5 comments about Skinny Bitch.
- This book is not about dieting or being skinny, it's about veganism...period...the end. The book offers no other altneratives. They should name it "How to Be a Vegan" or "Good Meal Suggestions for Vegan Eating". This book goes beyond vegetarianism and shuns milk, eggs, yogurt, cheese, etc.
If you don't like being yelled out (there is a lot of that in this book), and you are not interested in being a vegan, then don't get this book.I should have read more into the title, but I thought the name was just a marketing ploy to get more attention. It's not. Almost the entire book is a rant w/ some source material referenced to support the author's rant.
On the plus side, for those interested in veganism, this book offers many pages of vegan product suggestions.
- Read with an open mind. I picked it up 6 months ago expecting fluff chick lit and have been a non-smoking vegan ever since.
- When I saw this book at the bookstore I thought that it was just a simple diet book. I had no idea how it would change my life. I read this book all in one sitting it was so engrossing. I never planned to be a vegan, but I am proud to say that I have been one now for a month and I have no plans of stopping. Yes I had to give up many things that I loved, but I feel so much better and healthier.
I could have done with out the vulgar language - that is the only negative about this book.
I tell friends who ask why I went vegan that I read this book and that I only recommend reading it if you are ready for a lifestyle change.
Overall I am thrilled with my lifestyle change. I have finally managed to drop the last 5 pounds that were hanging on from my second pregnancy.
- I bought this book because it seemed like a fun read, described as a sort of irreverant look at dieting. And it was - for the first chapter or so. Then it got down to the real business of the book, which is to push a Vegan lifestyle as the only way to go. That's fine, but I really wish I'd known that before I wasted the money on the book! After it launched into the vegan stuff I just put the book away. A waste of my $$ and time.
- It's a bait and switch. I thought I was buying a humorous health and nutrition book, but instead it was animal rights advocacy material. I have no problem with the animal rights movement, but the nature of this book should be made clear right from the start, on the front and back covers.

5 comments about The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
- The premise of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is that there are 7 habits which can dramatically improve a person's professional and social life. These habits include: 1. Be proactive. 2. Begin with the end in mind. 3. Put first things first. 4. Think win/win. 5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. 6. Synergize. 7. Sharpen the saw.
Covey's philosophy of using honest open communication, fairness, integrity and human dignity as a baseline in all relationships is sound powerful advice. The book is well written with excellent insights and wisdom.
The Re-Discovery of Common Sense: A Guide to: The Lost Art of Critical Thinking
- Nutshell review - This is an excellent book whose lessons and insights can contribute to all aspects of your life. Excellent.
- We had the privilege of hearing Dr. Covey in person at The University of Michigan when this book was first published. It instantly became one of the most important books we've read and used in our teaching. We give this as a graduation gift to our college students to help them to be effective as they start their new life. Covey is the master of story-telling and bringing his habits to life.
Author, "Trust is Everything: Become the leader others will follow"
- I actually purchased these cards in error, thinking that they were the book.
When I received it, I was disappointed.
When I read them, I was delighted!!!!
They encourage great focus and act as a boosters at the start of the day - pick up a card, read the back also or just read the front in the extremely pleasant font, and make yourself more effective and generally a better person.
A lot of these points made are quite obviously (although some are a lot more subtle and extremely cleverly presented) but fundamentally, it helps to make you a balanced and better person, which then obviously spills into your personal and business life.
They are the closest thing you will get to a quick fix - where a book requires you to be motivated to focus to read it, these are available at all times - pick one up from your desk before a meeting, browse through one or two while on hold for a phone call - you can only benefit if these ideals and tips sink into your subconscious!
- I agree with the other commenters who have given this book negative reviews and who appear to be more critical thinkers than the author himself.
This book was clearly written on auto-pilot; it is constructed on a string of cliches and half-conceived insights and analysis. It is entirely clear the author has little to say. The book is an insult to probing, intelligent minds. A total joke!

5 comments about Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity.
- Mr. Allen's insightful and concrete program is exceptional - it's different than all the other information I've gleaned on the topic. It gets away from "procrastination" and "time mangement" and truly articulates "How to Get Stuff Done". I've been through much of the generic "Time Management" material, including most of Brian Tracey and others like Rita Emmett's "Procrastinator's Handbook". It's much different than the generic "A-B-C prioritizing" / "important but not urgent" concepts. Mr. Allen's system is simple, yet comprehensive and presented in a business-oriented fashon (but it works remarkably well for both personal and business application). Highly recommended.
