5 comments about Personal Balanced Scorecard: The Way to Individual Happiness, Personal Integrity, and Organizational Effectiveness (PB).
- Personal Balanced Scorecard is an outstanding contribution to the field of
self- mastery and personal transformation. Written from a pragmatic
viewpoint, this book is likely to help set your agenda for a radical shift
from systems-driven change to selfled change. I often ask, if livelihood is
for life, what is life for? Dr. Hubert Rampersad's work explores that
question deeply and comes up with startling answers. ---Professor Debashis
Chatterjee, Head, Centre for Leadership and Human Values, Indian Institute
of Management, Lucknow, India and author of Leading Consciously.
- In the world of organizational development and organizational change, many
theorists have provided models and guidance on attempting to change the
culture through leadership development and instilling a sense of personal
responsibility in all employees. However, no theorist has provided an
infrastructure such that the process that will change the culture is
embedded in the organization. The Personal Balanced Scorecard process is
integrally linked with organizational goals within individual performance
plans for every employee to ensure change actually occurs and far richer
outcomes are realized. It is critical in this time of globalization to take
advantage of the intelligence of every employee and find ways of engaging
them as a whole human being. We have used the PBSC ourselves and we have
used it with clients and we've seen it work.-- Regina M. Bowden Ph.D. and
Eleanor Lester ABD, Organizational Change Managers, Michigan
- Personal Balanced Scorecard offers individuals a sense of hope and a pathway
to get there. Ultimately, all change is individual and personal and this
book offers a practical guide for helping people turn personal missions into
personal improvement actions. The frameworks and questions focus attention
on the right issues in the right way. --Dave Ulrich, author HR Value
Proposition, partner The RBL Group, and Professor Ross School of Business,
University of Michigan, USA.
- Personal Balanced Scorecard is excellently on time and on target. It is one
of the first tangible and useable means to provide for a person the
opportunity to create, follow, measure and improve his own agenda. With
PBSC, we start the long way towards a society in which the person will
become the central focus point, with a responsibility that will be larger
than ever before. In a world that will be more complex and tougher than seen
and experienced so far. PBSC will make the current but more so the next
generation better and stronger for the "personal age" that is about to
arrive to all of us.-- Professor Roel Pieper, Chairman Favonius Ventures and
former Vice President of Philips Electronics and Compaq Computer Corp.
- Personal Balanced Scorecard provides a roadmap for the organizations of the future! Hubert Rampersad is one of the great thought leaders that is both helping organizations increase effectiveness and helping people have better lives. He is helping make the world a better place, and is one of the few consultants who look at the entire picture - not just a small part. --Marshall Goldsmith, recognized by the American Management Association as one of 50 great thinkers and leaders who have impacted the field of management over the past 80 years. He has appeared in: The Wall Street Journal - as one of the top ten executive educators, Forbes - as one of five most-respected executive coaches and The Economist - as one of the most credible thought leaders in the new era of business.

3 comments about Gary Null's Guide to a Joyful, Heathly Life.
- As someone who has struggled with weight her entire life, this book is just what I was looking for. I finally realize that diets don't work...it takes a lifestyle change. I have just started on Gary's program and have faith that this time my weight loss is for life.
- People will pass by this book as with all authors, but the fortunate will stop and take notice.
Its a rare book, by a rare individual. It's life changeing.
Unquestionably true. Read it - and that's all one needs to say.
- By combining the 3 books into one makes it heavier to carry with you but it's not the kind of book to read lightly. These books helped me understand humyn behaviour/behaviourisms-not just my own. Hence the 'world' whether job, neighbourhood, or global; made more sense-why we people act or don't act or act like lemmings,or lead, etc. For me, because it was a different twist on all the psychobabble self help tripe published by every hoohah, it made me think, each book (part of this book) created a path to changing my thinking which allowed me to choose to change my attitudes and behaviour thus creating a much happier and better life for myself. Other than Louise Hay and alot of Hayhouse authors I have not read a reasonable and original self help directive that benefitted someone other than the authors.
