5 comments about Confidence: How to Succeed at Being Yourself.
- Dr. McGinnis writes, "One of the strangest things we observe in therapy is that people who doubt themselves often cannot accept compliments." He prefaces this observation with a call for balance, saying this book is not designed to present an exaggerated look at self-esteem. The other extreme to be avoided is low self-esteem and false modesty. The approach taught in the Bible is to "love your neighbor as you love yourself." That is the balance he advocates.
I love writers who reinforce something I'm already doing. Such is the case with this author who tells his readers to keep a journal. There's other solid advice given such as spend time in solitude, praying and seeking God's Wisdom. We're reminded that we are always in a state of flux and will be as long as we live. In developing this balanced approach to life even further, he quotes Karl Menninger in saying that to be well-adjusted a healthy person needs a combination of play, love, and work. Yes, work is part of the mix. Self-esteem comes from a sense of purpose. Discovering who God designed you to be is part of life's joyous adventure. He notes, "God's blueprint for us is often written in our natures." The power of imaging is explained in this book. Like me, he visualized himself becoming a doctor before he finished earning the degree. He describes how faith is an integral part of this imagination process. Dr. McGinnis successfully brings his discussion to a logical conclusion by talking about the connection between love of self, love of others and love of God. Those, of course, are what sum up the commandments. Jesus told us that. This book adds some substance to that ongoing exploration. Reading it and applying its teachings will enhance your life's quality.
- I know you've heard that phrase before, I know I have. And yet, I did not experience this until after having read this book. I didn't even think I had a problem with confidence, any more than the next person, that is, until I started reading it. McGinnis touches on so many points and issues that many of us have, but do not realize are related to how we view ourselves. He also points out where a lot of our "flaws" are connected to our past AND how we can help change that. "Confidence" teaches you to accept yourself and love yourself. It is a book that approaches this topic from a spiritual and religious perspective (but this not overdone). Reading this book helped me to change my view of myself as well as to move forward from the past and address the emotional issues that were hindering me. I give it 5 stars and I think everyone should read it...I know that I am glad that I did.
- This book mentions God, Jesus, Christ, or quotes Scripture multiple times in each chapter. I freely acknowledge that some people might find this helpful, but I did not. Written for depressed Holy Rollers. Skip it if you don't fit that description.
-
I found this to be an especially well-written, helpful book. Lots of tips and good advice.
- The late Pastor McGinnis was the most honest and practical self-help author I have ever read. I believe that he wrote this book with helping people as his first objective, unlike some authors who are just in it for the money. This book uses his unique balance of realism and optomism. If you've read other similar books, this one should stand out. In it he acknowledges that humans have limits and are not perfect, but then gives a realistic new mindset and practical advice. Highly reccomended.

5 comments about Soul to Soul: Communications from the Heart.
- Gary gets better and better. If you're trying to establish a way to start the day on a positive note, but you're not a morning person, this is it. Every passage is only 1-1/2 to 2 pages long, incredibly profound but also understandable if you're not at your peak understanding in the mornings. Page 196 that addresses the question "How do I avoid being drawn into the chaos of others?" is worth the price of the book. Thank you, Gary, and keep up the good work!
- Recent research (Aird, University of Queensland) found that those who practiced New Age spirituality had 50% "higher rates of anxiety, depression, and anti-social behavior" than those who believe in traditional religion, such as Christianity.
I was curious enough to read this book.
Many things disturbed me. His beliefs about evil especially so. If you notice something evil, say, the mass murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazis, and "if you are repulsed and frightened, you are judging what you encounter" (p 157). Zukav insists you are "joining" evil if you judge it. Worse, "if you react self-righteiously to evil, look inside for the very thing that so agitates you, and you will find it" (p 157).
Nonsense. If I am repulsed and frightened by mass murder I am not joining it. Nor is the evil somehow inside me because I react this way.
He claims that "Judgment has an emotional charge to it. It makes one person a victim and another a villain" (p 192). Why, of course, how stupid of humanity to think that the murdered Jews were victims and the Nazis villains.
His winter and summer solstices reminded me forcibly of Druidism, whose reliance on human sacrifice so horrified the ancient Romans that they banned the religion.
The author talks about an "Earth School" (p 91) as if there was evidence of such a thing. And reincarnation. And destiny. He borrows from dozens of belief systems, all of which contradict one another, and ends up with a mushy mess that relies on good feelings to solve all problems.
Aird studied 3700 young people and concluded that New Age and self focused religions may undermine a person's mental health. But of course she was just being judgmental.
