5 comments about Know Yourself: A Woman's Guide to Wholeness, Radiance & Supreme Confidence.
  1. Make no mistake about it, Know Yourself is one of the best I've ever read because it covers it all. Each stage of life, what's been missing inside ourselves, how to regain what we feel we've somehow lost inside, and the chapter on abuse is right on target. That would only apply if you've been abused and the nagging effects of it can make you feel that you're not worth much at all until you discover you are.

One of my favorite passages comes from page 46 during the written exercise part of the book. It says in quotes:
"The choice of what to put on your list is all yours. No one on this earth can create your life. No one other than you knows exactly what you love, what brings you joy, and what fills your entire being with passion. What you are about to write is the real you that lays beneath should's, societal expectations, cultural attitudes, and what you have been taught that opposes what you feel is true for you. Now, it's writing time to bring the real you to up to the surface on the following pages."

Know Yourself taught me how to turn my attitude about myself around. It did its job and then some. It has been a gift to me that I'm sharing with friends.

  2. I'm sorry but I found this book extremely unhelpful. It was very disjointed. It wasn't even clear what you were supposed to be writing in the workbook pages. It just seemed like a stream of consciousness of trite phrases like "everything happens for a reason". Maybe it's helpful to people who have never thought beyond their nose for their entire life. I don't know. I couldn't find anything redeeming in the entire thing. I ended up just skimming the second half so maybe there was something redeeming in there.

  3. In "Know Yourself" Barbara Rose did an outstanding job of bringing insight where I previously had confusion or uncertainty. There is a chapter covering abuse that helped me un-do more hurt from the past than I thought it would, and for that I am grateful.

I wanted to quote directly from the book from page 98 because I feel this can help anyone, which is the purpose of this great book.

    "Letting Go of Criticism
Another part of cherishing others is to, with loving compassion, let go of any criticisms made of you; blame the criticisms on illusions the people had at the time; for had they had healthy and pure minds, they would not have taken anything out on you. Instead of blaming them, cherish them for being your teachers--and for teaching you how to feel self-value despite anything they may have said or done.

Do not ever take to heart hurtful comments others make. Do not make them a part of your being. Know yourself and you will know truth.

Know who you are. What you believe in. What feels right and true for you.
If you dream of changing your career because of the passion you feel for a new field, enjoy the process; never let anyone stop you with their illusions of so-called failure or impossibilities.
    Nothing is impossible.

I learned this saying: "Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you're right!"

If your heart is pulling you in a certain direction, then this is a part of your truth, and you must honor it.

This is where a solid sense of self comes from. It comes from knowing your truth. You can be sixty-five years old and decide you want to go back to school to become a doctor because you have always really wanted to help people. Go back to school!

Don't ever let chronological age hold you back. Many people, both men and women, have uplifted countless lives and have achieved their greatest self-actualization later in life.

Wisdom is the hallmark of a life lived from the heart, without judgment, and with compassion for all others.

No matter what it is you want to do, do it because it is a true expression of who you are. The joy you will experience by honoring what your heart and soul came into this life for will far outweigh the pain and disappointment you will feel if you don't honor your truth."

There is much more that I can quote from, much more that has helped me.

While doing the written exercises, simply and clearly spelled out in the beginning of the book, I experienced what many people call "A-Ha" moments. Each one brought more about what was holding my back into my awareness, and then following the guidance in the book I was able to un-do the old, and replace it with truth that feels much better!

I read this book twice so far, and am now re-reading it again. It's an excellent book for anyone male or female!

  4. I purchased this book because a phrase was mentioned in my daily meditation. I was so moved to further my inquizative, hungry mind & soul. I was very excited to receive the book and begin it imediately, as i did. I was not dissapointed as it kept me at my edge. I wanted to read more as i digested all the wonderful, hearty visions and fueling words and messages. This book lead me to my next and then to another and i realized i was on a journey of no return. Thank you both the author for providing me with the resources to feel whole and motivated and complete. :) Penny

  5. I'm maybe a third of the way through the book and I just had to write a review: this book is absolutely amazing! It had me in tears by the second chapter. It is unbelievable just how wonderfully intricate we are and I commend Ms. Rose for outlining this and gently guiding the reader to shed the negativity and create his/her own dream life.

