5 comments about Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don't.
- I was very satisfied with this book. I wanted something that would practically give instruction as to how to achieve results with the law of attraction and this book is it. It doesn't get into all the philosophy of it, but there are other books that do that, which is what I wanted. Great instructional book, easy to read, and doesn't take a lot of time. I especially liked that the worksheets could be downloaded from the author's website.
- The book is easy to read and very practical.
I am thankful that the author took the time to write and share with all of us.
- Losier's book is a good introduction to the Law of Attraction(LOA) for those who appreciate a more practical step-by-step approach. Its easy to read and I think Losier's worksheets and examples are helpful in breaking down more abstract concepts in a way that everyone can relate to. If you have any skepticism, about the LOA this might be a good start. You will see value in beginning to organize your thoughts about what you want and how you feel about those things. On some level, though, you do need to accept the workings of the LOA. Losier may gloss over these in an effort to reach a broader audience, but he does credit Abraham-Hicks for much of his inspiration and information, so the next step would be to go directly to the source and then your understanding of, and ability to use, the LOA will really take off. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could.
Note: Many have criticized this book for its short length, but content is what matters. For the price, it is good value if you are new to the LOA, after a short read, you'll know enough to start "using" the LOA, which is the whole point.
- A great guide to learning what and how to use the Law of Attraction. I believe he covers alot of territory and of course, there are many books out there on this subject since The Secret brought this to the forefront.
I have also read Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook another guide using the interactive workbook approach with all its many exercises reinforces and helps one follow the Law of Attraction.
- A great source of information on the Law of Attraction and how to apply it. An Easy read and feel it has helped me to attract that which I want. Also another book Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook has guided me through its workbook, exercises and journal. Also a must read.

5 comments about What Every BODY is Saying: An Ex-FBI Agent's Guide to Speed-Reading People.
- I am a 33 year police veteran. I have extensive background and use of body language. This book is Okay but not the best!
- Excellent book. Could be very helpful if you are in a situation where you need to know if the people you are dealing with are honest.
- I found the wording and writing in this book easy to follow and understand with clear and precise easy instructions to follow told in such a way that keeps you interested and wanting to read more.
C Carr
- I enjoyed this book. The author seemed to have a more scientific background than some of the other books I read on this. The reasoning behind WHY we make certain movements was interesting, and the fact that he worked for the FBI makes me more inclined to use his analysis. Fun to read as well.
- This fascinating book is a guide to the nonverbal communication people use in everyday situations. It comes from the FBIs analysis of nonverbal clues that telegraph untrustworthiness and deception. The author's goal is to help you understand and decipher body language in every day situations so that you can better understand people, whether they know it or not. A section of the book explores the brain and the limbic system, which is the source of involuntary signs that people demonstrate in response to their emotions. All in all a good look at a specific element of reading people.
If you're looking for a complete guide to reading and responding to other people, I absolutely loved a book called The Personality Code

4 comments about Freakin' Fabulous: How to Dress, Speak, Behave, Eat, Drink, Entertain, Decorate, and Generally Be Better than Everyone Else.
- First, I must admit that I NEVER miss "What Not to Wear", and I LOVE Clinton and Stacy. That being said, this book IS freakin' fabulous, freakin' fantastic and freakin' FUNNY. Clinton does display his sense of humor to a degree on the show, but he is wickedly, deliciously hysterical in this book--all the while giving terrific, useful advice. If you love the show (and even if you don't), this is a MUST read in this genre. You will have a blast--AND even learn a little something!
- I laughed all the way through this book. Clinton is hilariously funny in this book, and it makes for an enjoyable reading experience. The humor is very tongue-in-cheek, but the advice is very real.
A must have for Clinton Kelly fans!
- This book is AWESOME! I got it after a fashion show Clinton was hosting (and got to meet and even have him sign it!). Im a fan of WNTW and not only does his book talk about how to dress, but also how to carry yourself with some couth, cause let's face it, even if you "look" put together, one's demeanor can totally ruin the whole package. He has tips about entertaining, recipes, decor...you name it. But the best part is enjoying his dialogue...he is SO HILARIOUS!!! A must have book if you are even remotely a fan...