- I remember the first time I heard of Gary Zukav. He was on Oprah. For me this was a life changing experience because it started me reviewing. Since then I have read most of Gary Zukav's books, so I was delighted when I found this one. His books have a comforting and compassionate message that is relevant to our daily lives. In this book he deals with issues like forgiveness and how we shouldn't judge other people (discernment is preferable). These are the same lessons Jesus tried to teach the world thousands of years ago. We are still trying to incorporate these lessons into our lives today in order to be more spiritual creatures.
When Jesus taught us to love our enemies did he mean that we can't protect ourselves when we are attacked? In the bible there are many stories of how Israel went to war with various enemies. Gary Zukav sees retaliation as the wrong response so you may or may not agree with his ideas about 9/11. In an ideal world where everyone was spiritually advanced there would never be war and everyone would share their resources. This hasn't happened yet so the ideas in this book are a little ahead of their time.
In "Soul to Soul" Gary Zukav deals with many questions that need to be answered. His main belief still seems to be that we are all at "earth school" in order to learn lessons for soul growth. Some of the questions he answers include:
What is the difference between a personality and a soul?
What is the difference between habit and addiction?
Can visualization and affirmation change Karma?
How does a person know what he was put on earth to do?
What is the difference between a healthy boundary and emotional withdrawal?
Can I remain a Christian and create authentic power?
I liked his ideas about how we can't always become fearless but we can decide how to respond to fear. Most of the thoughts in this book will make you think about life on a deeper level. One of the things he talks about a lot is nonphysical teachers which sound like angels to me. When he discusses the Universe this could also be taken as God or a Divine Presence.
While I agreed with most of the book, two sentences caused me some concern. One was about how it is not possible to do the wrong thing while on earth. Everyone makes mistakes so it is very possible to do the wrong thing. I also don't believe that when you fight evil you join it. Are you not fighting on the side of good? I also wondered if Gary had ever read about near-death experiences because he doesn't mention them when discussing life after death and how humans return to a nonphysical reality. Apparently we will still have bodies after death, at least this is what I've read in regards to near-death experiences. When you go to heaven your relatives are there to greet you so how could they have been reincarnated? Gary also believes in reincarnation so I'm not sure how you go to a nonphysical reality and are also reincarnated at the same time. Perhaps he believes you go to one and then the other. This was a little confusing.
For the most part, I think Gary Zukav is striving for an ideal world in which we all have control over our emotions and everyone is loving and forgiving. "Soul to Soul" presents many pathways for those who want to be spiritually mature. If you are struggling with negative emotions or addictions then this book has much to offer. The main message is that we are souls having a human experience in which we change ourselves (fight negativity and regain control of our emotions) in order to become more spiritual.
~The Rebecca Review
- Very well written and easy to read. Part One: Soul Subjects provides very fresh and new perspectives to look at every day life and to find meaning in even the most routine and taken-for-granted things in life. Part Two: Soul Questions provides direct, wise and spiritual solutions to our everyday challenges. The short passages cover a wide range of spiritual growth subjects and are easy to return to for guidance.
- Wonderful book on how to live as your authentic self - your soul - among other souls inhabiting this earth with you.

5 comments about The Impersonal Life.
- As other reviewers say, if you study this book and meditate with focus on every sentence it will open you to an understanding of Life and of yourself, allowing the inner Peace to unfold an the experience of the One, your Real Self. Priceless. I studied it 3 times in 10 years and the last study brought me to REALLY KNOW that God is everything, that there is only God; my past disappeared, my intellectual search found its conclusion. Fear left me, allowing the release of the future as well ( mainly expectations, including the results of my work which I now leave completely to the Infinite). Life's good after this book does its job. It turns into a life of selfless service, the true Christian path. Fascinating that one of the first channellings would be so potent. It is also the only one attributed directly to God. So do yourself the biggest favor and give this book your all.
- I have lots of books that I have studied on spirituality and was asking for some guidance about a week ago and suddenly found myself choosing this little book stuck up in my closet. I have trouble putting it down. It is so wonderful in the guidance I was seeking. I cannot say enough good about it. It came at a time when I needed it and I have not been the same since. It certainly was an answer to prayer.
- This book is for people who wish to open up their thinking, and subsequently change their material conditions. This is not for people who believe in some literal, anthropomorphic "God." But rather, it uses Xian teachings as a metaphor to reveal universal ideas. This type of material long preceeded titles like "The Secret."It's age-old wisdom. But don't get it if you're a literal-minded Bible thumper who subscribes to a supernaturalist cosmology. It probably isn't for you.
