  1. This book seems to encompass ideas from most Judeo-Christian religions. It was very inspirational and really makes you take a look at your life.

  2. This one does not feel like a book (since it's a companion to The Alchemist), as there is no story, but rather a set of thoughts. It reads fast if you know the original sources so i'm not sure it's worth compared to things like Tao the Ching, The Art of War, and other classics. It may help when reading the Alchemist, at least to indicate at which level the Alchemist should be read, but alone it is simply a compilation of other works. Might be useful to read again the Alchemist after reading this one...

  3. The message is great, the writing is fine, but the book in general left something to be desired. Cheap paper, bad printing, and large type make it look and feel like a cheap paperback dressed up in it's big sister's clothes. Making money while he's still famous? I think his message is worth more than this cheap paperback with a hard cover.

  4. Powerful collection of advice and insight that doesn't follow any single line of religious dogma, but instead borrows from all of them to create a universal code of higher wisdom. This is one of those books (like Napoleon Hill's Positive Action Plan: 365 Meditations For Making Each Day a Success) that I will never finish reading -- I'll read it for the rest of my life.

  5. I thought this was going to be like Coelho's other books but it's not. Instead it's something like a book of proverbs. Very much worth it's wieght...

  1. This was indeed a good read and uplifting to one's basic inner instincts just what we need in todays madding world! Bob is kind of a turn on as well.

  2. Bob Doyle's conversational style makes this book easy to read.
He is careful to introduce unfamiliar concepts clearly and concisely and to reiterate each point, often using various examples to illustrate their relevance to the reader.
His use of short paragraphs adds to the book's readability.
Mr. Doyle succeeds in conveying his genuine compassion for his readers and his desire for their success in absorbing the strategies which have made him so successful. His positive outlook is infectious!

  3. This is a good book on the law of attraction. It takes the material in "The Secret" to the level of practical application. The author emphasizes the action steps needed to use the law of attraction. He has also dedicated a section on answering questions one might have on using the laws described. I think this book is a must read for anyone starting out on using the law of attraction.

  4. Wealth beyond reason by Bob Doyle is worth whatever you paid for it. Many books have been written about the Law of Attraction, and recently also many have written about The secret (or the Key) behind The Secret, the book/dvd by Rhonda Byrne. What makes Bob's book stand out among the others is his way of explaining things from the point of view of Quantum physics. I admit, this may not be the right thing for people not familiar with physics. Another achievement of Bob is the clarity he gave me about the limiting beliefs or roadblocks that hinder our success in manifesting our desires. This is the strong point of his book. I would definitely advise everyone to read the book, especially those who are familiar with the LOA and The Secret and have not been very successful so far. Try this book.

  5. I think this book was well worth the money. It's well-written, easy to understand, and is a quick read. Sure, there are other Law of Attraction books out there--and he gives you a link to eight of his recommendations. I've read a few books on the Law of Attraction and they all have their own mix to add to the pot, so you pull what you need from each one. He also includes an Experiential Meditation for you to record yourself to play back daily which I found helpful. He basically gives you all the tools you need, then it's up to you to put them to use.

5 comments about Transformation Soup: Healing for the Splendidly Imperfect.
  1. While it pains me to say it, there were times when I was reading "Transformation Soup" when I felt cheated. Having discovered Sark through "Succulent Wild Woman" and having found that book to be gloriously uplifting, funny and helpful from first page to last, I found myself disappointed by the first half of "Transformation Soup." Just about the time I was thinking this, the book started to turn around for me. By the time I finished it, I was back in the same warm, blessed and happy place I was when I read "Succulent."

Thank goodness we have a world with Sark in it.

  2. This writer is a joy to read and so invigorating. My life is changing with sark and her inspirational writings. I have the freedom to have a sark moment every minute of the day. Don't ever stop giving us your thoughts because you make my life colourful, dreamy, scrumptious, special, lovable, tender, exciting and anything else that sounds good.

  3. Ok I admit that I was attracted to this book (I own all her books) because of Chapter on Bodies and the topic of Why Do We Care About Chin Hairs. My late Mother in Law whom I idolized would sit and pluck her chin hairs as she watched television. And SARK points out that the reason some people care so much is because of the preoccupation society has with "looks". My mother in laws chin hair simply served as a reminder that we as human animals have hair in places we wish we didn't and have no hair in places we wished we did.

