5 comments about The Nice Guys' Guide to Getting Girls 2: You CAN be a Nice Guy & STILL Attract Women!.
- This book is extremely remedial. The book is mostly fluff with about 4 solid concepts. The guys in the book do not appear to be 'nice guys' either, but horny toads with poor social skills. the book does nothing to address actual relationships beyond the introduction and the bedroom.
Conclusion: pretty much garbage.
- If there was an option for 0 stars, this book would definitely deserve it. The two fellows who wrote this book are scammers. Please do not buy this book unless you want to waste your money. If you use any concept from here, you will make every girl run for the hills because there will be no attraction.
- I bought this book thinking it would have helpful pointers with women, but this 'complete guide' is nothing but a bunch of fluff. 16 pages into this book i come across a sentence that should have been on the BACK of the book. It says, this guide assumes that you have read our other two books, blah, and blah. At the start of every chapter they shamelessly plug thier other books, "in our last book, blah, we taught you how to blah, now continuing on from that point..." Do not buy this book, it is very misleading and has little helpful information in it.
- I don't know how this book even made it to publication! What a bunch of useless drivel. I DID read it front to back though. It constantly, and I mean constantly, references the author's previous two "works," which gets extremely annoying. This is merely an "add-on" to their last two books, which, if this one is any indication, must be full of useless information as well. Stay away from this particular volume in any case.
If you want a good book on how to approach people (yes women too) and keep conversation flowing, I'd recommend "How to talk to anyone" by Leil Lowndes.
- I've read a lot of books about dating.
I rarely give one star to a book. But this one deserved my coveted special award.
TWO THUMBS DOWN!

5 comments about Power Talk: Using Language to Build Authority and Influence.
- This book was full of everyday scenarios, which were interpreted in a very narrow way to show the author's point. The connections between the examples and her points were vague at best. The real problem with this book is that it would only appeal to those with very little self-confidence, and if that person took the advice to heart the result would be laughable.
- I really don't think that changing my voice mail will help me succeed in my corporation. The author talks about mixing two forms of language (Edge and Center) to have a perfect communication with the people you work with (employees, employers, boss, etc) and never tells you how to mix these concepts... and besides, if a certain form of language works for me, center or edge, I really don't see the point on changing the way I speak.I never close a book forever before finishing it but after reading a couple of pages after the middle of the book and realized that I could be reading something else so I decided to stop with the torture.
- This book made a profound difference in the way I conduct my business. I was an "Edge" person to the extreme. I had always been taught that asking questions and constantly probing was the best and most powerful way to deal with clients and prospects. Not so! There's a time to stop asking and start "telling."
My clients want confident advice from me. They don't want to sit around and explore options forever. I do not understand some of the negative reviews of this book. I found it to be a great help.
- The first six chapters are helpful and contain useful information about the use of Language from the Center and from the Edge. However, the next two chapters are simply the author's social commentary about not pre-judging people on their differences in communication. The last chapter is just an overview of the study of linguistics.
- It seems as if authors and publishers have decided to sell something that is marginal at best, just include the words Power,Prestige, wealth all seemingly offering some simple strategy to imporove and empower your life, Power talk fails to live up to its title. It is a ok book on how we talk and what the 2 distinct communication styles are all about. But it doesnt take a 200 page book to tell us that the key is to merge the two? This book is geared towards salespeople and corporate executives, if you work for a firm of 20 or less this probably won't help much. The key to success is adaptation to the enviroment your in rather than discuss key words or stratagies for enhancing vocabulary, structure , etiquitte this book just rehashes the adaptation philosophy. Probably great for some but the majority will just be wasting their time with this title.