- I was given a copy of The Impersonal Life many years ago, and although I've read scores of spiritual books over the years, I keep coming back to this little book. It answers the "meaning of life" questions that other spiritual books sidestep. It clearly stands above all the rest.
Is is hard on the ego? Maybe. But when you really think about (meditate on) what's said (and not just do a quick read and make a judgment), these are the answers that hold up. Although the language is simple and concise, the meaning and implications run deep.
- I am still only 3/4 of my way through this book. The books i read before this were Ervin Seale's classics on the metaphysical translation of the bible. I am not a 'Christian', but even so they made a lot of sense to me. They also provided a 'soft start' to this brutally honest book.
Why is honesty always described as 'brutal' though...I do wonder at that?!! Perhaps a reflection on our ego-self, that lies to us and makes us soft and weak in our ability to deal with the truth.
Maybe thats why the 'God' described here sounds so uncompromising. This book is all about understanding 'tough love', the kind of love and understanding that really changes you and informs you because it loves you. That does not hold out false promises. You need to be either ready to really liberate yourself or you can go back to the la-la land of a 'sunday - only religion' and business as usual on the rest of the days.
I find it interesting that the 'bible reading christians' are so opposed to this book in the reviews ...in many ways the bible speaks the same truths, or for that matter so does the Quran, Gita or what have you. How deep are we prepared to read in these books? Or do we just use them to further the ego's demands?
Only read this book if you are ready for some in depth introspection with an open mind. it will change your life if you get out of your way. Cannot be measured in terms of star ratings, but i give it the max available here.

2 comments about The EQ Difference: A Powerful Plan for Putting Emotional Intelligence to Work.
- Adele B.Lynn, who helped us find honor, has now given us the platform on which to build honorable leadership: emotional intelligence. Others have written on the subject before, but Lynn gives us practical information, exercises and examples that can be put to use in our relationships at work or at home. No leader should be without this well written, relevant handbook.
- There are many books on emotional intelligence. What makes this book distinct is that it contains a model for developing emotional intelligence.
As much as I have already read on the topic, Adele's self-coaching model has helped me develop a much greater awareness of myself and ways in which I can improve in the development of the competencies associated with emotional intelligence.
This book is absolutely essential reading for people engaged in consulting and management development. I have made this required reading in my work as an executive coach. Her work has had such an impact on me personally that I do not hesitate to ask my clients to read it.

5 comments about Know Yourself: A Woman's Guide to Wholeness, Radiance & Supreme Confidence.
- Make no mistake about it, Know Yourself is one of the best I've ever read because it covers it all. Each stage of life, what's been missing inside ourselves, how to regain what we feel we've somehow lost inside, and the chapter on abuse is right on target. That would only apply if you've been abused and the nagging effects of it can make you feel that you're not worth much at all until you discover you are.
One of my favorite passages comes from page 46 during the written exercise part of the book. It says in quotes:
"The choice of what to put on your list is all yours. No one on this earth can create your life. No one other than you knows exactly what you love, what brings you joy, and what fills your entire being with passion. What you are about to write is the real you that lays beneath should's, societal expectations, cultural attitudes, and what you have been taught that opposes what you feel is true for you. Now, it's writing time to bring the real you to up to the surface on the following pages."
Know Yourself taught me how to turn my attitude about myself around. It did its job and then some. It has been a gift to me that I'm sharing with friends.
- I'm sorry but I found this book extremely unhelpful. It was very disjointed. It wasn't even clear what you were supposed to be writing in the workbook pages. It just seemed like a stream of consciousness of trite phrases like "everything happens for a reason". Maybe it's helpful to people who have never thought beyond their nose for their entire life. I don't know. I couldn't find anything redeeming in the entire thing. I ended up just skimming the second half so maybe there was something redeeming in there.
- In "Know Yourself" Barbara Rose did an outstanding job of bringing insight where I previously had confusion or uncertainty. There is a chapter covering abuse that helped me un-do more hurt from the past than I thought it would, and for that I am grateful.
I wanted to quote directly from the book from page 98 because I feel this can help anyone, which is the purpose of this great book.
"Letting Go of Criticism
Another part of cherishing others is to, with loving compassion, let go of any criticisms made of you; blame the criticisms on illusions the people had at the time; for had they had healthy and pure minds, they would not have taken anything out on you. Instead of blaming them, cherish them for being your teachers--and for teaching you how to feel self-value despite anything they may have said or done.
