- Back on Track tells how to handle the unexpected troubles that life can throw at you. Deborah Norville shares her experiences with the listener, from being on top as television's new "Golden Girl" to being unfairly vilified by nearly everyone in the media. Ms. Norville sheds light on what really happened on the Today Show with dignity and class and avoids giving others the nasty, hurtful treatment that was given to her.
Because this is an abridged copy of Back on Track, it lacks some of the details that are included in the hardcover. What it lacks in detail, it makes up for in its presentation. What I like about this (and other audio books) is that it is read by the author. Having the "book" read by a "celebrity" gives the personal touch, that just adds to the enjoyment for the listener. You'll love this audio book from this wonderful, intelligent and inspirational woman.
- I thought it was an autobiography about her struggle in the world of journalism, but it turned out to be a self help book rather than a story about her. Definitely a book to have when "your life throws you a curve".

- I thought this book would be more along the vein of The Bombshell Manual of Style in terms of uniqueness. There was a great introduction of mantras -- which is what got me to purchase this book, but the rest was ho-hum. The same old makeup tips, clothing tips, travel tips and diet tips all in a tiny little book. There are a thousand other books like it. Save your money!

3 comments about Alive and Well with Neptune: Transits of Heart and Soul.
- Wow! Buy this book! The chapter entitled "A Neptunian Tour of Our Natal Planets" is alone worth the price of the book and your time! Mr. Tierney simply "becomes" the planet he writes about. He brings the ponderous, foggy Neptune into our daily life so that we may effectively access it's energies and he does so in a manner that I have not experienced in studying any other book on Neptune. There are other excellent books on Neptune and I have read many of them and while Mr. Tierney leaves out none of the features of the other books, he simply relates them more clearly to "this world" and practical every day life.
Readiing this book is like mining for gold....you won't be sorry you took the time to investigate it's contents!
- Clarifying the meaning and function of astrological Neptune is not dissimilar to trying to converse underwater. You end up with a bunch of bubbles in your face that pop and leave you with nothing. Bil Tierney found a way to have that conversation about this nebulous ruler of the deep and actually give his readers something they can comprehend, keep and apply. He accomplishes this feat by being not only an adept astrologer, but also a masterful story teller.
This energetically written book provides much insightful information about Neptune's transits. Tierney includes a sometimes amusing review of our natal planets and houses---all from Neptune's perspective--plus he offers an uncommon way to look at mythological Neptune (especially the stormier side) in his Introduction. In Part Two, Bil is describing Neptune's influence in more down-to-earth ways, showing how this planet functions in our day-to-day world. Tierney's books reveal he is a deep but practical thinker who is very psychologically astute. And . . (very important to me), he is much fun to read!
- Just like "Alive and Well with Pluto" and "Alive and Well with Uranus", this book is fabulous in its clear writing and in its thoroughness of coverage. As other reviewers have noted, the murky waters of Neptune are the hardest to fathom, but Tierney makes sense for both practicing astrologers and for those undergoing Neptune transits themselves. He takes the reader through Neptune's transits of houses and planets, explains the themes and suggests ways of navigating them. Indispensable!

5 comments about The Ropes: 7Girls Have the Rules, Women Know the Ropes.
- I love how this book makes me feel! I am happily married and in my early 50s, and reading this book makes me feel so empowered. Any woman can command her world with the proper attitude, and "The Ropes" has helped put me in the proper mind-set. Whether you're married or single, it's important to feel attractive and exude confidence, and this book is the perfect guide to set your sights on that oh so easily attainable prize. I think it's a must-read for women of all ages!
- This delightful, fun book is full of tips for all women. Even if you are married this book is for you. Fitness, Men, Plastic Surgery (or not), Girlfriends (and what would we do without them?) it is all here. The author has been around for a long time (though judging by the cover photo who would believe!) and has seen it all and heard it all and she shares with us lucky readers all of the accumulated wisdom of her interesting journey and experience in the world we now need to navigate.
Wonderful!!
- I read this book in one sitting. I especially liked that the tips were accompanied by step by step ways to implement them. Very refreshing! Very hopeful!
- Here is a synopsis: She's bitter, bitter, bitter about her divorce. She considers "working" as hosting a dinner party. She thinks that average sized women should be proud, but she's a Size 6... she's a Size 6... she's a Size 6... oh, did she forget to tell someone that she's a Size 6? And her idea of a good time is to have sex with someone whose only qualification is to be slightly above half her age. This woman is ICKY!
- I bought this book for my best girlfriend for Christmas. She loves it. Said it's funny and yet very informative. I can't wait to read it!

3 comments about The Re-Education of the Female.
- "The Re-Education of the Female" by Dante Moore is definitely a hilarious read. This is one of the funniest books I've read this year!
Dante Moore chooses a very controversial topic to write about - women - which will always be a topic with two sides. He gives tips from finding a man to keeping a man. In this reviewer's opinion, he still has a lot to learn about women. I found this book very funny, but unfortunately not interesting. It did not teach me anything helpful about finding a man, and I felt a little degraded by his standards required by women. . Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and Dante has definitely shown his true feelings within this book. I would look forward to reading more of his books in the future...as long as the subject is not women.

