5 comments about The Energy of Belief: Psychology's Power Tools to Focus Intention and Release Blocking Beliefs.
- In The Energy of Belief readers are taught a wonderful energy psychology method that is related to Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), called TAB. The authors skillfully take readers through the steps to use it on themselves. The authors give information about the history of energy psychology approaches, scientific studies that explain why TAB works and include cases that readers will easily identify with. This book is user friendly and simple to apply to everyday problems or long standing challenges. It belongs on everyone's book shelf.
Gloria Arenson, MFT author of Five Simple Steps to Emotional Healing, A Substance Called Food, Born to Spend, How to Stop Playing the Weighting Game, Freedom at Your Fingertips
- This book is a must read for both those who are familiar with Energy Psychology techniques and those who are just being introduced to them. It is clearly written with easy to follow instructions, and loaded illustrations demonstrating the techniques. After reading it, I purchased three more copies to loan to my clients. Many have said that they purchased their own copy because the techniques have been so effective. I am recommending this book to everyone I know.
- The Energy of Belief is an eye-opening and informative read for both professionals and non-professions alike on a powerful energy psychology treatment. Psychologist, Sheila Bender, and Social Worker, Mary Sise, have written an easy to "read, learn and do" book that brings the gentle, energetic power of the Touch-and-Breathe (TAB) treatment approach literally to your finger tips.
The Energy of Belief provides an easy to understand scientific foundation of energy, intention, vibrational frequencies, and fields relative to Eastern and Western medical views as they relate to the concept of mind and mind-body-energy interactions. Thought and beliefs are described as detectible energetic elements that impact our emotional and physical being, which can unknowingly disrupt and block healing treatments despite our best intentions. The authors discuss the relative importance of body polarity, how to assess and correct polarity when needed, and its essential value as a guide in successful treatment.
Bender and Sise provide numerous illustrations, charts, learning exercises, and photos as they outline step-by-step procedures for generic (algorithm) and individualized use of TAB to treat the most common to the most elusive and self-sabotaging issues that challenge our lives. Whether you desire to recover from traumatic experiences or self-defeating habits, this book offers a powerful avenue to address all contributing beliefs that may have served to block your previous efforts to change and heal and offer the best opportunity for success.
If you are new to the area of "Energy Psychology" and meridian-assisted treatments, or have training and experience in TFT and EFT, you will find this book to be a valuable resource and reference regarding content, clarity, and ease of application. Of considerable importance is the protocol for treating positive emotions and beliefs that hook a person into repetitive and self-sabotaging behaviors in order to feel better.
As the originator of the Touch-and-Breathe (TAB) treatment and lead author of Evolving Thought Field Therapy from which this book is derived, I found The Energy of Belief to be a "must have" in understanding and applying energy psychology treatments. Dr. John Diepold www.TFTworldwide.com
- This is the book I have been waiting for - a well written, comprehensive, yet simple, guide to a profound energy psychology technique - Touch And Breathe (TAB). It is the first book I now recommend to those patients who understand how vital it is to take true ownership of their healing. In the early chapters, Sheila Sidney Bender and Mary Sise impart to the reader their deep knowledge of the essential components of TAB:"the meridian gateway, mindfulness, touch, breath, intention and intuition." From then on, they give clear and practical advice on how best to apply this profound healing approach to a wide variety of common debilitating conditions whose roots so often lie within conditioned, false negative beliefs.
Reading this book, and applying its heart-felt advice to our lives, is a truly rewarding experience. I am honored that it has been published as a companion to my own book The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells
- Sheila Sidney Bender & Mary T. Sise, The Energy of Belief: Psychology's Power Tools to Focus Intention and Release Blocking Beliefs, Fulton, CA: Energy Psychology Press 2007.
This is an excellent book that delivers on the promise in its title, presenting clearly and convincingly the tools and methods that can identify and transform beliefs that block one's progress and satisfaction in life. Sheila Bender and Mary Sise have a very readable style that engages the reader's interest as it explains biological energy fields, blocking beliefs and how to deal with them.
Helpful nuggets that stand out include:
· Energy field perturbations (well known in the numerous therapy traditions as signs of problems), as well as elaters and harmonizers (positive aspects of energy fields);
· Energy field reversals (again, well known in the Energy Psychology) and energetic belief reversals that can block progress;
· Self-testing for energetic belief blocks.
The scripts and diagrams for using the Touch and Breathe method, supplemented with richly illustrated case examples provide a clear understanding of how to apply these methods. This book is warmly recommended to those who are seeking methods for self-healing.

