- This book tought to me a lot about me and the other people
- In this book, Wayne W. Dyer teach us many things in order for us to improve in our relationships. It's one of the best self-help books I have ever read. It shows you how to deal with yourself without caring about others. It shows you the importance of living life at its best and value every minute of our life. Dyer teach us how to say 'NO' to those bad habits we have and think different about life. With a simple language, so everyone can read it, Dyer makes you think carefully about your life and will definitely help you improve. This book was recommended to me by my psycologist and I never regret having read it. Now it's up to you ;)
- I do not have any comments about this book yet, but for sure is really helpful. I still reading it and since the beginning I start to enjoy it.

- this is a really awesome book! it has the cutest sayings about life and the ideal book to read when you're having a bad day or just need a lift. most of the sayings are true and from people of all ages, which is why it caught my attention. i had originally got this book browsing in a library on my college's campus and checked it out, not knowing what to expect. it has sayings in it like "if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got" by a 51 year old; and that "even though its hard to admit, i'm secretly glad when my parents are strict with me" by a 15 year old, and that "a mule dressed in a tuxedo is still a mule" by a 70 year old and that "being a success at the office is not worth it if it means being a failure at home" by a 51 year old. after reading these passages, i'm positive that the average reader can look through the passages and find a lot that can and does relate to his or her life.
- H. Jackson Brown's work is a masterpiece!
To read his books simply makes you think and puts a smile on your face. Thank you Mr. Brown.
- A division by topic would make reading this book more fun and more useful. I also got tired of each line starting: "I'm learned that..." It would be more entertaining if the sentences were a little less structured. Some of the quotes seemed forced into this form.
- There is the element of the cutesy- wootsy stuff that tries to entertain and falls flat, but by and large this collection centering on what people have learned in their lives(Ages five to ninety - five) contains a lot of solid wisdom .It also contains a vast number of sayings which give us pause, make us think, demand that we qualify and contradict.
A small work based on a good idea. (I will give a few of the sayings that may sound awkward as I am translating them back into English from the Hebrew edition of the book.)
" I learned that there is no subject you cannot teach yourself through reading"
"I learned that you can learn a lot about a man from the degree of happiness his wife has, and the degree of respect his children have for him.
I learned that to love and to be loved is the greatest delight in life.
I learned that generous people rarely suffer from emotional problems.
I learned that if you made an appointment for a doctor at eight in the morning you will still have to wait an hour.
I learned that what my grandmother said is correct: As one gets older time seems to go by much more fast.
- I bought this due to a description of using this for a lesson plan. The little one-liners were not particulary inspiring for me, so probably would be unlikely to do anything for my students.
My lesson learned, money spent.

2 comments about Chicken Soup for the Single Parent's Soul: Stories of Hope, Healing and Humor (Chicken Soup for the Soul).
- I thought the "Chicken Soup for the Single Parent's Soul" would be more for single moms, but was really surprised to find it a great book for single dads too. As a newly divorced single dad with six children, I need all the inspiration I can get - and this book has it! Some of the stories were real heart-tuggers, others made me smile and feel good, and some just made me laugh. All in all, whether you're a single mother or single father, this book is a terrifc read, especially for those times when you're really overwhelmed...as single parents, that can be quite often!
- Finally! I don't know what took so long, but it's about time Chicken Soup did a book for Single Parents! Chicken Soup for the SINGLE PARENT'S Soul is an awesome book, and one of the best Chicken Soup books yet. I especially love the stories "I Love You Daddy," "Divine Order," and "Small Moments." There is also one from a boy who is autistic called "Forgiving My Dad" that is really beautiful. I bought the book for myself (I'm a single mom of three) and bought it for two of my single parent friends. It is a great way to say "I believe in you" and "you're going to make it."

