  1. This book can help anyone feel better about themselves. It really goes to the heart of low self esteem. It has lots of activities and hints and is easy to read. The world would be a better place if everyone loved themselves a little more.

  2. This is one of the best self-help books I've ever read about self-esteem. It's a short and easy read but the real help comes if you actually think about and work through the exercises. The book does more than "point fingers" at causes of poor self esteem. Instead it deals with practical ways to work through issues and accomplish healing. This is the type of book you want to own so you can return to it whenever your image of yourself starts feeling tarnished.

  1. I bought this as a gag gift for my stingy brother who thinks he is a very generous person. It had quotes and ideas related to generosity printed on designed background. No real pictures or photographs appear in the book.

  1. The title of the book says it all. I purchased this for someone else and I also read it myself. Even for someone with a positive attitude the book is still a good read. It definitely opens the eyes of someone who sees the negative side of things or is always thinking negatively. It is an easy and quick read which is more understanding rather than dictating.

  1. This book has the wrong Title!. It should be titled "How Life Works". One of the best books summarizing the principles of leading a successful life. This easy-to-read book explains and gives examples of all those qualities we need in life from self-discipline through family realationships. It essentially summarizes the "Phoneix Foundation Training Seminar" as presented by Brian Tracy (a $500 seminar) in crystal clear clarity. A "must-read" for all teenagers (and adults) who have suffered loss of self-esteem from parents who did not know how to raise their children and teach them the skills necessary for life. An excellent gift for a friend or relative.

  2. At a time when nothing seemed pissible, I desperatelly searched for "motivation". My soul was willing, but my flesh was defeated. It seemed as if nothing could get through to me. This book reached that stubborn, defeated side of me that was crippling me. Part of it was that I trusted this book with all my heart. During that time I trusted no one, so I searched for help in a book. I could not of come to a better work! This book turned my life around! Again and again, following the steps that this book inspires has led me to much success in climbing the Navy's rank structure and also in my personal relationships. This book has God's Blessing and will reach and enpower anyone who picks it up. I just thank God for using George Shinn to lift me out of the deepest valley I've ever been in. It is very clear that the Lord Jesus Christ worked through this book to help me. Back then I did not know Christ, but George Shinn did.

  3. I found this book at a used bookstore while on vacation. This is the best book I have in my library on "Motivation!" It is truly one of my favorite books of all time. It has very easy examples of how to motivate yourself to reach any goals or objectives you have. A real gem!

3 comments about Tips for Daily Living Cards (Large Card Decks).
  1. One of the best healing decks I own, it only compares to Louise Hay cards. This are not affirmation cards, each card ask you a question in one side, on the other side an empowering action is suggested. The actions are to be taken "NOW" in the present moment or day.
Buy this deck, it is a gift of love your soul will be grateful for!
The only thing is that my cards came without the box, just covered with plastic (Saran paper), and I found here that they are supposed to come in a beautiful box. I bought them in Borders, full price, $ 15.99.

  2. I love inspirational card sets and this is one of the most beautiful and interesting sets I've yet to encounter. Iyanla Vanzant is a best-selling author who has created these cards to encourage you to address critical life issues in a creative manner.

Each cards a question that lads you to a variety of answers within and a few answers on the back of the cards.

Front: "When are you going to stop doing the things that bring you pain?"
Back: "Are you willing to live pain-free today? There's no need to endure pain. Simply do what feels naturally right and good for you."

Front: "Where in your life can you show more compassion?"
Back: "Are you willing to demonstrate compassion today? Allowing yourself to see things from the other side of the table opens the door to understanding more."

You will encounter questions about living with passion, areas of your life that need attention, fears you have to address, what brings you happiness, appreciating yourself, listening to others, speaking the truth, forgiveness, anger, simplifying your life and letting go of the past. There are so many topics that we deal with on a daily basis.

Through these 50 cards, you can learn to follow the wisdom of your heart. I've found that mostly I just need a reminder of what I'm supposed to be focusing on this busy planet. Often we focus so much on one issue that we forget to weave all the elements of our existence into a beautiful tapestry. These cards help you to find those threads you lost someplace along the way and while reading these cards your life can become more complete and fulfilling.

Cards to help you become a more beautiful soul! I love the artwork on these cards. This set of cards works well with your journal. You can write the answers in your journal and that way you will be able to reflect on the questions and answers. That is a good way to see where you have been and where you are heading on your spiritual path.

    ~The Rebecca Review

  3. I gave these away at a NAWBO event and everyone loved them. They are empowering without being religious and truly embrace all ethnic groups and religions. The art and messages both are wonderful and inspiring and not offensive to anyone! Great for times when a sense of higher guidance/inspiration is wanted but no specific spirituality or religion.

