- In sharing her own story of betrayal and divorce, Dinah Temple shows the reader in a supportive, constructive way, how to let go of the past and rebuild your life to be even stronger than before. She explores reasons why people walk away from their marriages, as well as why they leave their extramarital affairs. She identifies the types of people who pose a poor risk for the long run and offers a pyramid of discovery as a useful tool for understanding why your marriage went wrong. Dinah Temple has been there herself and understands the pain and confusion the reader is in. Her advice for rebuilding your life as a newly single person is full of hope and encouragement.
- I am to Chapter 8 now. It was so amazing to me the words I read with the instructions on what to do. It was exactly what I have been doing now since the divorce. It was legally final yesterday so I'm totally a free man now. As I was reading the book it was as if I could have written down everything I have been doing in my life now and we would have had two identical books. I know I have to be on the right track now!

2 comments about Quest for Personal Power.
- I was lying on my belly in the bath, satisfyingly successful at driving away the common-cold chills that had vied for my energy all day. I was thinking only about the warmth. Then I started thinking about being sick, and the times I had been sick before, particularly the time I taught kindergarten to impoverished migrants, and how disrespectful some of them had been, then about rotten children in general... And I started sneezing furiously.
Sitting up, I realized what I had done. I had let the mind chatter start again. But I also know I can turn it off. This singular suggestion was worth the price of The Quest for Personal Power, by Phil Nuernberger, Ph.D.
He has a book full of ideas, all based on Buddhist psychology (which is not the Buddhism religion). My beloved yoga sun salutation is there, though I recommend learning it from a video or class.
The author encountered Buddhist psychology after receiving his conventional psychology degree, and knowing that it wasn't enough. I have enjoyed reading a similar book at the same time. Thoughts Without A Thinker, by Mark Epstein, M.D., is from the perspective of someone who studied Buddhist psychology before studying to become a psychiatrist.
As an aside, these two books are the first ones I have read by men authors in quite some time. I have been doing the feminist thing for a while, unfortunately being only moderately and sporadically comforted.
- Too many books competently discuss the causes and symptoms of modern misery and unhappiness, but offer no practical solutions. They simply suggest to "change your beliefs" or offer other such vague advice. Dr. Neernberger brilliantly demonstrates the limitations of "positive thinking" and clearly shows that what we need is not more positivity, but instead, a quiet mind. He states that this is a handbook for self mastery. Mastery requires two conditions: self awareness and skill at using the built-in resources that we all possess. Then, he clearly explains exactly what has to happen to reach this awesome state. This book is satisfying to the intellect, but goes far beyond it. I have read literally hundreds of these kinds of books, and this is my favorite. I read it every day and will continue to do so, because I find new treasures each time I read it. This is an experience, not theory. (PS: it is from the Hindu tradition, not Buddhist).

- This was indeed one of the most helpful books on interpersonal problem solving that I have ever read. Dr. Cardinal is probably the most aware and insightful author on self-esteem to come along in many, many years. I would highly recommend that anyone who suffers from the many problems associated with lack of positive self-esteem, read her book. It will change your life! Thank you Dr. Cardinal.
- "In this complex and confusing world, Catherine Cardinal has simplified the most basic truths of achieving self-esteem. People should study and appy these commandments, then watch their lives change." Patrice Karst author of God Made Easy and The Single Mother's Survival Guide
- Where this book failed to deliver is exactly what it has been praised for, its simplicity...it is TOO simple. The book is positive reading, but only skims the surface of self-esteem. For those readers who have been on the path of self-discovery for sometime, The Ten Commandments of Self-Esteem contains nothing new. This book may, however, be of real value to teens and young adults.
- I am a therapist myself and understand the epidemic of low self-esteem and have also spent many years exploring my own choices and personal satisfaction. The thing that I found most intersting about Catherine Cardinal's book is that the content has the ability to reach the masses. Meaning the suggestions in the book provide an easy realistic approach to change. It provides the person who is newly walking their personal journey a practical non imtimidating guideline, one they can relate to and begin to introduce into their lives. For the more experienced traveler, the content rings true right to the core of the issues. The straight forward writing surpasses all the crap and reminds you what can be done and what is sane. I also love the wit of the titles. Using movement as the primary tool in my therapy "Trust thy body the mind doth fornicate with thee" is of course my favorite. Quote it all the time. Truly a great book that has the ability to reach and hopefully help many. I suggest it to all my clients.
- I thought I was purchasing a book that would go into detail about how to get to the 10 Commandments - instead I received what seemed like a booklet. It would have better if Cardinal had elaborated on her points.