5 comments about Esteemable Acts: 10 Actions for Building Real Self-Esteem.
- This book offers real-life suggestions on how we can be the quality of person we want to be now, not someday. The book shines with credibility because the author has "been there, done this." Her stories of how she overcame a rough beginning prove than ANYONE can develop more confidence if they follow her suggestions. This highly readable and encouraging book gives readers supportive, practical recommendations that will help them turn their intentions into actions.
- The book Esteemable Acts, is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. Francine Ward speaks a lot about walking thru fear -- something i don't do often in my life. She also talks of living your best life, making your dreams come true, and financial freedom. They are the three things I didn't think I could do.
Esteemable Acts teaches you step by step how to make ALL THINGS POSSIBLE. Granted I needed the willingness to take the suggestions in the book, but they really aren't that hard. I've decided to go back to school, and i'm interviewing for a new job. I've moved in with a roommate and am walking thru that fear. I've never felt as good as I do today. Today is by far the best day of my life! Esteemable Acts is a book that has helped me change my life. I'm becoming the person I've always wanted to be!
- How can you expect other's to know who you are when you don't know yourself? Esteemable Acts is a self-help book based on helping you identify yourself and overcome issues and excuses that's holding you back from being all you can be.
This is one of those books that help you understand why you do some of the things you do and help you identify why things turn out the way they do in your life. You will need to be honest with yourself in order to take the self-help test. Once you realize what you need to do you will find out no-one knows you better than you do. I really enjoyed this book and most of what I read helped me (Ok, the majority of what I read helped me...see I admitted it). Thank you Ms. Ward for a well-written book. You really did your research.
- I was lucky enough to meet Francine at a book signing and she is indeed an impressive person. The book flows well and Francine's personal story is really the inspiration. I find when I don't feel like doing something I repeat what she said to our group.
"It's an esteemable act to....." and then I do it anyway.
She does not advocate any quick fixes, just constant small esteemable acts.
- What a great book! Ms. Ward summarizes in just a few hundred pages what it took me nearly 30 years to learn. Her story is so inspiring that it left me just mesmerized. The road she traveled to become a success was so long that it makes it easy for the reader to say, "Wow, if she can do it, then so can I!"
The book is well written, engaging, and very enjoyable to read. There are many specific exercises to do so that you can implement her suggestions and look deeply into your own life. I can't say enough good things about this book. I have already bought many copies to give as gifts, particularly to the young adults in my life who have so much potential and are sabotaging themselves with all the daily manifestations of poor self esteem.

5 comments about Confidence: Finding It and Living It.
- This book doesn't beat around the bush. Barbara gets straight to the point -- how to find confidence and how to BE it.
It's really a wonderful book and I would recommend everyone to get it. To Barbara DeAngelis, if I may dare (for I am a great fan), I would recommend making the book longer with more examples and more insight. I felt that it was a bit short (though that's what some people need) and I was kind of hoping for a bit more hand-holding and encouragement. But still, 5 stars!!!! :-D Thank you, Barbara, for all your wonderful books!
- It's hard to rate self-help books, in my opinion. On the one hand, if someone can take a bit of advice and use it then it must be worth it. On the other hand, most of the advice is usually common sense, just repackaged info you've heard before, and/or full of fluff.
This book is a real quick read. I do like the author's definition of confidence which basically is "To be true to yourself and take action where/when you feel it needs to be taken, and don't be afraid to look bad." She then goes into three areas of confidence; behavior, emotional, and spiritual. She states that spiritual confidence is perhaps the most important because you have to have a belief that things are going to work out for you in the long run. I thought this particular idea was basically fluff and can be summed up into one word, optimism. Self-help books are not miracle pills, they are like private pep talks. The first 2/3 of this book got me invigorated to go out and live life with more confidence!
- As a Psychologist, I can honestly say that this is the best self-help book on confidence that I have ever read! It is short and to the point, yet very rich in extremely helpful and worthwhile information. I refer many of my clients to this book.
- DeAngelis, a relationship guru who has been married five times, attempts to explain what confidence is, how to develop spiritual confidence, and secrets for discovering your inner power. A basic how-to book, it does not deal with current career related issues.
- Very Hardy case! Just have to open the case all the time to use the keyboard.

