1 comments about Beyond The Razor's Edge: Journey of Healing and Hope Beyond Self Injury.
- The biggest problem with this book is that all the stories, are about people who went through the SAFE program, so they are all pretty much the same, I went to SAFE and that solved my problems. Sort of like an advertisement for SAFE alternatives really. There are numerous ways to overcome self injury, this would have been a good book had it included people's stories who overcame self injury with dbt, meds, individual counseling and things like that. If someone is interested in the SAFE alternatives program this book could be good for them, if not then it isn't a good choice.

3 comments about Going the Extra Smile: Discovering the Life-Changing Power of a Positive Outlook.
- This is a wonderful little book to read through and keep handy. The author gives personal examples and lessons in teaching how staying positive can change one's life for the better. Whether you're really down, just need an attitude tune-up, or are already a positive soul, this is interesting and essential reading for everyone.
- This book is very basic, but it really gives you a positive outlook on life. If you put a smile on your face, in spite of obstacles, you will be surprised how many people respond positively to you. Smiling also lets you release demons and change your outlook, even in the face of disaster. I know this because I tried it. I no longer find it acceptable to go through tough days with a scowl on my face. This tactic works particularly well with negative people who try to bring you down. Give them a big smile and watch them look puzzled and retreat. Thanks George!!!

Author & Book Views On A Healthy Life!
Book Review: Going The Extra Smile: Discovering the Life-Changing Power of a Positive Outlook by George Foreman
Known today for his incredible warm smile, George Foreman--two-time Heavyweight Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist, and Author--used to be the man admirers were fearful to approach. Prior to Mr. Foreman's life-changing spiritual experience, his goal had been to be the meanest person who could be found. Today he extols the benefits of smiling. The smile Mr. Foreman says helps create:
An attitude of faith
A life-changing attitude
A caring attitude
A positive attitude
A grateful attitude
An overcoming attitude
An attractive attitude
An encouraging attitude
A resilient attitude
A fun-loving attitude
An expectant attitude
A generous attitude
A winning attitude
A forgiving attitude
A joyful attitude
In the George Foreman's early days, he learned to have a cool attitude from other athletic professionals before him; fans could be heard whispering,
"Look over there. That's George Foreman. Why don't you go over and ask for his autograph?"
"No, not me. You go first."
George Foreman writes in Going The Extra Smile, that the whisperers never did come over. "They'd see the scowl on my face and be afraid of what I might say or do." When he was a younger man, George Foreman boxed with hate in his heart, as if his opponents were "animals to be hunted." This included Muhammad Ali. After his spiritual awakening, George changed his attitude and his life--he and Muhammad Ali are close now. Later in his life, returning to a second boxing career, Mr. Foreman says he needed to learn how to box without hate. In his youth center in Texas, he teaches that boxing is a honorable sport and a boxer doesn't need to be a killer.
A survey conducted by Harris Interactive shows that almost half of Americans prefer a wide, toothy smile over a grin, a close-mouthed smile, or a smirk, and it's more important that teeth be white rather than straight. The smile often leads to a laugh. George Foreman says that for ten years he went without a television in his home. Then his lovely wife purchased a big-screen TV and one thing led to another--funny shows that make George laugh!
Recently, genetic researchers in Japan have been studying laughter, genes, and the effects of comedians on patients. They found that the blood glucose levels in diabetics decreased after laughing at stand-up comics.
Today, Mr. Foreman states that he chooses to smile. Fans adore him, admirers approach him, and most of all, he realizes that what draws others to him is not the fact that he's George Foreman, but rather, his smile. At times, when sorrow, depression, sickness, and death surround us, it is truly difficult to put on a happy face. But the smile is where the change begins.
Smile! It makes a difference in who you are, how you see the world, and how the world sees you.--George Foreman

