5 comments about The Psychic Pathway: A Workbook for Reawakening the Voice of Your Soul.
  1. After reading this book and doing the exercises I have become a new man!!!I have found my Life Purpose,I have developed my intuition, and am now working as a psychic! Thank you Sonia! Lets see where my powers take me! How psychic can I get? Careful,I may be watching you now as you read this! BOO!

  2. This book is for those who want to lean more about their psychic and intuitive abilities. The book is actually fun to read and informative. By doing the exercises I started to learn more about myself and found that there we things that I was just ignoring because I didn't understand or didn't know about them. Sonia cleared all that up for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to explore more about their own psyhic ability.

  3. I have known I was psychic from birth. My mother also encouraged me to live with my soul. Sonia's books are not only great teaching tools but wonderful inspirations for when you just don't think you are doing your best.

She reminds us that even when we have a bad reading or a down day, that there is always hope. I simply open this book and whatever page it falls to, amazingly its the answer or inspiration I needed to get back on track.

Thank you Sonia - keep writing and building us all upon the psychic pathway!

  4. Loved it so much I read it over and over. I meditate a lot easier now and I tried the pendulum and it really works if you ask the right questions. I would recommend this book to anyone who is spiritual.

  5. I really enjoy Sonia Choquette's writing. This is an enjoyable read, however I felt like I had passed the middle of the book without even feeling any psychic developmental benefit. I learned life lessons through this book, which is something incredible to say about a book, but for a book on psychic development, I like something with more structure and techniques. I felt like Sonia talked a lot about metaphysics and then at the very end tacked on a little bit about psychometry. There was absolutely nothing about giving psychic readings. But perhaps I was misguided to expect that. Anyhow, I would recommend this book purely due to its interesting writing style and subject matter, but as far as a guide for psychic development, there are other books out there with more structure and techniques, like Debra Katz' You Are Psychic: The Art of Clairvoyant Reading & Healing and Extraordinary Psychic: Proven Techniques to Master Your Natural Psychic Abilities. Still, I think Sonia is a gentle soul and that you could also gain from reading her book.

5 comments about Final Exit (Third Edition): The Practicalities of Self-Deliverance and Assisted Suicide for the Dying.
  1. Chris had everything to live for except some financial troubles. He became infatuated with this book and died yesterday with it by his side.

A brilliant inventor, Chris prided himself by being self-taught by reading books.

The rest speaks for itself. If you see a friend or loved one with this book, get them help ASAP

  2. The world will be a better place to live when the author of this book finally takes his own advice to heart.

  3. This has a discount, but I've read it's important to get the updated addendum info like the helium kit, which does not look like it's included here.

The ERGO site has the addendum included with the book. You can also get the addendum separately.

  4. If you are looking for an easy way to die, this book doesn't give it to you.

  5. I have always believed that I should own my own body, even when it comes to deciding when it is time to die. As a mature adult, I should be allowed to make my own life-ending decisions. Laws in the U.S. being what they are, this can be hard to accomplish. Final Exit is a wonderful book and explains what may be difficult to understand. It also gives examples for those of us who know little about the procedure.

5 comments about Love Yourself, Heal Your Life Workbook (Insight Guide).
  1. I bought the whole "Heal Your Life" series, including this workbook. Its selfhelp, an interactive guide to start or continue your healing journey. In this one she tells her story and how she over came her past. My story is similiar, as I am sure most people that buy this book will say. It's a hard read (too many tiggers), but if you are serious about healing your past it's a great tool to have.

  2. This workbook is filled with awareness exercises that can help a person immensely with their healing process. The exercises are designed to find limiting beliefs so you can create affirmations to clear the past and welcome the future you want. You can also do the exercises more than once and find new insights. I require this book for all my Heal Your Life training students.

  3. Don't buy this book, if you already have main text. It is not worth it.
All the same info and work sheets are in main text. This is just a duplication.

  4. This book took over a month to get to me, should have refused it. Will never order from them again. And Amazon did NOTHING!!!!!!Very disappointed on the service I received from both Amazon and seller.

