5 comments about YOU!.
- LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REFRESHING MUST READ TO SUCEED IN THIS GAME CALLED LIFE THANKS ED
- I always love reading a book that keeps me on the right track with the Lord. In Ed Young's work, YOU, we are given positive reinforcements of who we are through the One who made us. The author carries us through many different avenues that we use to try and be accepted by ourselves and others, and he shows how and why they fail.
He also helps us to learn how to break away from hurts that may have scared us in our past and left us in a state of insecurity about ourselves. He shares experiences from his own past which helps to enlighten this in your minds eye.
Gently, but with great purpose, he shares the love our God has for us, our importance to Him and the future He sees is ours. You begin to realize how special you are and how much you are loved.
The one important factor this work will leave you with is that YOU do matter to the one who made you. Once you understand that, embrace it and begin to live it your life will change. You need not be afraid that you will fall into an attitude of, 'it's all about me,' because finally you will realize that it's all about HIM and what He has put in you to be a productive part of the world we live in. A great book to boost your self-esteem and make some much needed attitude adjustments. Recommended.
- Pastor Ed Young is a man on a mission. That mission is to change your life by introducing you to the second most important person in your life. You may ask, "Why wouldn't I just want to know the MOST important person in my life first?" The answer is, "Because that person is YOU! And you can't know the most important person in your life (our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ) until you first know YOU!" You might find this statement controversial, however, it is within you that He resides therefore that is where your search should begin.
With every Christian book I am privileged to review, I search to find something within the book that will help me learn and grow in my Christian life. In reading "You!" it was very easy to find what stood out the most for me. Pastor Young introduced me to the 4-F's. The 4-F's are four destructive tenets we experience that bring about our downfall.
The first is Fear. Our fear to be `found out' is sometimes so strong that we try to camouflage our pain. Pastor Young explains how this fear grows and manifests in other aspects of our life. The second is Frustration. Frustration rears its ugly head when we won't admit our mistake. The third tenet is Fatigue. Fatigue sets in when we get tired of dealing with the fear and the frustration. The continued juggling weighs heavy on your soul and it makes us easy prey of tenet four. Tenet four is Failure, which is what the enemy craves for you and I to experience.
You might think I've shared the premise of the book, however, the 4-F lesson is only three pages of the book!
Pastor Ed Young has created an extraordinary book to help young Christians find fulfillment in a Christian walk. It is a wonderful book that is easy to read and is perfect for youth groups. It is a great book to read together with a friend or just to read on your own.
YOU! The Journey to the Center of Your Worth offers insight for both the budding Christians and the seasoned Christian soldiers, the tools to make that journey. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
- First off, anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of listening to one of Ed's sermons should immediately go to the Creative Pastors website [...] and listen to a few. He is phenomenal.
True to form, Ed has taken the number one concern to all of us - our importance in this world - and lays it out in an easy to read format. Step by step he shows each reader how to recognize what kills our self esteem, and how to make our self esteem stronger than it ever has been simply by trusting God to help us. He artfully injects scripture and personal stories to make the lessons in each section easy to understand and relate to.
My only complaint is that the book is too short. I wish Ed had expanded on some of the sections a little more. But even despite that criticism, I highly recommend this book to everyone. Even if you think your self esteem is high, imagine it going even higher - an learn how to do that by reading this book!!
- You! The Journey to the Center of Your Worth is an inspiring look at the interconnected nature of self-esteem and Christian spirituality. As the author states, many Christians mistakenly believe that looking within and working on one's own issues of self-esteem is a selfish act. They worry that if they focus on themselves they will become selfish and forget to give praise to God. The author states that although selfishness can lead Christians away from God, becoming all that you can be not only shows your appreciation for His gifts but also allows you to fully live and share His message.
There are a few things very unique about this book. Very few (if any) books have been written that acknowledge let alone address the very prominent Christian worry about becoming self-centered. Moreover, the author has the unique ability to explain concepts using stories and analogies and then related these concepts back to the issue at hand. He then goes even further to back up everything he says with quotes from the bible. I expect that these abilities and methodologies make the author a very popular, entertaining, and effective minister.