The key is, it's all WITHIN us and within OUR OWN POWER to make these fundamental changes for the better, which will indubitably improve and enlighten our lives.

Thanks for writing such a meaningful, wonderful book! I will purchase a few more copies for my friends.

5 comments about The Teachings of Abraham Well-Being Cards.
  1. It's not what you read or how much you read thats important - but being alive and staying on track is healthy for our mind - these inspiration keep me on track and when i talk on the phone to a friend i randomly chose a card which inspires me ... try it for your self ... Thanks Esther and Jerry "again"

  2. I read all the wonderful reviews, especially the one from Janet, and decided to buy the cards but these cards do not reflect that quality. To me they look like they were done in a rush just to make money. The pictures on them are very cheap and there is nothing uplifting or inspirational about them. There is no booklet that would go with the cards which is a great loss. The text of the cards is sometimes inspirational but usually it is just something we heared already so many times. I so much lack vibrations that would carry you beyond the words you read, something that is always present when writting is channeled. I truly do not understand how Janet Boyer could write what she did about the cards. It is not true. There is nothing uplifting or new about them. Just sentences we know and ugly pictures. The author did not even made an efford to write a booklet for it.

I feel that Janet Boyer must be a beginner in channeled teachings because no one who is familiar with channeled material could not call this a master piece. All these words has been written for so many times. For example "Omni reveals the four principles of creation" from John L. Payne is also a channeled book on the same topic. All the cards feel like copied from this book but without the original energy.

I believed Janet and bought the cards. Me and my clients, we were very disappointed.

  3. I just sat down and slowly went through the whole deck while listening to meditation music. Card by card, my spirits began to lift. I even found myself smiling and laughing a bit, which is kind of rare for me as I have been incredibly negative in recent years.

I know now that I will use these cards a lot to lift my spirits and assist in my deliberate creation of my reality.

These cards are great, because, after you have listened to and read some of the Abraham material, to the point where you understand all of the basics, then these cards will serve as quick and easy reminders on all of the points that Abraham makes.

If you need your spirits lifted, this will definitely do the trick. And try it with inspirational, instrumental music, such as new age and hearts of space.

  4. I now know when I'm being to assertive or not assertive enough; when to back off and when to move in. I'm already practicing a lot of the methology and will give it it's 5th star when I'm successful

  5. My life seemed to be spinning out of control due to medical issues and job issues and on and on. I had read the book, "Ask and It Is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks and loved it. So, I expected no less from these cards. Each day, I randomly select a card and then I keep that card with me throughout the day, referring to it. It has both opened my eyes to what is wonderful in my life, and brought me amazing peace when faced with some obstacles. I believe that the card I get each day is given to me for a reason...and so far the cards are 100% on target. Highly recommend.

5 comments about Forgiveness: The Greatest Healer of All.
  1. If you are looking for real answers, don't buy this book. It's a feel good read but provides nothing more than a bunch of hot wind. Morever, the style is bland, sleepy, like a ghostwriter did the best he could from notes he took from dictation.

  2. I keep this little book out where I can see it and the title reminds me to open it and use one of the processes when I am forced to deal with a total jerk. Makes all the difference.
One manager of the complex where I choose to live was so obnoxious and purposeful did irritating things and enforced self made rules so often that we talked of moving or doing some really nasty things to him (like entering his name onto 200 junk mail lists ). Anyhow , with Jampolskys guidance I desensitized this guy - didn't make him into a good human being as I had been attempting with my Christian background but I did come to see that he is a jerk, his job in the world was to jerk people around and I was in his world. No big deal now and he leaves me alone.
( I think this is a symptom of really forgiving someone that they don't continue irritating you ) another good book is "Why Forgiveness?" heavy duty and dramatic you'll need this one for reference if your still dating.

  3. This is a great gift book or a book to kept handy as it reminds us of all the things we need to keep in mind. The two that wrote this book are always great reading but this is inspirational as well as informational.
    Blessings!

  4. This book says that any thoughts come from one of two emotions: love or fear. If you choose love, you don't experience fear. If you choose fear, you don't experience love. This is very simple, but if you understand it truly, you can change your life.

