5 comments about Wisdom from the Four Agreements (Charming Petites).
- I bought this little book after listening to the original book on tape. It has absolutely changed my way of thinking, changed my life. I love it. And it's so simple!
I made four new agreements because I had been ready for them years and years. You may be too.
- Give this book to my group participants ... it is a bite sized version of my favorite book on a healthy perspective on life. The wisdom in this book helps all of my clients, whether they are trying to quit smoking, lose weight, health their relationship with food or make other nutrition or lifestyle changes.

- For some reason, I thought this was a full-sized book when in fact it's a teeny little memento decorative gift edition version. Page numbers and dimensions of the cover would have helped determine that this was not what I had in mind. But now I know what it meant by "charming petites". Ah well.
- I love this book. It is good sound advice for being a human being. I actually bought this one for someone else. She had passed her copy on to someone. I find I need to refer to it and remind myself.
- This is a cute item. But it is a VERY condensed version of the original. Not exactly what I had wanted. It was a gift for someone whom I thought might never actually read the entire original book but I wanted to introduce them to the ideas. So, I suppose it will suffice. Very nicely presented, it was worth the money anyway.

5 comments about A Woman's Worth.
- I expected this to be more of a religious-type book: "THE Bible says...." It was nothing like that!!! One of my pleasant surprises was that the author is pro-choice!
There was also a humorous reference to any female matriarch needing a king-size bed for family gatherings! It simply flows along and you feel like jumping for joy that you're female.
It also dwells extensively on women and their relationships to men. I felt alternately chastised and understood!
I'm requiring both my girls, ages 21 and 16 to read it!
- For all those Baby Boomers who wandered and were not lost, this is for you. Marianne Williamson is a prophet for our times. Never preachy, she will awaken your soul to the greater life that calls us.
- I have never read anything from Marianne Williamson, and this book actually draws the reader in and makes them feel exclusive. Her ability to capture your heart and soul is profound. I would recommend this book to anyone woman going through changes. It is uplifting and motiviational.
- Williamson goes far deeper and wider than psychological self help normally can. In dealing with our self-image problems, she walks through mental walls between personal, social, spiritual and worldly concerns. She shows how the big picture of our significance looks from her open-hearted view. For Williamson, love and marriage are not just necessary "conventions of the world"; they are schools of the soul: "... that is why we learn to love: to care so completely for one other person that our hearts break open wide and we learn to love them all". (p. 99)
The expansion of context brings a flood of light, more uplifting than any exhortation to positive thinking.
--author of "Different Visions of Love"
- Marianne notes in her preface to "A Woman's Worth" that "In writing this book, I have no purpose other than a creative spill of my own guts." And that's a good way to characterize the book. It is written almost as notes to herself that are being shared with others. Unlike my favorite book by her, "Everyday Grace" which was about hope, forgiveness and miracles, there is no real overriding message to this book.
Marianne Williamson is a good writer, so the book is still an enjoyable read and she does make some good points, such as:
- We are responsible for how we see ourselves
- The truth is there when the mind is ready to receive it
- Children remind us of what's important
- The biggest limit to our having is our small reach
But by and large, the book seems to be mainly venting about the way she believes men treat women in our culture (i.e. as the weaker sex and as sexual objects.) She is particulary upset by the way older women are treated, noting, "Your youth is the measure of your worth, and your age is the measure of your worthlessness."
If you're interested in Marianne's work, I would recommend some of her other books, like "Everyday Grace" or "A Return to Love" or even her most recent book, "The Age of Miracles."

5 comments about Indigo Dreams: Adult Relaxation-Guided Meditation/Relaxation Techniques decrease anxiety, stress, anger (Indigo Dreams).
- I bought this CD because I have sleep apnea and must use a CPap machine to sleep. It was difficult for me to get used to the machine and to fall asleep and stay asleep. This CD puts me in such a state of relaxation, that I now fall asleep as soon as I hear his voice! I also sleep more soundly - and have become accustomed to the CPap. (something I thought would be impossible) I now listen to the CD during the day so that I can actively listen to the affirmations. This CD is wonderful on so many levels. I couldn't be without it now.
- Very good. If you learning to meditate this one is good. I like the breathing excercises, the "belly breathing" as he calls it. I fall asleep to it alot as it is relaxing. Its a guys voice but very soothing. Very little music on it though. I gave it five stars because it does what I believe meditations CD's should do, destress, teach you how to destress, and relax you enough to fall asleep. Period.
- While I was listening to this CD and the breathing technique, I was wondering, "Oh for heaven's sake, how's this really gonna work?" At some point during the 2nd technique I was in a state of deep relaxation and then fast asleep. So, whether you complain or question or not, if you just do the techniques they work.
- I bought this tape because I was told by my doctor that I needed to learn how to relax. I have a back problem that gets severe at times and the relaxation methods on this CD are just great. I told my doctor about it and how it has helped me and he took the name of the CD and said he would recommend it to his other patients that were also having problems with relaxing. The affirmations also helped me like myself again. I am so glad I got this CD.
- This is exactly what I had hoped: a variety of techniques and a good speaker that make this highly effective for me.