Her chapter on page 66 Food And Where It Leads Us speaks of the love hate relationship some people have with food. People who meet me say I look like a cross between the fairy godmother in the Disney Cinderella and some wild mountain woman. I am not thin I am not fat I am plump and like myself, even though I am always trying to improve on myself for ME which is what SARK talks about.

The whole book I must say is full of wisdom and fun and is a book I read and read and re-read and glean new wisdom from each time. There is something I believe in all sincerity, for every woman who reads the book.

  4. I accidentally became acquainted with Sark's books when a friend gave me one of her calendars. I was stunned by the artwork because it looked as if a child had done it, but the little sayings were so wise. I absolutely adored that calendar! So naturally, I explored books by Sark. One of her favorite words is succulent--she wrote a whole book about it and every word was interesting. She takes herself to task, chides herself, admits she cries and feels fury--A LOT--but also goes into her brutal childhood, her fights and wonderful discussions with her brother, her incredibly complex relationship with her mother--in other words, Sark chronicles LIFE in all its pain and joy. Transformation Soup is essentially about healing ourselves and how we must get beyond the past events in our lives which cripple us and hold us prisoner. Truly, I loved every word of this book (it especially speaks to middle-aged women, I think) and have read it three times. Sark is extremely honest and forthcoming in all her books, but she really did save her best for Transformation Soup. Sark is a compelling artist and writer and I pick up her books when I feel low or confused and they do help so much. I cannot say enough superlatives in describing the books written and illustrated by Sark. She uses simple language and helps you reach deep inside--she helps you help yourself.

  5. I received this book as a Christmas Gift Dec of 2007. This is my first intro to SARK. I loved her work for being creative and fearless. This product represents her definition of ART, Writing, and Style and establishes SARK's bar. Too many times, we allow world's views to keep us trapped in expressing our authentic works. I found this work as refreshing as cool water on a warm day. It redefined for me the definition of true self expression without trepidation.

Thank you Angela for the gift.

  2. THE BEST LATINAMERICAN AUTHOR OF CENTURY 21TH
MIGUEL RUIZ IS THE MASTER OF LOVE OF THIS NEW AGE!!!
DO NOT MISS TO READ ALL HIS BOOKS!!!
JUST THE BEST LOVE BOOKS EVER!!!!

The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent: Living the Art of Allowing"

  4. In a search for the philosophies in the modern world, this book is an interesting theory. If You can try this model of working mind, You could feel a sensation of re-born in your life, because we needs a change in our behavior in the XXI century, Try to apply like an excercise and you will note a difference in your family, work, social group, Only one thing, it is really difficult try to explain to others in a religious group, because in theory of many religions a lot of acts and thinking form are a dogma. You could be tagged like a NEW AGE seeker.
This book talk about an ancient tribe in Mexico and its way to take their life many years ago.

  5. Este es un libro perfecto para el principiante que comienza a descubrir la verdadera edentidad y la verdad de nuestra vida. Este libro es muy bien recomendado.

  1. Don't be put off by Michael's ability to convey complex concepts simply and with humour. The techniques detailed in this book ACTUALLY WORK. Unlike many books that want to show you how you should live, this one offers you the opportunity of real positive change. I end up using these techniques almost subconsciously, probably because Michael, as an NLP master, knows how to get the point across, and I find myself putting into practice what I read quite effortlessly. Its actually quite a fun book to read, even though it does offer you the opportunity for deep lasting change. The thing is Michael keeps telling us that we can have success while having fun and doing it the easy way. Its hard to beleive at first, but in my experience that's exactly what ends up happening! Happy AND Successful? I did not know it was possible, but this is what this book is all about. Highly reccomended.

  2. If you want a book you can pick up to find wonderful approaches and ideas to maximize all parts of your life this is it. The quotes engage you and the stories compel you to look at your work and your life.

One of the many beautiful quotes hit me: " The central method of achieving a happier life is to train our mind in a daily practice that weakens negative attitudes and strengthens positive ones."

Amazingly Mike shows us the way to do just what the Dalai Lama suggests. With his profound wisdom and easy-to-put-into-action guidance and advice this is a great read. For years I've loved the way that Mike shows us the way as he deconstructs great ideas in his daily and now weekly tips on the internet. His writing pulls me in and reveals new sides to ideas I thought I'd visited before. You can open his book to any section to learn anew. Each chapter is a stand alone guide to something very important in your life and finding your purpose.