2 comments about I Can Do It Cards, Success (I Can Do It Cards).
- A great way to start your workday! These affirmation cards are really helpful for giving you a positive mindset for the day. For anyone going through a transition at work or making a career change these cards help keep you focused on what's important & not let disappointments bother to you. Colorful illustrations on these 2-sided card are fun & great for visual people like myself. :)
Some of my favorite affirmations are: "The joy I find in my career is reflected in my overall happiness." "Limitations are merely opportunities to grow. I use them as stepping stones to success." "Making decisions is easy for me. I welcome new ideas, and I follow through with what I say." "When I wake up in the morning, I plan for a good day. My anticipation attracts good experiences to me." "My job allows me to express my talents and abilities, and I am grateful for this employment." Hopefully you'll enjoying using these daily affirmation cards as much as I have.
- Nice sentiments, pretty cards, but nothing overly original here.

5 comments about Affirmations of Wealth: 101 Secrets of Daily Success.
- Over the past several years I have read many of the great self-help authors including Napoleon Hill, Mark Victor Hansen, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and Zig Zigler just to name a few. I can say, without a doubt, Affirmations of Wealth is the best self help book I have ever read. It is practical, motivational and hands on. Once you read this book, you will be prepared for profound and lasting success in your life.
- I am a motivational book and tape junkie. I have read and listened to hundreds of books and tapes. This book is outstanding. In just a few short weeks I developed a new success habit that I have been trying to implement for years. This book is awesome and the simple but powerful techniques work.
- I recently had the opportunity to hear Mr. Alexandrov speak at a sales conference. He is a phenominal speaker and presenter. I purchased Affirmations of Wealth that day and I haven't put it down since. I can summarize this book in a few short words, "life changeing," "powerful," "awe inspiring." You must get and use this book.
- After two years of roller-coaster depression, panic attacks and migraine headaches I decided I had enough and wanted a whole lot more out of life.
A year ago I read notes from a speaker that appeared at an event in New England, part of her talk was about this book and how it had changed her life and that she requires her reps (she and I are both reps for a well known company) to read it and put the components of the book into practice. If they were not willing to do that she felt that they were not coachable, thus they did not join her in business. Selective yes, but after reading and putting into practice components of the book I can now see why. I never noticed that section of the notes at the time but when I decided to change my life for the better I picked up those notes again and read them and read the section on "Affirmations of Wealth". Got the book and poured through it and in the process I have found honest and true revelations about myself that I never knew existed and in turn with the power of affirmations I have been able to begin quantum changes in my life as well as shifting from the focus on negatives and not being able to see clearly towards my goals to the focus on positives and what must be done to bring about lasting and enduring wealth into all areas of my life and the lives of those that I touch and love. "Affirmations of Wealth" is a book that when combined with your own actions can create an amazing shift in your life - but only if you want change to happen in your life and you are not afraid to embrace the opportunities that await you. It is also the book that I now require my own new representatives (that I help to start their own businesses)to read.
- I first read Affirmations Of Wealth in 1998. I thought it was a wonderul book then, but I didn't realize it's full impact on my life. 7 years after reading this book for the first time, I "found it" again. I realized that virtually every hope and dream I had 7 years ago has come true as a result of using the principles in this book. This book is powerful and timeless. It is a MUST read.

2 comments about Overcoming Negative Self-Image (The Victory Over the Darkness Series).
- all of Neil Anderson books are great. If you are over come by a negative self-image and find yourself thinking negative of others and yourself, get this book.
- I read and enjoyed Neil T. Anderson's Victory Over the Darkness and The Bondage Breaker and had looked forward to reading this book. Imagine my surprise when, upon receiving it by mail, Overcoming Negative Self-Image is not only extremely thin (roughly the amount of pages in a booklet, slightly more volumunious than a pamphlet), but it is peppered with text and case studies found in both Victory Over the Darkness and The Bondage Breaker. I only found Dave Park's parts insightful, but only because I hadn't read them before. I think the stuff found here is still very good, but only if you've never read Anderson's previous work before. You're better off getting the two aforementioned books and just forget about this one.