- Mr Allen has written a valuable book. The first chapter provides a good rationale for his system, with the second chapter providing practical implementation details. The system itself is sound, with the first chapter providing adequate justification for the system. Even if one doesn't like the system, the first and second chapters provide valuable ideas and suggestions to improve productivity.
The third chapter devolves into repetition of the least valuable sort. It fails to re-enforce earlier concepts, but detracts from them by poorly attempting to justify them at a higher level.
I wish Mr Allen would release a second edition of this book. It is peppered with imprecise language, hackneyed phrases, and meaningless clichés. Many sentences in the book could have 2 or more words removed without losing any meaning. The author also tends to exaggerate. For example, on page 250 he writes "That is real productivity, perhaps in its most awesome manifestation". This would be better if it simply said "That is real productivity, in its best form".
There is also much 'management speak' within the book, which detracts from its message.
In all, the book contains many good ideas, and if you can ignore the often flawed writing style of the author, then you stand to gain much from the book.
Please, Mr Allen, re-write the book while thinking about clear, plain English. It will benefit both your readers and your book sales.
- This is an excellent Starting Point for those who are just getting organized. You can make the system your own. I takes about 4 weeks to get set up and running, at least it did for me. I also recommend Don't Like to Read, Then Don't, Listen!: How to Turn Any Type of Text Into Audio Files That Can Be Read to You!, as a tool that can help you get more things done as you do basic life stuff such as showerings, cooking, eating, ect.
- I get three times what I used to get done in a week because of the systems of time manipulation I have developed. Another good book that gives time manipulation tools is Don't Like to Read, Then Don't, Listen!: How to Turn Any Type of Text Into Audio Files That Can Be Read to You!
- The workflow David Allen presents in Getting Things Done is incredibly useful. So much so, in fact, that it can make the book difficult to read. I personally started the book twice, only to put it back on the shelf half-completed, before reading it completely on my third attempt.
In the interest of getting things done, the book is written in such a way that unfinished business will be drawn out of your subconscious to occupy your central thought process. Unfortunately, this mental burden distracts attention from reading the book itself.
During my first two attempts, this became so frustrating that I simply had to stop reading the book. However, I was still able to take away valuable lessons. One of the primary tenets of GTD, is ensuring these reminders get written down in a trusted system. In so doing, the nagging voice in your head will subside, allowing you to focus and complete tasks efficiently.
I began by integrating the ideas I had read into my own way of working. In so doing, I was able to reach a level where I could finally pick up the book and read it in its entirety, without having my concentration broken by reminders of my open loops.
If you are looking to improve your productivity, I highly recommend this book. Start implementing the ideas into your workflow as you read them, and don't be too concerned about reading cover-to-cover. Depending on your work style, a complete GTD workflow may need to be adopted incrementally over time.

5 comments about Change Your Brain, Change Your Life: The Breakthrough Program for Conquering Anxiety, Depression, Obsessiveness, Anger, and Impulsiveness.
- If you want to know more about your subc.I heartily recommend these CDs:
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
The Master Key System
Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World
The Science of Getting Rich
The Science of Mind
Think and Grow Rich: Original Version
- I initially saw Dr. Amen on PBS television show. Something about him made me watch. I became very interested in what he was discussing and as a result purchased the book and CDs. The book was very interesting and well written. Very easy to understand, especially when reading about a rather technical subject. Dr. Amen made is easy with his explanations and use of examples. The CDs followed the book very closely and made everything fall into place. I have heard many public speakers and listened to hundreds of CD programs; Dr. Amen is best speaker I have ever listened to. He is articulate and clear and speaks with sincerity, care and knowledge. I plan to take the master questionnaire as soon as it arrives. In my opinion his work is ground breaking and has the potential to help many people. My only regret is that I live on the East coast and it would be very difficult to visit him. As I feel at this time, it would be my number one choice if I could have three wishes. I hope that anyone considering purchasing this book does so.
