2 comments about Recreating Your Self: Building Self-Esteem Through Imaging and Self-Hypnosis.
- This is an excellent resource for learning self-hynosis and for persons struggling with dissociation. It is clear, well organized and the hypnotic inductions can be modified/customized to work best for you. The goal is on better functioning and empowerment rather than just labeling. She takes rather complex psychological theory and makes it accessible and useable for a non-professional audience.
- I borrowed this book from a library for years, and once I moved I had to have it. It has so many great ideas and ways to visualize your future. It has helped me beyond measure.

4 comments about Black Pearls: Daily Meditations, Affirmations, and Inspirations for African-Americans.
- Black Pearls has proven to brighten my day when I read it first thing in the morning. Sometimes it's the quotations, other times, it's the tasks that are laid out, or even the commentary that helps me through the day. It's something that I can read over and over again..
- This black pearl appreciates Eric's ability to caputure the true essence of black love. The selection of poems was superb. I laughed, I cried but most of all I reflected, on what love meant to me. With Valentine's Day around the corner, this book was right on time. Thank you Eric...
- BLACK PEARLS is one year's worth of daily meditations. The collection touches almost all motivational subjects. Reading it is a positive way to start the day. It's very inspirational. Written for African Americans, but good for anybody.
- This is a great book to read at the start of everyday. It can be read by anyone of any heritage or ethnic background, it applies to anyone and everyone. Its one of those books that "makes you go hmmmm."

5 comments about The Ultimate Secrets of Total Self-Confidence.
- Unlike some of the "NEGATIVE" reviews listed here, old groaners and moaners who obviously didn't read the book or missed the point completely and haven't ploughed through the hundreds of PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) books like this - this one gets to the point with out much if any "mumbo jumbo" or "pie in the sky" weird stuff - it's easy to read, you can read it in a day if you're a slow reader like I am!
In fact, the book shows you how to avoid NEGATIVITY & NEGATIVE PEOPLE - That's the point!! Just like similar books by Napoleon Hill & Emmet Fox et al it really is inspirational & motivational (I assume that's what you're looking for) it's not just a confidence booster, as the title would otherwise suggest.
Rather than buy a dozen PMA books by the so-called "Greats" - get this one, it's right bang up to-date, concise and best of all - IT WORKS!!
It's accurate too, but unlike some of the others, you won't fall asleep and wake up next morning having completely forgotten the last chapter you read.
If you need a PMA pep pill or "pick me up", get THIS one. When your friends ask where you get you're energy from, tell them about the book and then buy them a copy too, it's too precious to lend out!
- I found a great wealth of information in this book! It gives a large range of, helpful ideas and thoughts. There are many stories, for examples, throughout history and sciences. For example: It wrote about the great leaders throughout history, who were not only known for the amount of accomplishments and success, but they ALL were great lovers- in the sense of how much they loved or how many they had loved! It kept me interested. I have been reading it off and on for 15 years...
- I bought this as a gift for someone, but (luckily) decided to skim it before giving it to them. Lucky for me. The actual writing was OK, but its subtle and constant references to religion bothered me. I thought it would be more of a rah rah book for people who need a little boost, instead it was some obvious thoughts sprinkled with religion. Didn't like it....wouldn't recommend it.
- This book gets straight to the issues of why we hold ourselves back from living the rich and happy life we deserve. Dr Anthony goes beyond the psychology and explains the holistic part of our beings that can assist us to make the dreams we want come into manifestation.
This book was written well before the movie The Secret and it covers Law of Attraction and much much more. Well worth the read and it gets you into the ready for action mode.
- I read this book by total accident. I didn't expect much, just the usual "you can do it!" kind of thing. However, after reading the first few pages I read the whole book within 4 hours.
First of all it tells you why you do what you do and why it doesn't make you the person you want to be. It gave me a lot of aha-effects. People always want to be the "special" ones with all the "special" problems. The truth is that everyone is special, however, not their problems. You make your own little world with your own truth by constantly lying to yourself. Within this world you only find proof for the things you already knew about yourself, totally disregarding everything else. You're pretty much stuck. This book tells you how to get out of there.
There are some chapters which people might consider "New Age" - especially when he talks about the Superconscience. I think it was just one out of many possible approaches to a topic that is in general hard to explain to someone who hasn't a deeper knowledge in psychology. He sure doesn't reinvent the wheel in respect to some statements he makes, e.g.: Smile and you feel better. Avoid people who bring you down. However, the overall context and the explanations are great.
Reading Adler, Jung and Freud and studying this issue for years you probably couldn't write anything different on only 200 pages.
I find the title of the book almost misleading. Without doubt more confidence is one of the results. However, it's in the first place about how to life YOUR OWN life.

