  1. I have loved everything written by Joan Borysenko and appreciate this collaboration with her husband. It's a wonderful addition to anyone's self-help collection.

  2. This book is a good (and easy) read for someone going through the process of change. It shed some light on things for me, and put the process in a better perspective for me. I have been stuck on some things, and reading this book helped move my "stuck" points.

  1. Just came across Ryan's book accidentally. Gee.. another self help book again. But, no harm to read it. Boys, I just can't stop after a couple of pages. Bryan used his own grief experiences as a method of empowerment and healing to give himself ( definitely including myself ) a powerful thought to reconstruct the some what messed up life. The whole book is precise and straight to the point. The book goes so depth. The content of the book goes more than the title as the book suggested. Tons of life transformation skills: such as self love, detachment and etc..The space here is far too small too express the beauty and the healing power of the book. Yes, probably you will feel bored by looking at the topic such as pronciples of healing, choice, vacum, harmony, expectation, inner Guru. ( I feel same too from the beginning). but, once you read...the sparkle of light will just pop out, regardless how painful, unhappy... you once were. Pals, I read lotta selp-helps' book. I had never given any review before toward a book cuz seldom I find a book that would drive me to do that.. tis one is different.. so much different. This will be considered TOP 4 in my collection. Grab one.. then you will believe how realible my words are. I am not exaggerrated. What can i get by doing this, right ? P/s: I am a long term defeated Christian, now I know I am not because I am learning new healing skills to empower my inner self. Thank You! Dr. Robinson God bless

2 comments about Glad Day Daily Affirmations: Daily Meditations for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender People.
  1. This book is a collection of daily meditations for Gay, Lesbian, Transgendered, and bisexual people. Each day features a very short meditation: about two paragraphs, which gives insight on what it means to be a G/L/T/B person in today's world. Very positive! This book has helped me, as a gay person, examine how I live my life and how I can change for the better. Make it part of your daily ritual! This book sometimes gives a challenge for the day: i.e. one day gives us the challenge that if we hide our sexual identity from others, we are only making things more difficult for us. Others will let us take a break: i.e. today, maybe we shouldn't think about our sexuality at all. Sometimes, this little book asks us to stand up for ourselves, and perhaps confront others who have "pushed us around" in the past because of our sexuality; other times, it suggests perhaps we are not accepting straight people, or making false assumptions about what they are thinking about us. I have to say, this book is definitely encouraging. I only wish I was given this book the first day I knew about my sexuality.

  2. I have had this book for years and give it as gifts often...

3 comments about How to be a Winner.
  1. The first thing that made this tape noticeable was Zig's southern accent (or Texan?) and the funny jokes here and there which were actually funnier than most other personal development speakers. The theme (the beef of the matter) however, was pretty much the same as many others. The only differing part was that he just doesn't believe we can do 'anything' with a positive attitude, but at least we can do 'everything better that with a negative attitude'. It wasn't that bad. Not.

  2. If you really want to learn what it takes to be a winner, this is the audiobook you should listen to. Excellent tape for your children to listen also, if they learn this concepts early in life they will learn what they need to do on a regular basis in order to excel in whatever they choose to do.

  3. This tape is apparently a combination of at least two presentations (Zig's voice tone changes noticeably, and his verbal outlining is interrupted). This is a very short overview of Zig's philosophy, and might be a good introduction to his work. Yet it is too rushed and is presented at the surface level only. As a result, it just does not have the impact we have come to expect from one of the great motivational speakers. I recommend you spend just a little more for the "Success and Self-Image" tapes. For those of you who already have those tapes, you do not need to buy this one.

4 comments about Juicy Living Cards.
  1. Juicy Living Cards are reminders of living exuberantly and joyfully, especially when you feel stuck or crabby. The cards help give you permission to "Be How You Actually Are." Draw a card randomly, and let serendipity guide you in gaining a new perspective. Remember, it only takes a second to shift into a new place!" ~SARK

Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy is a best-selling author, speaker, teacher and artist. She has designed 50 cards to show us how to live a more spontaneous life. Each whimsical card presents a powerful new way to look at our lives.

Living Juicy is a way to say that you are allowed to roll down a bright grassy hill, sleep all day to stay in a dream or take your shoes off at the beach. You could also buy flowers, find places inside yourself that make you happy or do things that bring out your magical inner creature. The message also seems to be about letting out our inner child, the nurturing woman and the sexy goddess.

Some of my favorite cards included:

Front of Card: "Invite Someone Dangerous To Tea" - on this card you are encouraged to fling yourself into story telling and tea sipping. Dangerous tea also includes delicious chocolate cake!
Back of Card: "Let's share outrageous stories and eat impossibly delicious cake."

Front of Card: Your Dreams Need YOU to Make Them Real
Back of Card: Your Dreams Are Already Coming True

SARK's cards show a sense of exuberance and joy and she also likes "naps and dreaming." These cards do really give you permission to just "play or relax." A card that says: "Stop Doing" might encourage you to pull out a meditation or yoga DVD.