  3. Feel Happy Now is a great reference book to have in your personal library. I can easily see myself re-reading this material as needed.

    Thank you for sharing Michael!

  4. Anything written by Michael Neill is superb! He walks his talk and his words can change your life.

  5. Is this is a great book or it is just the right book at the right time? I'm living under conditions that I have no control over right now, and I had already realized that it wasn't my fault and I couldn't do anything to fix it. This book confirmed that I was entitled to feel happy anyway. That I needed to find the joy that existed in my life anyway, and acknowledge it, and enjoy it.

Nothing can make you unhappy except your own attitude. Here are the tools to recognize that and do something about what is going on in your life.

If it is time for you to take control over your own emotional life, this might be the right book for you too.

  1. This book has given me the inspiration to re-create my life; re-create myself. For me, I'm not even thinking of it as the best 'year' of my life... I'm looking at it as the best LIFE I could possibly create. So far, I've gotten off of depression meds, stopped smoking, joined weight watchers, stopped existing off of soda, and began preperations for nursing school entrance. The sky's the limit, and I don't plan on stopping the transformation anytime soon. Every time I pick up this book, I feel inspired for the day. I read a page from it every day before I even get out of bed, and it sets the tone for my day. If you're looking to start over or re-create yourself, or just to start living the life that you KNOW you should be living... this book is a must have. I can't say enough good things about it.

  2. This small book packs a punch, if you let it. If you spend just a few minutes applying the concepts to your own life and your own experience, Debbie Ford's words could possibly change your experience of life. This is not one of those "if you can imagine it, it will happen" kinds of books. In fact, she stresses that fantasizing will not get us the life we want. Instead, she focuses on methods for getting closer to your own integrity and your own best self. I'd describe the book as practical, engaging, and highly useful.

  3. I have 3 of her books and I found this the most useful. It was geared more towards action, and not as much on a philosophical level. Very helpful.
I am involved in the coaching program through her institute and it has had a dramatic change on my life.

  4. Good for goal-planning and moving forward in your life.
Debbie Ford always hits the nail on the head!~

  5. I am enjoying this book . It has truly made me think about my life and how I should be living it

I am glad I choose this book as a permantant part of my library.

  1. Incredible the way Jorge Bucay and Laura Salinas touch the issue of human relationships. This is a brilliant way of making people think of how they relate to their couples, to others and most importantly with themselves. A book of common senses? It may be. But it sure brings those common senses to a conscient level.
    Great reading and great reflexion.

5 comments about Same Sex in the City: (So Your Prince Charming Is Really a Cinderella).
  1. I really enjoyed this book, and it helped me realize that the feelings that I've been having toward women for the majority of my life are common and lots of other females have been in the same boat as me. The only semi-negative message I got from the book was "pretty popular girls can be lesbians, too".

  2. I was up until the wee hours of the morning for three nights in a row--this book is a page-turner. I'm not gay (that's what they all say, but four beers later...), so the dating info wasn't really helpful to me, except in a fascinating, peek-through-the-keyhole kind of way. The narratives were riveting: two on Chanukah cruises in the Caribbean, threesomes gone bad, raw and real stories about coming out and breaking up, and hilarious, read aloud anecdotes about dating, bar-hopping, and "going in for the kill." I was sad to read about the parents crying over their beautiful gay girls and glad to see them come around. I've already recommended this book to half a dozen people--you don't have to be gay to fall in love with it.

  3. I thought it was going to be some sort of guide book..instead it's a collection of short stories...one after another of various women who tell us dramatic excerpts of their "first experiences" to falling for the ubiquitous straight girl. The book is short story collection bordering on Lesbian Erotica. Mostly though I was amazed that almost 70% of the stories involve alcohol, a few were deeply depressing low self worth tales, and overall not very inspiring pieces of literature. I wasn't sure what message the writers are really trying to say --if any--- by choosing to include some of the stories in the book. Honestly why write this? what was the point? With advice like "A good top knows exactly what to say to get to the bottom's heart: "I need you." WHAT?????? I shut the book after that line.......