Do not ever take to heart hurtful comments others make. Do not make them a part of your being. Know yourself and you will know truth.
Know who you are. What you believe in. What feels right and true for you.
If you dream of changing your career because of the passion you feel for a new field, enjoy the process; never let anyone stop you with their illusions of so-called failure or impossibilities.
Nothing is impossible.
I learned this saying: "Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you're right!"
If your heart is pulling you in a certain direction, then this is a part of your truth, and you must honor it.
This is where a solid sense of self comes from. It comes from knowing your truth. You can be sixty-five years old and decide you want to go back to school to become a doctor because you have always really wanted to help people. Go back to school!
Don't ever let chronological age hold you back. Many people, both men and women, have uplifted countless lives and have achieved their greatest self-actualization later in life.
Wisdom is the hallmark of a life lived from the heart, without judgment, and with compassion for all others.
No matter what it is you want to do, do it because it is a true expression of who you are. The joy you will experience by honoring what your heart and soul came into this life for will far outweigh the pain and disappointment you will feel if you don't honor your truth."
There is much more that I can quote from, much more that has helped me.
While doing the written exercises, simply and clearly spelled out in the beginning of the book, I experienced what many people call "A-Ha" moments. Each one brought more about what was holding my back into my awareness, and then following the guidance in the book I was able to un-do the old, and replace it with truth that feels much better!
I read this book twice so far, and am now re-reading it again. It's an excellent book for anyone male or female!
- I purchased this book because a phrase was mentioned in my daily meditation. I was so moved to further my inquizative, hungry mind & soul. I was very excited to receive the book and begin it imediately, as i did. I was not dissapointed as it kept me at my edge. I wanted to read more as i digested all the wonderful, hearty visions and fueling words and messages. This book lead me to my next and then to another and i realized i was on a journey of no return. Thank you both the author for providing me with the resources to feel whole and motivated and complete. :) Penny
- I'm maybe a third of the way through the book and I just had to write a review: this book is absolutely amazing! It had me in tears by the second chapter. It is unbelievable just how wonderfully intricate we are and I commend Ms. Rose for outlining this and gently guiding the reader to shed the negativity and create his/her own dream life.
The key is, it's all WITHIN us and within OUR OWN POWER to make these fundamental changes for the better, which will indubitably improve and enlighten our lives.
Thanks for writing such a meaningful, wonderful book! I will purchase a few more copies for my friends.

5 comments about The Teachings of Abraham Well-Being Cards.
- It's not what you read or how much you read thats important - but being alive and staying on track is healthy for our mind - these inspiration keep me on track and when i talk on the phone to a friend i randomly chose a card which inspires me ... try it for your self ... Thanks Esther and Jerry "again"
- I read all the wonderful reviews, especially the one from Janet, and decided to buy the cards but these cards do not reflect that quality. To me they look like they were done in a rush just to make money. The pictures on them are very cheap and there is nothing uplifting or inspirational about them. There is no booklet that would go with the cards which is a great loss. The text of the cards is sometimes inspirational but usually it is just something we heared already so many times. I so much lack vibrations that would carry you beyond the words you read, something that is always present when writting is channeled. I truly do not understand how Janet Boyer could write what she did about the cards. It is not true. There is nothing uplifting or new about them. Just sentences we know and ugly pictures. The author did not even made an efford to write a booklet for it.
I feel that Janet Boyer must be a beginner in channeled teachings because no one who is familiar with channeled material could not call this a master piece. All these words has been written for so many times. For example "Omni reveals the four principles of creation" from John L. Payne is also a channeled book on the same topic. All the cards feel like copied from this book but without the original energy.
I believed Janet and bought the cards. Me and my clients, we were very disappointed.
- I just sat down and slowly went through the whole deck while listening to meditation music. Card by card, my spirits began to lift. I even found myself smiling and laughing a bit, which is kind of rare for me as I have been incredibly negative in recent years.
I know now that I will use these cards a lot to lift my spirits and assist in my deliberate creation of my reality.
These cards are great, because, after you have listened to and read some of the Abraham material, to the point where you understand all of the basics, then these cards will serve as quick and easy reminders on all of the points that Abraham makes.
If you need your spirits lifted, this will definitely do the trick. And try it with inspirational, instrumental music, such as new age and hearts of space.