- This book is not what you expect! I love Clinton Kelly on What Not to Wear, but that is not this Clinton. This book is a mess! It's a stream-of-consciousness commentary on whatever Clinton happens to be interested in. The style of writing is very witty, but that is not enough for a whole book.
To give you an idea of what's inside: there are 48 pages of Fashion advice. That's it. The rest of what you're buying is 21 pages of grammar advice, 33 pages of etiquette, 47 pages of recipes, etc. (Clinton is not a chef.) There are nice pictures, but the subjects - a full page picture of hollandaise sauce on meat, a full page picture of a roast chicken, a full page picture of a French omelet. You get the idea.
This book is not fun. It's not informative about fashion or style. There's just no meat to it (except in the lame recipe section).

5 comments about Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness.
- I bought this book in the middle of a year-long battle with insomnia--not the typical life-changing trauma that brings many others to this book, but insomnia destroyed me both physically and emotionally. My doctor suggested anti-depressants, and a friend suggested Full Catastrophe Living.
I never touched the anti-depressants.
Jon Kabat-Zinn is the voice of calm all throughout this book, never imposing his method on you but simply making suggestions that he's seen work in his practice, both personal and professional. The first section offers mindfulness activities that you can immediately put to practice: meditation to help separate your self from your thoughts; a body scan to simultaneously connect you to and release you from every section of your body; and yoga to strengthen your muscles and flexibility, both physical and mental.
The second section shows how those methods have been proven to work, through both scientific research and anecdotal evidence. It is a section for those still reluctant to give themselves over to what they may perceive to be the "new age" or "weird" practices in the first section. If you've been practicing as suggested in the first section, the second section will verify to your head what you feel moving in your heart and body.
The third section offers a variety of lifestyle and anecdotal advice for specific ailments and disease, from insomnia to headaches to cancer. Through all this, Kabat-Zinn is at once compassionate and scientific, speaking to and reassuring all shades of his audience.
Together, these sections taught me to listen to and have faith in myself. The book showed me that mindfulness is not some new-fangled craziness but a path to peace and self-knowledge. Eventually, my sleeplessness went away, but that was more a side-effect of the practice, a natural reaction to the peace I learned from myself through this book.
- I am about half way through this book - it was a little bit of a culture shock to get into this way of thinking and acting, but I am enjoying the challenge and think that it has already got me thinking about how I deal with stress and everday events - I have been dealing with some serious medical issues, and need to reduce my stress - I believe this will help - the psychologist who recommended it to me thought very highly of it and was convinced I would benefit from it - I think I will....
- The book is very detailed regarding how one stress clinic helps their clients. The author has some very good points, but is long winded.
- this book is a classic. it is a readable, deep, and broad presentation of information that is relevant to anyone trying to live mindfully during these frenetic times.
- This book truly speaks to the mind, body and soul. It is the FULL TILT BOOGIE! Am on the mend thanks to this wonderful book of wisdom. It was recommended to me by a dear friend who always has one handy to share with onother suffering human being. I plan to do the same. The breathing lessons have been so valuable and restoring...I can continue to live my life with mindful presence, making each day better than the one before. Thank you Jon Kabat Zinn for sharing your wisdom and essence of life.

5 comments about Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life.
- I first read this book some years ago and was quite struck with it, and for a while I was enthusiastic about using the four questions. The problem was that after a while I knew that I was really getting anywhere because there would always be more thoughts to be questioned and I simply didn't have the time or space to spend my life scribbling away day after day. Also the turnarounds felt a bit forced and nothing much changed in my life. The problem with this 'system' is that it isn't practical and that it seems to offer some vague hope of enlightenment; that one day you will find 'the ultimate' turnaround and then you will be just like BK, on cloud nine, never getting angry, at one with everything. This is totally unrealistic and not actually desirable. Maybe I approached it the wrong way because I wanted to 'get something out of it'. The point though, is that the four questions miss the point - whether a thought is true or not isn't the point, and nobody can live not believing in anything and turning everything back to themselves, and that's why I think the work is a bit silly and possibly a bit dangerous. If you want to read something more balanced and sensible, and in my experience a lot more effective, please try Come to Your Senses by Stanley Block. His theory is a step up from whether something is true or not, because we are so much more than just a set of beliefs or non-beliefs.