  5. This workbook has totally changed my way of thinking, and therefore has altered my life in such a way that is positive and I am so glad I happened upon the Oprah show in which she was speaking about her book, I recommend it to anyone who has stress in their life. Or just want to be able to get through the day to day 'stuff' that surrounds our society these days!!

5 comments about Learning from the Heart: Lessons on Living, Loving, and Listening.
  1. This is an extraordinary book. Honest and caring, it distills a broad sweep of psychology, philosophy and religion into clear, honest human terms. Dr. Gottlieb translates the mystery and jargon that often obscure professional discourse into something directly useful. There is not advice so much as something more important, which is acceptance. This book gives us permission to sit with what we feel, and be OK with it. In my opinion, his life experience gave him a perspective and a compassion to be admired and emulated, no matter what hand life has dealt us. Buy this book, you will be glad you did.

  2. If only the majority of the human BEINGS would learn, practice and listen as it is shared in the book, what an awesome world we would experience!

  3. Daniel Gottlieb's LETTERS TO SAM was one of the best
books that I've read over the past few years . . . so when I
saw that the author came out with something new, LEARNING
FROM THE HEART, I rushed to get hold of it.

And was I ever glad that I did . . . I was hooked after
just seeing the cover and the subtitle: LESSONS ON
LIVING, LOVING AND LISTENING . . . Gottlieb, a practicing
psychologist, presents this information via short
essays on a wide variety of topics . . . best of all,
he brings in his own personal experiences and openly
    shares them.

I especially liked his view about not always having to be
    best in everything:
    * I've ended up feeling a great deal of gratitude for my failures. Of
course, there are people who don't believe me when I tell them
I belong in the last seat in the second row. They challenge my position
by reminding me of books I have written and the many wonderful
accomplishments I've been fortunate to achieve. Over the years I have
learned that there are some aspects of my humanity--perhaps my
kindness and my ability to understand others--that probably belong
in the first row. But there are many other aspects of Gottlieb that belong
in the last row--technical skills, attention span, and
    memory (to name a few).

Gottlieb also got me thinking about how good life can be--and is--when
he related this account of a friend's visit:
    * I do believe in coincidence, and I was involved in a quite a fortunate one
when my friend Amy came over to visit just two days before that phone call.
At one point, she asked if I believed in heaven. Without giving it any thought,
I said, "Yes. You're in it right now."

I saw the dazed look on her face that I often see when I make proclamations,
so I went on: "What were the chances of that sperm fertilizing that egg and
producing your life? And what were the chances that you would have lived all
the years you have lived in relative good health? And what were the odds that
you would have so many people in your life whom you love and who care
about you? And what were the possibilities that you could look out of almost
any window and see the beauty of nature? Heaven? You bet."

Of course, my version of heaven is not the perfect one we read about in
mythology or that many believe in. There is great pain and suffering and loss
in this particular heaven. But deep inside, most know it-heaven, life-is
precious. It just takes some careful noticing.

Lastly, the author had me laughing when I read passages such as this
    one:
    * Even trauma like my accident carries good news and bad news. I suffer,
still get frustrated and sometimes depressed, and yet there is good news
    about being a quadriplegic.

The good news about being quadriplegic?

Well, first, there is the obvious--great parking spaces.

Then, think shoes. I don't have to spend a fortune on comfortable shoes,
and they last as long as I want them to.

But the great news about quadriplegic is that I don't have to get up to pee in
the middle of the night. So, in the middle of the night tonight, when you are
sitting or standing. I'll be sleeping. (And they say I have special needs!)

On a serious note, this disability has helped me become the man I am. The
image I have carried for nearly thirty years is that when my neck broke, my
soul began to breathe. Because of my differentness, I have not been
intimidated by my need to be like everyone else. I might not have become
the man I am today were it not for this trauma.

After reading LEARNING FROM THE HEART, you'll feel like you know
Daniel Gottlieb much better . . . in fact, in reading it, I thought I was
having a one-on-conversation with him that made me realize that
if I was ever in need of a therapist, I'd certainly want to seek him out.

  4. Dan Gottleib, host of Voices in the Family and author of this book is a true inspiration no matter who you are, what you do or think. I can't recommend this book or advocate listening to his show enough. Voices in the Family.
    [...]