- I now know when I'm being to assertive or not assertive enough; when to back off and when to move in. I'm already practicing a lot of the methology and will give it it's 5th star when I'm successful
- My life seemed to be spinning out of control due to medical issues and job issues and on and on. I had read the book, "Ask and It Is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks and loved it. So, I expected no less from these cards. Each day, I randomly select a card and then I keep that card with me throughout the day, referring to it. It has both opened my eyes to what is wonderful in my life, and brought me amazing peace when faced with some obstacles. I believe that the card I get each day is given to me for a reason...and so far the cards are 100% on target. Highly recommend.

5 comments about Forgiveness: The Greatest Healer of All.
- If you are looking for real answers, don't buy this book. It's a feel good read but provides nothing more than a bunch of hot wind. Morever, the style is bland, sleepy, like a ghostwriter did the best he could from notes he took from dictation.
- I keep this little book out where I can see it and the title reminds me to open it and use one of the processes when I am forced to deal with a total jerk. Makes all the difference.
One manager of the complex where I choose to live was so obnoxious and purposeful did irritating things and enforced self made rules so often that we talked of moving or doing some really nasty things to him (like entering his name onto 200 junk mail lists ). Anyhow , with Jampolskys guidance I desensitized this guy - didn't make him into a good human being as I had been attempting with my Christian background but I did come to see that he is a jerk, his job in the world was to jerk people around and I was in his world. No big deal now and he leaves me alone. ( I think this is a symptom of really forgiving someone that they don't continue irritating you ) another good book is "Why Forgiveness?" heavy duty and dramatic you'll need this one for reference if your still dating.
- This is a great gift book or a book to kept handy as it reminds us of all the things we need to keep in mind. The two that wrote this book are always great reading but this is inspirational as well as informational.
Blessings!
- This book says that any thoughts come from one of two emotions: love or fear. If you choose love, you don't experience fear. If you choose fear, you don't experience love. This is very simple, but if you understand it truly, you can change your life.
When you are suffering from something, you can ask to yourself "Will you choose love or fear?". When you can't say "Yes, I choose love", what should you do? This book shows: Use magic. That's forgiveness. This magic is only for you, and only you can use this.
- People who say victims MUST forgive may be laying an additional burden on a person who is struggling to heal by forcing them to feel something they can't, making them responsible for their abuser's rehabilitation (remember that so many victims are told to be quiet to protect their abusers), and marginalizing their suffering. Far too simplistic for a self-help book and may inspire well-meaning people to add more injury to someone who is suffering

- I am excited about Wired That Way! It's full of fresh stories and examples that help illustrate the principles. Having all of the information about the different aspects of The Personalities in one place is going to be an awesome tool!
- As a professional speaker who spends her days empowering others with the skills they need to build better relationships through improved communications, I'm just thrilled that Marita has updated her personality materials into one compelling resource. I've been recommending her books for years, and now "Wired that Way" is sure to become the primary foundational resource I will strongly recommend to everyone who is serious about communicating effectively with others!"
Christy Largent
Motivational Speaker, Trainer, Humorist and Member of NSA
- Marita's new book 'Wired That Way' combines in one place the resources anyone needs to build better relationships and understand oneself. With my business name as 'Word Wardrobe,' I ask the question in my speaking and writing, 'What kind of words do you wear?' Wired That Way provides myriad examples relating how we often hurt people's feelings who have different personalities than our own. Because my emphasis is on words and the response those words bring, I'm excited to share in my Personality Trainings one comprehensive book which meets the needs of everyone. After reading this book, no one will be able to blunder through life slaying people with their words.
Glenda Schoonmaker, Writer, Speaker, Trainer
- Katherine Cook Briggs and daughter Isabel Briggs-Myers, shared an intense curiosity about typology and together they co-created what became the "gold standard" for personality profiling, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. In a remarkably similar fashion, Florence, with husband Fred, began research into the four temperaments, which led to her body of work on the Personalities, paving the way for daughter Marita Littauer to add her own research and insights. Together, sharing forty years of study, they are inarguably, the Myers-Briggs for a new generation.
Now Marita Littauer has written the definitive book (with insights from Florence) about the Personalities under the clever title, Wired That Way. Let me say this plainly - you won't find the Myers-Briggs 16 personality types in this book. What you will find is the latest available information on the four basic types - often attributed to Hippocrates - of Sanguine, Phlegmatic, Melancholy, and Choleric.
Ms. Littauer writes in a conversational style that pulls you through the book, as she dives straight into the heart of practical everyday application. Through the use of story and metaphor, she takes us into the familiar daily-ness of life, and along the way, we suddenly realize we can better understand the strange people at work and the - um - "quirky" behavior of certain family members, as well as those curious individuals in our Bible Study group. In other words, wherever you find people, you will find fertile ground for applying these techniques.