Even if you disagree with Dr. Null on other things, this is not a book to overlook, nor discount, it's a great learning tool for choosing joy! Thanks, Gary!

5 comments about Going Home: A Positive Emotional Guide for Promoting Life-Generating Behaviors.
- I've been a mental health professional for nearly 40 years, and have practiced some of my own self-defeating behaviors over the years. Drs. Greg and Lori Boothroyd provide an accessible, easy-to-use, practical guide to helping people rid themselves of self-defeating behavior. A wonderful book that I have begun using in my own practice. I recommend it to everyone!
George Polley, MSW, LICSW
- Very insightful, especially if you do the work recommended.
- While reading this book it was clear that the authors are not only experts in their field, but they are passionate about their work. Their individual expertise combines to form a wonderfully warm and thoughtful book. Unlike so many books in the health and mental health genres, this book is easy to understand and the exercises can be used by anyone looking to fulfill their potential by eliminating self-defeating behaviors. How refreshing to try new and creative activities to improve our overall wellness.
- Mental health professionals Gregory Boothroyd and Lori Boothroyd combine their experience in Going Home: A Positive Emotional Guide for Promoting Life-Generating Behaviors, a consumable self-help book written especially for those who struggle with themselves in the search for happiness in their life and relationships. Chapters discuss how self-sabotaging behaviors are learned, maintained, and implemented, how to identify harmful behaviors and replace negative thought patterns with positive focus. Applications for these helpful psychological techniques range from learning to disassociate from substance abuser behavior patterns to improving communication in family or intimate relationships.
- this is truly one of the best books available for implementing behavior change. the self-defeating behavior exercise forces you to look at what you're doing regardless of how ready you are for change. if you are motivated already, it can help propel you forward. it's amazing how something so simple in theory can be one of the most confrontational and powerfully motivational tools for healing. people often just don't get it until you spell it out for them in black and white. this book is the shortest distance between two points. the self-defeating behavior exercise makes you look at negative patterns and self-perpetuating cycles brought on by just one core issue. the visual aspect of this exercise makes it really stick in memory as a reminder of the results of a certain behavior. this, then, can force you to give pause long enough to implement a more adaptive skill or coping mechanism.

3 comments about Steering Your Way Through Life: A Guide to Being Happy, Purposeful, and Fulfilled.
- If you feel life should have come with an owner's manual, this may be the book for you. Steering Your Way through Life gives a simple straightforward approach to developing your own personal philosophy. In less than 300 pages, this book covers the basic truths of life, valuable focus points for living, a down to earth discussion of religion and spirituality which includes the much discussed connections to quantum physics, and practical prayer and affirmation techniques. All of the explorations are done without insisting on buy in or belief. The reader is encouraged to explore further and come to his or her own conclusions. The emphasis is for the reader to find a personal connection to the Universal Consciousness and a comfortable and individual way of being in the world. To aid in this path of discovery are suggestions for affirmations, prayer, meditation and journaling. The book suggests resources for further spiritual growth and provides a Success System Journal exercise for practical application of the techniques discussed in its pages. The large print format and plain language make the book an easy and enjoyable read. This is a great book to give to someone embarking on their spiritual quest or confused by the many offerings now available in the area of spirituality and religion. This book will enable its reader to steer a reasonable and practical course while exploring the spiritual universe.
- This book is a simple, easy to read and thoughtful guide to living a meaningful life. It is done without preaching or pushing one religion over another, but allows the reader to discover the spirituality within himself. The goal is for the reader to find his or her own connection to the universe and a personal guide to prayer, meditation and positive thinking.
In does not champion or deny any religion, either, it just teaches about Jesus and Christianity in the true spiritual sense rather than by following narrow religious dogma. While opening up the reader to the power of prayer, positive thinking, affirmation and meditation, it is also a wonderfully clear explanation of the purpose of life. It helps the reader develop a personal spiritual philosophy which will carry him through all of life's challenges.
I can recommend this book to anyone who wishes to grow as a person and find a new sense of purpose and fulfillment in his or her life.
