- I have all of William Bloom's books and each one is a treasure. They may cover similiar material (how to be emotionall/psychically safe), but each has its own nuggets of wisdom and build upon the others. I do feel safer after employing many of his techniques! It is hard to explain the appeal of his work unless you have read it. Trust me, but this little book and open your mind to a GREAT experience. I bet the author is a blast to sit and chat with!
- I absolutely love this book. It has changed my life. I was such a negative person, I was scared of everything and I was always on the brink of a panic attack, suffering from PTSD for 20 years. Since reading this book, I have been absolutely HAPPY and going everywhere afraid of nothing, secure within myself. The book is falling apart I have reread it so many times over and I can't wait to read more of his books. If you are unhappy with anything in life, then you have to get this book. IT IS A MUST READ FOR EVERYBODY!

5 comments about Secrets of Creative Visualization.
- At first Mr Cooper seems rather dorky and dogmatic but using logical reasoning he open-mindedly explains the truths behind what we call existence. While reading this book I thought how lucky I was to have discovered it beforte the age of forty - I wished I'd had it before the age of 20 but then, its only just been published. I won't bore you with my critique - just buy it and realise its worth infintely more than you'll pay for it. I only wish I could get in touch with the author and personally ask him some questions.
- This is one of the most dynamic, positive and uplifting works I've ever read. The techniques are breathtakingly simple, and the author's presentation is wonderful in it's symmetry and depth. Western Magick forms the backdrop, but the information contained here should prove useful to anyone interested in expanding their horizons. This work is especially valuable to those who believe that the Mind is the ultimate source of Reality. Also, I found Mr. Cooper's sincerity and kind words of encouragement particularly refreshing and helpful. His program of self-empowerment challenges the reader to stretch beyond old and outdated beliefs toward a fresh perspective; one that has the potential to transform lives. Courage and a little discipline are all that's required; I think you'll find that this book goes a long way towards helping you find these.
- You might want to take the author's viewpoint into consideration when deciding whether or not to purchase this book. For example, on page 133, he says, 'I use no gods, except the concept of a creative source. In my religion, there are only three people: Me, myself, and I."
- The author explains the fundamental teachings of metaphysics:
That we all have the power to create whatsoever we desire when we "believe that we receive" when we pray. Understanding how to use the laws of the mind, through creative visualization and through the power of faith--believing an idea with absolute 100% convinction--is unerring solution to all of life's obstacles and challenges. After completing this book, I read a book from the author's bibliography that is well known on this subject and is highly recommended--The Magic of Believing by Claude M. Bristol. Therefore, the book was helpful in more than one way. I would recommending reading the above mentioned book by Mr. Bristol as well as Power of Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy for a more exhaustive understanding of the subject. Sometimes it takes reading different authors' discussion of a subject to really believe that these ideas are not only true, but are accepted and used by many. One thing that I did not necessarily find too helpful was the sligthly eccentric instructions in several chapters of the book. However the insights found in chapters 1-6, 18 and 25-26 warrant my purchase in the end. Read this book, apply the principle then share the knowledge to help others.
- I mostly liked this author before, but it *seems* that this author has taken to writing "Customer Reviews" of his/her? own works! That's pretty darn lame. He/she should at least acknowledge their status as author in the review, if they had any integrity.

5 comments about Age Doesn't Matter Unless You're a Cheese.
- This is a great book, not as funny as Age Sucks maybe, but it's not meant to be. In fact, I think they're good companions. "Cheese" is a much broader, wiser book, with many thoughtful things to ponder. Yes, some things made me laugh, but other things touched my heart and really made me think. The subtitle is wisdom of the elders and that's exactly right -- and this book is exactly right. Thank you, Ross and Kathryn.
- Every quote listed in this book comes from people who were over 70 years old at the time, so they know of whence they speak. This is a light read, but a truly enjoyable one. Turn to any page, and read sagacious advice on a variety of subjects, from well-known figures ranging from Julia Child to Golda Meir, and everywhere in between. This is a book that will be returned to again and again for its wit and wisdom. And, as we age, the words become more true to life. Age does not necessarily equal wisdom, but in the case of this collection, it certainly applies.
- While this is not a mega-sized collection of quotes (just one quote per page) it IS an amazing selection of time-tested wisdom, humor, and experience. I collect quotations; and this book was an outstanding resource from that standpoint, since the preponderant majority of the quotes were "keepers." I have collected 20,000+ in a personal database over more than a decade (an odd hobby, some would say, but I guess I'm pretty easily amused). While a few of the quotes familiar to me, most were fresh and original, and the preponderant majority were "keepers." But you don't have to be a quotation collector to enjoy this book; if you're looking for inspiration, "words to live by," (from folks who have "been there, done that"), or if you just enjoy reading books that give you something to think about and more than a few chuckles along the way, I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it.
- A serious subject presented in a humorous manner.Easily read, hilarious and thought provoking. It will keep you in 'stitches'. M.Phyllis HIll
- This small, fat book appears as if it will be filled with cute little quotes, but once I delved in, I was rewarded with true wisdom and insight. I think a better title would have been one of the quotes contained within: "Live your life, and forget your age."