- This book helped to change my life in such a positive direction, I've bought it on CD (something I don't normally do because I can't stand audio books) and now, in paperback form. I've checked it out from the library many, many times. It really is *that* good.
I can't say I've actually done The Work on paper. I do it in my head (not something she recommends, I don't think), but it's just as effective for me. You don't have to read this book from cover-to-cover to reap benefits. You don't have to devote hours to doing the introspection. If you want to leave your past in the Past, but practice thinking in ways that improve the Present and Future, this book is just as useful.
I am truly grateful for this book's existence. It's one of the three books I'd take with me if I had to escape my burning house, simply because I sometimes need gentle reminders and it is very good at being just that. I have recommended this book to several friends (and burned copies for them) and they've all felt it helped them.
I hope it benefits you, as well.
- I have been working to become more present in my life for the last six years, ever since reading "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. His books, "The Power of Now" and "The New Earth", have led me to powerful insights into how I create pain in my life, but it wasn't until being introduced to Byron Katie's book, "Loving What Is", that the pieces really began to fall into place.
I began doing "the work" three weeks ago, shortly before my daughter went off to college, leaving my husband and me with an empty nest. From the first day on, I was able to challenge my thoughts of grieving and loss and see where I could go from this point on. I have been greatly energized by the process.
I also found it helpful to listen to the audio book in conjunction with the written format. I learned more from hearing Katie do the work than by reading it. [...]
- For me, I found this book helpful. Her 4 step process has stuck with me, and I hear her voice asking those questions in my head.
I feel the book has helped to bring me peace. Hope it may do the same for you.
- I get so much more from a self-help book when they have lots of real life examples. You'll find your faulty thoughts in the stories of some of the people interviewed in this book and she'll walk them/you through the way out of those thoughts. How cool.

5 comments about How to Win Friends and Influence People.
- This book will make you a million bucks just like it has me if you follow the very simple rules for relating to people.
- How reading a single book can change your life!
It's true, when I was 16 years old I (like many others I have now found out since then) read my first book about business. I was drawn to it in a small, old fashioned book shop that's no longer in business. At the time I didn't really know any entrepreneurs or people that ran their own business and I had no mentor to point me in the right direction. The book simply "spoke" to me and I grabbed it and bought it.
Weird stuff. Especially as at the time I was a quiet, shy sort of a guy but in my heart I had a burning ambition - I just didn't realise it yet!
The books name was "How to Win Friends and Influence People" - You must have heard of it I am sure but I hadn't at the time and I would say that `personal development' was not the juggernaut it is today.
It changed my life (for the better) - it gave me confidence in general and more importantly it lit a small flame to start my own business that grew and grew until I did just that two years later at 18 years old.
So what you may say, plenty of people have done that! Well it was quite a shift for me, my father only ever worked for 2 companies his whole life and I was expected to go into a life long job myself in biotechnology or something similar - certainly not to waste my `brains' on cleaning offices and cars!!
The book made me change me outlook on life completely - it made me `think' that I could do anything I put my mind to doing and it also gave the courage to get over my shyness at key moments in my life.
It was the start of life long reading habit (before that I couldn't be bothered with reading and we had very few books in my house as a kid) - even to this day 20+ years later I still go and get a few books on a topic if I want to learn something new.
Also, I have adopted the strength to face all my fears `head-on' since then - when i felt anxious about public speaking I got a few books and tapes and learnt until I was pretty good at it, the same for selling, marketing, finance, hr, technology, programming, manufacturing, teaching, training and on and on.