  5. i loved it, and think it is a useful read for anyone who needs a reminder of what is important in life.

5 comments about Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming.
  1. I really liked this book. It was very helpful and I had my first lucid dream on my second try.

  2. LaBerge begins where his first book, LUCID DREAMING, left off, by recapping exactly what lucid dreaming is: the mind realizing that it is dreaming while the body remains asleep, producing a far more vivid dreamscape, one that can be controlled with enough practice.

The book is first and foremost a user's guide: how can we access that wonderfully altered state called the lucid dream? Drawing upon his own research at the Lucidity Institute at Stanford University, as well as techniques drawn from psychology and Tibetan dream yoga, LaBerge has dozens of suggestions for entering the greatest themepark in existence: our dreaming brains. We dream about one-third of our entire lives, so why not make use of this time to enhance the quality of one's life?

LaBerge provides a great deal of sound psychology behind his explanations and techniques, explaining the basic reasons why all humans dream in the first place. He acknowledges that lucid dreaming may be used for pure enjoyment if we want experience adventure, pleasure, or romance. Likewise, he notes that lucid dreaming can also be used to embrace our darker sides (as Jung suggested), turning darker dreams and nightmares into learning experiences to enhance self-knowledge and confidence, ultimately producing personality integration. Additionally, lucid dreaming may be used to practice for athletic or artistic events of any kind. There's simply no limit to the applications of "waking dreams."

LaBerge goes beyond these applications, however, to more serious considerations, showing that lucid dreaming can have the same type of transformative effect on people as near-death experiences if we surrender our egos and allow the dream to take us where it wants instead of trying to always control it. It is in these exciting chapters that we see lucid dreaming as a tremendous technique to reach states of higher consciousness without gurus, how-to books, or seminars. It's all right within our brains.

Some of the techniques are very simple, such as "reality checks" during the day, when we ask ourselves whether or not we are dreaming. Others are as easy as autosuggestion or keeping a dream diary to increase dream recall (very important in all techniques). Other techniques get a bit more involved and can be frustrating (although LaBerge has since manufactured several kinds of dream masks worn at bedtime which detect REM sleep and signal the brain that it is dreaming via tiny blinking lights that do not awaken the dreamer).

Other metaphysical aspects are discussed, such as whether or not the physical body can be healed of disease if the dream body is healed since lucid dreams tap into the brain at a very deep level. And can we share lucid dreams with others or make contact with other dreamers who are aiming for the same dream traget on any given night? LaBerge even notes that he has had at least one precognitive lucid dream that probably saved his son's life.

The practice of lucid dreaming has become more popular over the past decade, but this book remains the most reliable source of information on the phenomenon as well as the best place to research ways to enter the lucid dream state.

It's probably the finest, most comprehensive book on dreams that's in print.

  3. Consider this affirmation:

"The next time I'm dreaming, I will recognize that I'm dreaming."

The problem with this self-referential, paradoxical, circular reasoning, is that, when you "wake up in a dream," you do NOT think, "I am dreaming now, so what was it I was gonna recognize?"

That's why you would need the last part in the first place. You need to recognize your dreaming FIRST, before you can prepare yourself for what to do when it happens.

Instead, I would recommend you ask yourself while AWAKE, "Am I dreaming?" At every hour. Contract that habit and soon it will reside in residual droppings in your dream.

Also get into the habit of flipping lights on and off. It won't work if your dreaming.

  4. I've only had one lucid dream so far and it was before reading this book, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of the techniques presented. But I can say two things. One, the authors seem to know what they are talking about and have plenty of experience with the subject matter both from personal lucid dreams and scientific research and the book brings that across loud and clear. Two, this one is written from a scientific and not a metaphysical perspective. The authors believe all altered consciousness is a lucid dream and there is no such thing as out of body experiences. I'm fine with that and will be making my own decision, but there are others who believe we are out of our body every night and that all lucid dreams are actually OBE's to some extent...or at least that true OBE's and dreams overlap. I think both views are important for making your own decision. There is no doubt true OBE's happen at least to those who have been Near Death. Whether they can be induced apart from lucid dreams is another question which I haven't answered. Good luck.