5 comments about Mastery of Awareness: Living the Agreements.
- This is the book written by the apprentice of don Miguel Ruiz, Bernadette Vigil, and this can be seen very easily from the book.
Almost every idea that can be found in this book can be found in Four Agreements or in Mastery of Love. The most of new things can be found in last three chapters. In 10th chapter author presents 11 spiritual agreements. My opinion is that 11 agreements presented here are not so powerful as don Miguel's 4 agreements. In fact, Bernadette Vigil said the same thing as Miguel Ruiz but with much less powerful words. 11th Chapter gives some exercises and practices as guidelines for those who want to walk on Toltec path. This is, in my opinion, the greatest part of the book. It is practical, and gives you the idea how to start and how to proceed on the path. If you look at this book regardless to don Miguel's books, than this book is great book, and may even deserve 5 stars. But if you read books written by don Miguel before you read this book, you will have some feeling that the book is not so original nor so powerful.
- Go and buy "tales from the time loop" by David Icke. All this and more! It will uncover the mysteries!
- To make a what should be a long review, short, this is an introductory book to the toltec teachings, and a very poor attempt at that, I don't fully understand how can Don Miguel endorse these books.
This supposed "Nagual" woman shows all along her book that she is full of ego, venom against men, and it is even evident that some relationship she had in the past, she jas never fully healed.
So much for a "nagual"
If you are interested in learning the true toltec way, always refer to the sources, Carlos Castaneda, Miguel Ruiz and Theun Mares, don't waste your time and money on these wannabes.
- Hello, I am very surprised at the criticism here . . . I read the book at a moment in time where I was open to it, I have read Don Miguel Ruiz as well, I guess the words have to fit the state or perspective of the listener, and it seems that this book has spoken not to many. It has helped me so much, I have started my quest consciously because of it. It starts with the breath . . .
-
Mastery of Awareness is a new read to me. I look forward to reading the book, I am sure there is valuable information to be gleaned.

- Contraveneno is a special book, talk about the relation trouble, Love.
- Ok, definitivamente son exitos de aparador, han vendido millones (yo mismo los compré y leí...¿pueden creerlo?). Pero de verdad, NO VALE LA PENA.....es literatura barata....muy mal escrita. Mejor lean a Dilbert.

3 comments about A Survival Guide to the Stress of Organizational Change.
- The tone and messages of the book are such that they will serve to demotivate, rather than inspire, employees. For example:
Message #1: You (the reader) are not senior management. Throughout the book, senior management is described as "the people at the top" and "they." The book immediately sets up a distinction between these two groups - top management, which is moving the company along in response to outside changes, and employees, who are resisting change at every turn. Message #2: Change is scary, unrelenting, and you (the average person) are naturally not going to like it. And if you weren't scared about change going into the book, you will be after you read it. One of the opening paragraphs reads: "And if today's stress and tension aren't enough to create problems, all a person has to do is consider what the future holds. One close look at what's in store should be enough to worry anyone." Message #3: You (the reader) are an idiot, and you will persistently resist change unless you wise up to the tips in this book. The book outlines 15 mistakes people usually make in dealing with change. It doesn't offer 15 good ideas for preventing stress due to change, but instead focuses on 15 things you'll probably do wrong unless, of course, you read this book. On the whole, this book is too simplistic and supplies only minimal rationale for why an employee should change. If you want to get employees to be more open to change, to put their heart into their job, to be more supportive of the company's overall direction, then give them a book that will inspire them. Give them tips for how to be a happier person, both on the job and at home. Talk to them in a positive tone and not a negative one, as this book does. There are many books out there that can accomplish these goals, just not this one.
- I am an employee who appreciates reality. This book espouses the importance of personal accountability...for how we work, how we live, how we feel.
The challenge is in doing something right that does not come naturally; proactive rather than reactive. This book made me feel good about how much control I actually do have. Following the axioms presented will help you step over some tripwires in the minefield of a work-a-day world in the throes of change.
- I've been on both sides of reorganizations, and this book does HELP. It was especially very good advice when I was younger and just beginning to experience the change that all organizations must go through. I held on to my copy and still look at it now and then to remind myself that I shouldn't fight change, but take it as it comes and make the most of it.

