controlled, carbohydrate-modified, fat-reduced and high in protein (which controls hunger.)" They want you to eat three meals and two snacks each day. "The 4-3-2-1 Biggest Loser Pyramid" is four tiers, the base, or largest is fresh fruits and vegetables, the next level is protein foods, seafood, cheese, beans, fish and yogurt. The second from the top level is whole grains, your breads, cereals and wheat pasta. The top level, or "The Extras" are sweets with a 200 calorie daily limit. They have an equation for your calorie quota: if you weigh between 150 and 300, multiply your weight by seven, and this is the number of calories you should keep your maximum to. Some simple pointers: No white potatoes, limit amount of starchy vegetables such as pumpkin, winter squash, sweet potatoes and yams. Avoid dry fruits. Choose whole fruits over juices. Vary your proteins and limit red meat servings to two a week. Avoid processed cold cuts. There's a few more guidelines, but nothing too restrictive, really common sense.
They divide the recipe section into Breakfasts, Hearty Snacks, Sandwiches-Soups-Stews, Sides & Salads, Main Courses and Sweet Snacks. Here's some examples:
MANGO STRAWBERRY BREAKFAST SUNDAE: Calls for orange juice, ice cubes, honey and high-fiber, low-sugar cereal
SUNRISE OATMEAL: Orange juice, oats, blueberries, water and orange extract
BRIAN'S BREAKFAST SCRAMBLE: Green bell pepper, onion, tomato, egg whites, and Cheddar cheese
COCKTAIL-HOUR TUNA TARTARE: Mango, cucumber, lime juice, cilantro, green onions and sesame oil
JESSICA'S "THE RANCH" BLT WRAP: Turkey bacon, wheat tortilla, Galeo's Miso Caesar Dressing, lettuce and tomato
PB & J SPIRALS: Wheat flour tortilla, peanut butter and strawberry all-fruit spread
PAM'S COTTAGE CHEESE MARINARA: Cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese and spaghetti sauce
JEN'S ASPARAGUS GUACAMOLE: Add sour cream, guacamole seasoning mix and tomato.
INDIAN CHICKEN SALAD POCKETS: Mayonnaise, lime juice, curry paste, cucumber, red onion, wheat pita and lettuce
MATT'S GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH: Rye bread, Cheddar cheese and oil spray
PARMESAN-PEPPER SWEET POTATO FRIES: Olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne and ketchup, if desired.
DANA'S SPINACH AND FETA BROWN RICE: Onion, garlic and feta cheese.
PARMESAN-ROASTED CAULIFLOWER: Parsley, garlic powder and olive oil
FRESH AND COLORFUL JICAMA SLAW: Cucumber, carrots, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil and red pepper flakes
BROCCOLI SALAD WITH SWEET VINAIGRETTE: Orange juice, plain yogurt, mustard, orange marmalade and red onion
HOT AND COLD BROWN-RICE SALAD: Chicken, broccoli florets, bell pepper, red onion, Italian dressing, and balsamic vinegar
DARI'S PICANTE CHICKEN: Picante sauce, cream cheese and Cheddar cheese
HEATHER'S MEXICAN ROLLUP: Ground turkey, extra-lean, wheat tortilla, sour cream, romaine, tomato and salsa
ANGEL HAIR WITH ROCKIN' RED CLAM SAUCE: Onion, garlic, baby clams, tomatoes, oregano, olive oil, red-pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese
ICED BUFFED MOCHA: Powdered coffee, chocolate soy milk, vanilla yogurt, Splenda, fat-free whipped topping and cocoa powder
RASAH AND EDWIN'S WARM GRAPEFRUIT DESSERT: Add ground cinnamon and bake.
TIFFANY'S CANDIED ALMONDS: Butter spray, almonds, cinnamon and Splenda
In a world where too many are jeopardizing their health by carrying too much weight, the whole Biggest Loser program, the exercises, advice and recipies are well worth considering.
You can reach Marty Martindale at Food Site of the Day.

- I haven't really tried many recepies in this cookbook. I'm a really picky eater so this cookbook doesn't really help me. But I stil thought some of the recepies had some really good ideas.
- This cookbook is great and provided me with great stuff for my husband and I to eat. Trying to get Coach D to eat healthy is kinda hard. So if I fill him up on these great dishes, maybe I can keep him healthy. Most of the recipes are easy and quick to fix.

5 comments about Creating Money: Attracting Abundance (Sanaya Roman).
- This is a great book. Works well with New Thought philosophies. Helped me to re-examine how I look at finances and abundance. Everyone should take the time to really assess how they use money. My thought processes have kept me from being the financially abundant person I am meant to be. What I have learned from this book has already "paid off" in big ways personally and professionally.
- This is an excellent book. I had the first addition and read it over and over until I practically wore it out. I loaned it to a friend and it never came back. Of course, I had to replace it! I haven't finished reading it!
- CREATING MONEY: ATTRACTING ABUNDANCE was a best-selling book around the world, selling over 500,000 copies with its easy step-by-step process on achieving prosperity through spiritual laws of abundance. This edition has been vastly revised and updated, adding new examples, stories, and techniques on how to attract abundance in all walks of life. Abundance means more than just money: readers here learn to link empowerment with choice in a powerful recommendation for any collection strong in New Age materials.

- The book arrived in As New and on time. The best you can expect. Thank you with appreciation.
- This book is full of wisdom and lessons not only about money, but also attachment, fear, release, trusting the universe and yourself. I highly reccomend it for people who are starting a business, coming out of recession, debt, etc.

5 comments about Reverse Aging.
- I was very surprised when I got the book and it was written in chinese! No way I can read it. I thought when it said chinese after the title it meant it had been written by a chinese not that it was in chinese. The description should be plainer. If you know a Chinaman that would like the book I would be glad to send it to him.
David l. Tilden
- A very good book on the subject. very helpful information on reversing aging and giving a much better quality of life. I had total knee replacement on one knee and needed it on the other. After getting my system ph right, I am able to get around better than I have for years, without any medication to help! Not considering the other knee replacement.
- Sending book back. It was written in ''Chinese''!
Cannot read book.
Only read English.
- Read this book to understand the why of pH Balance for your health. Great chemical analysis and very helpful. Even if you don't have the background to understand the chemical compositions you will enjoy the powerful understanding that balancing your inner pH has on your overall health. Do not make this the only book you read on Acid Alkaline balance because you need the recipes and the other parts of understanding for healing yourself. You will also need to understand what foods and life style choices are Acidic and what are Alkaline and this book doesn't answer that. I recommend any of Dr Robert and Shelley Young pH Miracle books for deep why understanding and I recommend Dr Baroody's "Alkalize or Die" for and understanding of what other life style choices help with Acid Alkaline balance as well as understanding the What. And may need a good Naturopath or Herbalist or Nutritionist to help you through the process initially. You can have great health understanding these principles.
- When I ordered this book, there was nothing saying it was in Chinese. It comes in English and Chinese. Then when I ordered it, the confirmation had "In Chinese". I cannot read Chinese and I tried to get them to stop the order but I couldnt get anyone to e-mail me back. It was lousy service