- One of the problems in today's treatment approaches--whether they be the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, the psychiatrist's counseling, the scans, the pharmaceuticals, nutritional imbalance, or altering behavioral disorders--is that they don't touch many of us who believe in cure by the power of God.By the Power of God: A Guide To Early A.A. Groups and Forming Similar Groups Today ; God and Alcoholism: Our Growing Opportunity in the 21st Century; and Cured! Proven Help for Alcoholics and Addicts. As a recovered alcoholic, I've done my turn in a treatment center, a psychiatric ward, a therapist's chair, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Christian fellowship. And I've profited from all. But sad it is that a popular book and approach such as this just doesn't cover help from the Creator. Belief in God, acceptance of Christ, study of the Bible, prayer, renewing the mind to God's word, and working with others were all part of the highly successful early A.A. fellowship. When Early AAs Were Cured and Why, Third Edition And I believe strongly that professionals like the good doctor should be introduced to, understand, and be able to work with the power of God as an element of healing much used and needed by many. All the areas of his practice involve human means, but they need to take account of spiritual help. Not self-help, not group-therapy, not rehabilitation, but embracing these within the original, old-school A.A. Christian approach.Dr. Bob of Alcoholics Anonymous: His Excellent Training in the Good Book As a Youngster in Vermont
- I first saw Dr. Amen on a public television fund raiser. I was surfing
and stopped cold when the list of behaviors he was describing fit my current
boyfriend, I'm talking about all of them. He has had a rough go of it; I believe
he has had ADHD from birth (maybe never diagnosed), but two yrs he suffered
a brain aneurysm and stroke.
I needed help!
I tuned in and immediately sent for the book. It gave me so much insight into
creating a more successful environment to continue my relationship and it
empowered me with strategies to use to deescalate situations when circum-
stances arise. I haven't shared the book yet but I plan to because it makes so
much sense to me that the physical brain would dictate what is going on
behaviorally. I would love to attend some workshops of Dr. Amens', that is
my next goal.
- Instead of repeating other reviewers, let's focus mostly on some unmentioned and undeveloped content. The deep limbic system is responsible for such things as PMS, clinical depression, negative emotions, etc. These problems are exacerbated by ANTs (automatic negative thoughts) which become self-perpetuating with constant repetition. To eliminate them, the person needs to reframe negative thoughts and experiences as positive ones. Philippians 4:8 is cited as to the need for focusing on positive emotions. POLYANNA is mentioned favorably, including her statement that the Bible has about 800 "Glad Passages', indicating God's priority in this regard. Medications such as Saint-John's-wort can also be helpful in alleviating limbic-system dysfunction.
The basal ganglia are the person's natural "idle". When set too "high", they are responsible for such things as anxiety, fear, avoidance of conflict, the "freeze" response during emergencies, sloppy handwriting, TS (Tourette syndrome), OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), etc. To deal with problems related to the basal ganglia, the person should, besides killing ANTs, engage in guided imagery, diaphragmatic breathing, meditation/self-hypnosis, etc. Medications such as lithium and Valium can also help with basal-ganglial overactivity. In cases of basal-ganglial underactivity, as in ADD, the person often enjoys conflict with others as a form of self-stimulation.
The cingulate system is the person's natural "gear shifter". Problems with the cingulate include oppositional disorder in children, cognitive inflexibility, repetitive thoughts, and persistence of grudges. Such problems can be helped with SSRI drugs such as Prozac, as well as by physical exercise, the making of paradoxical requests, etc.
Other sections of the book include discussion of problems related to the prefrontal cortex and temporal lobes. The book concludes with a list of references, to articles in medical journals, which the research-oriented reader can use for further study.

5 comments about The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich.
- This book is yet another motivational 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' ploy, only this time being applied to on-line products. Mr. Ferris strongly advocates outsourcing work overseas. Great! More potential USA work lost to third world countries. And the pay rate for that overseas work really isn't that much different than it is here (has Mr. Ferris checked the current US minimum wage?). And his web-site? Just a big advertisement to buy his book. Just what the US needs, more Wal-Mart capitalism.
- This is an excellent book which includes many, many details and suggested exercises. My suggestion is to read the book all the way through once, then start working on the exercises, slowly, otherwise it can be a bit too much to really get a handle on. Awesome, so worth the money spent to purchase it.
- Well-written and actionable, the "Four Hour Workweek" book delivers a step by step process combining a variety of techniques designed to help people make outstanding use of their time.
For fellow 'serial entrepreneurs' like myself, the outsourcing and 'boundary management' tips were particularly useful, including must-read tips for avoiding outsourcing pitfalls (eg time caps on projects and how to select assistants), plus more.
