4 comments about Signature for Success: How to Analyze Handwriting and Improve Your Career, Your Relationships, and Your Life.
- I had the pleasure of meeting Arlyn Imberman a year ago at which time I showed her the writing of someone I had just started dating. She gave me quite a bit of insight into this person -- including some traits that she thought could be frustrating and disappointing to me. Needless to say, within six months, I began to see some of these personality flaws at play and the relationship ended. Having been made aware of these hidden tendencies, I was far more prepared for the potential problems that ensued. When I heard about Arlyn's book, I rushed to buy and read it so that I could learn more about handwriting and what it reveals. SIGNATURE FOR SUCCESS is a fascinating and entertaining book that makes the study of handwriting analysis easily understandable and accessible to anyone. What a wonderful tool for gaining insight into the people in our lives, as well as ourselves! I highly recommend this book.
- Delightful introduction to the study of graphology. Had fun with the book's readable guide to analyzing my own handwriting and that of my friends and family. Especially entertaining to see the personal writings and juicy analyses of celebrity actors, politicians, rock stars and royalty. Derived some useful advice on how to handle the boss, based upon his handwriting.
- SIGNATURE FOR SUCCESS conveys a whole new level of passion and excitement for handwriting analysis by showing samples from famous people in the most interesting ways. For example, samples of celebrity handwriting are included in sections where readers are asked to choose which person they'd select for job applicants, friends, and lovers... and are then let in on the secret about which famous people those handwriting samples really belong to. Arlyn also shares some real-life samples of handwriting she's received, along with her answers to readers' questions based on her analysis of each handwriting sample.
A wide variety of personality traits are described and displayed that show up in handwriting, including qualities like: introvert/extrovert, honesty/dishonesty, patience/impatience, easy-going/angry. Once you've learned the basics about how to spot warning signs in handwriting, it's amazingly simple to find out a great deal of information.
SIGNATURE FOR SUCCESS is an inspirational gem that is fun to read on many levels: pure entertainment, thought-provoking insights, and self-improvement. I give this book my highest recommendation!
- SIGNATURE FOR SUCCESS is a joy to read. The writing style is very approachable. The content is layed out in a well though out manner which gives a the reader an excellent top level picture to what goes into handwriting analysis. I came away with a thorough understanding of what handwriting analysis can and cannot reveal about a person's character.
Like many of the other readers, I enjoy the part of the book that analyzes famous personalities' handwriting. Since many of us are familiar with the personalities it is fun to see them subject to such analysis and that the traits present in their handwriting seem to manifest themselves in well known personality traits of these individuals.
I recommend this book highlh!

5 comments about Change Your Handwriting, Change Your Life.
- Psychological script analysis or graphology has competition and opposition from many quarters. Psychometric testers claim greater accuracy for recruitment and compatibility studies. Forensic questioned document examiners claim greater scientific rigour than court graphologists. Human rights groups attack graphology as an invasion of privacy. Graphology may upset people because it is considered either insufficiently accurate or because it is too analytical, negative and invasive.
But there is one area where an understanding of handwriting has unique possibilities and that is graphotherapy. It is the subject of Vimala Rodgers's Book "Change Your Handwriting, Change Your Life". Human beings naturally tend to see themselves and their place in society from their own point of view. Graphotherapy helps people to understand their innermost feelings, fears and moods, yet at the same time become more sensitive to others' feelings. Innately we all need to move forward and grow. How to do this on one's own is often not easy. Here Vimala Rodgers's book can be a great help. It outlines a way for readers to audit their attitudes. It presents handwriting exercises which act as focused meditation, helping the reader in such areas as listening, patience, resentment, forgiveness and gratititude. Subsequently, handwriting analysis is able to monitor the extent to which this focused meditation through graphotherapy has changed the way the reader is living. Qualified graphologists will see this book as a useful addition to their library on stroke analysis, but it is much more than this. The book contains a whole-life, uplifting philosopy which takes it outside the specialised field of graphology.
- Handwriting truly is a mirror of our souls. In this excellent book one can find out how to alter the handwriting to transform the self.
- I am unable to write such words that give Vimala justice about how her book has effected my life. All I can say is if one chooses to experience what the book has to offer then your options in life will become greater, your sense of direction will become clearer and life will become more joyous. Vimala is an uplifting teacher and incredible mentor.
- Not only have I read this book and her latest one as well (Your Handwriting Can Change Your Life - March, 2000), I have studied under her since 1995. She is as giving, intuitive, passionate, and honest about her work as she comes across in her books.
Many studies have validated that handwriting is brain writing. Therefore, by making healthy handwriting changes, these changes will be displayed through one's personality. Vimala, however, is the only person I know who has actually developed healthy writing strokes that focuses on building character and making personal transformations. I highly recommend this book and her new book.
- The author is not giving total or complete information on the subject matter.