- The best, and most complete book of workable spiritual and metaphysical knowledge that I have read. Readers can now better understand the karmic forces acting upon them, and how to adjust to experience a more enlightened and rewarding life.
The book is unique in that it contains a "Forty Day Success System," Daily Journal, and a "Success Meditation" model. Also, it offers Affirmation Cards, Resources, and much more.
Readers looking for alternative spiritual choices will find them in this book, and the knowledge is presented in a clear and understandable framework. Complete information is furnished for the many offerings of metaphysical, spiritual, and new-age modalities.

2 comments about Why Are We Created? Increasing Our Understanding of Humanity's Purpose on Earth.
- REEVIEW OF; ?WHY ARE WE CREATED,? BY Sir John Templeton and Rebekah Alezander Dunlap.
This is a valuable book, a small one of less than 150 pages, it is packed with seemingly unanserable questions over which we may ponder, yet with many suggested pathways our thought processes might follow. There is much to be gained by pondering these questions, which makes the work far greater than its lack of bulk. It is a book about human potential, which builds evidence of humanity possessing a ?Splendor that can Shine,? as potential already achieved. The language gets lyrical, even within the introduction, talking about humans possessing , ?The ability to choose to move to a higher spiritual level of consciousness...?, (my italics,). It speaks of, ?A divine intelligence flowing through all of us,? and offers guidance on living this potential. It states, ?As we begin to elevate the thoughts, feelings, and actions of daily decision making in our individual lives, surely we will be making progress on the path of the sacred quest for all of humanity.? The book draws material from all major religions, and attempts as broad a sweep as possible to avoid seeming to favor any one path or philosophy. When posing the question about some creative source of the universe, it does lean toward a positive assumption to give life and meaning to the questioning process. Then poses a further question, ?Has our human concept of this creative source been too small?? Much of the book hints at knowledge beyond our understanding, and things that are unseen being much more than that which is seen. This offers the reader a major puzzle to ponder, for if a thing lies beyond our ability to understand it, what might that thing mean to us? Living life with a purpose is a major theme in the myriad of questions populating the pages. It makes the statement that ?The most fascinating phase of the human journey is its spiritual development,? and then adds that, ?Purpose is already there within us...waiting to be discovered.? One major theme in the book has to do with a person having the opportunity to feel part of a vast cosmic experiment, one encompassing all of creation, including themselves, just by being alive. If giving reasons for a person to live a spiritual life makes this a religious book, then it is one of the most religious books I have ever read. It states, ?What we are is the creator?s gift to us. What we may become is our gift to the creator.? It then adds, ?The person who is willing to say ?yes? to experience is the person who often discovers new frontiers.? I personally found the concluding pages of the book to be a challenging summary of the material, and the many questions posed within. It is a book for the 21st century. The book urges a synthesis of the main themes within all major religions to be a new understanding for the 21st century human. One that will better equip that human to answer the primary question that is the title of the book, ?Why Are We Created.?
- "Why Are We Created?: Increasing Our Understanding Of Humanity's Purpose On Earth" by Sir John Templeton and Rebeka Alezander Dunlap is a four hour and ten minute audiobook recording on four CDs. Expertly narrated by Brea Brannon and Len Stea, "Why Are We Created?" addresses such issues as whether or not happiness is related to our purpose, or it our purpose is related to our happiness. If a person places a particular virtue such as honesty at the top of his list of personal ethics what benefit does this bring to him and to others around him? Sir John Templeton felt that there is more to life than what we may presently be experiencing and that we might be living successfully in the outer world, but that it was essential for our happiness to also live successfully in our inner world. Indeed, it was through awakening our spiritual faculties that we can begin to move closer to understanding our personal purpose in life -- and the power of that purpose to drive and shape our lives. "Why Are We Created" is thoughtful and thought- provoking listening for anyone trying to understand themselves and their relationship to themselves and to the people who surround them. Also very highly recommended from the Templeton Foundation Press are two other new CD formatted audiobook releases: "Wisdom From World Religions: Pathways Toward Heaven On Earth" (Sir John Templeton, 1932031839, $29.95) and "Possibilities For Over One Hundredfold More Spiritual Information: The Humble Approach In Theology And Science (Sir John Templeton, 1932031847, $14.95).

