5 comments about Essential Manners for Men: What to Do, When to Do It, and Why.
- This book is okay. There are a few good pointers in here; if you happen to get a copy it's worth holding onto. Some of the things the author writes about, though (helping around the house, helping with the kids, wedding invitations, etc.), will probably strike most guys as common sense. That said, if you're a 20-something guy who hasn't realized that women don't appreciate it when you stare at their breasts, then this might just be the book for you.
- Bought for needy cousin. cant say it helped him much. he seemed to enjoy though.
- book arrived on time and in better condition than I thought. Highly recommend using this seller again.
- An easy, quick read. Tells WHY manners are important and written from a man's perspective. My teenaged son's friend picked it up while visiting our house and liked it so much he asked to take it home to read it.
- Its a great and entertaining book. furthermore, it was easy to read and very practical.

5 comments about What Do You Really Want for Your Children?.
- Wayne Dyer has brought his widsom and wit to the hard process of parenting with this inspiring but daunting how-to designed to raise "no-limit" children. Sadly, it's discouraging to realize the amount of hard work, discipline and self-control that are required from parents to pull off this challenging protocol for raising kids to be non-blaming, empathetic and self-confident adults. The main precepts tend to be repeated many times, but that's helpful for learning things well. As you might expect, there are plenty of helpful self-improvement tips for adults, who must really be exemplary people to follow the child-rearing advice Dyer gives. It would have been nice to have this book much sooner in my parenting career - now, as a grandparent, I'm finding it difficult to convince my daughter that the Dyer approach is workable. Even if you only adopt a few of his ideas, you will be rewarded, I think, with happier and better-adjusted children.
- As the author of Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves, I find What Do You Really Want for YOur Children to be nice, but not on the leading edge. Wayne Dyer is always full of stories and joy which is inspiring. The book is a fine introduction to being a parent who does not follow the old authoriterian ways. If you are inspired, don't stop here. Read other, more up to date books.
For example, Wayne speaks in praise of praise, yet, praise is manipulation. It gives the parents control over the child. The parent uses it to attempt to get a child to repeat a good behavior or achievement or control their emotions. If you read Punished by Rewards, or my own articles about praise and my book, you would know that praise is as bad as punishment and actually harms self-esteem and self-reliance.
Although much is missing in this book, it is also a delight to read from a delightful writer and speaker.
- i thought this book had good points that would be useful to parents who don't have psychology background - there are many references to various types of positive reinforcement and conflict resolution that would be helpful.
- Being the father of three children, I enjoyed reading this book. This book helped me to see many of the negative parenting patterns that years of conditioning had created in my ego. The number one thing that I walked away with was the understanding that my children have to make their own lives (with my wife's and my guidance, of course), and that it is not my place to control them. Wayne also provides ways to help you see yourself and then how to correct any negative traits you possess concerning parenting. While I may not agree 100% with every idea he has regarding parenting, I would say I agree 90% (now that I've read it). I have seen many of my fallacies and have seen how they have affected and will affect my children negatively; I have seen how to change those ways also, thanks to this book.
I believe EVERY parent should read this book, and I've given it to new parents and have recommended it to others. No matter how old your children are, Wayne has written this book for you, now. It's never too late to correct your mistakes and help your children grow to be mature, responsible, creative, limitless adults, and Wayne stresses that in this book. I believe you will appreciate it, therefore, I highly recommend it.
- This book opens yours eyes to things we are doing to and around our children that we don't even know we're doing. It is definitely a must read for any parent or grand parent