When you are suffering from something, you can ask to yourself "Will you choose love or fear?". When you can't say "Yes, I choose love", what should you do? This book shows: Use magic. That's forgiveness. This magic is only for you, and only you can use this.

  5. People who say victims MUST forgive may be laying an additional burden on a person who is struggling to heal by forcing them to feel something they can't, making them responsible for their abuser's rehabilitation (remember that so many victims are told to be quiet to protect their abusers), and marginalizing their suffering. Far too simplistic for a self-help book and may inspire well-meaning people to add more injury to someone who is suffering

  1. I am excited about Wired That Way! It's full of fresh stories and examples that help illustrate the principles. Having all of the information about the different aspects of The Personalities in one place is going to be an awesome tool!

  2. As a professional speaker who spends her days empowering others with the skills they need to build better relationships through improved communications, I'm just thrilled that Marita has updated her personality materials into one compelling resource. I've been recommending her books for years, and now "Wired that Way" is sure to become the primary foundational resource I will strongly recommend to everyone who is serious about communicating effectively with others!"
    Christy Largent
Motivational Speaker, Trainer, Humorist and Member of NSA

  3. Marita's new book 'Wired That Way' combines in one place the resources anyone needs to build better relationships and understand oneself. With my business name as 'Word Wardrobe,' I ask the question in my speaking and writing, 'What kind of words do you wear?' Wired That Way provides myriad examples relating how we often hurt people's feelings who have different personalities than our own. Because my emphasis is on words and the response those words bring, I'm excited to share in my Personality Trainings one comprehensive book which meets the needs of everyone. After reading this book, no one will be able to blunder through life slaying people with their words.
    Glenda Schoonmaker, Writer, Speaker, Trainer

  4. Katherine Cook Briggs and daughter Isabel Briggs-Myers, shared an intense curiosity about typology and together they co-created what became the "gold standard" for personality profiling, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. In a remarkably similar fashion, Florence, with husband Fred, began research into the four temperaments, which led to her body of work on the Personalities, paving the way for daughter Marita Littauer to add her own research and insights. Together, sharing forty years of study, they are inarguably, the Myers-Briggs for a new generation.

Now Marita Littauer has written the definitive book (with insights from Florence) about the Personalities under the clever title, Wired That Way. Let me say this plainly - you won't find the Myers-Briggs 16 personality types in this book. What you will find is the latest available information on the four basic types - often attributed to Hippocrates - of Sanguine, Phlegmatic, Melancholy, and Choleric.

Ms. Littauer writes in a conversational style that pulls you through the book, as she dives straight into the heart of practical everyday application. Through the use of story and metaphor, she takes us into the familiar daily-ness of life, and along the way, we suddenly realize we can better understand the strange people at work and the - um - "quirky" behavior of certain family members, as well as those curious individuals in our Bible Study group. In other words, wherever you find people, you will find fertile ground for applying these techniques.

I don't think it will be giving anything away to say that Ms. Littauer concludes her book with a caveat: Don't let the preferences of your personality be an excuse for poor performance or behavior. Rather, focus on using your strengths to overcome your weaknesses. Understand that it's your differences that make you a unique child of God. She notes that throughout the Gospels of the New Testament, the personality of Jesus Christ "contained the strength of all four personalities and the weaknesses of none." Marita's powerful, heartfelt call to action is "to live in your strengths - to be more like Christ."

Buy one book for yourself and send another to a friend - you know - that person who really needs to read it.

  5. This book has it all! It is an easy read with practical information that can be easily applied to your life. It will help you understand and know how to improve every relationship in your life. It will even help you understand yourself and how you can be a better person. The principles in this book have changed my life for the better, and they can do the same for you.

4 comments about Excuse Me, Your God Is Waiting: Love Your God * Create Your Life * Find Your True Self.
  1. Michelle helps you to get back in touch with God in a spiritual way. She walks you through all the baggage we have about God and helps strip it away to the essence of God talking directly to you personally. This book is a must read to establish the lost connection to God, and deepen the relationship.

  2. Many of us have an impersonal relationship with someone else's version of God. Michelle helps us create our own life adventure to find, know and relish the very personal relationship we can have with Our Own God. In return, like any healthy partnership, Our God helps us discover and cherish our True Self.