- I am a guidance counselor who uses this book with fourth grade students. It provides an easy format for helping this age student understand that they have control of their feelings and reactions. It has helped some of my most difficult students to gain skill in social situations by controlling their own feelings. The more they understand themselves the more they can accept responsibility for their actions. This book helps them step by step to learn how to take that responsibility for their emotions and their lives. I recommend it heartily. (My students can check this book out from me to read at home. I was surprised at the number of parents who read it and commented that, not only did they enjoy it, but they also found themselves using the ideas in the book.) Nancy Lessig (rlessig@bellsouth.net
- I am a school psychologist who has used this book for 15 years with intermediate students. Ms. Anderson has translated the concepts of Ellis' Rational Emotive Therapy into a book which through pictures and examples clearly helps children grasp that feelings are not caused directly by events, but by what we think about the events. This key notion creates the possibility for change in how we interact with the world around us, and the book provides specific examples and practice in how to change our language to reflect more realistic beliefs about this world. Students enjoy the chapters and exercises, while learning how to interact more appropriately with peers and adults and to become more in control of their own behavior. I've also used the concepts effectively with parents because the book is so clear and pragmatic. I think parents could use the book effectively with their own children to discuss how we react to other people and the choices we have in our behavior. Best for ages 8 on up. A great book!

Kala has taken ancient Hawaiian knowledge and married this with ancient Tantric techniques to give us a practical guide to getting all we desire in this world and to becoming all we can be. This book is filled with practical exercises, breathing techniques and meditations that will literally make you a magnet for abundance in love, health, career, money...any area you wish to apply it to. Through this book one can see that Kala is truly a wise soul who has finally come into her own to bring all of us a wisdom long overdue. A MUST HAVE book!!
- I absolutely love this book..I have never seen anything like it and I have been studying self improvement books for as long as I can remember..and I noticed results right away. I love this book..
After my initial review, I suppose I should be more specific. She takes you through exercises to enhance your sexual and charismatic energy and shows you how to use this energy(as well as other types) to power you intentions to attract what you want in life..it goes far beyond what is taught in The Secret..kind of like The Secret On Steroids so to speak and it is a super easy read

5 comments about Success is a Journey: 7 Steps to Achieving Success in the Business of Life.
- Jeffrey Mayer has followed his own advice and become an expert on success through his own journey. He discusses specific tools such as ACT!that can be used to help structure one's path to success. I like his advice to work on important and sometimes hardest tasks first, that propel you forward to success.
- Many "success" books that I've read focus too much on philisophical changes or elaborate systems that the average person, like myself, have neither the time, nor patience, to implement effectively. In "Success is a Journey", Jeffrey Mayer gives you practical advise that you can put to work right away. A lot of the advice is familiar: set goals, keep a prioritized task list, maintain a good network of contacts. However, the book shows you how to do these things very easily, without having to adopt a cumbersome process. A lot of the advice just shows you easy ways to improve on the things you are probably already doing. I just finished the book, but already have put to use at least 5-6 of the suggestions which are already having a positive impact on my productivity. I strongly reccommend this book for anyone who wants to get a bit more organized and effective without redesigning their whole life.
- Jeffrey J. Mayer presents a series of success principles, time management techniques, and networking guidelines for becoming more successful. The book is easy-to-read and targeted to the individual in any type of business. A basic flaw of the book is the lack of originality in both ideas and presentation. Indeed, there are many well-worn platitudes about success and most of the time-management material will sound quite obvious. The workbook-type questions also have a familiar ring. Nonetheless, we [...] recommend the book to managers and executives who want to brush up on their time management skills.
- The book is a guide to keep business people focus on their objectives and what really matter - meaning business. It has helped me getting organized and being incredibly more efficient. You start by getting rid of the garbage on your desk then you learn how to prioritize your activity (do the hard work first). Some of those things seems straighforward but don't just read, practice and you will live the difference.
The journey to business success or life success is merciless but with organisation and focus you should be able to get over many hurdles.
- This book is chock full of ideas and tips that have been around for a long time. This knowledge, that everyone SHOULD have already, is packed into pages full of success tips, anecdotes, timesaving tips and things to remember. Each of those categories has its own icon, with the tip appearing in bold-face type. The result of this design is that the book is difficult to read from a flow perspective. The presentation makes the reader jump from one category to another then back to the basic text that was interrupted.
And there's no listing of all the success tips or all the timesaving tips to give the reader this kind of value all in one place. Many of the anecdotes are short paragraphs about a minor life experience, presented without embellishment or a real tie to the text other than commentary. The book does have an index, but more could have been done to consolidate the highlights. Mayer is also the author of four books on how to use the ACT! contact management software developed by Symantec. A significant part of this book is consumed with suggestions about how to use that program to be more organized and productive. The reader might get the feeling that this is yet another book on ACT! with some fundamentals of time and life management wrapped around it. You'll find tips on time management, networking, conversation, master planning, and more. If you're just beginning life in the business world, you'll probably find this book quite helpful. If you've been around for a while, you'll pick up a few tips but may become bored with the simplicity and the continual shallow presentation of multiple tips to be a success at whatever you do. In spite of the organization, it's all mixed up together like a tossed salad. Pick out the stuff you want to eat and leave the anchovies.