- If you enjoy Chopra or Dyer you will love this audio program. Recorded live at a unity church, it captures the two of them in uniquely inspired moments summarizing the best of their parallel philosophies on life, God and metaphysics. I've read and listened to much of what Dyer and Chopra have produced and this is probably the best thing either of them have put out because it so beautifully summarizes the essence of spiritual philosophy. I bought 15 copies just to share with friends and family. A must for your listening library.
- Dr Wayne Dyer CDs makes my day. And Deepak Chopra is fantastic.
Wayne changed my life for better & made me a better person.
This CD is Fantastic as His other CDs.
I have Deepak's book 7 Spiritual Law of Success which is really one of the best book ever (I buy it for everybody as present), but this is the first time I heard him and it was wonderful.
I recommend this CD to everybody.

5 comments about Reject Me - I Love It!: 21 Secrets for Turning Rejection into Direction (Personal Development Series).
- This is a wonderful book in very good condition. I thought this was a brand new book. Thanks for getting it to me with urgency.
- When people ask me what one secret they need to know about starting a home business to make big money? I tell them to listen to this cassette album as a first step. I don't care what the business is, this is the core psychology of business success. In fact it reduces stress in business and life the tapes could put Shrinks out of work! Rod Cook
- I love this very positive book of John Fuhrman. Generally, we hate rejection but John Fuhrman gives a different viewpoint about this subject. Now, I try what I want to say and if it is rejected I do not care anymore. Thanks John !
- This book has helped me out tremendously. I love how John Fuhrman uses facts in a life's standpoint view from his and other peoples experiances to prove that what he's teaching Is the better, and easier way to live you're life.
He teaches you to look on the positive side in whatever endeavor your trying to reach for. Instead of letting all the negatives overwhelm our thinking.
You'll learn something new with every chapter. I would suggest this book to anyone that feels they need a little more self esteem or just a kick in the pants.
*I have had this book for about a month, and I'm already reading it again. GREAT REFERENCE!
- Even though it isn't a very large book the content in it is worth it's weight in gold.
It has very good antidotes on how to correct your way of thinking towards rejection. If you have read books similar then most of it you will already know from reading various other books, but there are some very insightful stories of examples that show you how people have used and loved rejection to fulfill their dreams.
Overall this is a good book on rejection. If you are looking for something that will throw a different spin on rejection, see how and why we get rejected and also how to deal with rejection, then This is a good book for you.