  5. The book is one the reader's best tools both for understanding lucid dreaming and for holding one's own experiments. Laberge has conveyed the complexities of sleep research in a way that is both entertaining and easily understood, without omitting the necessary details of his Stanford research.

  1. Very helpful in teaching which foods to help up your metabolism and use as fuel more efficiently. Also helps you to know which foods are less healthful and to limit them. Rapid Start program helps a lot.

  2. Sorry, but for such a critical hinge to success being 'getting in touch with this' and 'knowing pivotal things', I'm destined to fail with this book. I just don't know what he's wanting me to look for and the few answers I gave turned out to be 'what it doesn't mean'. Holy cow, he should include a copy of his psych degrees for us to borrow till we get through the program.

  3. This is an OK book. Pretty easy read and it doens't take a rocket scientist to decode it but it is just OK. Kinda long at points but he does a good job at putting it on the common mans language. I ahve read better books like "Body By God"

  4. I found this book put together so that it's extremely hard to find any particular food that you're trying to figure out. I can't use it as a reference, which is what I wanted. I've totally given up on it. I need all the foods listed in alphabetical order with all of the information stated. This book does NOT accomplish that. I expected much more of it/him. Totally wasted my money on this one.

  5. ...is so you can enjoy many more healthy, productive years watching his trashy train wreck show.

5 comments about How to Be a Great Lover: Girlfriend-to-Girlfriend Totally Explicit Techniques that Will Blow His Mind.
  1. This is a great book! Fun and easy to follow. I have gotten compliments and I've even shared it with a friend who's boyfriend has also commented on the improvements/excitement the book has created.

  2. This book is definitely one of the best books I've read for those who want to improve their relationships. It's not only a book about how to do things, step by step & with pictures, it also gives you a perspective that you don't expect. This book is for those of us who aren't experts in the bedroom or want to add variety in their sex life. I would recommend it to women everywhere.

  3. In my not-too-distant past I peddled adult novelties. I've sold books such as this as well as having read my fair share, if only to offer ideas to frustrated housewives and girlfriends alike. After receiving this book, I got through the preliminary chapters quickly enough and did end up learning a few things from the later chapters, but nothing too earth-shattering. That being said, if I were purchasing my first or second book for sex advice, this would definitely be in the running. Ultimately, if you're looking for new, different, and exciting, this might not be the book for you ... but if you want good, solid guidance beyond the basics, this is a great option for you.

  4. The techniques for pleasing a man in this book are very explicit, and I for one appreciate that. A lot of esoteric language about communicating and getting in touch with our feelings is not exactly what I was looking for. I think it's great that women want to give their man a mind-blowing time in bed. In fact, the best thing about that is it makes him more willing to reciprocate. If he isn't willing, then perhaps it's time for us ladies to take responsibility for our own sexual happiness. Try reading Five Minutes to Orgasm Every Time You Make Love: Female Orgasm Made Simple, and become responsible for your own orgasm. These two books together will make for a great coupling. Even better, add this book to the mix, and you will be spending the rest of your lives in bed together: The Sensuous Couple's (Flip Over) Guide to Seismic Oral Sex!

  5. My husband and I really liked this book. It was informative and respectful toward the subject. Very good for those who value intimacy in their relationship, but enjoying keeping it private from their friends.

Lou Paget has many other books we own: How to give Him Ultimate Pleasure, as well as a Hot Mamma Book (about keeping intimacy alive during pregnancy).

    She is a great author.

5 comments about When Generations Collide: Who They Are. Why They Clash. How to Solve the Generational Puzzle at Work.
  1. This has been very enlightning to look outside one's own generation. Awareness is half the battle. Excellent resource.

  2. Anyone who has managed people from different generations can relate to the notion that different generations prompt people to have different ideas about how the world works. That may be a given, but when it rests on a manager's shoulders to keep the team productive or on course with corporate goals, having insight into the component members' behaviors is a very useful tool. I've managed the generation born during World War Two, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and my kids represent the Millenial generation. Believe me, there are distinct differences.

This book attempts to catagorize generations, not to promote stereotypes and to put people in boxes, but to highlight how common experiences can mold people. True, there are socio-economic differences (I am in the same generation as Caroline Kennedy, but aside from that our experiences are vastly different), but being in the same age group does create bonds among people. Values change over time and those values are what shapes people's ways of thinking.