  1. I was a painful load for myself, not to mention my family. Though they had been so kind to me, it was only for my being the support to them. I read this book (The Power of Positive Thinking), and I thank God for having bestowed in Dr. Peale so many blessings upon humanity. I quit drinking. I began to apply all the methods sugested in the book, specially that of reading from the Scripture before going to bed. I did this specially dedicated to my litle ones. The results were amazing; a lot of beautifull things have happened since then. There is no room here to tell you. I love God. I love Jesuschrist; I love His church and I love The Holy Spirit. May God permit all His creatures that longe for true life and happiness show His countenance to them. May my humble testimony serve others to feel encouraged to "Try and see that The Lord is good."

¡God bless you all out there!

4 comments about Talk to Me: Conversation Tips for the Small-Talk Challenged.
  1. This is definitely one of the best books on conversation and social interaction--and specifically, on small talk and dealing with those aspects of social life that are integral in getting what you want and creating satisfying relationships. The book is brief, but packed with good ideas and very enjoyable to read.

  2. Title of the book is misleading. I thought it would help me with "small talk" but there are only 4-5 pages about that. ALL of the book is common sense stuff with nothing special to help you in small talk situations.

  3. Great book, good shape. Thanks.

  4. I geuss maybe I didn't quite understand the description of this book because it was not what I expected. The different chapters gave examples of what could be said in one-on-one conversations. It did not help me as much as some other books such as "Conversationally Speaking". If you need help with conversation skills and social anxiety disorder, this is not the book for you.

5 comments about The Self-Forgiveness Handbook: A Practical and Empowering Guide.
  1. With The Self-Forgiveness Hanbook, Rutledge has given us all (the readers) a wonderful, and much needed gift. The road less traveled is significantly smoother thanks to Thom Rutledge.

  2. This book goes a very long way in helping you change your unrelenting standards that you set for yourself. It gives you the tools and tell you how to use them. The metaphors help make sense of the information. I think Thom Rutledge must have spent some time inside my head.

  3. Forgiveness is a concept more often associated with spirituality than with psychology, or at least that's how it used to be. Increasingly --- over the past twenty-five or thirty years --- the line of demarcation between spirituality and psychology has blurred. For the purist from either discipline this may be disturbing. The traditionally trained psychotherapist's world is contaminated with the introduction of spiritual concepts (especially those that defy rational explanation) such as soul, God, and forgiveness. For the deeply religious, the insistence on scientific principle associated with psychological theory, not to mention the tendency to not necessarily honor mother and father, can be offensive.

In as much as the two disciplines can still be distinguished from one another, this is a book of psychology --- specifically, an exploration of the psychology of the relationship of the Self with the Self. For some readers, this will quite naturally involve their spirituality, but there is no prerequisite belief system to benefit from the Self-Forgiveness Handbook. All that is required is a desire to feel better about yourself and your life.

Too often, self-help books dwell predominantly on the explanations of how we became so . . . well, in need of self-help books, and then devote only a few chapters (toward the end of the book) about how we might recover from our now well-understood dysfunction. I want The Self-Forgiveness Handbook to be of practical use to you beginning with page one, chapter one. I want this book to be a box of tools you can learn to use --- with practice --- to make a real difference in your life. Please let me know what you think.

  4. Have you ever read a self-help book that actually changed your life for the better? I have read dozens, but the change only lasted for about two weeks. Thom Rutledge's The Self-Forgiveness Handbook: A Practical and Empowering Guide is refreshing among self-help material, because the change in my life has been long lasting.

The Self-Forgiveness Handbook is packed with insight that guides us from self-criticism to self-compassion. Unlike other self-help books that dwell on explanations of how we became so in need of self-help and devote only a few chapters at the end of the book to actually changing, Thom's book provides us with practical and easy to remember techniques from page one. This means that we start changing from day one.

As Thom takes us from where we are to where we want to be, the laughing never stops. His unique sense of humor lives throughout the entire book. Not only did I smile as I turned the pages, but I felt as if I was simply having a conversation with Thom. I suggest that you read The Self-Forgiveness Handbook if you want to feel better about yourself and your
    life - for a lifetime.

  5. the guy was a little silly to me, but the message he speaks improved and became something of great value. i have read other books that prepared me for self-reflection and change, some important ones being 'bonds that make us free' by c. terry warner and 'non-violent communication' by marshall rosenberg. this book helped me to recognize some thought voices that had been directing alot of my distorted belief system and giving me much grief in the cycle of guilt, shame and anger. it's so freeing to be able to separate myself from those hurts and subsequent choices that lead to further separation from myself and my needs and beliefs. this book helped in that process. i was abit primed for this stuff, and almost thought it didn't have anything to offer me at first. then i started realizing other ways that our 'should monsters' work, ie. defenses against others, feeling a need to protect oneself, etc. yet i have the feeling that it could be easy to follow for most people, and used to reach deeper places inside, depending on the need. you can be who you want to be.