5 comments about Approaching God: How to Pray.
- Words can hardly describe! If you are wanting a closer walk, a deeper relationship, but don't know how to go about it, this book is for you! Bravo, Steve Brown! You took the "scary" and the "guilt" out of approaching God, yet the approach is as reverent and worshipful as ever. In light of the WTC bombing, I am ever so mindful of what Steve Brown reminds us in the context of this book; i.e., the victory is already ours! I will keep this book for life. ...
- Steve Brown really delves deep into the doctrine for prayer! This is an excellent handbook for people who really want to know not only how to approach God, but what it takes to have satisfying and fulfilling interaction with Him.
Rather than trying to tell people what to pray or even what not to, Mr. Brown gets to the root of the problem... getting started. Mr. Brown's theory is "Unbelievers don't pray because they are afraid that God might be there. Believers don't pray because they are afraid he might not be." He asserts that God is interested in developing a relationship with us not just hearing from us when we want or need something. He explains that before we can have this relationship we need to trust God unconditionally. To leap forward or fall back in total faith that God will be there to catch us and sustain us, even in times when He doesn't seem to answer or even refuses our requests. It is his contention that in contrast many of us try to manipulate or bargain with God often by trying to find out what prayer or combination of prayers will get God to give us the things we desire or help us gain control over our lives and the lives of those we interact with in life. Steve Brown goes even deeper, exposing how our innate need to control or take over control when we feel God is not there for us short-circuits God's plans for us. He relates quite a bit of relevant scripture including how Jesus tried to teach much of this in His parables and testimony while on earth. He examines the Lord's Prayer which was given to us by Christ as an example of how to pray, not what to pray. In doing so Mr. Brown identifies the key concepts behind the prayer millions have adopted as their prayer, when in actuality they are more often than not just lackadaisically repeating words. Mr. Brown encourages us to open our hearts and minds in prayer and share our doubts, our fears, our pain, our sin, and our shame because, as it is written, nothing is hidden from God anyway. He just wants to hear it acknowledged by us. Through this confession as well as by relinquishing control and listening for God to speak to us, we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives and bring about what is good for us and to develop spiritual attitudes and outward manifestations of our salvation and growth as believers.
- I find this book easy to read and hard to put down. I've had it for half a day and have already read half of it. It feels like Mr. Brown is sitting in the room talking to me. I have read some other books regarding prayer and how to pray, but this one is the best I've read so far. I'm new to faith and Christianity and this makes me feel more deserving and willing to carry on the every important conversations with God. I highly recommend reading this book to new Christians.
- A wonderful book. Insightful, direct, well written and easy to understand. It answered so many questions for me. This is a book that I will have close at hand for many years, if not for the rest of my life. Thank you Mr. Brown.
- Steve Brown's first book is a fabulous introduction with a keen insight into prayer, written in a down-to-earth language. He affirms where you've been, complete with the good parts and the bad parts. He offers you the opportunity to go deeper, but insists it all depends on God calling you there. I borrowed the copy from church, and had to underline. So I bought another copy for the church, and put the purloined, underlined copy on the Keeper Shelf. A simply great read.

5 comments about Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
- Admittedly, there's a lot to digest here. But if you're persistent & "open" enough to "get it", this material can
really CHANGE your life for the better. I KNOW, because
it changed mine!
- All I can say is WOW! This book is unbelievable, and the information in it changed how I think about everything, and how I react.
Since learning about the reactive mind, I can see it instantly in others, and myself. When people get angry, and spew from their mouth things they can't even remember afterwards because it is a 'tape from their mind' from a similar situation that invoked it, this was brilliant. I now watch myself, and correct it much quicker than ever before, and as a result has given me a more peaceful existence. I ran the drills with my husband, and I totally got how it worked, and a major win. We couldn't believe how easy it was to follow the steps, and actually help yourself and others to detect issues, and clear them.