The manager's job is to manage; to get the work done given the employees at hand. If we could pick our own teams we may not select those people we have on staff, but aside from professional sports teams, most managers can be more or less stuck with what they got. The manager is expected to make the best of things. If the manager can't do this, it's easier for the company to find one who can.

Lancaster and Stillman present an interesting argument in how generations are defined, and what their expectations of careers are. The savvy manager will read a book like this with an open mind and use the information presented herein to learn to work with staff for the mutual benefit of all involved. Of course not all managers are savvy, or even very intelligent. Those who could benefit most from a book like this will probably never read it. But then again not all companies are successful in developing people and market strategies. These companies may not be around to get a second chance at success.

This book is well thought out and well presented. Some of the chapters, such as the chapter on rewarding employees may be a bit off the mark, but that doesn't hurt the overall message coming from this book: understand your staff and learn what makes them tick. Your company will benefit.

  3. An excellent and easy read with plenty of real-life examples that demonstrate the writers' experiences while lecturing, mentoring and
    consulting with businesses.

  4. I saw David Stillman speak and was fascinated by his insight on how the generations are struggling to work together. It really gave me a greater understanding of my 20 year old son, what influenced him and where some of his priorities came from. The theories are spot on and the examples are amazing. This is a great read for an open-minded parent who really cares what his/her child is really thinking about. Also helps with understanding and appreciating our parents. Not just about workplace issues, incorporates life experiences and insights.

  5. I could not finish reading this book. Boring, without much substance, full of gross stereotypes and generalizations, this is at best an article. Somehow authors managed to stretch it into a book. Way too long, fails to engage the reader. They run courses on this topic, if they talk about the same stuff in the same way, I can imagine what that must be like ... I'd prefer a root canal job, thank you! Pass.

5 comments about Psychic Development for Beginners: An Easy Guide to Developing & Releasing Your Psychic Abilities (For Beginners (Llewellyn's)).
  1. Knowing nothing about this subject, I reviewed several books to see which could help me the most. This is the book that had the most straight forward and usful information. I highly recommend it. I haven't finished it yet, but hope to do so soon.

  2. the very 1st exercise in the book is a formula for self sabotage and destruction. Hewitt has you take an elevator 'down' to your dark side. he calls it your 'lower self'. he cautions you against getting off on those floors. he has you seal off and lock that part of the building and throw away the key.

First, your dark side is not 'down' or 'lower'. it's side by side with the light side. it's part of everyone's balance or ballast. an essential part of your being. if you repress that and disown it then you are cruising for big trouble. you need to acknowledge and process your dark side. sealing it off and repressing it will give it a life of it's own.

don't take my word for it. Debbie Ford has covered this brilliantly in "Why Good People do Bad Things. How to Stop Being Your Own Worst Enemy". quoting ... "There are many disowned aspects of ourselves that can and will act out autonomously, whether we want to believe it or not." ... "When ignored, they become powerful forces that can act as independent entities.". that's how we sabotage ourselves. instead accept and process all aspects of your being and use them to make choices. always try to avoid toxic shame and repressed tendencies.

Hewitt is one of those "Make the world a better place" moral authorities like straight out of the silva method. feel free to disagree with him (or me) on those points.

Want to develop your psychic ability? acknowledge it and start using it and trusting it and relying on it. start meditating to calm your mind. your psychic ability doesn't require you to know any secret techniques. make your own.
**** use your imagination for this. if you come up with your own techniques, they will be more powerful for you than someone else's because they come from inside of YOU.

  3. I had been searching for a book that would help me develop my psychic abilities. This one fell into my lap when I was reaching for another book at my local book store. It was an easy read with easy to follow exercises to help develop your psychic awareness. It is a great beginning book to get you started and it only gets better from there. Amazing results!