5 comments about Dateworthy.
- It's a new me for the new year, and Dennie Hughes is the reason why. I'm a freelance stylist, so I travel for work, and I seem to have an endless amount of gay guy friends (who I love) but no boyfriend. After reading Dateworthy, I realized I might be just a touch of a Diva.(Yes, I admit it!) I'm going to take Dennie's advice, take February off from serial dating, and in March take a fresh look at things... This book is perfect for girls willing to take an honest look at themselves and the men they are attracted to!
- I loved this book and I loved that Ms. Hughes didn't just write about this from an analyst side-line point of view. She was really in those dating trenches and all the advice works from a real life perspective. The quizzes make you think. The relationtips alone are worth the price of the book. And the dating stories were must-see-TV worthy. With all the post-it notes I have stuck in it, it has literally become my constant dating reference book. Buy this book and be prepared to share it with your friends.
- "Dateworthy" is a MUST READ for the dateweary. Dennie Hughes takes lessons learned from her own dating experiences and incorporates years of know-how as a relationship or should I say "relationtip" columnist for the USA Weekend to offer good solid dating advice that works. However, if you are on your way out the door for your next date attempt, this is not for you. "Dateworthy" requires thought before practice. This book is ideal for women reevaluating current situations or starting from scratch. The adventurous need not read. My favorite subject matter is the reality check for the "Fractured Fairy Tales" where Ms. Hughes reviews the so-called myths taught to women from childhood about love and marriage.
- Dateworthy (datwûr'the): adj. Fit to be dated; An individual who is worth your time and attention.
Every single person as well as everyone who is currently in a relationship should read this book. Dennie expertly guides you through the process understanding that if you want to meet someone dateworthy you have to be dateworthy yourself. Then by examining past tendencies as well as understanding what you should be looking for you can find someone who is truly dateworthy.
Bottom Line: This is the book you want to read if you are ready to find the "right" person aka someone who is "Dateworthy".
- I bought this book after reading all of the positive reviews. It's unique in that instead of focusing on how to understand what really goes on in men's heads, it helps the reader focus on what she may be doing wrong in her dating experiences. (Basically, the common element in all of your relationships is YOU, so perhaps you're the problem...she has a nicer way of saying it...) Her categories of different types of women are quite insightful, and I was pleased to discover some unique ideas that provided good perspective. Instead of being a PhD and offering philosophical mumbo-jumbo, this person was writing from real-life experiences that rung true. It reminded me a bit of the book "If I'm So Wonderful, Why Am I Still Single?" It's good that it's empowering, rather than having a victim mentality. A good read.

5 comments about The Whisper in Your Heart.
- This book has been a life changing experience. That little voice that has spoken to all of us from time to time, that may have saved our lives or helped in important decisions, is always with us. This book allows us to tap into that inner voice, and the results are astounding.
- How often is it that we search for aid to improve our situations. Too frequently time and money is wasted on the quick fix. We get too busy to seek out solutions that exist within ourselves. We exhaust our efforts and agree to give up the fight. I have found more honsety and explanation from the great works of Stephen Scalese, to increase knowledge about myself. Listening to the whisper in my heart has led me to great opportunities I may have been to preoccupied to recognize. I would also like to extend thanks to Mr. Scalese.
- This book is a precious gem that will guide you to discover your real power within. I am greatly interested in discovering and unleashing the powers of subconscious mind and applying it in real life. The changes in my life that are already happening are exciting and promising. I already was able to get rid of long lasting and terribly disturbing stomach indigestion problem (about 6+ yrs old). None of traditional or chinese doctors were able to help, until i read these books and healed myself! It took me about 1 month. Besides that many different good things started to happen in my life and it always making me wonder "are they just a coincidents or the results of wisdom i am applying from these books?". I already making plans and working on to improve my life in all other aspects. Another book, that i am refering to is: "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy. Definitely get this Murphy's book. "The Whisper in your heart" takes an interesting approach to develop intuition, unleash the hidden powers you never suspected you had and explains how to talk to your subconscious mind in more "interactive" way. "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" and "The Whisper in your heart" are nicely complement each other and are definitely classics and full of invaluable information on the subject.
- I read Stephen's book in July and have heard more than a few "whispers" over the past few months. I was involved in TM (Transendental Meditation) back in the 70's, but got out of the habit of meditating after a couple of years. The Whisper in Your Heart brought back all the positive aspects of TM without the negatives that caused me to quit before.
By tapping into that special part of my being, my inner voice, I've found answers to several questions that had been plaguing me for some time. I've also reduced my stress level and achieved a sense of calm I hadn't felt for years. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone. All can benefit from its simple road map to inner peace and better decision making.
- On Aug 10, 2005 I was diagnosed with adult ADD and dyslexia. For over 55 years I did not know what my new opportunity was inside MySELF. This is the first book I read cover to cover in many many years. I took notes, read slowly but finished the book in less than a week, and tried to comprehend what Mr. Scalese had written. I even cried a few times reading this "How to help MySELF" book. The name for my guarding angel is MySELF. So today, I can be three persons in one whole.... Me, MySELF, and I
No need for me to slow down, just Calm Down.
I saw my third eye without self-hypnosis Tish (my word to relax) will help me for the rest of my life, as I am known today.