If you want an easy to follow guide that you and a friend or loved one can do to help each other get stronger, healthier, and become a better person, it will be the best money you have ever spent.
Enjoy the journey, I know I am now.
- I was amazed by the information in this CD. Finally, I found information about the human mind that actually makes sense.
The theory behind it is logical, the process is simple to learn, and the results DO work.
I used what I learned from this with my two sons, and it was amazing. They really enjoyed it, and I notice that they are happier since the Dianetic processing.
I recommend this to EVERYONE.
- The audio was to the note. It was read like a storybook. This is a major dynamic text. I lisened to it 5 times and then got the book and read along. Very dynamic information - definitely worth the read for the seekers in the world.
- I read the book as part of the Hubbard Dianetics Course.
I larned a lot, and did some auditing as well. I also got auditing, which helped tremendously.
The people who attack it, often have commited some crimes, that they are afraid someone will find out about, or dont want people to get better, and do well in life.
This book will give you valuble insight into how these people tick, and your own fears, and ups and downs in life.
Stress is not a treatable malady with dangerous drugs. The drugs will do more harm then good.
You can find out what causes stress, and do away with it, without harming yourself, or others around you.
Make sure you clear any misunderstood words, or read the booklet "Technology of Study" by L.Ron Hubbard. Also extremly helpfull, and essential knowledge you can learn about

5 comments about You'll See It When You Believe It: The Way to Your Personal Transformation.
- I am writing this review after seeing "The Secret" on DVD and browsing that book. I remembered reading those exact same concepts (which work, by the way) in many of Wayne Dyers books. In my opinion Dyer far surpasses all the other gurus for a couple of reasons.
First of all, his perspective focuses on giving out or sending out love, practicing forgiveness and of course visualizing to manifest rather than just this "genie granting wishes" attitude that I find so offensive in other law of attraction oriented works.
Dyer explains the whole process and leaves you with a very good feeling, not a cheesy, warm fuzzy feeling or a quick fix but a genuine "aha" type of feeling.
Also, he presents the material with careful thought and sincerity, and many many detailed examples. What you won't find are the many insults to one's intelligence in the form of a book cover designed to look like some stupid ancient scroll, no ridiculous marketing campaign, and none of the pretentiousness of the others who claim the info is somehow secret. It's not. Dyer also has the decency and the confidence to not present the concepts as if they were given to him by some bizarre spirit guide, which I vehemently do not believe it.
- This book will change your life. It spooked me, but the changes I did allow have lasted almost 20 years. Even I still can't believe what the power of thought could do. Some are simple things; I ALWAYS get a great parking space, but that's an inconsequential thing. I realized I had and was able to stop an addictive behavior. But the spookiest thing, which doctors say cannot happen, was I cured a disease; scared me and I never did it again. I had plantars warts and when I was ready for them to be gone, with my entire mind and heart I insisted that they stop and they were gone the next day, plus they have never come back. "Spontaneous remission" is the term doctors use, but they really don't think it can happen. I just nod my head in amazement. Thank you Dr Dyer.
- The hardcopy version of this book was the very first book I read in the spiritual growth category. To this day, nearly two decades later, I still look back on it as a pivotal, life-changing work. The chapter on "Forgiveness" in particular is the best content regarding that subject that I have ever come across. For this reason and more, I include "You'll See It When You Believe It" as a "must-read" in the recommended reading list included within my own book.
- I have actually been through a long period of spiritual chaos. I have owned this book in the past. I also owned many other books that are of this kind. I thought that this book would be helpful because it was written by a psychologist. This book is actually useless. The best thing to do in times of turmoil is to keep things SIMPLY. That is the best solution. Think in a positive way but not to the extreme end that is advocated in all these self improvement books which are actually self DESTRUCTION books.
For those who question my opinion, I have been severely depressed for over 6 years. I stop being depressed back in 2003. I am currently a psychology major. REAL psychology books are VERY different from these SHAM books.
I hope my review have helped someone. If you have books like this, you should throw them away.