5 comments about Tapping the Power Within: A Path to Self-Empowerment for Women.
- This book is a beautifully-written, honest, humble and insightful roadmap to self discovery, self-forgiveness, and self-empowerment. In this day and age of formulaic drivel, this author stands out as powerful, practical resource for living in vibrance. Ms. Vanzant shares deeply personal and often painful aspects of her past with the generous intention to heal the reader. Her sharp humor and poignancy make the read very easy. She gives specifics on how to connect with your power and making right choices, no vague greeting card nonsense here. Her style is easy to understand, and the wisdom and value is immediately apparent and accesible. She has that rare talent of making complex and subtle points seem effortless, clear and deceptively simple. This author is a true gem and the real deal. GET THIS BOOK NOW..don't let fear and procrastination talk you out of it. You CAN afford it. You are worth it. Invest in yourself and sow a seed into your life.
- Iyanla Vanzant is absolutely brilliant. Her power and wisdom continue to amaze and remind me of what Life and living is all about. The Yoruba rituals and traditions she offers in this book will definitely be added to my spiritual practices, particularly creating alters and blessing my head. I am humbled and encouraged by her courage to share her truth and remain committed to her vision. Not only is this book personally enlightening, it is necessary as I enter new phases of healing, self-awareness, and consciousness. This book is a must have.
Thank you Reverend, Doctor, Mama, Ms. Iyanla Vanzant for being my greatest teacher. You've done it again!
- This book is a powerful encouragement to us all, as the wonder-full women of life on earth open to our gifts and our charge to balance the patriarchal atmosphere that has prevailed [and failed] for so long.
- Tapping is really a HOW-TO manual of stimulating and maintaining that essence that we all have, no matter the tradition. The first time I read this book, I was searching but I wasn't ready. My faith walk did not embrace anything that did not look exactly like the pillars it taught. Isn't that ironic? In fact, I gave it away. Tapping is that powerful. My soul picked it off the shelf. If you are here reading the reviews, there is something in you that drew you to this book. I say LISTEN. This is a manual for powerful women to harness that power with a practice. I'm grateful for the re-release of Tapping at time and season where consciousness is transcending denominations and expanding ways of being. Iyanla was one of the only voice of my youth that spoke to this awareness when it wasn't popular. Iyanla spoke into me through her writing about the things that stirred in my spirit as a woman. Iyanla Vanzant through this first work can settle that which stirs in you. Don't be afraid. . . of your own power, Tap it! (LOL!)
ReBirth Int'l
- I love Iyanla Vanzant and this book is better than it was twenty years ago

5 comments about Love Yourself, Heal Your Life Workbook (Insight Guide).
- I bought the whole "Heal Your Life" series, including this workbook. Its selfhelp, an interactive guide to start or continue your healing journey. In this one she tells her story and how she over came her past. My story is similiar, as I am sure most people that buy this book will say. It's a hard read (too many tiggers), but if you are serious about healing your past it's a great tool to have.
- This workbook is filled with awareness exercises that can help a person immensely with their healing process. The exercises are designed to find limiting beliefs so you can create affirmations to clear the past and welcome the future you want. You can also do the exercises more than once and find new insights. I require this book for all my Heal Your Life training students.
- Don't buy this book, if you already have main text. It is not worth it.
All the same info and work sheets are in main text. This is just a duplication.
- This book took over a month to get to me, should have refused it. Will never order from them again. And Amazon did NOTHING!!!!!!Very disappointed on the service I received from both Amazon and seller.
- This workbook has totally changed my way of thinking, and therefore has altered my life in such a way that is positive and I am so glad I happened upon the Oprah show in which she was speaking about her book, I recommend it to anyone who has stress in their life. Or just want to be able to get through the day to day 'stuff' that surrounds our society these days!!