5 comments about Keys to the Kingdom.
- This book is the best at describing the stages men go thru. knowing this will help me understand my two teenager sons and any men that I interact with, making this a more pleasurable relationship.
- This book will teach you a lot about men in a fun, interesting and enjoyable format. Definitely a book everybody should read. It will help your relationship with your partner, son, father and friends. I highly recommend it.
- Maybe I'm just different than most women, but I found the pseudo-"novel" format Armstrong used to be annoying. There's good information in here, to be sure, but in order to extract that good information, I had to read through way too much sentimental fluff. What's more, the fictional part of the novel simply isn't very well-written. The prose is syrupy and predictable, and at times literally had me wincing.
I would have much preferred that she simply present the information she's compiled in a straightforward, non-fiction format. As it is, if I'm going to really make use of the message she's trying to convey, I'll need to go back through the book and create my own outline, or highlight the actual "meat" of the text.
My other problem with the book is that because her viewpoint is purely secular, she neglects the spiritual aspect of men's life stages. It seems to me that it would have been possible to address this without having to go into sectarian particulars. By not addressing it at all, she's left a large hole in the work.
You do have to work for it, but there's good content in here that certainly fits what I've observed about men I know. If women are open-minded enough to hear Armstrong's message, I think it can help us relate better to the men in our lives.
- EVERY MAN AND WOMAN SHOULD READ THIS BOOK. IT SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL.
- Starts slow, but ends strong. Great message and truth's. Well worth the read.It is what many men wish women really understood. If woman were to buy in to the reality of the stages men go through it would solve many communication issues and hurt feelings.

5 comments about Life Lists for Teens: Tips, Steps, Hints, and How-Tos for Growing Up, Getting Along, Learning, and Having Fun.
- Every teen needs a copy of this book, not because it will make your life easier, but because it will at least make it simpler and more organized. Filled with sections on Health & Wellness, Getting Along, Staying Safe, School & Learning, Going Online, Planning Ahead, Saving the World, Focus On You, and Just for Fun, there is a ton of information just waiting in LIFE LISTS FOR TEENS.
Some of my favorite lists include:
1) 17 Ways to Manage Stress
2) 20 Ways to Tell if a Relationship is Unhealthy
3) A Bill of Rights for Children of Divorce
4) 12 Suicide Warning Signs
5) 19 Note-Taking Tips
6) The Student Bill of Rights
7) 7 Things You Should Know About Online Privacy
8) 10 Tips for Procrastinators
9) 10 Reasons Why You Need Self-Esteem
10) 12 Reasons to Write
11) 13 Things You Can Do to Promote Diversity
Overall, this is a great book for teens, pre-teens, and even parents. A helpful handbook to daily life!
- If you are a teen, a parent, a teacher, a therapist, a counselor, a librarian, or absolutely anyone who works with teens....BUY THIS BOOK!!!!
It is amazingly well-written, comprehensive beyond belief, and one of the only few books that you can actually open to any page and use the material exactly as it is - no modifications necessary.
Plus, teens are very receptive to this. It's concise, user friendly, current and relevant!
- My daughter loved this book. I thought it was good too. It's easy to read...not at all preachy...useful, easy to understand information. My daughter makes to do lists, and don't forget lists, and pros and cons lists....so this bood seemed like a no brainer when I was looking for a book for her to take on her trip. She liked that you could read a few lists at a time, put the book away, and think about what you just read.
- I got this book for my daugher and gave it to her during a boyfriend crisis. She sat down and read some of it and it made her feel a lot better for the weekend. I think it gave her some perspective on making sure she has fun and not to make too much of some things that people say or worry about the "girl" stuff that teenagers have to live with. I hope that she will refer to it often. I bought it for my two nieces for Christmas, one going through a parent divorce. I hope she reads it, it has some good advise for this too.
- This is an incredible book! I bought it for my daughter, but then kept for myself and using it in my 6th grade English class. Students are asking to read it on their own. Yes!

5 comments about Trim Kids(TM): The Proven 12-Week Plan That Has Helped Thousands of Children Achieve a Healthier Weight.
- As a parent and a teacher, I found this book well-written and fairly easy to use.
My daughter has already lost 7 pounds in one month through portion control, good choices and regular exercise (5 days a week).
- There's a lot of good information here. As a teacher of twenty-five years, and as a parent, I've dealt with more than my share of overweight kids, and read everything that comes along on the subject. And although this book is one of the better ones out there, I've been recommending the CD talk "The Fat Kid's Diet: Stop Childhood Obesity In Your Home," available here at Amazon, to the parents who come to me with their concerns. It's brief, sensible, and right to the point.
- I read this book to help my daughter who is slightly overweight. I didn't even keep it in my library. If your child has an obesity problem, or if you just have no idea what healthy eating is this book will help you, but to be honest there were many times while reading it that I just had to say "duh!" I was looking for some insight beyond simple common sense. My family doesn't eat fast food three times a week and spend hours watching TV every day. If you have a child that seems to be active and eats a well balanced diet, but still is overweight I would not recommend you looking to this book for an answer.
- I really love this book. It has been a great help. My little boy and I can't wait to use it.
- I never received my order. Nor did I receieve any type of response from the seller when I sent inquires.

