- If you're like me and almost everyone I know, when asked what you would most like, the answer is an extra 12 hours a day. We're all overbooked and overcommitted, and forget to follow simple psychological and spiritual common sense: slow down, replinish the soul, repair ourselves and our souls.
Filled with inspirational, common sense and psychologically sound advice, Pause inspires the reader to stop reading and do one of the multitude of good suggestions to get back to ourselves. Its a great book to read a small chapter at a time and let yourself follow your heart at the end of the chapter and do something that is kind to yourself and to the world. You will feel better fast.
- I try to slow down and relax and always look for books with this attitude. Maybe others need this book more than I. However, I found the book filled with some good suggestions and resources to check out. If you are looking at ways to incorporate a better quality of life then this may be one book to add among others to your shelf. Some people may not like that it doesn't take a total back to basics move towards simplicity. She suggests adding some small indulgences in your routine such as a cup of coffee or treats. Those who can't afford this approach may not see the value. However, other suggestions are inexpensive.
Even if you don't incorporate many suggestions from the book, it is a thought starter to living a more balanced life.

- Think Big: Unleashing Your Potential for Excellence
This is a MUST book for young people of all types and ages. The philosophy expressed herein is essential to their success. We have ALL our students read and absorb it. Mary Kessler, Beehive LDS Schooling, LLC. St. George, Utah
- Think Big: Unleashing Your Potential for Excellence
This is an awesome book. It is a must read for students struggling in school or struggling with life.
- One of the greatest stories I have ever read. It is a true reflection of one who leads by example in what he says. The author's recognition of the importance of reading and a refusal to dwell on the negatives is a true understanding of what it takes to maximize one's potential. His recognition of God is also significant in the fulfillment of one's purpose. The author is in agreement with the author of Breaking Free: The Key to Empowerment, Happiness & Fulfillmentin his understanding of the power of the mind and positive thinking. This book is a must read for all persons from the moment they can read!
- I read this book years ago when I was still in school. I read it quite a few times since then. It inspired me to be more and do more. I admire Dr. Carson, and I thank him for sharing his story and road to success with me.
- Continuing his desire to share what he has learned in his journey to greatness, Dr. Carson lays out in very plain terms his philosophy of life and how it has become so important to him. T-H-I-N-K-B-I-G could completely overhaul this country in profound ways. It's worth the time to dig into this and find out how it can affect your life.

2 comments about Dr. Bernie Siegel's Audio Collection.
- I think anyone facing a life threatening disease would find solace and down to earth advice from Bernie. He is a oncologist who is not afraid to let the patient be a human being and have them come first. He does not treat "doctoring" like a business. He lets people know about the healing due to the mind/body connection and gives everyone hope. By the end of the tapes he feels like a personal friend. Even if you are not seriously ill he helps you learn about being positive in the face of challenges and resolve problems in your life now that hold you back from your true happiness so you will not succumb to stress related illnesses.
- These audio books are great in the car for anyone struggling with ANY sort of illness. I played them over and over. There is real hope and solutions here.

3 comments about Growing Into Soul: The Next Step in Human Evolution.
- This book is a lifesaver--or at least a marriage saver for us. We had been acting out so many times, and our therapist recommended this book for us. It is based upon thousands of hours of clinical work by the author, Gwen. She helped us to see when we were coming from our ego side, and by contrast, how soul would handle the same situation. Brilliant and MOST helpful.
- Gwen Randall-Young has written an excellent book. Growing into Soul covers the work we do on the ego level - which is based usually upon fear and has the intention of satisfying only the self on a superficial level. It also covers the work we can grow into doing on the Soul level - which is based upon love and has the intention of satisfying the soul's growth and journey into Oneness.
This book is great for anyone wanting a great explanation of Ego and Soul. I especially like it when Gwen Randall-Young has given real-life examples, comparing how we might first act or react from the ego, and then how we could transform the situation to a soulful approach. Good Work! I enjoyed it!
- This is a great read for anyone wanting to explore spirituality and the role that the mind plays.

5 comments about Simple Things (Hay House Lifestyles).
- I recently read the book, and like a previous reviewer said, this is definitely the kind of book you read one part at a time. Its a nice book, and like Jim's music its very personal and not complicated. I hope he will write more books in the future that are more "insightful" - I think Jim Brickman is an interesting person..
- I bought this book while he was in town for a [store] opening. I have seen him in concert twice. I immensely enjoy his music - especially "Picture This" - and the album "Simple Things" is no exception. So I was interested to hear what he had to say.
I have no problem with his lack of qualifications - he's quite honest about that at the beginning. When he talks about his family, life on the road, or about how he started his career in music, it's delightful. The quotes at the end of each section are enjoyable too. He gets a little preachy with some of his sections about "slowing down" and "enjoying life". I also get bored when I hear people ramble on about "the way things were". What knocked this review down from four to three stars is his obsession with food as a cure for depression. A couple times he mentions that it's okay to eat a full pan of brownies or a whole tub of whipped cream. That's not advice he's qualified to give, plus it could give people an excuse to overeat. It's a good purchase if you enjoy his music and want to learn a little more about him. In and of itself, it's not all that original.
- As befits its title, the book is an easy read. You could leisurely read and enjoy it on a plane or train ride. And I agree with finding something simple (such as brownies) as a "pickmeup" when you're slightly down.
- M. D. Gray, author of "Smilosophy:Getting More Smileage Out of Life" , heartily recommends this book. This is a book that will enhance the readers view of life and living. In addition to the book, there is also the music cd with the song "Simple Things" on it that packs a powerful message.
This book takes the reader down to real life. The readers of Simple Things are brought face to face with the issues that matter, many thoughts are shared about the common issues and things of this life. I highly recommend this one.
- I live a very complicated life, full of stress, and devoid of time. So when i received Jim Brickman's book for a gift I thought there would be alot of usefull information in it. There was, but I don't have the time, or the money to do most of what was suggested. Most of the advice seemed to be targeted at people who are already succesfull. Like I said, the advice is wonderful, but often clouded with Mr. Brickman's pathological name dropping. Every chapter teems with quotes and annecdotes starring famous people that are all apparently "good friends" of his. Also hard to get around is Mr. Brickman's self hype. First of all before I read this book I had never heard of Jim Brickman Author, Composor, or Musician (and I try to keep up with a little bit of everything), yet he refers numerous times to situations where he was recognized by average Joes while out in public (or by George Clooney while walking around his Los Angeles Valley neighborhood, name drop). I'm sure Mr. Brickman had the best of intentions when he wrote this book, but how about giving advice to the little person on how to simplify their life. You know, the type of person who's worries amount to a little more than the noise level in their favorite juice bar.

2 comments about How to Keep Your Man.
- Lucky you if you are female: if so you have it ENTIRELY in your one-sided control to have a blissful life of happily ever after love with the man of your dreams.
The measures propounded in this book DO work, but be forewarned: they are EXTREME. Probably only sadder but wiser women in middle age will be willing to try them. But if you ARE just starting out, and want to avoid heartaches and break-ups altogether, take it on faith that the methods in this book are the ONLY ones which work! It is sold under 'humor' because it sounds too extreme to be true. But true it is!
- DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY... EVERY OTHER PAGE SAYS DON'T NAG IN LARGE PRINT..WHAT A JOKE. IT TOOK ME 30 SECONDS TO READ IT AND 2 SECONDS TO THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE.