5 comments about A Hand to Guide Me.
- Denzel Washington uses his star power to assemble personal recollections from assorted successful folks (primarily alumnae of the Boys and Girls Clubs Organizations) about the people who shaped THEIR lives as youngsters.
Some of the stories are more interesting and inspiring than others, and I couldn't help but wonder if this volume couldn't have benefitted from more cohesive editing. But the bottom line is that these are positive and uplifting pages that remind us "if you want to change history, start by changing the life of a child."
- In "A Hand to Guide Me," American film star and legend, Denzel Washington, sets out shine a light on the 100 year old Boy's & Girl's Clubs of America, an organization of 3,700 serving more than 4.4 million children in all 50 states. Washington's eventual success can be traced directly to the Boys Club in his home town, Mt. Vernon, New York. It was there, by necessity, that he learned purpose, consequences, and how to be a man.
"A Hand to Guide Me" is a collection of short stories by ordinary people from ordinary beginnings, accomplishing extraordinary things. Six dozen people from diverse backgrounds share their memories about role models, mentors and positive influences in their lives. Some are household names like coach John Wooden, director John Singleton, author Toni Morrison, General Wesley Clark and former President Jimmy Carter. Many are alumni of Girls and Boys Clubs of America, while others have taken on leadership roles in these clubs. And some were asked to contribute because there was something to learn from their voice. These are very readable stories ranging in length from two to four pages.
All of the contributors have outgrown a hardship or two to reach a significant level of success and can draw a line from their success to some rock solid foundational experience - sometimes it is a parent, a coach, a neighbor or the inspiration derived from a tragic event.
Washington's resonant message is that we are all extraordinary in our own way but we don't go it alone. There are people on whose shoulders we stand and we, in turn, can provide a shoulder for others.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America are the center of everything for many kids today, providing a shoulder for millions of kids and making a vital contribution to the future of our society. They are a breeding ground for hope, purpose, and direction - where many have learned strength, confidence, and the freedom to dream...to think big.
- This book highlights celebrities. Yet, they all started where 95% of us started. It shows that many of us are capable and DO make something of ourselves when inspiration, hard work and perseverance rule, in any degree. For each of these celebrities there are probably thousands of people that have guided and are guiding hands to others just through faithfulness to the basic, mundane, and simple tasks of life. You are probably one of those people. It's just that Mr. Washington didn't or could include you in a volume that would be the world's heaviest book.
Thank you Mr. Denzel Washington for sharing with us regular people what regular people CAN become. I hope this book inspires more such books and other media that affirms and confirms regular people in this day of celebrity worship.
- Enlightening as I am often interested in who and what motivated people. It is good to know that most people are encouraged by "regular" people. This can may you reflect on who had a positive impact on your journey. Kind words and act can move people to move mountains. This book is filled with inspiring accounts; I think it is a great motivational tool for people who think they are not affecting change with their words of wisdom and those who do not believe that where they are now does not have to be their ultimate destination.
- An interesting construct for a multi-author book, but the contributions are safe and lacking in personal connections with the reader. I mean, Muhammad Ali (whom, interestingly enough, influenced me as a teen) chose Nelson Mandela and it sounded like the relationship was mostly an admiration from afar rather than any personal connection between the two men. By far the best contribution is that of Mr. Washington himself, who allows himself many more pages than others in describing the relationship with the Boys and Girls Club and the mentor who helped to mold his life. The thing about mentors is that often the relationship is informal and the influence isn't realized until many years later. Some people just make you a better person by being themselves. I think if the contributors to this book had focused on that part of it, this book would hit the inspirational mark that it seeks.

2 comments about Dude, That's Rude!: (Get Some Manners) (Laugh and Learn).
- This book was perfect for my 9-year-old, who really enjoyed the funny sections but also learned a lot from the informative text. It covers everything - from cell phones to dinner table manners to even "fartiquette" - and has full-color art as well so it was fun shared reading. An excellent resource for easing kids' fears about social situations and for promoting mannered behavior in today's kids.
- I have two boys, ages 10 & 12, and they got a real kick out of this book. I did too! It is a good overview of manners of all kinds, but in a humorous setting. I would recommend it to anyone with kids who need a "brush up" on manners. Very well written.