"The Inspiration Guide" is a fun idea. After you read: "Open a book to any page let that paragraph inspire you," you might go find a book and actually try this activity. Her idea reminds me of books by Carol Bolt where you open to a page and there is an answer for each question you have asked.

The "Being a Succulent Wild Woman" card is rather cute. Here, SARK encourages us to eat mangoes, be rare and eccentric, discover your own goodness and paint your soul.

This set of cards would be perfect to give to any of your friends with a bunch of flowers or you could even give individual cards away, post them at your office or leave them here or there to brighten up the world. You might need two or more boxes! :) One to keep and lots to give away.

    ~The Rebecca Review

  2. "Your real vision is immeasurably valuable and I dare you to let it out! Let us all see what you have made real from your dreams and imaginations. We are waiting to see." --SARK (Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy)

I own and have reviewed many inspirational decks, but I have never seen one like the Juicy Living Cards! I had never heard of SARK (Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy) until a few weeks ago, but the women who were talking about her work were absolutely gushing. "Who is this woman with a funny name?", I thought.

    Now I know.

SARK is an artist and author of 11 books, and has produced more than 200 products to inspire creative living. She believes in inviting someone dangerous to tea, eating mangoes naked, and living juicy.

What is living juicy, you may ask? According to one of her brightly colored water-color cards: Living Juicy Means: rolling down a bright grassy hill, sleeping all day to stay in a dream, definitely taking your shoes off at the beach. Buying flowers that make you gasp. Find those places inside you that jump for joy and do things that bring out your best, most magic self!

The text on the 50 cards in this delightful deck look like hand written script, and the illustrations are either lush watercolors or whimsical cartoons (the cards are a matte finish). Some words are even circled (you know, like we did when we were kids when passing a note to a classmate in order to emphasize the importance of a word), and accompany gorgeous watercolor illustrations. Every card is different. I laughed out loud at a few of the cards ("You are a delicious succulent human bean"), and sorted my favorites to include in this review.

It was over half the deck.

I can't exactly share all of the delightful gems of wisdom, wonderment, and inspiration on these cards, but I can share a few!

One card shows an outline of a figure in bed, with Let Sleep Heal You on the blanket. When you turn the card over, there's a blue/green/purple water-color wash with We Are Not The Things We Do written in pale yellow.

Another card features a blue and purple watercolor border, depicting a clothesline. On the line hangs "cozy socks", "perfect pillow", "lucky pajamas", and "magic blanket". Underneath are the words Our lives are filled with gorgeous moments, the smell of clothes dried in the sun is one of these. Relax, and let moments like these seep into your soul. On the back of the card, a whimsical cup with rising steam says Measure Time By Mugs Of Tea.

A smiling blond woman holding a bouquet says I bring you gorgeous flowers to stand beside your gorgeous self on yet another card--the back awash in gentle green with the pale yellow words Go to where you want to be, and the resources will follow.

One of my favorites is a "prayer pie" that says:

    May you unfold willingly
    May you be truly nourished
May peace be in your every step
    May gratitude fill you
May you reach others with your radiant heart

Sometimes, we just don't give ourselves permission to let out the magical child within, let alone to love imperfectly, rest, and "eat impossibly delicious cake" (that's what you eat when you invite someone dangerous to tea, you see).

If you find it difficult to give yourself permission to sing a song of surrender, stop doing (just for right now), dance with color, relax, risk the healing, play outside, take a leap of faith, or write your life so that others may be illuminated, then let SARK do it for you with these uplifting cards.

(To see 6 images from this deck, visit the Reviews--Decks section at JanetBoyer.com)

  3. These cards are the perfect way to get your daily SARK dosage. They are so warming and uplifting. I love to give them to friends in cards. Their inspriting words and colorful design make them a pefect little gift for the special people in your life.

  4. These cards are joy, warmth and laughter in a box! If you love Sark, you will completely adore these cards. They are great for picking one a day and uplifting you or perhaps reminding you of where you're stuck. They always tell you of things you always perhaps knew, but just forgot in the day to day chaos that is life.

The artwork as usual is enchanting and full of raw energy. The cards are large and of very thick cardstock. And like the other reviewer said, great to give in cards, I've done it many times! Though so hard to part with them : ).

3 comments about I Promise Myself: Making a Commitment to Yourself and Your Dreams.
  1. I Promise Myself is a book to sit with and thumb through and read ten thousand times or more. Reilly shows us, through a vow composition process, how to truly know ourselves and find the inner strength needed to live in this hectic and often externally-focused world. The book is especially helpful to women who, as PLR describes it, tend to get caught up in the 'swirls' of others... ever the caretaker, ever the giver, ever the one who depends on others for strength. It has helped me through times of crisis by allowing me to define the natural center of my self to which I can always return.

  2. I met at Patricia Reilly, the author of "I Promise Myself," at a recent booksigning in Salt Lake City. "I Promise Myself" is an amazing book and I made all of my high school friends read it. They all agreed that we girls need to affirm, appreciate, and love ourselves before anyone else. This in itself is a wonderful idea. But in a society such as ours, where we are told that pleasing others is our first priority, where we are taught that beauty is more important than comfort and love, and where we are ashamed of our sexuality and womanhood, this notion of self-affirmation isn't just wonderful...it's painfully needed. Patricia and her book are a wonderful example to me and to every one else.

