Long before Carolyn Myss and other influential intuitive mystics, Orisen Swett Marden knew the effect that negative thoughts have on the body and one's life-force: "Joyfulness keeps the heart and face young." In this simple but profound "how-to" book, one learns inner strength and character and how to cultivate thoughts that keep the mind and body healthy and one's environment optimistic and hopeful. Very inspiring and influential. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like better control over their life and their attitudes toward it.

1. This book got me through my breast cancer treatment. It was truly a lifeline. Just at the moment that i thought i couldn't cope this book really gave me a way. I continue to use some of these images when life is difficult. I highly recommend this book!



2. As a psychotherapist, I was thrilled to come upon this book. I have recommended it to my patients who have breast cancer. It contains such powerful tools!
   Being diagnosed with breast cancer and having to cope with treatment and all its ramifications is overwhelming. Nothing in life prepares us to deal with getting this diagnosis. Burton's book provides a road map for coping on a daily basis. It gives the breast cancer patient visualizations that takes her mind away from the problem and starts an emotional healing process. For those patients who are not familiar with visualization or relaxation techniques, this book introduces an important coping mechanism that actually has been shown (NIH studies) to boost the immune system of cancer patients.
   The book can be read all at once or a little bit at at time. My patients report constantly referring to it through their treatment and calling upon favorite images at other times in their recovery.
   I highly recommend this book for everyone with breast cancer and for survivors.

5. One of the most wonderful books I have ever read. I inadvertently found this book in the self-help section of the Park Slope Barnes & Noble. I'm not a victim of breast cancer directly, yet I've known friends who have passed and others who survive Stage 5. I found the life affirming, visualization techniques to be instrumental in my own healing processes. I return to this simple, beautiful and eloquent book, when I need hope and peace. Its a very lovely expression and testimony of Wendy's courage and strength; honest, inspiring and genuine.

1. This small book made an important difference in my life. Example after example of people being kind to each other penetrated and softened my pressured, irritated heart, and made me a better person. It reminded me of something crucially important, something I had forgotten. And how wonderful to be reminded. When I began to put kindness and love into practice, the world transformed from something dull and disappointing into something beautiful and sweet. This is a book about the most important thing in the world.



2. As stated in the preface, acts of kindness need not be elaberate or planned. This small book is a treasure trove of esperiences of kindness, given and received. Some are big, like a complete christmas provided for a family down on its luck. Some are small, like not hitting back. It is a reminder that we all have the capacity to reach out. I took this book to church with me, in case the services got too boring. I read it, my kids read it , and I have since reread it several times since. A gentle nudge towards becomming a kinder person.



3. This is a darling book, that truly gives you many ideas on how to go just a little bit out of your way to make life better for someone (or in some cases, many others) else. It's a short book, but long on impact. If you're looking for a "rememberance" book for someone graduating, this would be perfect.

1. This book is very comprehensive, clearly, well organized and explaind, easy to understand. The book is realy fabulous. I highly recommend it.



2. Best Book Written On This Subject!

   I have read many books on numerology, but he describes in full detail the solar/lunar conversion that I have never heard about before that is very accurate. It is very insightful into other realms I didn't think possible to understand. He has done a great job explaining exactly how to interpret what these numbers mean also.




3. But I give it five stars anyway. Just when I thought that I'd learned all there was to learn about numerology, and just when I thought that I'd heard of every possible way to use numbers to diagram lives, along comes this book. It has many "innovative" methods to tell lots about different personality types using personal info such as date of birth, name, etc. It also gives compatability information along with number and personality signs. There are methods of numerology in this book that most practicing "numerologists" probably don't even know about--it's that diverse, interesting, and innovative. Though I'm interested in these things, I'm a die-hard skeptic. I was a non-believer until I did a few diagrams for myself, and then for people that I know. The nail was hit dead on the head each time. Move over, Western astrology, and make room for Chinese numerology!



4. Chinese Numerology: The Way to Prosperity & Fulfillment is Richard Webster's latest book, and it's a fascinating guide to the arcane world of numerology.

   Webster explains how, nearly 4,000 years ago, Wu of Hsia discovered a special tortoise shell. The markings on the back of the shell formed a magic three-by-three square. Named the Lo Shu grid, the square was regarded as magic "because every horizontal, vertical, and diagonal row added up to fifteen," a number of great significance in ancient China.

   Chinese numerology, as well as I Ching, feng shui, and other Chinese divination techniques, evolved from the Lo Shu grid.

   Three systems of Chinese numerology are currently in use, and Webster presents complete directions on how to use each of them. He starts with the Western version of Chinese numerology, which is the easiest to learn. He explains how to calculate your life path number, and the significance of each number. For example, "people with a life path number of 6 are nurturing, caring, and responsible," while 22's "are able to achieve anything they set their minds on."

   He then shows how to calculate individual strengths and weaknesses, using personal Lo Shu grids. He presents grids of celebrities as examples. Edgar Cayce, Beethoven, and Mozart all had grids indicating growth in knowledge and wisdom through great personal losses.

   Webster explains that "we live our lives in nine-year cycles. Each year contains a different energy, and if we work with the energy, or tone, of the year we will progress smoothly and quickly. Conversely, if we fight the tone of the year, we will struggle all year long." He then presents a simple way to determine which year you are in and gives examples of what kinds of activities are good for each year of the cycle.

   Traditional Chinese numerology uses the Lo Shu grid, but the numbers are determined using the lunar calendar rather than the Western solar calendar. Not to worry--Webster includes an extensive solar-lunar conversion chart in the appendix.

   The Ki, or Nine House Divination, is more complex. It "starts with the same magic square, but the numbers change position every year creating nine different combinations." In addition, the numbers are associated with the basic elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Each number also has its own color.

   Whether you are simply interested in learning what numerology is all about, or wish to use it for character analysis or planning your future, you'll find Chinese Numerology informative and helpful.