5 comments about Change Your Mind, Change Your Body: Feeling Good About Your Body and Self After 40.
- I bought this book for my mother for Christmas. She's 45 years old, and has always seemed pretty happy with herself until the past few years. She gained a little weight, and tried different diets, but nothing really worked so she gave up. I thought this would be the perfect book to re-motivate her, and I was right. She loved it. She said it not only helped her overcome overeating, but the chapter on fitness motivated her to start exercising. Now she is training with her friend for a five mile mini marathon in our hometown this spring.
I read the chapter on compulsive overeating and found some new ideas to stop my bad habit of overeating. I am using her ideas on handling emotions like anger and sadness which often trigger overeating. I am one of those people who has too much responsibility as a graduate student and no healthy way to re-fuel. Often times, I use food. Like the author suggests, I am working on increasing my resources and decreasing my demands so I don't overeat out of sheer exhaustion. I loved the chapter on self care and am looking at relationships I am in that leave me "hungry". Since Christmas, I got myself a copy of the book and my roommate is currently reading it as well. This is the best book I've ever read about improving my body image and eating healthy. The only mistake this author made was to assume these ideas would only be helpful for women over forty. With the exception of the first chapter, the rest of the book is full of novel, inspiring ideas to help women like me take control of my eating and allow myself to feel sexy and attractive!
- Finally a self help book that is actually helpful! No gimmicks,No magic bullets-instead great ideas which have helped me to come up with a realistic weight goal for myself, cut out grazing on food all day long,,and becoming motivated to exercise again..Being a mother of two daughters,I got a lot out of the chapter about helping your daughters develop a positive body image-not only about body image but handling my relationship with them in general. The inspirational stories and exercises left me feeling rejuvenated and excited about these midlife years.
- "My girlfriend bought me this book for my 49th birthday.I needed a kick in the pants to get moving and this book gave me one that and more. I have two kids and both are in college and doing well. Its me who has been struggling with my life in general my weight, body image and relationships with others. My Mom became depressed when I went to college and I never wanted that to happen to me. Through the stories and ideas in this book, I realized I have to stop feeling sorry for myself, stop procrastinating and take control of my eating and exercise..The authors insightful examination of why people overeat and great ideas on how to stop overeating have helped me tremendously. The chapter on exercise was really helpful and I am begining to feel stronger, not just in my body but in myself [I have also lost 6 pounds over the last three months]. The story that the author shared about the hike in Australia where the Aborigne guide asked her "What are you hunting for and who are you gathering around you at this point in your life" blew me away. This is a great book that has helped me look at midlif in a new way.
If any women is having probelms dealing with aging, weight and self esteen this is the book to read, it is very easy and interesting reading...you go girls!!
- "Change Your Mind, Change Your Body" is a must-read for anyone concerned about their health, fitness, and body image. I found Dr.Kearney's vast experience, knowledge, and unique perspective really helpful. This is not just another diet book, but a life plan to help you take care of your body and self. I like how she included spiritual teachings from different religions throughout the book to help paint pictures of how we think of ourselves and look at ourselves, and how we can help ourselves. Clearly this author understands women and offers great suggestions on how to quit overeating and develop a strong, positive self image.
- "Written by skilled clinical psychologist Ann Kearney-Cooke with Florence Isaacs, this amazing book gives you the advice, inspiration and real-life tools to be your best at midlife and beyond. It has helped women of every age adjust to physical changes, retool their ideas about sex and desirability, rework aging fears into growth tools, and develop a realistic and positive image of themselves.
And it goes beyond the physical to help women embrace and cultivate their strengths, set achievable goals and help their daughters shape a positive self-image." (review from Perspectives of Beauty/Procter & Gamble website)

4 comments about Daily Affirmations for Compulsive Eaters.
- I bought one copy of this book five years ago, then ordered an entire case from the publisher... to give to my friends who struggle with a compulsive eating disorder, too. Susan Ward, thank you for writing with such acceptance, such insight, such good sense, and such restraint. Each entry helps me toward honesty, humility, and hope; each day I sit on the throne and regain my sense of self and hope in my own ability to recover. No real religious stuff, but gentle, healthy, spirited, friendly words. Buy it, then buy lots more and give them away! nancy
- I found the meditations to be stilted and poorly written. They are so heavily laden with 12 step language that only a committed member of OA would be comfortable with it. The 12 steps are not the only way to go, and in fact are quite likely NOT the best way.
- I personally bought this book many years ago. I stilluse it to today. I also recommend this to anyone who is struggling with food issues. Its QUICK & DAILY positive readings set the tone for your day and can help you focus onthe positive. I highly recommend this to many of my patients also.

- I am writing this review because I disagree wholeheartedly with two negative reviews listed here. I agree with one of the reviewers who wrote negatively about this book that the twelve-step program is not the way to deal with weight awareness, and it is true that this book does pull from that program. But the dipping that the author does is terrific, and I have been consistently surprised and uplifted by the quality of her daily writings here. Her urging to go way beyond mere dieting and her comments that make you think and explore the psychological reasons, restraints, and pressures that occur when one overeats only helps towards her goal which I think is this: Enjoying food, and finding out how to give it the proper place in your life. If you are a compulsive eater who wants to delight in eating but "eat to live" rather than "live to eat," I think this book is fabulous and terrific. I have shown it to several friends of mine who also have had compulsive issues with food and after reading several passages, they all wanted to buy the book. Plus, it's great to be able to read a short passage whenever one wants. Obviously, you can read a great passage from another day on a different calendar date. I find the bite-sized passages (pun intended!) just the right amount when I need help. I recommend this book for anyone of whatever size they are who has had issues with weight management and feeling happy about one's body. An ace book, five stars all the way.