Michelle opens her life experience about how she was able, with Her God's help, to let go of organized religious systems, symbols and images of the, "...angry male authoritarian God with a long white beard, piercing eyes and a stern face...", who, because of her immense spiritual hunger, wanted her to be a nun. Instead she describes a relevant, vibrant, ever-growing, stretching, expanding relationship with her God who is her devoted teammate - not because of what she does or doesn't do - but because of who Her God is: Love.

With an extensive professional background in business and personal coaching, she weaves brief exercises, questions, and thoughts to ponder throughout the book to help us learn, un-learn, re-learn, and generate A HA! insights to define and create our own lives with Our God.

Caution: This book will gently challenge and nudge away beliefs, images, or systems that are keeping you from your Birthright - a life, a self, and a God of your own. Michelle makes it far too easy for us to do what we crave: To receive love from our God, to learn to love our Selves, and to powerfully create the love we want in our lives.

  3. For many Christians, God has taken a backseat to their lives, but "Excuse Me, Your God is Waiting" is here to help them fix this spiritual problem and to introduce God into each part of life, be it in solving their problems, celebrating, or just getting through the day and looking towards the next. Promoting a better life and spiritual happiness through a more complete oneness with God, "Excuse Me, Your God is Waiting" is a must for Christian studies collections and for anyone who thinks they can improve their life if their bond with God were greater.

  4. Michelle has written a remarkable and sorely needed book--a primer for reclaiming your spirituality and forging a truly personal relationship with God. Filled with exercises and reflections, the book provides an illuminating path back to our true natures and our connections with the divine. A must-read for spiritual seekers and anyone who wants to feel more joy, abundance and aliveness!

5 comments about The Complete Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn for Women: Her Ageless Wisdom for Today.
  1. After reading many self help books, this one made a difference in my life. I believe it IS mainstream Christianity, not fundamentalism, however. My God loves homosexuals and everyone else. If you cannot accept differences in others or insist on judging others, this book is not for you. It is all about love, acceptance, and appreciating. This makes a better life for the reader.

  2. I've read many great books on Law of Attraction, but this one explains how to create a life that you love better than any that I've read. This book is a gift to anyone who believes in Law of Attraction and wants to be able to do it for themselves.

  3. Compared to other self-improvement authors and materials on the market, this book had had the most impact on my life! It was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so grateful that she told me about it. It gives great wisdom and practical instruction as well as encouragement to remove negatives from our lives and assurance that we can change our lives through right thoughts, feelings, attitudes, action, and words! Is it time for change in your life? Then you owe it to yourself to get this book now!

  4. Great Affirmations and an understanding of our connection to the Divine; and how to utilize the beliefs of the time, to get an idea across. Very astute and enlightened; and to think she wrote and spoke about this before 1906 before women could vote and when they had few legal rights.

  5. I was introduced to the Shinn books by a good friend. That friend is gone but I still have my books, Ha! I cannot praise her books enough. Like another reviewer said, these books are Christian based but she does have some Eastern philosophy sprinkled throughout that creates a nice balance. Combined with the Abraham/Esther and Jerry Hicks books, Florence Scovel Shinn books pack a powerful POSITIVE punch. Her books will lift your spirit in your darkest moments.

  1. I had originally glanced at this book at my local bookstore and was captivated by the collection of touching short essays in it. I love this book! I hope she publishes more like this.

  2. Sue Monk Kidd's work continues to delight. Her short, honest, writings show her to be attentive to the moment as well as to the world around her. This book would be a start to a group discussion for people seeking to live mindful, but interactive, lives. She enjoys the spiritual life of monks without having taken their vows. Readers will gain much from this collection of essays and observations.

3 comments about Don't Sweat the Small Stuff Workbook, The: Exercises, Questions, and Self-Tests to Help You Keep the Little Things From Taking Over Your Life.
  1. As a student of Buddhism, I found much of the content in this book to be diluted Buddhism. Basically, it's Buddhist teachings without the Buddhism in it. I'm sure it helps many people, but for me it was diappointing - lacking in depth and substance.