5 comments about The ADD & ADHD Answer Book: Professional Answers to 275 of the Top Questions Parents Ask.
- After reading this book I have a better understanding of children with ADD & ADHD and what parents are faced with on a regular basis. Extremely well written and I am looking for to more books from Dr. Ashley.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
- I like the direct "how to" advice in this book. My husband and I have promised one another we will not medicate our daughter and this book has given us more faith that we can keep that committment. This book has given us ideas that are simple to use and practical. Our daughter has a 504 but after reading Dr. Ashley's book we requested another IEP meeting and revised her entire plan based upon the ideas in this book. She is doing much better in school now and homework is not the torture we all used to suffer. The 504 ideas in the back of the book are worth it alone. our school is now using dr. ashley's checklist to help design IEP and 504s for all their add and adhd kids.
- I was looking for a book to help me understand my son's ADD. This was very resourceful. It explains everything so well. It has advice for organization, structure, behavior, etc. I was very pleased with this book.
- The book arrived earlier than expected. It was exactly what the ad said it was and more...very satisfied!
- I just bought this book with the intentions of reading it. I came to this site to see what other people think about the book. So far I have seen really good reviews on it. But what bothers me are those parents who stress that THEY WILL NOT medicate their child. As a mother I never ever wanted to take that route. I read alot of information to help him without medication. What foods he can eat and other helpful ways to help him without medicine, that was very difficult. Finally after he was almost kicked out of Preschool I took him to our school district and they evaluated him having ADHD. With their diagnosis they allowed him to attend preschool at no cost to me, to make him understand school rules. I also took him to our pediatrician, crying with the news of what they told me, I knew that medication was the only way to help him. Upset and depressed we went home. I started 2weeks before kindergarden and I have notice what a good kid he had become. Since then he has been more focus and attentive in class. He gets his moments when he distracts class but other than that he is doing good. He is very very smart, from what the teachers are telling me.

5 comments about The Rookie Mom's Handbook: 250 Activities to Do with (and Without!) Your Baby.
- I LOVE this book, I wish I had it when my first child was born. It is filled with creative and humorous ideas for enjoying the precious time you have with your baby, including tips on how to include your partner and other moms. It gave me inspiration and motivation to get out of the house and take my little ones with me! It does seem to be geared for stay-at-home moms, however, as a mom who works outside of the home, the activities can also be done in the evenings or on weekends.
- This was a little book of 250 more things to put on your to do list.
- I love to give this book to all my new mom friends. I feel like this book is written by real moms for real moms. I LOVE IT!!
- This book is not what I expected it to be. It's full of suggestions for what to do when your baby is asleep. This is a bit laughable to me. One of them suggested trying on all of your shoes, deciding which ones 'no longer fit your lifestyle,' and giving them away. I think this could cause depression as one at least wants to think that there is a future for those high heels again at some point. I expected more educational and age-appropriate suggestions for stimulation of my child, and there are some of those. But it spoke to a different demographic I think; perhaps it's right for the isolated, suburban or country-living stay home mom who feels lonely at home and has lots of time to kill. But for me, life is so busy just taking care of the basics. I wanted a book to give me ideas for creating fun for my child and this just wasn't the right thing for me. I returned it.
- this is a great book to give as a gift to a new mom. i wish i had this book when my first child was born!