2 comments about Women, Decode the Law of Attraction: Crack the 6 Codes: How to Think, Act & Attract what you really want from life!.
- This book is SO well organized and the 6 codes are clear, and easy to grasp. Orly provides an abundance of great stories illustrating the key points, and simple exercises for cracking through the barriers to attracting what you want in life.
- Orly's new book: "Women Decode the Law of Attraction", is not only a great explanation of the Law of Attraction for women, but it also includes a useful workbook, a free dessert--"The Icing on the Cake." Orly offers a lovely bowl of cherries to her readers. Each cherry contains more exercises (in addition to the ones in the book) to reinforce the six codes introduced in the book. It's great to see a self-help book with a text that is clear and well organized. The codes in this book can be applied in different workshops- to all ages. In short, it is very well written and its message sinks in. As a coach myself, I highly recommend reading and practicing it more than once!

2 comments about Heart Peace: Embracing Life's Adversities.
- I highly recommend Adolfo Quezada's masterfully written book, Heart Peace: Embracing Life's Adversities. In the intro, he writes, "Life is a Tornado. It is a whirlwind that tosses and turns you...at the same time, at the center of it all, there is a peace that surpasses all understanding."
Holding a master's degree in journalism and counseling, Quezada writes that there was no darker time in his life than when his beloved son was killed. This book is written out of his personal journey, thereby bringing the authority and depth that only first hand experience can bring. However, this wise book goes beyond even that, to embrace the many kinds of suffering people have, making it universal in its message of hope.
Heart Peace is a gentle book that takes the reader by the hand and draws them into a fullness of understanding within their own unique hardship experience. Acting as a guide, it reminds us of truths we know in our hearts but often forget. Having also lost a child, I found Quezada's perspectives insightful, life-affirming and supportive. He addresses anxiety and fear of the unknown, teaching us that sometimes we can only control how we respond to the troubles, grief and bad things we experience. He inspires us to give purpose to our anxiety by making it manageable and useful.
An extensive, compassionate book filled with important phrases to underline, Quezada writes, "Our task is to take what is before us and break it down into bite size portions that we can chew and swallow without choking." In the excellent conclusion, he reminds us that nothing good comes from force, our strength lies in being truthful with ourselves and listening to the rhythm of God's heart. Anyone who is stressed out, going through loss or adversity of any kind will find this book an invaluable companion and resource of comfort, care and strength. It helped me in many ways, reminding me and anyone who reads it to focus on moving forward with courage, spontaneity and faith in the effectiveness of the tools God (and this book) provides.
- What really struck me about this book is its versatility. I liked the in-depth, comprehensive nature of the work that blends psychology with spirituality. As a resource, this book has much to offer. I found it to be a book for all emotional seasons of the human heart with its goal very clear: to offer encouragement, self-confidence and compassion for self and others. I found this to be an especially wise book. As a therapist, the author has a broad perspective that is nonjudgmental, inclusive and highly supportive. This book is a sound, practical and inspirational guide for anyone going through adversity of any kind. I highly recommend it.

5 comments about 31 Days to High Self-Esteem: How to Change Your Life So You Have Joy, Bliss & Abundance.
- The strength of the book is that it focuses on one item at a time. The key thoughts for each day are easy to remember and it uses excellent personal examples as well as those of others. I have used the method as outlined by Terry and it has made a positive difference in my life. Great book - easy to read and remember. Daily objectives are very clear and obtainable rather than philosophical and vague.

- Terry's innovative approach encourages people to break through barriers and limits they place on themselves. Simply written, each inspirational step is fully explained so I can apply what I've learned into my every day life. "31 Days to High Self-Esteem: How to Change Your Life So You Have Joy, Bliss & Abundance" is a refreshing and energizing book that helps me to release anxiety, relieve stress and enhances my clear thinking, thus improving my self esteem.
If you like this book, try "The First Element: Secrets to Maximizing Your Energy", which shows you how to take charge of your inner thoughts and understand how energy from your different environments affect your emotions.
- I was attracted to the book from his title and by the high marks it had from previous reviews but after reading it I found that most topics are about techniques and do not try to get to the problem of low self-esteem with an In-Out method, instead it's mearly ways to imagine your problem from different angles using pure imagination. the author could have summarized the book in 31 pages about the techniques which are useful to people who have the inside foundation of high self-esteem but are perplexed by the outside world. I would recommend the 7 habits of highly effective people as a foundation of any self improvement method.
- Mr. Bragg has hit a home run with this exceptional, transformational book. The book offers far more value than just self esteem. It is one of the best, most practical definitions and applications of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming.) The author combines the attributes of simple , easy to understand NLP concepts, and marries them to exercises that I have found very helpful in building self-esteem. The format is consistent throughout the book, and I might add, is a very productive, time efficient read. This is a must read for those that want to be more effective personally, and in their professional lives. A self-help book that delivers what it promises. Read this book to accomplish far more than the self-esteem promise it makes. Read it for practical everyday tips to increase your effectiveness as a human being, significant- other, Father, Mother, business leader, wife, husband, and occupant of a sapce on this earth. The methods covered in this book work! They are easy to follow, and have had a very positive impact on my life. Read this book before you read all of the others regarding personal development.