5 comments about Executive Protection: A Professional's Guide To Bodyguarding.
- ... This book is the first piece of training I assign to my new employees, all of which are cops. The cons of hiring aggressive warriors (cops) are offset as this book clearly explains the new concept that capture of the enemy is NOT the goal, but rather, the invisible protection of the client. This is very valuable, and all for less than [price]! Great book!...
- I thought this book would be helpful for either offering tips on certain tasks (e.g., searching for bugs, defensive driving). There is absolutely no substance! Topics are covered at a very high level, and too much space is given to mildly pertinent anecdotes. The grammer could also use a once-over. Finally, the book is way too brief.
Keep searching - there are better books on this subject.
- ever want to learn more about a subject?, well after reading this tease on protection you will, It is very insightful but leaves you wanting more details on the protection subject.
- The content is good, but dated. This was written in 1994 and has not been updated. This book is a very high level overview of the field.
- Book is okay. But I would urge anyone to enroll in a bodyguard academy. Book doesn't cover the essential aspects of being a bodyguard.

5 comments about I've Got Your Back: Coaching Top Performers from Center Court to the Corner Office.
- Since I am a huge fan of Winning Ugly I bought I've got your back immediately over amazon when it was out (In Switzerland it has not been released yet). I thought like Winning Ugly was advice for players and his second book was more into techniques of coaching. But to my astonishment it was all about Brad, Brad and Brad. All about what great guy he is and what outstanding relationship he has got to Agassi and Roddick. Hey Brad, take a look at Roger Federer who's been without a coach the entire year, in which he won 3 Slams! A coach cannot be that important, right?
- Having read and really enjoyed "Winning Ugly" I decided to give this book a try even though I had read a review stating that it was geared toward applying his principals to business. I did not find that to be the case at all. Yes, he did give tennis stories and then close with how that story might apply in other's business life. But what I found in this book is an inside look at a talented coach and his relationship with his player. And given that his players were Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick, it's an interesting story for tennis fans. I've never been a big Andre Agassi fan having watched him tank matches at the tournament at my club as well as some of his early antics. And could we please get the announcers to quit talking about him running up a hill as a statement of his great fitness. However, I do have a great appreciation for his talent. From reading this book I have a greater appreciation of Andre the man. He's grown from an undisciplined talent who was lucky to be in the right place with the right talent to an intelligent quality individual. And in some respects you have to give Brad some credit although Gilbert is not attempting to take any.
Although over 1/2 the book seems to mention Andre, there is quite a bit about Andy. It is interesting to hear him compare their different approaches to tennis and life in general.
Overall, I would recommend this book for any tennis fan. I do not think you will be disappointed. Another must read from Brad Gilbert.
- This book is disappointing. There is very little that is contained in this book that is worthwhile information to anyone. Brad Gilbert describes (many times) what a great relationship that he has with Andre and Andy and what a great coach he is. There are quotes sprinkled in throughout the book to make it come off that it really is a business type self improvement book, but it isn't even close. Save your money and put the book BACK on the store shelf and put your money BACK into your wallet!
- This book is very inspiring as B.G. suggests the attitude proper to anything we do. `You Really Gotta Love It' is his recipe for success and inner peace. These are not just words, he practises what he preaches. For him, tennis is, and always has been, all about passion. That is why prospective readers must be cautioned: THIS PASSION CAN BE CONTAGIOUS!
Coaches and players will learn how crucial it is to start thinking in the game (based on examples of America's hottest players - Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick). This kind of thinking means drawing conclusions from past experiences, both positive and negative, the latter being, of course, more important.
This book will surely help improve your on-court performance by changing your mental outlook on the game and life in general.
- This was a bit of a disappointment. First, if you were hoping for a coach's principles on leadership in business, go back to the "Business" section of the bookstore. I understand that by targeting the business world Brad can increase his book sales beyond the sports junkies of the world, but in relating his coaching to other life applications, well...he leaves a bit of a gap.
I really enjoyed "Winning Ugly". In fact, as a tennis player, I found it loaded with great tips (and it even improved my game). But this one is loaded with Brad's "good ole days from the tour" drivel that is certainly is out of date and more than a bit tedious.