5 comments about Everything You Need to Know to Have a Healthy Twin Pregnancy.
- Dr. Leiter offers great professional and personal insights into twin pregnancy. Her medical information is just enough and easy to comprehend for the curious layperson. Though you'll learn what can go wrong, she keeps the focus on the positive and offers encouraging examples from patients and her own experience. This book is great to read with Twinspiration, which focuses more on what happens after you bring them home from the hospital.
- This book was great -- I read it time and again -- but it lacked more in-depth information about what to expect for each trimester. The information about your pregnancy during given periods of time was very, very brief.
- The title of this book is very misleading. Instead of telling readers how to have a healthy pregnancy, the author lists major complications one after another. There were way too many statistics and percentages and I felt like I was reading the same information over and over. This book was very scary to read and offered no reassurance that a multiple pregnancy would end happily. I would definitely not recommend this book to any pregnant women.
- This book was very beneficial to me. This was my first pregnancy and I bought several books but none of them focused on twins or even had a chapter dedicated to twins.
Most, if not all, of my questions were answered reading this book. I also took advantage of the resources provided.
- I bought several books on twins. This one was not worth the extra money, as I could have EASILY gotten the exact same information from two other books that covered ALL the topics included in this book, but which were written in a more accessible and positive way. The first was: When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads, Revised Edition by Barbara Luke When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads, Revised Edition: Proven Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy and Twinspiration: Real-Life Advice From Pregnancy Through the First Year by Cheryl Lage. Twinspiration: Real-Life Advice From Pregnancy Through the First Year (for Parents of Twins and Multiples). I would also recommend "What to expect when you're expecting" What to Expect When You're Expecting: 4th Edition. That book has a great readability and pretty comprehensive information overall about pregnancy in general.
I would say between these four books, the book by Dr. Leiter (everything you need to know to have a healthy...) is beyond redundant information. The thing I disliked most about Dr. Leiter's book was that it was so sterile and medically based that it came off very negative. All the books had the same information about possible complications and so on, but her presentation made it seem like pregnancy was going to be all gloom and doom with nothing but hurdles to jump and that hoping to have a normal healthy pregnancy was really unrealistic.
It also lacked practical advice and real world advice. Every time a little case story was offered about a woman's pregnancy it was negative and showcased how worried the mother was or how something she did lead to complications. This is important information, but it isn't offered in a way that allows for the reader to feel like the problem is actually rare or avoidable. I feel that I spent a bit of time reading this book and felt more worried about my pregnancy afterwards than before, even though I don't have any complications and my babies are doing really well. I guess my point is, I can worry plenty on my own, and I'd rather stick to books that offer the same information about problems in risks in a way that is more neutral.
You can get every bit of information in this book in the other books. If you are looking for a medically based book for information, "When you're expecting twins..." By Dr. Luke above is a friendlier read and has the SAME information offered with alternatives, not just doom. It also offers lots more information specific to Multiple pregnancies, lots of nutrition advice, and was written with both positive stories from patients as well as potholes some women in her practice faced. But after the negative, Dr. Luke would go into how realistic that problem might be for the reader and how it might be avoided. It was far more balanced and positive to read.
I also thought that "Twinspirations" written by a mom, was a fun book to read and had LOTS of practical advice as well as family situations, things her husband thought about, things I would have never thought of myself, and I actually laughed several times with the author at things she wrote about. This was a very positive and helpful book. This was the book I asked my husband to read, because it was most readable and practical and fun. It also brought up a lot of family issues, like finances, handling the household work, child care, and practical life/household situations that a medical style informational book doesn't usually even touch upon.
Really, there's nothing really that bad about "Everything you need to know..." but there are just other books that do the same thing FAR better. I know I planned on buying several books and I could have left this one out.