3 comments about The Master Key Workbook.
- I have read the Master Key System and followed the exercises a few years ago. I found that the system did indeed help me better my life by changing my thought patterns.
However, lately life has been very challenging as I embark on some major changes such as a new career path and moving to another state. It was perfect timing that the MKS workbook was released and I decided to give it a go.
It is the perfect companion to the insightful original book. It summarizes each chapter and then provides additional exercises or written materials that allow you to really grasp the idea behind each chapter. All of the exercises are clear and allow you to follow through at your own pace. The extra materials are beautifully chosen to illustrate Haanel's concepts. The format of the workbook is easy to read and follow with plenty of room to write in the book. The book itself is a comfortable size, not so small as to be uncomfortable to read but not too large as to be cumbersome to work with. It is a perfect size for a briefcase or a tote bag and lies flat on a table.
A word of caution - the exercises and extra materials really cause you to think and reflect. This can be a bit difficult if you are being honest with yourself. Trying to physically list the twenty things that you do to hold back your own success can be daunting. However, I have found it to be liberating as you then learn how to apply Haanel's concepts to these negative patterns and change them into positive steps to success.
To understand the MKS is great, but to be able to master it is life changing. This workbook allows you to master the concepts by engaging you both mentally and physically. I highly recommend this book!
- A long time ago I made the transition from blue collar worker to independent business man. It was something that I thought I was prepared to do because my entire life was one of "hard work" and diligence. So, when I entered into this new career I felt that I could make that transition without a lot of "speed bumps" along the way.
Luckily for me, thru a series of synchronistic events the "mind stuff" came into my life just as I was going full fledged into business. What I found was a world that literally amazed me in its simplicity.
Imagine (no pun intended) that a simple thought could have more power than all the hard work ever done!
Then imagine that simple thoughts done with consistancy could have a more dramatic impact on your financial fortunes than all the hours spent "chained to the desk!"
Better yet.....imagine that there were men and women out there who have already succeeded in business by using those simple principals and who were willing to write the "mind stuff" down on paper so that you and I could literally "follow the leader" to financial success.
One year after my very first "major exposure" to the materials that are presented by Tony and Bob in this work book my life changed dramatically and all for the better.
Today I own a multi million dollar business that continues to grow monthly and I look around at my life and realize most of it was "written down" on a piece of paper long before it ever really happened.
And if you look in my wallet today you ll find a small piece of paper with things written on it that express my desires for my future. All of these things would be "wishes" instead of "eventual realities" had it not been for the information that is contained in books like this.
If you want real change in your life.....start now.....buy both books and start NOW!

Works well with the original Master Key book.
This book is to be used WITH the Master Key program, not as a substitute.

5 comments about The Creative Visualization Workbook: Second Edition (Gawain, Shakti).
- If you ever wondered about life, If you ever wanted help but did not know where to begin, then begin with this book. It will open opportunities and heal wounds you never knew you had.
- Excellent book. It helps one to consolidate the information given in the paperback book.
- a wondeful way to learn how to set goals and put ones dreams into action!
love it and its fun.
- .
When used together with Shakti Gawain's "Creative Visualization", this combination provides you with all the tools you need to create a road map for a better life.
And then they show you how to travel through life using your map.
- While this is not exactly what I was expecting, I am pleased with the workbook. The exercises are very clear and concise and easy to do. The treasure map exercise is also fun! This book is a much easier to use version of The Secret (yes, Gawain's book came first, I know, but The Secret has been the one most talked about in the past year or two). I like this one better.

5 comments about The Emotional Incest Syndrome: What to do When a Parent's Love Rules Your Life.
- Good insights into the nature of emotional incest. Well written. Definitely worth a read, but falls short on advice as to WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.
- Everyone should read this book. There is so much information in it about how healthy families behave that it would be useful even for those who have not been subject to an extremely close relationship with a parent.
Don't be put off by the title. "Emotional Incest" sounds strong and you might be tempted to believe that it doesn't apply to you. Read the back cover and decide for yourself.
- I purchased this book because of another family member (not immediate) experiencing serious issues with her parents, as well as a close friend of mine trying to break free from a very emotionally dependent parent. The book clearly spells out the kinds of problems children endure because of emotionally dependent parents and gives great advice on how to break and stay free. It is very insighful reading because it is written by someone who has been there and lived that. I highly reccomend it.
- It was a hard read because of how much this book made sense to my H and I. It's well written and easy to understand. This was most definitely life changing for us and set us on a much better road. I recommend this book all the way. (And have!)
- This book addresses a common family dynamic that happens when parents try to rely on their children for emotional support. Gives a good description of the problem along with strategies to work past it.