5 comments about Being In Balance: 9 Principles for Creating Habits to Match Your Desires.
- This is an awesome book. I have read it many times and it has had a profound effect on my life and wellbeing. I have given it as a gift to many friends and they all say "Bravo" also.
- I set this on the coffee table and pick it up periodically to read a chapter. It is short and to the point. Wish I had this a year ago.It helps me daily. Thanks you Dr. Dyer!
- I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason! This book fell into my lap through an incredible offer from a television home shopping network - one which whom I never pay any mind to. However, after reading and loving "The Power of Intention", which was my first real exposure to Dr Dyer, the message that he would be featured on the show piqued my interest and got me to tune in.
It doesn't end there though. I didn't dive in to the book immediately upon receipt - was I not ready for it yet? Hmmm...
So a few weeks went by and in the meantime I happened to see the recently released movie "The Secret". One word to describe it, "WOW"! I was and continue to be blown away!
So out of the 10 or so books that I had on deck to read, this book "Being in Balance" kind of jumped off my shelf at me - Why? I didn't know, but I pick it up and started reading it.
One by one thoughts and concepts passed on by the author just seemed to resonate with me - Do you know that `popping' sound when something just clicks with you?
This was the quintessential "right book at the right time" for me. It not only solidified some concepts that I just picked up from "The Secret" but it simplified and expanded my understanding of them.
It became even more evident to me that Dr. Dyer is simply tuned in! I'm about to embark on another book by him called "Inspiration" and I'm just thrilled with anticipation!
- After 20 years, it shouldn't be hard for him to come up with this stuff, but nonetheless, this little gem is got all the right principles, in an easy to read and delicious to feel little book. Almost a mini-reference manual. I recommend it.
- Wayne Dyer again presents us with another piece of inspired writing that helps lift your soul from the shadows of darkness to the light of day. This book, Being in Balance is a tool needed for many to get their mind and attitude right. It empowers you to cleanse the negative and self-doubting thoughts that consistently prevent you from achieving your dreams and aspirations. In chapter six,"You can't discover light by analyzing the darkness", reinforces the dilemmas and barriers we place in front of us that prevent us from achieving prosperity, whether monetarily or spiritually.
If you are lost and looking for direction this book is a great guide to bring your life back into balance.

5 comments about Conversationally Speaking : Tested New Ways to Increase Your Personal and Social Effectiveness.
- This is a great book. I bought this book because I attend many work functions during the year and I find it hard to keep conversations going after the initial introduction. This book made it easier for me. I love that the book is thin and the advice is succinct. I was able to use his techniques at a black tie gala right after reading only half of the book. Even though it's a thin book, the author asks you to read one section and then go out and apply it before reading the next section. It really works. It's easier for me to start conversations now and to steer conversations to new topics when I feel like a topic is drying out. Very useful.
- Good info. You can use it like a workbook. It discusses things such as how people see you and how to sharpen your social skills. It analyzes examples of people's social interactions and shows you how to do better. It even teaches you how to converse with others who may not be very skilled conversationalists.
After reading the book I was able to recognize improvements I needed to make and I felt I had the necessary information to make those improvements.
- This book is full of easy-to-digest and act-upon suggestions for improving your conversations and putting yourself and others at ease. I wouldn't describe myself as shy, but I often have awkward moments where I run out of things to say. This book helped me realize that I ask a lot of close-ended questions, and I've noticed a positive difference now that I ask more "why" and "how" questions. I also found chapter ten (requesting change) to be particularly useful. If you are very shy or have trouble being assertive, you may find chapters 12 and 13 (reducing your anxiety in social situations and organizing your efforts) especially helpful. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.
- This book is fantastic for adding to your ability to start up conversations or help one continue when the conversation kind of dies off. Many many good suggestions on how to avoid one word answers and boring conversation.
Highly recommend.
- You know, when I first found out about this book it was at a Barnes & Nobles. I just randomly pickup this book and start reading because I feel like connection with other people via conversation area of life can always be improved for everyone.
For some reason, once I started reading this book, I was hooked. Most book I flip through once but this book made me keep going back and finish reading it.
After I finished it I shall move on to another book, right? NO, this book actually has some much content and actual examples of conversations and I MUST BUY IT. It is one of the MUST BUY book on your bookshelf if you want to learn about the art and science of having conversations with others.
There is another book I DO NOT recommend is How To Start A Conversation And Make Friends by Don Gabor because it only tells you WHAT TO DO and never mention the HOW TO DO IT part.
Conversationally Speaking give you a little WHAT TO DO part and massive amount of HOW TO DO IT part to back it up.
Want to get all your money worth and more, GET THIS BOOK ~ ~ ~
P.S. By the way, this book is my initiation into the self help/self improvement journey. Thanks to the book and thanks to its author.

5 comments about The Self-esteem Companion: Simple Exercises to Help You Challenge Your Inner Critic & Celebrate Your Personal Strengths.
- Perfect summarised complimentary book to the self esteem book by McKay & Fanning. It complements the self-esteem book and provides strategies that you can give to clients to use.
- As a counselor, I'm always looking for new books and ideas to engage clients... this book has some wonderful exercises and the comentary is quite enlightening as well. I bought one for myself and then bought one for my adult daughter. I love the 'five finger exercise!'
- This is a helpful book, especially when working with clients that don't want to read through pages and pages of information. The exercises are helpful and easy to explain. It is focused on self-esteem and dealing with the "inner critic."
- I am enjoyingthis book...it really hits home and has easy to follow exercises that stay with you.
- Very good book. Every chapter is an exercise to improve your self esteem. Glad I bought it.