5 comments about Body Outlaws: Rewriting the Rules of Beauty and Body Image (Live Girls).
- I'm not of the Oprah/self-help persuasion that this book tries to please but I sense that those who are will enjoy the myriad of essays that assure women that your body looks good, sans exfoliating scrubs, nips and tucks, laser treatments, gastric bypass, and whatever expensive fix the body police dream up. There is a hint of variety - including requisite entries by an exoticized Indian American, a disabled transsexual, and a short woman - but a disproportionate number of essays address the preoccupation with weight and few are particularly well written. Read it if you are indulging in a half-pint of Ben & Jerry's in front of the telly, your hair's twisted in knots from a bad perm, and a pound of goop is smothered over your T-zone; otherwise read a real book.
- I bought this book during my introductory phase of my submersion into the pool of information that is feminist theory. That being said I do recommend this book to novices wanting to learn more about why are culture conditions women to hate their bodies. I do believe that in some ways Body Outlaws serves as a crash course in feminist theory. Through the stories of other women this book connects the dots that ultimately make up the picture of our patriarchial culture. This book welcomes all readers. The author has compiled a diverse collection of stories and as a result anybody can find an contributor who they relate to. At the beginning of writing this review I considered saying that the stories in this book were hit or miss (yes, I spent quite some time contemplating what I would write in this review. Doesn't everbody?) but after mulling over it for a minute I questioned my conclusion. Just because I didn't connect with a particular story doesn't mean that another reader won't. We all have different exeperiences. Therefore we all bring something different to the table. This fact does not mean that one story is more valid than another. So in the end I do recommend this book to anyone even those that don't (yet) embrace the label of "feminist".
- If you have a daughter, sister, any young "influencable" woman, get this for her please.
- I was required to get this book for a women's study course for college. I'm very glad that I did. This is a compliation of many stories from different women, either going through the same thing or versions of the same thing. It would be a great book for teenage girls trying to figure themselves out.
- I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit...most of the books about "body issues" or female sexuality (or some combination of the two) have, thus far, been by single authors. This one was a compilation of essays by a myriad of women (different ages, sizes, ethnicities) and was a really refreshing change from "hearing" about a given type of woman's "issue" or feelings on size/sexuality/cultural background/family expectations...it was good to hear it "from the horses mouth." I most enjoyed The Chosen People by Tali Edut and Marked for Life: Tattoos and the Redefinition of Self (Talvi)...there were none that I strongly disliked and I found Veiled Intentions: Don't Judge a Muslim Girl by her Covering (Hydar) to be quite interesting and enjoyable when I hadn't expected to like it at all. Padding It: Why I Don't need a Plus-Sized Maxi Pad made me laugh so hard I nearly peed my pants...overall, a great read for the genre! I'd recommend it just for the varied perspectives on body image and fat issues overall. A nice change of pace from my recent reading. I give it a solid B!

5 comments about Secrets of Power Persuasion: Everything You'll Ever Need to Get Anything You'll Ever Want.
- Some of the topics in this book are just common-sense, some have been widely covered elsewhere and at much greater length (e.g. Cialdini's books on Influence), but all in all this is a lovely selection of the principles of persuasion and some case stories are very entertaining to read.
This book is information-rich, but there is still more you may want to learn to enhance your persuasive skills, such as Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Hypnotic Language Patterns.
- Wow. That's all I have to say. I'm halfway through this book, looking to finish it today (lol dreaming to), and I'm absolutely amazed. I have a hobby of studying books on psychology and sociology, and I've came across some good ones and some absolute rip-offs. Some of the bad ones go over some persuasion techniques that are very cliche and you have probably already heard of, and also don't offer much in the realm of content. In this book, however, every page has something to offer, and and it's all unique. What I expected out of this book was either a complete rip-off or that only a small bit of it would be useful, but I was very surprised at how satisfied I was with it. Among all the techniques in there I've found a lot that can be used in every day life, and I can actually imagine them working. It explains a lot about persuasion techniques you've came across but didn't recognize as such, and opens your eyes to an entirely new world of persuasion altogether. I'm actually planning on reading this book two or three times, and I think after that I might actually be a better persuader than I was before I bought it. All in all, this book is very professional and offers tons and tons of content. The authors life, which he uses ocassionally for examples in his techniques, shows how amazingly successful he is without it seeming like he's bragging. He has rented yaghts, probably went to every country in the world, has hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, climbs mountains, crazy. Anyway, if you're into persusasion I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.
- You can't go wrong with ANY of his book. Don't look further, don't settle for less.
Unbelievable thing has happened to me -- I followed the advise in the book and received the promotion I wanted. Funny thing is that Roger warned that this method DOES work, and I didn't think it would work, but decided to give it a try.
Have YOU ever dreamt of getting a promotion shortly after starting a new job ??? I haven't, but it happened to me.
Thank you Mr. Dawson!!!!!!!
- I've liked Dawson for a long time. I've read and studied his books and tapes on negotiation for years. While not all of his methods work with my personality, his advice has been of real value to me.
I have the audio version of this book. It's very good. The information is valuable and I expect I'll listen to it frequently. You always pick up something new in his material.
Persuasion is necessary in almost all of life, especially sales and business. This book will go a long way in helping you to become better at persuading people to your way of thinking.
Highly recommended.
- I wasn't expecting much because I didn't seek out this
book... it just sort of appeared in my life.
I've read many books about persuasion and persuasive writing
and this is a good one. Dawson's style is easygoing and
straightforward.
of course if you are more persuaded by individuals with
academic credentials you'll want to read Hogan and Cialdini,
both of whom proudly display their PHDs.
Dawson, the guy is a salesman who made good and went into
speaking. No time for a PHD. Working class.
Part 3 focuses on charisma and how to develop it. Why
ignore that people buy from people they like? You can
practice all the sly persuasion wordplay you want and get
very Machiavellian, but in truth just working on
your charisma is a short-cut to getting what you want.
Excellent book. References to NLP only crop up at the
end. Dawson's techniques are all real-world tried-and-true
things you can apply to a wide range of situations. It's
not a book of principles really - it's a book of actual
methods.