5 comments about Radical Simplicity.
- I got introduced to Dan Price's philosophies and literature through Danny Gregory.
What makes it interesting for me is that Dan doesn't hold back on any of his thoughts, mistakes, challenges or discoveries. He serves it up on his unsilvered platter with some sprinkles of drawings and seems to say "Here it is, this is what was running through my mind, this is why I did it, and if you want to try some of it yourself, give it a shot!"
This isn't like 99 Ways To Lead A Simple Life nor is it (exactly) a how-to manual, though he does show how he simplied some areas of his life including where he lays his head down at night.
For me, (understanding it won't be the same for others) this runs in my personal library with Blue Highways, Walden and The Whole Earth Catalog.
Is it 'exactly' any of those? No, it is Dan's personal account. His trials and tribulations, his satisfactions and alot of thoughtful pieces to munch on at night, on a trip, on a Friday when you feel like you've had it with your work world and want to do something different.
No disappointments in this book as was for another reader. I approached it with no expectations; only with the same Open Mind that Dan Price has asked of anyone who reads it.
Buy it for the different journey you want to take in your life. Buy it for the thoughts that might help you decide. Buy it for the inspiration to inscribe and draw your own journal.
- Reading this book was truly an uplifting experience for me. When the thing to do in this culture seems to be to sell the hours of your life at a job that you hate, this book shows us that you can survive and still keep your hours too.
- Dan Price sounds like the kind of guy I'd like to have beer or who might make a fun neighbor, especially if you're a twelve year-old, but his book offers very little in the way of adult inspiration or creative vision. It fails to insight possibility beyond the mundane and too often dregs up self-indulgence and petty distraction. There is a huge difference between bold simplicity and creative aimlessness. This book dwells in the latter. If you want a 15 minute distraction, this book is nice. If you're wanting inspiration toward a life that is radically authentic and enriches your soul and those around you, start your search somewhere else and save your money.
- I was required to read this book for school. Our entire class agrees : Dan Price is a flake who has no concept of simplicity. If everyone is the world lived as he did we'd be extinct by now. He abandoned his wife and kids because he couldn't hack it in civilized society. He claims to only need 80 sq ft of living space, yet he sprawls over 5 acres with a tipi, a sauna, and a studio to house his copy machine. The whole thing is wired for electricity and when he tires of a structure, instead of reusing the materials, he burns it. Very eco-friendly. He mis-quotes Zen philosophy, and has the audacity to compare himself to Thoreau. If you are seeking simplicity and balance in your life LOOK ELSEWHERE!
- I often read Amazon reviews before I read a book. I also like to go back and re-read them after I've finished a book to compare other reviewers' thoughts with my own - sort of a low-end book club, I guess. Besides, the 1 star and 2 star reviews for books are just plain fun(ny) to read sometimes. I have to agree some with both the reviewers that liked the book and with those who didn't.
Many people will appreciate how Dan has chosen to live and many will no doubt have problems with the way he has decided to live separately from his family. Very few will be able to or want to duplicate his lifestyle, however, and there I think is the most valid criticism of the book. This book is not a practical recipe for living simply; but then the book is titled "Radical Simplicity," so I don't think it was intended to be.
This book is an autobiography of a man who has chosen to live a life very different than most people. On that basis I very much enjoyed the book.

3 comments about The Procrastination Workbook: Your Personalized Program for Breaking Free from the Patterns That Hold You Back.
- In page after page I find myself gasping as William Knaus explains the different ways I have developed to procrastinate my life away. Knaus describes procrastination as a complex mixture of discomfort, self-doubts, perfectionism, fear of failure, anxiety, rebellion and depression developed over a lifetime. He explains how heaping blame on yourself only drives you to procrastinate more and he has created thought questions to help you develop the skills you need to pause, resist, reflect and respond.
A life changing weapon against the graveyard of missed opportunities, I highly recommend it!
- Since there are only two reviews (well just one, really) I thought I should give my perspective to fill the picture out a bit. Remember, this is just my personal view.
I take it that the author is strongly influenced by Albert Ellis's REBT system. I don't know very much about it, but I would also guess that if you like Ellis' work, you'll probably enjoy Knaus' as well. I on the other hand was turned off by the way the author presents his ideas. He seems to use complicated lingo--not always clinical, but usually obscure--to say things that could be expressed more clearly. For instance, towards the beginning we find that we'll diminish procrastination through "self regulation training". "Self efficacy is the belief that you have the power to organize, regulate, and direct your actions to achieve mastery. With high self efficacy, you'll predictably procrastinate less. With low self efficacy, you are likely to procrastinate more. Among the self regulation methods, the PURRRR acronym describes a six step--pause, utilize, reflect, reason, respond, and revise--process to keep your 'do it now' engine purring." And it goes on like that. While I don't disagree with what he says, I find that his writing style gets very little across. But I quoted him so that you can form your own opinion. No matter how challenging this affliction can be for someone who is a confirmed procrastinator, dealing with it is not rocket science, and there's no need to obscure the matter.
- Just reading the excerpt I spotted a mistake. Who edits books nowadays? The word procrastinate comes from Latin: pro - for or toward / cras - tomorrow / tinere to hold, hold off.

5 comments about Not Now I'm Having A No Hair Day.
- I married the author, not least of all because I told her just after I proposed that "I love your view of life."
She's taken death head on and turned it into life; she's found joy in sorrow and opportunity in adversity. If all you pick up from reading this book is that, it's a five--how can it not be?
Here's to someone who did more than survive; she saw how rich and meaningful life is, and how much there is that we can laugh at every day.
- This is not a cute, funny book about the visicitudes of cancer, its treatment and aftermath. Instead, it is a shallow exposition of one person's experiencing the meaninglessness of life in the face of a premature death.
The author, who claims to have a master's degree in theology, feels that there is no point in living life to the fullest in the face of her cancer diagnosis. Instead, she retreats to an existance in front of the television and immerses herself in the trivia of TV Guide's crossword puzzles. Her cynicism cuts her off from any possibilty of even attempting spiritual growth. The book is one, long cry of existential angst.
I am writing this review as a warning to any cancer patients who are looking for some humor or a lightening of spirit with respect to their condition. While, as a cancer survivor myself, I was able to identify with some of her experiences and insights, as a whole I found the tone of the book extremely negative and the outlook hopeless. This is not my experience with my cancer, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.
There are no answers, here, only questions that I doubt anybody in the author's position needs reminding of. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
- It was quite boring, wasn't very funny. The best part of the book was when her husband told her, when her hair fell out, well it's more to kiss... wonder if that really happened, but it looked good on paper... anyway.. for fun Look into Jeff Dunham for laughs!
- My wife has brain cancer and asked that I find a couple of books for her written by survivors of any type of cancer. Though I purchased several for her, this one seemed to be able to make her laugh - truly laugh - for the first time in 6 months.
- Great book. Sometimes you just need to laugh when you're going through treatment and feel terrible!!