  2. It really is a "WORK" book. It takes alot of thinking and quiet time to answer the questions and to go back and analyze what you have written down. Too much work for me. I guess this book would be good for someone who has alot of extra time on their hands to ponder their life. I do not have that time.

  3. By Richard Carlson, PH.D (printed in the United States. Published by Hyperion, 77 W. 66th Street, New York, New York 10023-6298 (previously published as `Don't Worry, Make Money').

This book is a non-fictional, self help/motivational book.
The main theme of the book is how to live a life that is more productive, wealthy and carefree. It consists of one hundred short chapters, each with its' own philosophy like `Be willing to change' or `Remind yourself that your life isn't your enemy, but your thinking can be'.
Richard Carlson has created a whole series of "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" books. When you read one, continue and read them all, they all go hand in hand. He is a frequent guest on many National Television and Radio programs. He lectures many enthusiastic audiences, both in the United States and Internationally. Recently, he was featured on PBS in a special about his don't sweat philosophy. He has paired up with his wife Kristine Karlson to write `Don't Sweat the Small Stuff in Love'. What a great idea!
"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff About Money" covers everything from getting rid of fear, anger and stress revolving around budgeting, by providing practical solutions. In these one-hundred short chapters, Richard Carlson motivates his audience with his own philosophies on life and money combined.
The "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" series of books all have a philosophy with each chapter. I find it motivating to learn different strategies on how to deal with life and financial problems. I can really appreciate constructive criticism, and there's lots in this book and all of Richard Carlsons' other don't sweat books. My favorite chapter in the book was "Give, Give, Give". In this chapter he states that "giving is its' own reward". I am a firm believer in giving whenever and whatever possible. I believe this is the only way things will come back your way. Overall, I would say the book was instructive, memorable and inspiring.
The book greatly affected the way I budget my money, and the way I deal with not having a lot. He taught me that you don't have to be rich to live an abundant life.
I would certainly recommend this book to any college/university student, as most of us are struggling to get by! It enlightens you as you read, as it helps to know you are not alone in the money struggle. Great book!

  1. i first picked up this book as a cynical, walled-off teenager and hated it! my first impression was "oh, cute. a sugary, doodle-y book by yet another free-spirit hippie telling us to be true to our selves and have fun and give hugs." yeah, i know. harsh. >_<

a few years later i'd softened out a little and had some of my bitterness disolved. i re-read "living juicy" and realized how much i'd been missing out on. this little, quirky, nifty book is not trying to prove anything- but it does show the way to living from the outside in. loving ourselves and bringing that love outside into the world. as a jaded, self-hating teen, i think that message was a very tough one to embrace. SARK asks us to look at ourselves, listen to our hearts, and live spontaneously with deep creativity and love. what i first mistook for flippancy and silliness is now seen as a profound, compassionate, disarmingly simple series of messages from an artistic angel and very cool woman!

i'm sorry i didn't mellow out and re-discover this book sooner. SARK brings the kid in us out to play, cry, read, shout, rage, love, meditate, walk, chat, and nap. and with the emotional spontaneity and straight-forward wisdom of a kid, she invites us to live juicy.

  2. I saw this book first time in my friend's place, and I like it just by viewing the cover and the scrambled handwritings! So I asked my aunt to search for me a copy of this book because it is not available yet in my city.

My first impression of this book is that this IS a real Daily Bread. Daily Bread is a short Christian spiritual reflection in day-to-day basis. So does this book, but the content is not any Christian stuffs but life's stuffs. The books uses colors and pictures, and the text is formed in a short passage, makes it interesting and easier to be read (especially for first SARK reader!). Yet, the power that it has will amaze you...

SARK is simply asking you to join a world of joy, filled with wonder and beautiful things that may be passed unnoticed in daily life. This book will takes you to travel inside and outside of your world, expand your view, and fill your new view with amazing scenes of life...

  3. this is a day by day book of inspiration to live life to the fullest and to be a voracious reader...includes "coupons" that give you permission to enjoy your daily life. thanks sark!

  4. This is a day by day inspirational reader with information to help you be more creative and by the end of the year doing some different things you may not have thought of before. If you have ever enjoyed Sark's calendars or books before you will surely like this one. Highly recommended.

  5. this is a collection of daily meditations for self improvement and self esteem. very cute and simple.