5 comments about The Path to Love: Renewing the Power of Spirit in Your Life.
- Deepak Chopra's presentations on mind, soul and god are abstract , confused technically and practically incorrect . His contributions on above subjects are invariably taken from India's ancient texts :Vedas which in actuality also contain the theoretical details of attaining the SUPREME BLISS (GOD as we all call him) during the course of meditation on the campus of Sadguru ( the DIVINE PREACHER ) who used to impart Brahma Gyan ( Realisation of Supreme Being.) I am shocked to hear Dr Chopra talking frequently about Mind,Soul and God so confidently without thinking an iota about the subtleness of mind, soul. Can Dr Chopra tell me the origin of mind in human body ? where is the point in the body where it rests/remains quiet ?what is the technique to quieten the mind ? How to control the mind when our eyes are opened and how to quieten it.where mind stays with pran ( life forces ) when it rests ? what is soul, how does it look like and where it is situated in the body ? and lastly what exactly connects the soul and the Supreme being ? There is a very subtle device which is visible if you practice meditation under Sadguru ( DIVINE Preacher) who has that divine power to quieten the mind to the point of its origin.Merely talking and giving jargonised lectures does not lead one anywhere about mind soul and Supreme being. Vihangam Yoga is the only kind of Brahma gyan meditation where these concepts are experienced in practicality by the practitioners during the course of Meditation.Any other effort to know these concepts is merely adding few more pages to the discussion. Remember God is not a subject of discussion like anyother topic,he is the one to be experienced within yourself, provided you have found the SADGURU ,who is only one on this planet . aksinha@gems.vsnl.net.in
- I purchased this book as a Christmas gift to myself in 2000. I began reading it in January of 2001 and this year has been my best and most rewarding year. I read this book and was able to internalize every insight. I now understand what REAL LOVE is. In this book, Deepak Chopra makes it a no-brainer decision to incorporate love and truth in my daily life.
- Deepak Chopra has a very gentle and lovely writing style. He's a great teacher who has helped me to see the simplicities of soul beyond the complexities of character. This book has helped to make me a more gentle, conscious, responsible contributor in my relationship with my significant other. Love is the all.
- This is a Highly practical fascinating book for a true spiritual seeker who wants to improve up on themselves. Even though this seems to be based on the eastern religious text, very good inspiring book. Every time I read, I find some thing more that inspires me to Love.
- THIS IS A VERY EYE-OPENING BOOK. IT HAS REALLY HELPED ME AND MY RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH HARD TIMES. IT WILL CERTAINLY LIFT YOUR SPIRITS AND MAKE YOU STOP AND THINK ABOUT A LOT OF DIFFERENT ISSUES IN YOUR LIFE.

4 comments about A Thousand Paths to Wisdom (Thousand Paths series).
- "A Thousand Paths to Wisdom" is a compilation of thoughts and phrases that have been handed down through the years. It is a mixture of humor and wit and intellect. It's basic and down to earth... truism at its best. I plan to purchase four or five copies to use at work to help develop speaking skills of employees who work for me. I'm planning on three half-hour... little more... sessions a week with five people. You start by having them seated and reading two pages out loud... going around the table one-by-one. By the end of the half-hour they have had the opportunity to probably read eight to ten pages. The intimidation level is minimal and they get used to hearing their own voices. Once that comfort level is achieved you have them stand behind a podium, still reading from the book, then gradually needing no props at all. This book is perfect for what I want to achieve for my employees: insightful and builds confidence.
- A simple collection of tranquil thoughts...can be found in David Baird's collection of 1000 thoughts.
Baird nicely separates the thoughts topically, from "Tranquility Found" to "Tranquility Lost", and all situations in between. This is a great collection when you are looking for phrases and words to inspire others, to "de-stress" an environment, to understand when "that change will do you good". More simplistic than the original, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff", Baird's book is one of those items that lays on your desk within reach, only to be opened whenever you are losing perspective or your sense of self. A great source of quiet inspiration, Baird's book was with me when I lost a job, and when I lost and subsequently found, a daughter. Where else can you find gems attributable to the ages, from Aristotle to Woody Allen? Keep it handy, buy it for others, treasure it.
- "A Thousand Paths to Wisdom" certainly delivers in terms of quantity and quality. This is a great coffee table book that is designed quite well. I only gave it a 4 out of 5 because most of the quotes in the book are not referenced. Two sections of the book, "Famous Voices" and "Ancient Wisdom," include quotes and its source. There are other referenced quotes scattered throughout the text but not consistently. I do feel it is a great resource in exploring your own path to wisdom.
- I love these books and have collected them all. They always seem to make me feel better when I'm down.

2 comments about Feeling Safe: How to Be Strong and Positive in a Changing World.
- I have all of William Bloom's books and each one is a treasure. They may cover similiar material (how to be emotionall/psychically safe), but each has its own nuggets of wisdom and build upon the others. I do feel safer after employing many of his techniques! It is hard to explain the appeal of his work unless you have read it. Trust me, but this little book and open your mind to a GREAT experience. I bet the author is a blast to sit and chat with!
- I absolutely love this book. It has changed my life. I was such a negative person, I was scared of everything and I was always on the brink of a panic attack, suffering from PTSD for 20 years. Since reading this book, I have been absolutely HAPPY and going everywhere afraid of nothing, secure within myself. The book is falling apart I have reread it so many times over and I can't wait to read more of his books. If you are unhappy with anything in life, then you have to get this book. IT IS A MUST READ FOR EVERYBODY!