3 comments about Graphology Explained: A Workbook.
- Barry gives a nonspeculative and fundamental approach to the entire process. From analyzing basic form and layout to writing a final report on a sample of handwriting. Since reading other books about graphology, I have come to appreciate Barry's basic conclusions and thorough step-by-step guide to overall analysis. Highly recommended ! ! !
- I received this book for Christmas and it is layed out perfectly! Especially for me- a beginner. There are pictures on every page and Branston explains things to the fullest extreme. If you are into graphology or want to learn more about handwriting analysis just for fun, this is the book to get!
- This is the worst example of graphology I have ever seen, in my life. It would take this man weeks, no -- MONTHS to make heads or tails of my personality based on the information provided. First of all, he could probably tell you what you are like if you have extremely abnormal handwriting. His studies are based on comparison -- this book might as well be shelved with the tea leaf reading or tarot books you could find at the library. The biggest problem is that his samples were created solely for the study. The subjects gave samples they knew would be under scrutiny. The result turns out to poor: a tense and defensive group. He fails to see the big picture. He doesn't point out what makes a certain sample revealing of a person, he says that a person is great at penmanship in figure 59, but not that the person also has a short temper. He misses the greatest part of graphology: that a person's handwriting changes throughout their letter. He is more likely to give you an example of their strangest writing rather than their most common writing. Sigh, I am disappointed that I have read books on graphology 40 years older than this one, and more accurate.

- After reading just about all the most popular tracts on Graphology one has to say that this 456 page tome is the most complete in content and the most thorough in explanation and examples. Yet it is also an inviting page-turner filled with lively side boxes called Tales from the Quill, Fine Points, and Chicken Scratch! This a serious but light-hearted treatment of a complex but enjoyable subject.
Though Sheila Lowe is obviously an expert she doesn't tout herself as a know-it-all. Instead she uses frequent quotes from other experts in Handwriting Analysis and even recomends some of their books for additional study. She keeps her wit and sense of humor throughout, is not defensive, and is not trying to oversell the product as a miracle cure or a get-rich-quick scheme.
Ms. Lowe started as a 18 yr. old student and studied long and hard, including courses in Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. After becoming Certified, she specialized in Forensics and Consulting. She is ubiquetous on the Web...just Google her name and you will get over one hundred results!
The section on the History of Graphology is detailed and includes nearly all the major players in the field, from 1621 to the present. Sheila's coverage seems unbiased but there is a definate emphasis in the German or Gestalt Method (big picture and surroundings) rather than just the French Atomistic Method (identifying traits through specific letters and strokes) but the Graphoanalysis (business) movement is left out. This is not a big detriment because she is comprehensive in explaining all the important elements: size, presssure, rhythm, slant, strokes, space, zones, borders, style, speed, connections, etc., and their corresponding personality traits...both positive and negative.
There are informative sections on Self Analysis, Graphotherapy, Legal Aspects (privacy, testimony), How to Write a Personality Profile or Professional Analysis, Computer Programs, and Ethical Considerations. There are lots of examples of the handwriting and signatures of famous people (and infamous characters), an excellent Glossary, Index, Bibliography, and list of Schools and Organizations.
In summary, this is a hefty volume but would make an excellent choice for the beginner or a great textbook for a teacher or group leader. The author's accomplishment should go a long way toward making Handwriting Analysis as acceptable in America as it is in the rest of the world. By studying (not just reading) this book, and pracitcing your skills, you will learn a lot about the amazing science of Graphology...and also about your true inner self (not just the mask we present to the public).

- the bottom line is that unless you REALLY know what your doing you can easily misinterpret things. not a good idea. its interesting, but dont take yourself to seriously afterwords.
- As with most of the Idiot Guide books, this book sounded much better in theory than it was in practice. First of all, it only demonstrates the bare basics, and while it certainly examines those basics in depth, it is still a rather slim offering. The book is also terribly organized. It jumps around from individual letters to strokes then back to an individual letter and back and forth. It is neither user-friendly nor particularly enlightening. Furthermore there are not enough picture examples of the traits discussed. To make matters worse the few examples provided are BLURRY and appear to be PHOTOCOPIES taken from other PHOTOCOPIES. While it does a decent job introducing one to some of the basics of handwriting analysis, it falters when it comes to equipping the reader with the basic skills needed to do a proper analysis. My last concern were the little "tip boxes" and "anecdote boxes" on almost every page! They were so scattered and didn't always apply to the topic on that particular page. It saddens me to think of how many beginners have been turned away from this valuable hobby by the poor organization and planning in this book. Shop around on Amazon and you will find much higher quality books on handwriring analysis by trained experts in the field.
- I really enjoy this book. I think it part the sense of humor and part that she covers everything you might want to know. I have even taken her recommendations on other books to add to my collection. It is easy to get them here at low cost. :)
- The book was pretty eye opening and is a great reference work if you want to get started. The amount of information however is overwhelming and shows that this is a *field* of study for a reason!
As you get further and further though, you can start to guess what things mean (like letters leaning forward means hurried individual, etc.), as they seem to blend together in patterns. Who knows, maybe that is a memory device, but I failed to catch it.
If you're curious about the field, I'd recommend it to you. Just don't try to read it in one sitting. It's a better reference work than a late night read.