5 comments about How to Settle Your Debts.
- While most of the information in this book is common sense, it's all worthwhile and sometimes common sense is what people need to hear from time to time. Perlmutter's book is clever at times and thoughtful consistently and offers an insiders look into the word of debt--mainly from a CPA's viewpoint. The reader is treated to a wealth of insider information including terms and techniques the banks and credit companies are using to capitalize on us.
This book is a great addition to my more consumer-oriented "How to Take Advantage...". Buy it and enjoy your new debt-free life!
- Among the unfortunate side effects of an economic downturn such as the United States is currently experiencing is the growing debt load that ordinary men and women find themselves having to labor under. Now in a fully updated and significantly expanded second edition, "How To Settle your Debts: Without Committing Financial Suicide" by certified public accountant Norman H. Perlmutter, is the perfect do-it-yourself manual for individuals, families, and businesses who find themselves sinking further and further into crippling debt. Of special note is the new chapter specifically addressing the problems associated with student-loan debt. A major culprit are the credit card companies who deliberately target people's desire for instant gratification for things they don't need and cannot afford. Complicated with deceptive interest rate schedules and conditions, anyone seeking to emerge from crippling debt must become informed with respect to the various techniques of predatory credit card issuers. Drawing upon his many years of experience and expertise in helping individuals and businesses deal successfully with the problems of excessive debt, Perlmutter deftly shows the non-specialist general reader how to wipe out their debt without having to resort to bankruptcy (which Congress has made even more difficult with the finance industry backed legislation); how to effectively deal with bill collectors; settling debts through leverage; clean up and rebuild personal and corporate credit ratings; deal successfully with tax debts, secured debts, and judicial judgements; resolve student loan debt repayment problems; as well as when and how to simply walk away from debts. "How To Settle Your Debts" should be considered profoundly valuable reading for anyone having to deal with problems arising from excessive debt, and be a priority acquisition for college, university, and community library Money/Finance reference collections.
- I am very grateful for the wonderful advice. I would have loved even more specific info on settling debts but overall it is a spectacular source of valuable information.
- I gained much incite into the credit industry. I, Thank you Mr. Perlmutter for that and the revised addition. The lay Man/Woman can read this with ease, and pickup alot of Great Info, and how to deal with their own situtations. It was mailed Fast and Furious and just in time! Respectfully, Deb
- I purchased this book as I'm entering into the same problems as many other people, where the lure of easy credit has gotten me bogged down and stressed out. The first part of the book, where it talks about ways of running and hiding from the problem scared some sense into me.
Then the rest of the book, where it goes on to guide you through taking responsibility for what you (and the credit companies) got yourself into. And the information for working to get yourself out of the mess is great. It's given me the confidence to continue down the road toward settling my debts on my own, and knowing that professional assistance is still there if I need it. The book outlines lots of good information concerning debtors rights, challenging the creditors claims, constructing a workable budget for yourself and starting negotiations with your creditors.
Norm also re-enforces a very important point: In order to get yourself out of debt, you need to get control of your spending and stop creating new unsecured debt.

- You will certainly enjoy these really great books and you will also be glad you got them.. .. I got some great new insights, and along with that there is allot of good common sense stuff, but It's great to see commonsense affirmed and also reading and focusing on positive messages while we are bombarded with nativity all around us that lower our energy.. It's refreshing to get a good dose of this stuff...
- This is the perfect "starter set" for Stuie's works. It consists of three of his prior "thin" books (Miracles, Life Was Never Meant To Be a Struggle, Silent Power). Very good/inexpensive set to get a feel for Stuart and his style. Highly recommended. From here you might consider reading "Weight Loss for the Mind", then "Infinite Self". But wherever your path leads, the key is to follow it.
