  1. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1WAZWI2X9S1NR

  2. This book has helped me to change my life. Specifically, it has helped me to overcome certain fears (specifically related to communication and self-confidence). Halfway through reading it and doing the exercises the tables that have been stuck in my life for what feels like years and years, have started to turn. The exercises are user friendly and can be accommodated to your time schedule/preferences. Honestly, it is an ongoing process (new fears can have the habit of springing up again and again)..so I am so grateful to be able to return to using the generous and creatively structured tools in GULP for all kinds of new situations. Reading this book has changed the way that I look at fear in my own life and frankly that is nothing short of miraculous. With heartfelt gratitude that there is something out there that not only defines what is "wrong" but gives you wonderful ways as to how to going about changing. THANK YOU, Gabriella, for creating this wonderful book!

1 comments about Girlfriend to Girlfriend: Everyday Wisdom and Affirmations from the Sister Circle.
  1. This simple, yet heart-warming book has short little affirmations for each and every situation that touches sisters today, from the pain of death and disappointment to the joy of celebrating yourself on a constant, daily basis. Not to debase Julia's contribution by comparison, but think of it as shorter,to-the-point "faith in the valley". In the back, it even allows the reader to have "the last word" as there are blank pages for your own thoughts or mantras. This book can be ab instant pick-me-up and a great gift to the struggling sister in your life.

2 comments about The Secret Message of Shame: Pathways to Hope and Healing.
  1. This book categorizes shame in many different ways - almost too many. But it has really good chapters on several of the types of shame with lots of practical exercises. One of the useful analogies in the book is a comparison between healing from shame and healing from frostbite. I'm finding this book to be really helpful in looking at shame in a different way, in letting myself experience the shame rather than run away from it, to hopefully be able to move beyond it. I highly recommend the book.

  2. I thought that this book was weak. The only positive I can say about this book is that it had some interesting points on the explanation or causes of shame but also it had parts that I didn't understand because I found contradicting points to their conclusions of shame also. Mainly why the book didn't do it for me because of it's style on how to deal with shame. It was too "touchy-feely". Hey if you think staring at yourself in the mirror and saying you love yourself everyday will work for you, then by all means go ahead and buy this book. But I thought that it lacked substance and the feeling I got after reading this book was wanting my money back.

  1. This is a great book with valuable information on how to keep your power. You will learn about Silent Talking, the Wisdom of Non-Action, Psychic Protection and a lot more. A must read.

  2. I really enjoyed this book and thick there is allot that I will strive o apply... Just make sure to do the exercises and be delighted with the results.. Some of his stuff is not for me, but I love and derive many things from his stuff. I am glad I found him.. Despite if I think some of his other work is a little out there I must say... Btu then again I never agree with anyone 100% of the time... Buy this book and you will be glad you did.

  3. I enjoy Stuart's sense of humor and direct way of speaking. Realistically, it takes time, focus and discipline to change personal behavior patterns. I would have liked to hear more on this topic. As with ALL self-help topics, I feel it's best to focus on what parts resonate with you and discard the rest.

  4. I've never written a review on amazon before but I felt compelled to warn people about the idiocy they are about the unleash upon themselves. First of all I can't believe someone who says openly that they are separated from the itellect is writing books. That confuses me. Furthermore this guy is completely off his rocker. We are all star dust? Is that a metaphor? Sadly through his incomprehensible ramblings he touches on VERY few subjects that make sennse. But overall I think this guy has seen one too many bad martial arts movies and he should probably stick to just silence and give up on the power.

  5. If you find people shying away from you once you meet them or tending to always pull away from you, you must read this book. Even though I'm not either of the latter, This book has helped me to understand ways to have equilibrium and power in conversation and encounters. This book will change how you interact with people and help gain respect if you are meek.

5 comments about The Politics of Crystal Meth: Gay Men Share Stories of Addiction And Recovery.
  1. This is a book that is seperated into 2 parts. Many people will not be able to identify with the first half because of the sometimes very technical subject matter. But what we cannot afford to ignore is the second half. The stories so willingly shared by a group of people who hit bottom. With nothing else to lose, these addicts experienced a moment of clarity and started clawing their way back up. If you are an addict, know one, were one or just want to know....THIS BOOK IS A MUST.

  2. I saw this book being advertised all over the place on gay sites. I loved the stories. The stories about Robbie, Dave, Stuart, Corey, and Darryl. I could identify with each one of them in some ways. Reading this book made me realize I was not alone in my addiction. So much of how I felt was based on shame and fear of talking about meth use. This book gets the gay community talking. You know sometimes I feel the gay community almost encourages drug use. But this book gave me hope of sobriety and sanity. Thank You!

  3. Dr. Ken Cimino
Your dedication on this book inspired me. There is no doubt that your work will touch the lives of those who read it. I hope my story in this book will also help change lives.

I salute you Dr. Ken Cimino

  4. This book is pivotal for anyone who wants to know what it is like for someone in the new millenium to suffer through meth addiction. The first few chapters explore commentary and "reasons" per say about why gay men choose Meth. But the stories at the back of the book are the ones that capture the true feeling of growing up gay in America and how addiction can take a hold of ones life and rip them apart as well as the ones that they love and love them.
It is highly recommended for someone suffering with addiction, families and loved ones who may be witnessing this now and those who have been fortunate to come through the otherside.
    As stated above....A Must Read!!