5 comments about The Way of the Small: Why Less Is More.
- What a treat to read The Way of The Small by Michael Gellert. It is inspirational, and filled with wise stories that are immediately useful in daily life. It is superbly written, a real page turner and runs the gamit from tears to laughter in its pages. A book to own and to give as gifts to friends, colleagues and neighbors. It is so readable and enjoyable you will congratulate yourself for having discovered it, as I have.
- Let me say that this is the first time I have been moved to write a review on Amazon but have always found helpful and benefited by others that have taken the time to do so.
The author treats us with an alternative look at our material society that bombards us with "more is better". We in the west live in an age whereby keeping up with the Jones's has been replaced with "surpass the Jones's at any cost". Difficult to not get caught up in the jetstream of advertising.
It addresses all stages of life so that nearly anyone can pick it up and find relevance to their particular circumstance. I could see this benefiting young teens as well as those at the end of life looking for ways to find peace. I highly recommend this book as a "life guide".
If you have ever bought a book to tried to figure out how to be happy or looked for ways to be more tranquil, then your collection could be more complete with this book which begs to be a classic.
Michael synthesizes centuries of wisdom with his pilgramage to find truth and further refines it with stories from his therapy practice so that ancient wisdom comes alive in a modern day context. Bottom line is that there is so much useful information that can be applied easily to daily life.
I find myself referring back to it. It is a book you will read and reread at different stages of your life and get something new each time you read it.
I work for a Fortune 500 comany and we are in the process of contacting this author to arrange for seminars for our employees. Not only could this bring them more happiness but make them more productive.
- I read this book slowly and thoughtfully. Addressing the contemporary challenges of our fast-paced consumerist society and hunger for meaning, Jungian Analyst Michael Gellert has put together a work that is inspiring and comprhensive. There are not easy answers here; this is not a book of pop psychology or easy religion. Rather, a thoughtful challenge to come back to ourselves, connect to what is real in the moment, and develop a way of living that is sustaining spiritually-regardless of your faith. The author's access to the texts and stories from all of the world's sacred traditions is truly impressive. However, it is this book's heart that is its central feature. I'm sure that I will return to it often.
- I was very disappointed in this book. I ordered several for gifts and waited to read it before I sent them to my friends. The books will be going to a used book store, not to my friends. Although I found some value in the book, there was not enough there to compensate for the time invested. Surely there is a better option for the delivery of this topic.
- The Way of the Small: Why Less Is More
Disraeli noted that "life is too short to be little". But I believe he was speaking in the context that we should be accomplishing worthwhile things with our lives. Michael Gellert suggests that we can become more of who we really are by becoming little in a different way,by reducing ego and manufactured self-importance, being humble and recognizing that others have strengths superior to ours. That liberates us to focus on what we can do better. A welcome book in an era when life is often defined as being "all about me" and material possessions. Less can be more in the end.