His model is a sound one, on page 185, for developing an info-business plan; though there's much more to it than is covered, it's a great overview and outline of key productivity concepts. I found it impressive that the author was able to articulate many effective productivity-boosting strategies so clearly.
For more, be sure to study Brian Tracy and Dan Kennedy as well. I recommend Brian's "Eat That Frog", and Dan's "No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs" books (along with all their other products, which are essential for success).
Overall, highly recommended; it got me thinking about outsourcing more effectively, plus other actionable ideas, so that alone is well worth reading this for.
-Ken Calhoun
- That pretty much sums up what this book should have been called. I just can't fathom how so many people have been duped into drinking the kool-aid that young Mr Ferriss expounds so carelessy in his book.
For those of you looking for the 'Cliff Note' version, I'll summarize in 3 points what this book is basically about:
1 - Look for ways to generate passive income (ie, make $$ with little or no work). In Mr. Ferriss' case, it's selling vitamin supplements online...yeah you heard it right.
2 - Make it your life's goal to become a slacker by outsourcing everyday tasks(eg, checking email, paying bills, online shopping, etc). Yes, everyone is as busy and important as Mr Ferris that they need to manage a team of personal assistants in India to check their email, pay bills and shopping online.
3 - Once you become a slacker, look for activities that will give you meaning in life. Young Mr. Ferris has some real gems of wisdom for you ;-)
The 4-Hour Work Week is complete utter waste of time and not worth the paper it's printed on. Check out at the library if you must waste 2-3 hours of your life skimming through the drivel.
- Interesting, but I think many of the concepts are difficult to apply in corporate America.

5 comments about Soul Wisdom: Practical Soul Treasures to Transform Your Life (Soul Power).
- This book can truly make positive changes on all levels of your being. The book gives you blessings after blessings. Reading this book allows you to connect with your soul in ways that would take lifetime otherwise.
You will learn to communicate wiht your soul and the Spirit world. It will give you all the tools to make a difference not only in your life but each person, place and thing will feel the effects and will be changed. Enjoy!
- Another book written by Master Sha and already a success, what I like about the book is how simple it is to read and understand, you do not have to have any kind of College or University degree to understand the contents of all the chapters written in this book. It is so simple to follow the exercises and gain all the wisdom given in this book that sometimes it is hard to believe that something like that can actually heal us. It also gives wisdom that transform your life.
Since I have done many of the exercises in all of Master Sha's books for over 3 years, I know that they work but we have to do them; talking about it is not enough. We have to be dedicated to practice these exercises in order to be able to heal any kind of illnesses that we may have, and if we don't have any illnesses, we can use these exercises to rejuvenate our organs or systems. There is also a nice surprise in this book, a CD with nice music to help us heal while playing it on our computer while we work in the office or at home. I recommend this book to all who are open to heal themselves.
- This Soul Wisdom book is like balsam for our souls. After reading it, you feel such inner peace and contentment because you just "know" deep inside that this simple but profound wisdom is the essential key of transformation! It is perfect truth in essence and simplicity; no need to "elaborate" further! This straightforward but profound wisdom touches powerfully the core of you. It sooths the yearning in all of us for deep wisdom and knowledge that help us realize why we are here in Mother Earth. It gives us the tools to apply them in our life in order to transform ourselves, and in so doing, affecting and transforming those around us in a profound way because as we transform and allow more light into our lives, there is more light in the lives of those we touch and are connected with. This book offers something so unique and powerful, unheard of before; a "divine tool," a divine transmission to help us transform faster every time we apply it...
Every time you read it, you "get it" a little bit deeper and from another angle and perspective. I have been able to look at situations in my life from a different angle -almost like an observer- and that has enabled me to transform those mindsets, attitudes, and beliefs that had to be transformed to advance further in my spiritual path, helping on the way all of my family. What an incredible treasure we have been given! May this gem of a book help you transform at all levels: spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical because they are all connected the way we are all connected to one another.
My greatest love and light to you all,
Gloria Muhlebach
- Dear Friends, my name is Nina, and only two months ago I attended a workshop in San Francisco where I met a wonderful spiritual master and Doctor, Master Sha, who healed me. After this meeting many miracles happened in my life. This experience helped me to start to learn Master Sha's teaching. I read a few book and took a few classes. One of the most amazing of Master Sha's books is Soul Wisdom. I really, really recommend to you this book. Lean how to heal yourself and others! Learn how to communicate with other souls, improve your relationships, financial issues, etc. Learn how to help yourself, others you love, and humanity. By reading this book you can learn that the soul has ability to be in charge and direct the mind. Master Sha's main statement is "SOUL HEALING IS TO HEAL THE SOUL FIRST. WHEN YOU HEAL THE SOUL, THE HEALING OF MIND AND BODY WILL FOLLOW!" Dear Friends, read this book. I love all of you, and wish all of you health, wealth, and happiness!!!