  3. The book was well written with anecdotes and stories of women making vows to themselves and ceremonies. As women we are used to making promises to everyone except ourselves. This book gives permission to make a commitment to yourself.

5 comments about Fearless Sex: A Babe's Guide to Overcoming Your Romantic Obsessions and Getting the Sex Life You Deserve.
  1. As a woman and a mental health professional, I believe this book is a necessary book for all women who want to explore, touch and know their full selves. It approaches the topics of women's sensuality and eroticism as a necessary part of being a woman rather than something that would be nice if only we had the time. Dr. Davidson's approach is intelligent, full of humor, holistic and expansive. I have used this book personally and refer it to all my female clients. Here we can see what a strong, intelligent, sensual woman who is not afraid of her sexuality can look like! Thank you for this book!

  2. Written by none other than one of the savviest sexdox around. Dr. Joy has written a truly valuable book about how to be an empowered woman, avoid the pitfalls of obsessive going-nowhere relationships and stay sexually alive and flourish. I love the idea that any woman can be a fearless and smart "babe." I can't think of a better way for women to learn how to be their esxual best...please feel free to read about it on my site at: www.yoursexcoach.com, too...all best, Dr. Patti

  3. This book is terrific and I highly recommend it. It goes beyond its stated goal of helping you achieve the sex life you want. It's really about overcoming any number of self-esteem issues that you can undertake on your own to become a more authentic, self-actualized person -- which, naturally, will also put you in closer touch with your erotic center. It's clearly one of the wisest, most responsible and intelligent self-help books I've ever read. And, believe it or not, I think any guy with self-esteem, sexuality or authenticity issues can learn from it also.

  4. I loved this book and have gotten so much out of it personally. A few friends who have also read the book and I have formed a Babe Group where we conference call every few weeks to go over various chapters and work on the exercises together. It's been beneficial for my own erotic sense and for my relationship. I highly recommend it!

  5. This was an excellent no nonsense book filled with candid information that is empowering to women.

5 comments about Confidence is Queen: The Four Keys to Ultimate Beauty Through Positive Thinking.
  1. Finally, a book that fills the gap for the developing young lady that may be lost, with no direction. Susie's insight into the difficulties during this tough time of adolescence is a must for not only the young person going through it but her parent's as well. They, too, will learn firsthand what their daughter is feeling.

  2. I actually purchased this book for my niece, she was so inspired by the book that I decided to read it myself. Susie speaks from the heart and really illustrates how important confidence and believing in yourself is, AND how east it is to achieve your goals by focusing and developing on your strengths, interests, and that a strong mind builds a strong and successful person!!
I highly recommend this book for everyone, especially young adults!!! great job susie.

  3. In a time where there is increasing pressure from the "public" to give the government more power over our children's development and future, Suzie inspirationally reminds us all what truly successful individuals already know. There is no substitute for confidence, positivity, taking personal responsibility for one's actions, and the need for a strong parental role model in a child's life. There is no doubt Suzie has overcome great obstacles on her journey. But for any young lady trying to find her way in today's environment, Suzie is an excellent individual to follow. This is a must read for both young women and their parents alike.

  4. Susie gives an inspirational account of the four areas that one needs to address in order to build confidence which will lead to unleashing your ultimate beauty.

    The four keys are:

    * Identify and effectively develop your spirituality - Susie discusses developing your spirituality by finding out what makes you tick, staying positive and developing an attitude of gratitude. The latter two she learned a lot about from her mother, who she calls "Mami" a hard-working, resilient woman. Susie says, "effectively developing your spirituality is the most importing key because knowing who you are empowers you, improves your self-esteem, and imbues you with confidence.

    * Discover and embrace your relationships - we learn that developing relationships are important for self-esteem because strong bonds with family, friends, and mentors provide a support system when and where you need them. Throughout the book, Susie describes her relationship with her mom. Even though she may have disagreements with her from time to time, she respected her opinion and told her what her dreams were especially since her mother always gave her positive encouragement. To this day, Susie says she calls her mom to tell her what is happening in her life and uses her as a sounding board.

    * Take control of your health and body image - Susie says that taking control of your health and body image will lead to confidence because how you feel in the inside will reflect on the outside. Here she talks about the importance of eating right - not showing up to work starving and not being able to think - and exercising. This section is also great for those who don't have anyone who can tell them about clothes, fashion, hair, make-up and little tips for homemade spa treatments.

    * Believe in your dreams and make them a reality - we find out the importance of determining your passion, researching how to going about getting what you want, creating a realistic plan for achieving it, and the determination and perseverance to keep going for it until you succeed.

"Confidence Is Queen" is a great book full of inspiration for any young woman looking to do something positive with their lives but I recommend this book for any one who needs a little more confidence.

  5. Though I believe this book was targeting a younger audience, but in reading it I found some insights that I felt were pertinent to me (and I'm over 30!). I think this book not only speaks to girls but women who still have the little girl inside. Highly recommended.