5 comments about It's My Life Now: Starting Over After an Abusive Relationship or Domestic Violence, 2nd Edition.
- I left an abusive relationship and kept wondering why me? This book really helped me see what happened and why I stayed as long as I did. I really could relate to the book well and it helped a lot with the healing process.
- This book is very informative on this subject matter. It provided the information I needed.
- This book is amazing & I highly reccomend this book !!!!! Very insightful & extremely helpful !!! Also combines a workbook aspect for assesments !! Please if you have just left a Violent relationship, I highly recommend this book, it could literally save your life !
- After coming out of an abusive marriage, I was desperate. This book was one of my saviors. It helped to make sense of so much, without feeling ashamed or guilty. I recomend it to anyone who thinks they might have been abused, physically, emotionally, financially.... It's kind of like a best friend.
In other words a great read.
- It's My Life Now fills an important gap in the literature on domestic violence. There are several great books out there that help bring the abused to the point of recognizing that they are in an abusive relationship that they must escape. These books help clarify the patterns and cycles that are common to so many abusive relationships. When searching for help and healing myself, I largely encountered books that told me how to get out, get safe, and (had I any children) get custody. But at that point, I had already fought my way out of my abuser's grasp and was searching for something to help me untangle the webs of control, humiliation, and verbal abuse I had endured. I was also struggling with difficult feelings of guilt, loss, and anger that I needed some guidance to process. That is where this book came in: the practical guide to regaining yourself after enduring abuse and/or violence.
What is so valuable and remarkable about this book, compared to many others, is that it walks the abused through the complicated (and admittedly frightening) time AFTER she gets out of the relationship.
It begins with the typical identification of abuse and abusive behaviors, but as this book is written for those who have already left their abuser, this list serves a different purpose. In an incredibly reassuring and helpful chapter that addresses the feelings of love for the abuser that may still remain, we are asked to make a list of the qualities that were attractive in him in the first place. Then, we return to the initial chapter's list of abusive behaviors and make a list of what type of abuses were committed and with what frequency. The positive list serves to reassure the abused that she had compelling reasons for being attracted to the abuser, while the abuses list reminds her that the abuser (however charming) is not who he seemed. There are many more simple, journal-style exercises that I found important for gaining insight and perspective.
The book addresses key issues I encountered in the uncomfortable period that ensued within one week or two of leaving my abuser. The author also recommends that readers return to these topics and exercises one month later, for comparison. (Perspective is everything.) I have emphatically recommended this book to the women I have met in domestic violence support groups, who have returned nothing but praise for the usefulness, pertinence and clarity of It's My Life Now. I have found it invaluable in my own process and will continue to refer to it when I require strength or guidance.

5 comments about Wake Up Now.
- In Wake Up Now, Stephan Bodian presents a wonderfully clear and true explanation of awakening and offers many exercises to facilitate the experience of one's true self. I highly recommend this book for those who are awakening or who have awakened and who want to understand that process better--because, as Stephan explains, for most people, awakening isn't an endpoint but is followed by a continual deepening and unwinding of conditioning. Stephan is a trustworthy guide in this and knows what he is talking about.
Gina Lake, author of Radical Happiness: A Guide to Awakening
- Stephan is a gifted writer that has managed to distill the essence of the spiritual 'pathless' path into this single book. He covers what happenes both before realization and after and sheds light on several false beliefs surrounding spiritual practice, covers what realization really is, offers numerous practical tips that do not over engage the mind, and much more. It is a wonderfully practical book as well as offering the theory in practical terms. And most importantly, the reader feels the vast consciousness with which the book was written in every sentence and the more we read, we begin to realize the book it helping to put us with that same consciousness within us. A valuable book for those on any spiritual path.
- Having been a big fan of Adyashanti and Peter Fenner (Radiant Mind), I found this book by Stephan Bodian to be very easy to understand and follow. If you are on the path and exploring non-dualist practise, this book is a must! After putting into practise some of the suggestions in this book, I have felt a quantum change in my meditation practice. Highly recommend!
- An incredible book for spiritual/meditative practice. It answered so many questions and tied up so many loose ends, with clarity and gentle guidance. An absolute must read for a contemplative, especially if you're practicing solo.
- There is a new way of awakening that is happening to human beings outside the confines of traditional teachings and institutions, and there are few teachers skillful enough or experienced enough to guide seekers along this pathless path. Stephen Bodian is one of them. As far as this way of awakening can be described and mapped, Stephen does an excellent job. For those who are ernest about true awakening and post awakened life, "Wake Up Now" is an essential guide book.
Stephen spent his life searching for the truth and finally found it where it always is. He studied and trained with great teachers in Zen, Advaita Vedanta, and Mahamudra. He is a trained and experienced psychotherapist. He spent a number of years as editor of Yoga Journal. Finally, his search ended with Adyashanti, a very skillful and iconoclastic Zen teacher. Adya asked Stephen to teach and this book is Stephen's teaching gift to us. I highly recommend it to those beginning the search, those half-way along the path to no-where, and those who are "done." Thank you, Stephen, for this gift of grace.