I don't think it will be giving anything away to say that Ms. Littauer concludes her book with a caveat: Don't let the preferences of your personality be an excuse for poor performance or behavior. Rather, focus on using your strengths to overcome your weaknesses. Understand that it's your differences that make you a unique child of God. She notes that throughout the Gospels of the New Testament, the personality of Jesus Christ "contained the strength of all four personalities and the weaknesses of none." Marita's powerful, heartfelt call to action is "to live in your strengths - to be more like Christ."
Buy one book for yourself and send another to a friend - you know - that person who really needs to read it.
- This book has it all! It is an easy read with practical information that can be easily applied to your life. It will help you understand and know how to improve every relationship in your life. It will even help you understand yourself and how you can be a better person. The principles in this book have changed my life for the better, and they can do the same for you.

4 comments about Excuse Me, Your God Is Waiting: Love Your God * Create Your Life * Find Your True Self.
- Michelle helps you to get back in touch with God in a spiritual way. She walks you through all the baggage we have about God and helps strip it away to the essence of God talking directly to you personally. This book is a must read to establish the lost connection to God, and deepen the relationship.
- Many of us have an impersonal relationship with someone else's version of God. Michelle helps us create our own life adventure to find, know and relish the very personal relationship we can have with Our Own God. In return, like any healthy partnership, Our God helps us discover and cherish our True Self.
Michelle opens her life experience about how she was able, with Her God's help, to let go of organized religious systems, symbols and images of the, "...angry male authoritarian God with a long white beard, piercing eyes and a stern face...", who, because of her immense spiritual hunger, wanted her to be a nun. Instead she describes a relevant, vibrant, ever-growing, stretching, expanding relationship with her God who is her devoted teammate - not because of what she does or doesn't do - but because of who Her God is: Love.
With an extensive professional background in business and personal coaching, she weaves brief exercises, questions, and thoughts to ponder throughout the book to help us learn, un-learn, re-learn, and generate A HA! insights to define and create our own lives with Our God.
Caution: This book will gently challenge and nudge away beliefs, images, or systems that are keeping you from your Birthright - a life, a self, and a God of your own. Michelle makes it far too easy for us to do what we crave: To receive love from our God, to learn to love our Selves, and to powerfully create the love we want in our lives.
- For many Christians, God has taken a backseat to their lives, but "Excuse Me, Your God is Waiting" is here to help them fix this spiritual problem and to introduce God into each part of life, be it in solving their problems, celebrating, or just getting through the day and looking towards the next. Promoting a better life and spiritual happiness through a more complete oneness with God, "Excuse Me, Your God is Waiting" is a must for Christian studies collections and for anyone who thinks they can improve their life if their bond with God were greater.
- Michelle has written a remarkable and sorely needed book--a primer for reclaiming your spirituality and forging a truly personal relationship with God. Filled with exercises and reflections, the book provides an illuminating path back to our true natures and our connections with the divine. A must-read for spiritual seekers and anyone who wants to feel more joy, abundance and aliveness!

- Joseph Cardillo offers practical wisdom for everyday living in this brilliantly written book. The format is well-designed ~ with a spiritual saying at the beginning and resolutions at the end of each chapter. It's wonderful finding opportunities to apply his ideas, to `go with the flow' of life ~ to conserve strength and energy ~ to move through life more gently.
- This is one of those books that you can't put down. I'm not a big reader, nor am I big in to martial arts, however the principles in this book really apply to everyday life.
It immediately changed the way I analyze situations. There are many small details that anyone can use to change something if that is something they want to.
I have read this book a few times, mainly looking for something else to apply to life.
- This is another one of those "It does what it says on the label" type books. You'll not want to put it down once you've started.
The book is arranged into many small one to three page chapters about a subject e.g. "Pacing Yourself" or "Identifying Your Priorities", then followed by a page or two on Meditations about how you might achieve what has been discussed then one page of "Resolutions" on suggested promises you should make to yourself to carry out the task at hand.
Written in a nice easy flowing & interesting manner which urges you on to want to just read one more chapter before you put it down.
Although the topics discussed immediately relate to Budo (Martial Arts), all of them can equally be applied to everyday living without little or any adaptation.
- I received it in excellent condition. Maybe the only thing I was disappointed with was not being able to engage in conversation with the previous owner. She thanked me but refused to reply after that. I wanted her opinion and I'm deathly lonely. Was hoping to make a new friend.