  4. Wow. Thank you, Laurens, for writing exactly what the world needed: a book that offered advice and great stories for lesbians who a. not only don't fit the awful lesbian stereotype, but also hate that this stereotype exists b. believe that their desire to look attractive has NOTHING to do with their sexual preference c. know that their desire for pretty feminine women doesn't mean they are 'less lesbian' than someone who desires women that get called 'sir' in public, and d. want to live out, visible, happy lives. I just finished "Reading the L Word", a very academic analysis of the show, and was appalled. It seemed that every contributor (most of them lesbians) trashed the show just because the women didn't wear oversized cargo pants, birkenstocks, and have crew cuts. Apparently, this and the fact that the characters were more concerned with sex and partying than endless political protesting made the L Word "not represent the lesbian community". I wish I could tell the contributors to read the Laurens' book in order to realize that their world of sexless, boring, prudish, ugly women aren't the only dykes out there. Back to the book: ANY lesbian who hates the 'styleless ugly lesbian' stereotype will LOVE this book. They will feel like they are hearing stories and advice from friends about coming out, sex, crushes on straight girls (I wish I had this book several years ago!), dating and random hook ups, long term relationships, etc. It is also handy for those who are questioning their sexuality, as I feel like the authors did a good job separating the heteroflexibles from those who really were only into women sexually. When the book ended, I was really disappointed. I wanted to read more on other topics relevant to lesbian life. I would love it if the Laurens wrote a sequel to "Same Sex In The City", or started an advice column for the non-stereotypical lesbian! There are so many more relevant topics that I'd love to see covered, such as: 1. how to tell if a hot femme girl at a mixed event is queer, 2. handling non-monogamy or threesomes in lesbian relationships, 3. how to change the 'ugly lesbian' stereotype, and 4. lesbians and overdrinking, overdrugging, and overpartying (a topic that always gets covered with gay guys but never with dykes). All in all, a wonderful and necessary read.

  5. Form back cover:

"At last, a relationship book for lesbians that tells it like it is...

The journey from sexual curiosity to finally coming out can be confusing without proper guidance and empowering role models. In 'Same Sex in the City,' Lauren Levin and Lauren Blitzer provide women - gay, straight, and bi-curious alike - with firsthand insight into the advantages and challenges of being a lesbian. In prose that is at once honest and uplifting, the Laurens relate their own experiences and those of the women they interview, as well as offer serious advice, titillating anecdotes, and a positive attitude for girls who know they're gay - and for those who are wondering about their sexuality but are not yet sure whether their Prince Charming is really a Cinderella.

Part confessional, part informational, 'Same Sex in the City' covers the gamut of lesbian life - from dating to heartbreak, and from hooking up with straight chicks to raising a family. It's the book that millions of women have been searching for - a relationship guide that will help every woman come to terms with and celebrate her sexuality, whatever it may be."

5 comments about The Single Girl's Manifesta: Living in a Stupendously Superior Single State of Mind.
  1. The book caught my eye with it's pink cover, so I picked it up at a bookstore and couldn't put it down!

The first stat that caught my eye made me feel really good: millions of Americans are single and loving it! Stewart tells her story of living "la dolce vita solo" and includes anecdotes of people from many backgrounds and ages who are experiencing the sweet single life too. Although there are many great points, there are several that I just adore: singles spend time with charities, work, explore different interests and people, and are not waiting for the ring, the house, or the trip around the world from a spouse - they're buying them on their own! She also adds all kinds of interesting ideas throughout the book for activities to do as a single person.

The Manifesta reflected my reasons why I choose to be a single, gave me new reasons, and was a fun read too. As Stewart says, being single is what you choose to be, not doomed to be!

  2. As a single, black female in my late 20s, I have continually focused on finding someone to have as my own. This book made me realize that person is me. I am SO incredibly happy being single the book made me realize I can have a fulfilling life into my 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond without being tied down to someone. The alternative to being single is not bliss (I've seen way to many messed up relationships to believe that's true). Being single is a blesing and not a curse.

I've read a lot of "you go girl" & "loving the solo life" kind of books, but this one offers practical advice and really struck a cord like others haven't.

  3. I was very excited to recieve this book, and began reading it right away. About a chapter in I wasn't so excited to continue this and found it harder to pick it up. The author does give helpful advice that is fun to keep in mind when you are single and ideas for what to do with yourself. The part I personally did not care for is that half the book are stories from other singles, I found myself skimming through every story just to get to the main point paragraphs after each one. If you don't mind reading those than you will enjoy this book. But for me I want to get to the point, I want facts, and substance. I don't want to read about what Janet age 30 is doing with her single life!!