  5. I found the politics portion of the book a bit much, insightful, but I guess I'm just not interested in the why and the causes. I'm more interested in finding information about others and their stories of recovery from this horrible drug. I've had my problems with it and I think I've overcome them. My partner on the other hand still has problems and I am trying to find the best way to help him and others thru the process of recovery. The guys in the stories are from various social & economic back grounds and all found recovery or are finding recovery from various stages of use.

2 comments about Rebirthing: Freedom from Your Past.
  1. This book has helped me to find out this therapy, that is in fact a way of life. This incredible therapy can heal disease, can help you to feel better, teach you to be yourself and it's very useful to heal traumas. The autor explains it perfectly and enthusiastically, telling the most relevant cases that she has lived, including hers one. The book is just an introduction to the rebirthing but is very useful and easy to read. I really recommend it to everyone.

  2. This is a short book describing the benefits of Rebirthing. It presents numerous cases (i.e., sessions that the author conducted with her clients), of what people experienced during their Rebirthing sessions. Very interesting and fascinating. After reading this book, you'll really want to do a Rebirthing session! (It is a very positive, enthusiastic and well written book.)

However, if you are a beginner and just wanted to find out how to do Rebirthing on your own, then this is definitely not the right book for you (just like all the other Rebirthing books). Of the 180 pages there are only a few pages that will tell you how to breathe during Rebirthing. She also says that you should only try this technique on your own for about 20 connected-breaths, then go and see a Rebirthing Professional. That's it! And she never explains the difference (and consequences) between short, long, slow, fast, mouth, nasal, etc., circular (i.e., non-stop, connected) breaths. So, if you have no access to a Rebirthing Professional, then you are out of luck. (And some Rebirthing Professionals, if you can find them here in Canada, can be ridiculously expensive, especially if you follow their recommendations and take between 10 and 20 sessions from them; or if you decide to take a Rebirthing course from them.)

As the title says, the last third of the book is all about past lives experienced during Rebirthing by her clients and contacting the "white light".

A better book on Rebirthing is "VIVATION: The Science of Enjoying All of Your Life" by Jim Leonard and Phil Laut (Paperback, 1991). (Note, in my opinion, Vivation is synonymous with Rebirthing.).

I still highly recommend this book to all beginners because it is very interesting and gives a great promise that you can accomplish tremendous self-improvement/liberation, in a short period of time, with Rebirthing.

  1. Insightful, thought provoking and funny, this book is unique. Robbins makes compelling connections between spiritual traditions and writes in an entertaining manner. Definitely a help to those on a spiritual path..

  2. This book is written in a caring, humorous, and educated voice that is easy to follow, while exploring the deepest issues of existence. . . all while helping you see that it's not that deep afterall. I HIGHLY suggest reading this book for self-discovery, healing, meditation, enlightenment, or any other journey you may find yourself on. This book is comparable to Ram Dass' Journey of Awakening, any of Alan Watts' books, as well as Ken Wilber's texts. Don't miss out on this one.

5 comments about Taming Your Inner Brat: A Guide for Transforming Self-Defeating Behavior.
  1. There is a point in this book where the author states that this is not about criminal thinking; but as someone who works in a men's prison as a counselor, I can tell you this is SPECIFICALLY the kind of criminal thinking we try to address in cognitive thinking therapy groups.

There are different levels of criminality. And some very serious criminals are never caught and arrested. If someone's inner brat is out of control, trust me, they are engaged in criminal behavior.

I would recommend this book to anyone working with criminal thinking on any level.

  2. This book was great. If you have problems with self-discipline, in any area of your life, this book is for you. Not only is it helpful, it is interesting. The world, in general, seems to be getting "brattier". This book offers great insight to explain how and why this is happening.

  3. My own personal inner brat didn't like this book at first. "Baby Sally" didn't like being told that she might not be entitled to whatever she wants whenever she wants it. But the book makes a whole lot of sense. The first thing it suggests is to listen to your inner brat and take those needs into consideration. Then it shows how to make an adult decision, based on reality. I find its sensible suggestions coming back to me when I'm tempted to react like a brat. That's helped me cope much better with frustrations and feel good about myself. This is a sane, simple, and very readable book.

  4. The Truth: I'm a Girl, I'm Smart and I Know EverythingOh, no, my inner brat is not happy I've read this book. She thought she had one up on me. Even though I've been a grown-up forever, she had control of me at certain times when she would emerge and make me in a bad mood, or made me fuss and fume and tried to have me give up on a project. Seriously, as a positive psychologist in private practice, I have to agree with the premise of this book. We all struggle with moods and reactions left over from childhood. And the more successfully we can get them under control, rather than them controlling us, the better our adult lives will be. Dr. Wallin gives excellent suggestions to begin to get on top of lots of our old reaction patterns. She gives insights, suggestions and helpful advice on where and how to start on taming our inner brat. She leaves the reader with confidence that although "The inner brat part of your mind has the potential to sabotage your best efforts...your rational mind is well equipped to maintain a healthy balance."

This book is an excellent read for us therapist, clients and the rest of us grown-ups walking around with an innter brat. I guess that is most of us!

  5. Dr. Pauline,
I've been reading your book and can't put it down! It is a work of art; amazingly engaging and easy to read. When time allows, I read a short section and gain enough valuable information to adjust my life for the better immediately. You are truly in touch with what the reader needs and simple ways to accomplish amazing personal growth. I applaud you for the positive impact you will make in every reader's life!