- I had the opportunity to read this book and interview the author, interviewing the author in the latter. I found the book insightful and honest. I did not agree with many of the points on religion but the social aspect of what Mr. Moore is saying is definitely on point. So many women listen to their bitter aunts and mothers and sometimes grandmothers that they are not sure what it takes to get a man, keep a man or know when to leave a man. Mr. Moore is giving women his uncut un-brotherly love advice. He embodies the man that did you wrong, the man that loved you the most and the sneaky bastard that cheated on you. Mr. Moore gives it to you straight no chaser with his depictions that come off as harsh and insensitive at times. Truthfully, if any woman was a fly on the wall and could speak to male on a no holds barred honest level, they would get some of the same conversation that Mr. Moore has done. We do not have to sneak and hide in the barbershop closet to get the low-down on what some men, if not most, even the nice ones think. It's right here in this book.

- Dante Moore says he is keeping it real, and delivering the all-out truth about men and women engaging in conversations, relationships, affairs, and sexual encounters.
I will admit the book is candid and direct, and at times painfully enlightening as he shares intimate details about what men look for physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. But, some of the commentary seems a bit biased and unfounded as he shares what men actually witness, experience and, his word, 'tolerate'! Readers will need a mature, open-mind to appreciate the point of view presented in this re-education. While this maybe a good starting point for women to evaluate themselves, before complaining as to why they can't find a "good man." It is an excellent starting point for men to determine if they are as superficial as the book depicts, and if it is a good image.
I'll give Moore points that he had the nerve to write with a no-holds-barred approach, but I must share that at times this male's point of view read like a domineering ultimatum. To me, it said when it comes to the male psyche, it is what it is, deal with it or else...
THE RE-EDUCATION OF THE FEMALE pointed out some interestingly negative traits, which were camouflaged with a positive testosterone-laden voice. There may be cause for the female to be re-educated, but Moore sure as heck made me acutely aware that 'someone' needs to be educated. I do not doubt the validity of his message, but I was taken aback that I was suppose to swallow all of it and like it. All and all it is book I'm glad I read.

2 comments about A Homeowner\'s Guide to Mortgage Acceleration.
- I am a mortgage professional. I found this book to be outdated. It does not discuss the state of the industry methods and products for mortgage acceleration. I was dissappointed and re-read the table of contents hoping I had missed something. I was looking for a book to hand out to my clients. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
- As a homeowner preparing for retirement, I was looking for a book that would teach me how to get rid of my mortgage before retirement. After reading the book, I now see light at the end of the tunnel (30 year mortgage). The book teaches homeowners how to do it themselves without paying fees to mortgage companies or brokers. I will be able to knock 10 to 15 years off my mortgage and save thousands in interest. The method demonstrated in the book is proven, timeless and effective.

- Ms. Carlino provides an almost mystical insight into our most personal thoughts. Not only are Ms. Carlino's words inspirational, the author provides examples and tools that help the reader work through a process of self-understanding and self-improvement. The imagery provided by the seven colors of the rainbow serves to underscore the differences each of us have in measuring the importance of work, play, family, and God in our daily lives. At the same time, the rainbow underscores our common need to keep them all in balance if we are to live happy and productive lives. It is only through a merging of these colors that we are able to truly fulfilled.
The Rainbow Connection offers something of value to everyone who has the pleasure of reading it, regardless of age or background. Ms. Carlino speaks to the importance of our spiritual needs and how we must attend to them if we are to be complete human beings. The message is clear: don't just read The Rainbow Connection, act on it. The author shows us how. This is a must read for anyone who cares enough about themself to want to grow healthy in mind and in body. The attentive reader will recognize the author as an immediate and caring friend.
- What a treat. The journey of self discovery aided by thought provoking images and ideas. Ms Carlino lets the reader explore their own feelings with out being preachy. A wonderful book to give as a gift to someone you love.
- If you're feeling lost in a world spinning increasingly out-of-control, reach out and grab "The Rainbow Connection" --- a self-help/awareness book like none other that leaves you not only feeling better about yourself, but your future as well. This book will help you find your own unique path to lead you into the new millenium with a renewed faith and confidence that you never thought possible. - This book invites you to take responsibility for your own life. It helps you to see how past hurts influence the negative choices we make in our lives in the present. By learning how to forgive and love, who we are right now, taking God as our partner; is all part of the healing journey. The workbook pages are nice. It's introspective and spiritual but people of all faiths can read this book..it is not for "one" religious faith. It's really univeral to all people.

2 comments about The Power of Optimism.
- ... I have found this book is such an amazing one. Doctor McGinnis is such a wonderful psychiatrist. Listenning to his audiobooks made me feel delighted, more positive about my life and everything around me. I just wanted to say "Thanks" to him. I have learned much from it. Everything that he mentioned and taught was not only for depressed individuals but for the optimistic persons as well. I hope he could continue to write books and have more audiobooks available for all of us.
- Accomplishing goals, living a worthwhile life, and getting along with other people are all part of McGinnis' stragetgy for living abundantly. Optimism is an intangible force that has practical consequences. McGinnis describes it as a "can-do" philosophy. A quote he takes from William James brings the theme of individual control out even more when he writes "The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind." McGinnis argues that this mind-set can result in people being elevated to the top of their fields. In part this is because activity results when people are optimistic. Without action entropy causes a system to break down. It is through active involvement that entropy is successfully overcome. Activity is stimulated as optimists create and maintain synergy with like minded associates. Reading is another form of stiumlation found among this group. Even more important than relationship maintainence and good reading, McGinnis stresses the importance of prayer. Optimistic achievers are perpetually young regardless of their chronological years he points out because "regardless of their age, they have a stubborn belief that their personal best is yet to be." More good news is reported in that optimism can be leaded. He says he read almost a thousand biographies and analyzed the lives of many successful people before drawing the conclusions he makes in this wonderful book. I highly recommend it.