  4. I thought it was fabulous. How liberating and wonderful to see a book that doesn't focus on how to "get through" being single but rather how to live a wondeful life while you're single, whether it's for a week or for a lifetime. The idea I loved most was the scrapbooking idea, putting together a vision of what your future would/could look like as a single women, putting to rest the fear of sitting all alone in a room full of cats and seeing one's self on adventures and trips and surrounded by family and friends and relationships and love. In the end, we go around once, right? What a waste to spend that time waiting, waiting, instead of creating, creating.

  5. My personal mantra is to live lusciously, live "la dolce vita", so when I saw Jerusha's version "la dolce vita solo", I knew I had to read the book. It is a delicious read! The Singular Sensations, Steal this Life columns, and Pleasure Passes are ab-soul-utely fabulous. After reading "The Single Girl's Manifesta" you'll live the most bodacious life you ever dreamed. Hey even married women should read it and add spice to their lives! I ran into Jerusha at SF Ladies Who Launch Live and she is as sparkling as her book! Toodles, gotta run because tonight I'm bathing in champagne! (Pleasure Pass #2)

4 comments about Practice Random Acts of Kindness: Bring More Peace, Love, And Compassion into the World.

  1. "Try not. do or do not, there is no try."
-- Yoda, in The Empire Strikes Back movie of the Star Wars trilogy

Each special story starts with a quote. To me, this Yoda quote says it all. We should not talk or think about doing random acts of kindness--we should be doing them.

People's stories are divided into six sections:

Kindness Is An Attitude and an Action
    Kindness Begins at Home
Kindness Ripples Out into the World
Kindness Creates Happiness and Peace of Mind
    Kindness Generates Love and Compassion
Kindness Feeds the Body and Soul

In all areas of our life we can practice acts of kindness--and that is shown in these stories collected by the authors of Random Acts of Kindness.

The Random Acts of Kindness series has sold over 1.5 million books since first published in 1996. This latest release provides readers with meditations, affirmations, and stories collected on kind deeds throughout the world. It gives readers the spiritual and psychological impetus to "pay it forward" in a meaningful way, understanding that their act may go unnoticed, but as Rabbi Kushner says "our reward is the knowledge that we have redeemed the world."

At a time when readers are starved for heartfelt stories, good deeds, concerned neighbors, and all around compassion, Conari felt the time was right to reprint this book.

Armchair Interview says: Now is the time to act. Acts of kindness are easy to do.

  2. This book is a wonderful expression on what the world needs most. I just couldn't punish my 8 month old puppy when he ate the cover off the book. So, even there is a random act of kindness inspired by this book.
    I really enjoy Kushner's books.

  3. The world would be a much better place if we all practiced random acts of kindness on a regular basis. It only takes a simple act, a kind word, or some small amount of kindness to change a person's whole day. Even the crankiest person, when given the chance, can actually show that their humanity. Moreover, kindness is highly contagious, so it is the gift that keeps giving. In return, we are able see people in a different light, feel more connected, and ultimately change the world just a little.

Practice Random Acts of Kindness is truly awe-inspiring. From the title, I expected that this book would include very specific lists of things that I could do to practice random acts of kindness in my own life. I was fully ready to pour over several hundreds of pages of ideas until I found one or two acts that I could actually do.

I was happily surprised. As I read though the pages, I came up with dozens of things that I could actually do in my daily life. Instead of long lists to peruse, this book examines important topics associated with helping others such as understanding what you expect to get out of being kind, how seemingly small acts go a long way, and most importantly that the best time to do an act of kindness is when you don't feel like it (for someone who might not be so appreciative). Each section includes an inspirational quote and stories of those who received or witnessed acts of kindness. This format allowed me to be creative and find ways to use my own talents, abilities, and circumstances to make the world just a little better.

  4. Have you ever wondered what impact your daily encounters can have on those around you? Have you ever thought that good deeds go unnoticed?

Taken from the stories of individuals that have been touched by kindness, this compilation explores the connections we have to one another, and shows us how to live fully from a place of gratitude for even the seemingly smallest acts.

Practice Random Acts of Kindness is organized into themed sections, with short stories or meditations offered on kindness all relating back to thought provoking quotes.

"The attitude we have toward the world affects everyone around us. ... When we are able to move through our lives radiating happiness, we are like mobile suns, bathing everyone in the warmth of our rays."