I became curious about other people and looked for the `good' in them and I feared nothing and no-one. I strived for my goals and I achieved them all.
I am trying to illustrate the power of the written word along with a great (if a little dated) book. Also, I want to reiterate the power of personal development as a whole. Today many run down the idea of personal development and it's many offspring.
Personal development is just like this book - you should read and learn and then apply the principles that you believe in to your life.
You must take action on the one's you believe in and you must apply your own moral standards and integrity to anything you learn from others.
For my part I have read this book many times and bought a few copies as well as the tapes, now CDs, it's time for a refresher for me and i urge you to listen to them if you haven't already.
- A lot of it is common sense, but things we tend to forget. Book came in great condition and came quickly.
- How to Win Friends and Influence People is a rare self-improvement book because it was first published way back in 1936, and it still remains one of the most popular books out there. It's basically a handbook for understanding people and relating to them effectively. Some of the advice is absolutely basic and absolutely the types of things we are easy to forgot. By putting behaviors such as refraining from criticism, expressing sincere appreciation, smiling, and remembering names front of mind, it's truly amazing to see how it transforms the way that people respond to you. Anyone will benefit from this book, but those that will benefit the most are otherwise competent individuals who are less than successful because they lack people skills.
The other outstanding book on the topic that I highly recommend is The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book
- Great common-sense information but presented in a refreshing way. This book contains valuable information you can use in all your relationships - professional or personal.

5 comments about Younger You: Unlock the Hidden Power of Your Brain to Look and Feel 15 Years Younger.
- As the majority of our society strives to keep going and not allow age to slow them down-The Younger You shows in detail how to feel and look years younger with simple and healthy tips from the inside out.
- This book is a complement to the Edge Effect. If you want to feel better, look better and increase you health, this book along with a good doctor will make it happen. Don't forget you have to also give 100%. It will happen as I am living proof.
- A few years ago I read The Edge Effect and got impressed with the work of Dr Braverman. Now in "Younger You" I found even more evidence that feeling younger... and getting younger is a feasible option for just about everyone. Each of us can reach for a longer and healthier old age by applying what Dr Braverman outlines in such eloquent way.
The AgePrint worksheet in this book is incredible useful and directs you immediately to the core problems or pauses you may have in aging. To go beyond what is in the book, I found it useful to download the more elaborate AgePrint Worksheet from www.pathmed.com.
Reading this book made me feel younger and has changed my priorities!
- One will understand this book much better if he or she has read Braverman's over book, The Edge Effect: Achieve Total Health and Longevity with the Balanced Brain Advantage. This book covers how different Chemical species effect health and how one can alter their body's biochemistry.
- From: BasilAndSpice.com
Don't we all wish to not just appear younger, but to also feel younger?
Younger You promises to help the reader unlock the hidden power of your brain to look and feel 15 years younger. The author, Eric R. Braverman, M.D. is the director of the Place for Achieving Total Health (PATH) Medical Center in New York. Younger You has received positive comments from notable doctor-authors: Nicholas Perricone, Isadore Rosenfeld, and David Perlmutter.
Younger You is broken into 6 parts:
1. Your ageprint--you're only as old as your oldest part. Disease occurs in stages so catch problems early with suggested ultrasounds for proper treatment. Braverman recommends the usage of bioidentical hormones; supplementation--zinc, fish oil, and others; follow a diet rich in fruits and vegetables; exercise. This section includes ageprint quizzes to help the reader identify problems within the body and begin him on the path to wellness.
2. Your brain as the key--lack of dopamine, a brain-produced chemical, lowers energy, affecting the rest of the body. Braverman explains the correlation between the brain and obesity, offering several possibilities of solution. The seven stages of cognitive decline, the loss of GABA, and the relation of Serotonin to happiness are pointed out and effective methods to counter undesirable conditions are discussed.
3. The overworked cardiovascular system--referred to as "cardiopause" by Braverman, it is the slowing and aging of the heart. An estimated 700,000 Americans will have a heart attack this year. Braverman asserts that the condition can be reversed. The top five risk factors include family history, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol.