- This is an amazing book. Everything is made clear on how to heal yourself and others. You can heal your body, your relationships, your finances, all aspects of your life. This is truly a great blessing that Master Sha has given us this wonderful book and all the insights we need to take charge of your wellbeing at all levels. Read it, you will not regret. May you heal yourself with easy and speed.

5 comments about The Secret.
- If you are the sort of person who thinks it rains because you are in a bad mood, and not the other way round, this book might be for you.
If you are the sort of person who thinks the sun orbits the earth, this book might be for you.
If you think the earth revolves around you, this book is probably for you.
Thought experiment: I know the secret. You know the secret. We both want to win the race. Who gets it? If said whoever wanted it more, you probably already read this stupid, stupid book for stupid, stupid people.
- The first step to your own personal evolution. The truth about who and what you are and how you can make the most of your present day position.
- "The Secret" is fine for anyone who never read anything about this subject, or had a training or anything at all. It is basic. But didn't teach me anything new.
- The title sums it all. 'The Secret' is revealed in the first few pages of the book and the rest of the book just elaborates on 'The Secret'.
You become what you think so think positively, act positively, entertain positive emotions and curtail negative ones. If you want to live happily, think about being happy, if you want wealth think about it, if you want good health think about being healthy and the list goes on and on....The placebo effect is given utmost importance.
If a storm or a natural calamity kills masses, it's because of their thinking which happened to be negative in some capacity, totally unknown to them - Give me a break!
Abundance is the way to go. The book advocates 'Giving' but undermines 'Sacrifice'. Because, 'Giving' indicates prosperity and abundance and 'Sacrifice' indicates poverty. A tremendous let down to conventional religious patrons.
The book might be helpful if you are in deep distress but fails to impress any sane rational thinker. The author tries to substantiate her holistic approach through some quantum mechanics etc but doesn't do a good a job. If you become what you think and you think positive about yourself and 10 others think negatively about yourself. What happens then? What if 100 or 1000 think negatively about yourself. Are the effects totally and utterly negated against you? If you don't want to think much and just want some 'feel good' philosophy, then this book is for you and you will probably enjoy it.
- Loved this book... great life examples. Teaches you how to view life in an optimistic way and in turn get the things you really want. I highly recommend.

5 comments about The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment.
- There are no words that could describe this book! It's the most meaningful and the most important book for your soul/Being/life after the Bible! An absolute must for your awakening! Make sure you get and read the other books by Eckhart Tolle after this one, especially "The New Earth..." !!!!!!!
- xcellent book,i bought this for my daughter after her baby was stillborn and she found it helpful
- Words fail to describe what the time spent with The Power of Now has meant to me but I'll try. This book became my guide to a place that allowed me to tie together everything in my life and brought me to peace at a time of huge turmoil and really for the first time in my life. My spiritual beliefs also were brought into focus and made stronger. I have purchased copies of this book for some of my friends who were on their way to enlightenment and they too are finding a way peace that they have never had. You won't be sorry for the time you spend with this book.
- Don't know what Oprah is thinking about the ability of the author's words to inspire. I found it practically unreadable but laced here and there with some truthful generalities. I'd say Eckhardt Tolle has found a self-help formula that chooses gibbberish words from columns A and B that sells books. I purchased the book to take on a trip. Unable to stay with it, I even tried moving forward and finally gave up.
- Of Course Eckhart is my favorite, I just cannot read enough of his books. They have really helped me change my thinking and stop to enjoy life. This is a living 101 book all should read.

5 comments about The Last Lecture.
- Although I had expected a print version of the Pausch live last lecture, this little book of uplifting life lessons was a surprise and equally inspiring. I have suggested it for my book club during a season when we are otherwise busy and need a quick read.