5 comments about Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul: 101 Stories to Celebrate, Honor and Inspire the Nursing Profession (Chicken Soup for the Soul).
- I work as a Director of Nursing and I enjoyed this stories.
- I was feeling really down until I read this book and now, after 27 years in the profession, I can remember why I love this job!!!
- Incredibly touching with quotes to remember. A book I will pass along so others can enjoy the soul warming experience as I did.
- As always, very pleased with yet another Chicken Soup book.
- I am a nurse, so of course, I loved this. It has wonderful, uplifting stories. It would be a wonderful gift for any nurse, or for yourself, if you are a nurse or for anyone thinking about becoming one.

5 comments about Hippos Go Berserk.
- This book, like so many of Boynton's books, is cute and clever. A lonely hippo invites over other hippos (arriving in groups of 2 through 9), and eventually has enough for a party. Then, leaving in groups of 9 through 2, they depart. The book lodges itself in your mind well enough such that, when we go see the hippos at the zoo, I find myself saying, "One hippo, all alone, calls two hippos on the phone." And, I'm not surprised when another parent nearby answers, "Three hippos at the door, bring along another four!" A great find for kids 18 months and up.
- I purchased this charming Sandra Boyton hardbook for an adult psychologist with a penchant for all things hip...po, rather than for a child. She found it laugh-out-loud delightful and insightful and will undoubtedly share the joy of reading it aloud to a growing roster of great-nieces and great-nephews. However, I doubt if she'll part with Hippos Go Berserk!
- And so do our kids. All of her books are our favorite first books for our kids.
- This is one of my family's favorite childrens books ever. It not only completely speaks to our crazy and chaotic, yet incredibly loving extended family, but the last line -- "One hippo alone once more, misses the the other forty-four" -- sums up that poignancy of having to say good-bye. All that, plus it helps teach kids to count. (Both my five- and eight-year-olds still want to make sure that there are 44 actual hippos at the height of it all.) I never tire of reading it and have given it as a gift at nearly every baby shower I've ever been to. If you haven't read Sandra Boynton's childrens books, do so now.
- This book is fun reading that will entertain you as well as the kid. It's quick, easy reading, but has lots of pages so that the story doesn't end right away. I baby-sat an 18-month old toddler who loves books, and I didn't mind at all reading and re-reading this one. The words flow well, and I didn't feel awkward reading aloud the way I do with some other books. I will definitely buy this one for my niece!

5 comments about Outgrowing the Pain: A Book for and About Adults Abused As Children.
- This is a book I give to clients who have past molest or abuse history. Eliana Gil has a beautiful and succinct way of explaining the "side effects" of such abuse - how it reveals itself in every realionship and how it is so disabling to it's victim. The best part is that it's easy to read and small in length making it a good book to give clients.
- I agree with some of the other reviewers that this book is very simplified, but keep in mind too that the author's stated purpose is not to provide an exhaustive overview of childhood abuse and techniques of dealing with it. She says in the first chapter, "This book has more questions than answers. I ask the reader to explore slowly the issues of abuse in the past. Seek help from friends, relatives, or counselors in order to fully understand the abuse, to put it in perspective, and to move on the a healthier way of relating in the world." To this end, I think Dr. Gil was successful, and I could see how some survivors of child abuse would find this book helpful as a complement to therapy. But I agree with another reviewer that if you are at the point of seeking out a self-help book on surviving child abuse, you are probably already convinced that you underwent some form of it and are now most interested, and would most benefit by, specific advice or techniques to help you cope. As a survivor myself, the most interesting lesson I took away from this book was the theme of extremes playing a prevalent role in the life of an adult survivor of abuse. The brief descriptions of the different reactions/roles that adult survivors take on almost always point out that those reactions lie in one extreme or the other. The paradigm "all things in moderation" has been reinforced in my life after reading this book, which is indeed an important lesson but one that I already knew anyway. If you are struggling with this issue I can't say I wouldn't recommend the book, but only as a supplement to therapy or other, more exhaustive books.
- This is a tiny little book with lots of pictures and very little substance to it. It's designed to ask questions of the reader and point out certain behaviors, and that's it. I didn't find the information in it very useful, but since I do volunteer work with children I decided to keep in around to refer to from time to time. I didn't find it to be a book for adults at all. My advice is don't waste your money.
- This book presents a simple, friendly clinical resource that is helpful to therapists and as bibliotherapy for clients who are dealing with abuse.
- The author has a wealth of experience working with children. The book is easy to read. It is really helpful and each page is a thought provoker. Better is read slower so the reader has plenty of reflective time. This book and the author will be classics in the child abuse and treatment category. Self-help or in therapy, the book and its author are right on.