  4. This book didn't help me at all. Maybe it was me. It was well written but I couldn't put what was in the book to use.

  5. Anyone giving bad reviews either isn't patient enough or just expects the book to do the work for them! That won't be accomplished with any book. EXERCISING TAKES EFFORT THAT'S WHY THEY CALL THEM EXERCISES!
I was 16 the first time I tried many of the exercises in this book and while I had a very difficult time with some I found some to be surprisingly easy.
Yes, it is aggrevating not to be able to see images in a crystal ball the first 40 times you try, but it only took me about 3 tries to develop the magnetic feeling in the healing hands exercise. I can't find my book right now (since I've recently moved) or I'd be able to give the exact name of the exercise.

I bought this book the year it was released. The cover has since fallen off but I refuse to get rid of it. I have many underlinings and notes inside.
The exercises will work but it takes PRACTICE whether you use this book or any other. This book is my absolute favorite! Please ignore the bad reviews by people who are too lazy to take their time.

5 comments about The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage.
  1. EVERYONE should read this book! Ladies, it's a great follow-up to The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands. It has saved my marriage and changed my attitude!

  2. If you want to improve your marriage, buy a book from someone who is qualified to talk about the subject. (She isn't qualified ... don't believe me? do a quick internet search.)

  3. I waited a long time to get my hands on this one! It was very very good! I have loaned this out to family and friends!

  4. I love Dr. Laura. I am an ex-feminista, reformed Socialist and voted Republican for the first time in 2004. See what you have to look forward to when you wise up?
I was on her show about 6 years ago and I actually MADE HER LAUGH! This is a very exclusive club I belong to.
I am finally in a loving, nuturing relationship for the first time in my life and I give her and her books a lot of credit.
My husband and I took turns reading a chapter a night to each other. We both became invested in this book and in "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" doing this.
I used to work as a housekeeper in a very exclusive, "snooty" Pac-10 sorority.I would find soft-bound copies of Dr. L's "10 Stupid Things...."at garage sales and thrift stores and leave them in the common rooms and lounges of the house ...they disappeared like free candy. I like to think Dr. Laura made a difference in the values and attitudes of girls lives that hinged on peer pressure, status quo and PC.Of course, all those little sweeties in "women's studies" programs and classes would NEVER admit that they had read anything by her. Ha.
This woman could revolutionize relationships, child rearing, family dynamics, morals and the trickle down effects of having them if people would put away their egos, attitudes, politics and entitlement issues and pay attention. Make it real.
Yay you, Dr. Laura. I recommend everything she has written and espouses.
    Thank you for your time.

  5. Background: Dr. Laura seems to believe that life was just rosy before the feminist movement began (and I am happy for her aunts and her mother, since they must have been doing OK to give Dr. Laura that impression). She is a staunch believer in 50s-style traditional gender roles as the answer to today's problems.

Cons: See above. A lot of Dr. Laura's advice just won't work unless the wife stays at home or has some little, low-stress part-time job. It over-generalizes, patronizes men, and puts the burden of making a marriage work on women. She recommends wives participating in sex whether they feel like it or not, but offers no corresponding advice for men to help their wives free up a little time for loving, or even the practical suggestion that making sex good for their wives would tend to yield more nookie for them. On the flip side, men are encouraged to work like crazy with no concern for balancing the need to make a nicer living for their families against actual family time or health or quality of life.

Also, as pointed out elsewhere, Dr. Laura really is 'Mother Laura', as she refers to herself at times. Her advice is just her advice. Her doctorate is in psysiology, and her counseling certification is lapsed. Just so you know.

Pros: Any book that helps people see and focus on their own shortcomings is going to help their marriage. Advice to be nicer to each other can't go wrong either. That's not new information, but what Laura Schlessinger does is illustrate that we're often meaner than we realize to our spouses and she points that out in a way that we can't shrug off or dismiss. That may not be worth $17, but the book will be available (used) for less in fairly short order, if it isn't already.

Conclusion: The book isn't fair to men or women. Unless you buy into Schlessinger's world view, it's hard to even read the thing. But it's worth slogging through if you are a grown woman who can filter through the bad and the ugly to find the items of value. And if you are a decent woman married to a decent man and you want to treat your spouse fairly, there is value in this book.
Men should probably only read this book if they are able to see Schlessinger's advice as applying to both parties, or they just want to be told that they're pretty great people (even if fairly simple -- her words, not mine) and that none of their marital problems are their fault.