- Seems as though Wayne just randomly pieced together this CD. ABSOLUTELY nothing like the book which I value beyond words.

5 comments about The 100 Simple Secrets of Happy People: What Scientists Have Learned and How You Can Use It.
- just buy it, it does help. i suggest highlight the words that you think can really help you. the words that struck you will help you. just buy it, it helps damn it
- What a fun book! I went to a conference where the speaker referred to this book. Some suggestions are already a part of my habits, but there are some real gems that are new. Get this book and get happy!!
- I highly recommend this book to everyonde who's planning a wedding right now -- whether you're the bride, groom, parent, bridal party member. As the stress increases during the wedding plans, this great little book will remind you of the insights to happiness. It's a light, easy read that you'll revisit again and again.
- I enjoyed reading this book so much that I ended up seeking out other books by this author. It's not just a book filled with "feel-good" advice, but the ideas are backed by research studies that prove the ideas work.
This is one of those books that you can read from cover to cover, or just read little bits and pieces whenever you want. Each of the 100 "secrets" in the book is explained in a page or two. There is a quick two or three sentence summary of the secret, followed by more information or an illustrative example, and concluded with the statistics or study that backs up the idea.
The ideas were definitely things I could put to good use. Some were things I already knew (although it was nice to see them backed by research studies) and others were ideas that I hadn't really thought about before. Some of the secrets include:
Exercise
Volunteer
Pay Attention. You may have what you want.
Try to think less about the people and things that bother you.
Friendship beats money
Accept yourself - unconditionally
I found this book to be a fun and positive read while providing great tips that can easily be put to use. I'd recommend this to any reader - and it would make a wonderful gift!
- I loved this book so much that I purchased several copies and sent to friends. Another reviewer mentioned that the book was superficial; of course each piece of advice was brief, that was his intent! The book is meant to be a non-tedious read.

5 comments about Damn!: Reflections on Life's Biggest Regrets.
- Thanks to the author for compiling this marvelous wealth of human experience and insight into such a delightful format. I only wish that a book like DAMN had been published years ago before I amassed my own regrets.
Don't let the title deceive you, DAMN is a book that inspires because it allows the reader to take the long view on life through the rear view mirror of the choice of others. Very rarely does a book come along that resonates the results of so much experience without sounding the least bit preachy or pious. I keep a copy in the glove compartment of my car so that I have something bite sized to review whenever I have to wait for something or someone for more than a few moments and I want to keep my mind engaged. It has spawned a number of great conversations with my children and several other passengers. This book makes a great gift for anyone who considers life a journey and is willing to weigh the consequences of the mistakes of others as they make their own important life choices. JM
- This book is a wonderful insight into how we all think about the would of, could have and should dones in our life. It makes you realize how human we all are and not alone in any real circumstance if we open our hearts and thoughts to those around us. How to trust your instincts. It will make you think about what is important in your life and how time, pain and experiences make us all grow into better people. The stories are so sincere and heartfelt...kind of like reading someone's diary. I laughed, smiled and cried. I bought several copies for friends and they appreciated the books messages as well. Be Well!
- Haven't we all wished we could go back and change something in our lives?
This book is a collection of short comments...brief stories from people expressing their regrets. Some are humorous and others are sad, but they are always interesting.
James Green, author of "If There's One Thing I've Learned."
- I have always had this desire to make the best use of my time, especially in life. This book is fascinating in how you can learn from the experience of others. Also a good book if your parents and people around you never really shared thier "If I knew then what I know now" stories and you really need that kick in the pants.
Also a great motivater to use this one life the best way you can.
- This book was funny, tender, heartbreaking, though-provoking, and uplifting - all in one. I cried a lot while reading DAMN, not only because I was so touched by all of the honest admissions of regret but also because I (like most people) have found myself dealing with regrets of my own at times. DAMN reminded me that to err truly is human, and that very few people make all the right moves in life. And it also helped me view my own past mistakes for what they were (learning experiences, a part of life) and move away from the tendency to beat myself up over them.
DAMN is a great book; I recommend it to everyone.