- I am an eight year cancer survivor and was deeply moved by Randy Pausch's You Tube lecture, as well as this book. Randy gets personal and shares what I feel are invaluable life lessons that we all should live by, whether we are terminally ill or not. It is all about attitude and choices. All ages need to read. It puts your life in perspective. I believe that kids can really see what their future could be as workers, professionals, parents, etc. and what they can pass on to their kids.... I buy this book for friends that are graduating, retiring, etc. I plan on recommending to our school system to be required reading... My prayers are with Randy and his precious family, as I know what a cancer diagnosis can bring. My husband lost his first wife from cancer and his kids were 9 and 13 at the time. Life is a gift. Live in the present and use your gifts to the fullest.
- Randy Pausch is so inspiring. I think everyone should read this book. If the world followed his philosophy what a great, positive and happier place the world would be. If I am ever faced with a terminal illness I hope I can be 1/10 as positive as he is.
- Randy Pausch is an incredible human being. Most people faced with his diagnosis would sink into a big pit of self pity. He was amazing before he became infamous with his Last Lecture and even more so now. This book (and his actual lecture) will put your life in perspective. This book provides a little insight to one of the world's true role models. We should all strive to be like him. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. He'll have you laughing through your tears and leave you going WOW!
- I tried very hard to like this little book. I instinctively appreciate Randy and feel sorrow for his plight. He gives the impression as being very much an honorable guy, a good father and the college professor I never had but always wanted. Nonetheless, the book seems to be written for the simple of mind. Perhaps a life with college students had given Randy a fondness for straightforward homilies. There was nothing in the book that is either fresh or profound. The insights presented are Hollywood superficial.
The book's constant regressing to Disney, Star Wars, and Star Trek may be attractive to the college student. However, finding weighty insights from the ethos of a Jedi is an effort in futility. The book does give some comprehensible perceptions of the popular academic culture. Through analysis the book shows that the superficial and fallacies of concept of the Hollywood culture can be misconstrued as being full of deep and profound meaning. That being said, there are those that need such metaphors for a life's anchor and for those this book is ideally suited.
I hope nothing but the best for Randy and his family. If the reader is looking for a light book that reads like a screen play and isn't too mentally tasking than this is the book for them. If on the other hand the desire is for a profound and penetrating analysis of life's lessons and the meaning of existence than the reader will be disappointed.

5 comments about A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61).
- I ordered this by accident and was prepared to snark and sneer; however, I was pleasantly surprised that I read it in a couple of sittings and took away something of value. No, it doesn't reflect my belief system. No, it isn't particularly original. Yes, it can be viewed as popularized and diluted Eastern thought. However, as one who spends about 90% of life in her head, I need constant reminders to come to my senses (literally). Tolle does a nice of reminding me of this and gives some specific and useful tips as to how to achieve and maintain awareness.
I am a bit mystified by the perception that a single, childless man may not be credible as a writer on enlightenment. So we need to hold out for the mystical musings of the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe?
- A Unique Bunny
Oprah always knows a great pick--I love to read the books in her book club. This book truly woke me up to my purpose in life. This was an incredible awakening and I recommend this book to those who feel that they have no purpose in life. Thank you.
- I avoided reading this book at first, thinking it would just be more of the same, on the heels of The Power of Now. Then clients in my therapy practice started quoting it. Eckhart's talk about the ego seems to help men, in particular, to find a language that is comfortable for them in grappling with life issues. Then the book was handed to me by a friend who was passing them out at a birthday dinner. I really loved reading it. I enjoyed reading a few pages a day, and letting it sink in. It has been critiqued as a repackaging of ancient wisdom which we've all heard already from other sources. I agree with that idea to a point. Another perspective I have is that it is ancient wisdom in a fresh package. It was quite a joy to read. It is a true gift, and I am glad that Oprah is promoting it.
- If this book doesn't change your outlook on life, nothing will. I bought the book and the audiobook, but if you're deciding between the two, I recommend the audiobook. It's read by the author and his warm and friendly voice, tone, and inflection really helped me absorb his powerful lessons.
- "A New Earth" offers unique insights into suffering and the way to peace. Much of the material relates to a Buddhist perspective but the message is universal. Unlike his previous book "The Power of Now," which was focused strictly on personal transformation, this book takes a broader perspective. This book is about transforming the self and the world.
The message can be life-changing with insights on suffering, peace, beauty and social interaction. A must-read for a broad perspective on suffering and peace.
Another book that you have to read is "Nexus: A Neo Novel." "Nexus" offers an experiential story of suffering, and finding love and peace.