4. The modulating systems--includes thyropause (the weakening of metabolism), immunopause (the inability to fight infection)
5. Aging Sexuality--relates to, hormones, menopause for women and andropause for men.
6. Your Aging Frame: Bones, Muscles, and Skin--bone and muscle loss are not inevitable, but must be addressed instead.
Key concepts of Younger You:
* Conventional medicine is equivalent to an assembly line, only viewing parts of the body for treatment, rather than using an integrative whole-person approach.
* Virtually all illness and disease can be detected from the outside.
* When one part of the body fails, it signals an aging code to the rest of the body, which responds in kind.
* Each part of the body has markers for aging. These are the warning signs.
* Diagnostic testing pinpoints the aging code of every organ.
Throughout Younger You, Braverman shows the reader which natural supplements and their dosages will help for each condition/disease. He also suggests new research to support testing. A good example from p. 166 "Minor leaks of protein in your urine (albuminuria) is an early indicator of stroke or heart attack." Interspersed, Braverman also refers to various types of food, explaining how certain foods benefit or harm the body.
Considered to be a book about wellness, Younger You is also about antiaging. It represents recent discoveries in research which can be directly applied for life-saving benefits. Younger You helps the reader find out what his/her real bodily age is and understand how to act on this knowledge.
Just released as a paperback, Younger You has been made more affordable for everyone to reap the benefits of Dr. Eric R. Braverman's knowledge.

5 comments about Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out.
- Easy read and inspriational. Another book on this topic that I recommend is Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbookgiving you all the tools to find the happiness you want. Also a must read!
- Wonderful book showing you all the steps to find happiness...definitely reminds me of Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook also guiding you to finding happiness thru the Law of Attraction.
- 'Happy for no reason' has to be the best motivational/self help book i have read in ages. Besides 'Feel the fear and do it anyway' by Susan Jeffers, Marci Shimoff get's right to the point. Happiness comes from within. I like a lot of people i know have never looked at happiness in this way.
I asked a friend if they were truly happy and they gave me the answer i expected, "Yes I'm happy because i have.........." It's the same with work collegues.
People are living unhappy lives and masking it with external things. They're happy because they have a pretty girlfriend, handsome boyfriend, nice house, money, nice job, designer clothes etc.......... but what if those things were taking away from them?
Happiness is internal and Marci breaks this down perfectly in 'Happy for no reason'.
Her study on the 100 happy people was interesting.
The one negative thing about this book was the input of 'Rhonda Byrne'. I think 'the secret' was a fantastic marketing and money making tool, it was designed for unhappy insecure depressed down on their luck individuals.
You can read 'Happy for no reason' and close the last chapter feeling no shame or blame. You can look at your life now and make gradual changes everyday to feel happier from the inside out. She informs you of the power of forgiveness, passion and purpose.
The exercises are good too. She doesn't spend pages trying to get you to buy any additional products.
This book has made a big impact on me. I look forward to more books by this author.
- I got this for my sweetheart because she was a bit down. She saw that it I meant well by it but has not read it probably because the last thing you want to do when your depressed is see that other people have noticed it too. If I ever get the chance to read it I'll let you know.
- I had seen the video "Secrets" before I read this book, hoping to find a written reference for most of the material in "Secrets". While the book starts out pretty good, and definitely has some good material in it for increasing your level of happiness, it starts to fall on lame, Pollyannish ideas from the middle of the book and beyond.
Most of the last half of the book contains a lot of "give into a higher power" pap, which requires a lot of mindlessness. I guess if you become mindless, you also will be happier. I'd rather not find out, as I like to use my mind much of the time.
Nonetheless, there are several tips in the book that would allow you to increase your level of happiness a degree or two (on a 10-point scale). Just don't expect too much, and you will be satisfied.

5 comments about Get the Life You Want: The Secrets to Quick and Lasting Life Change with Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
- I recommend this book strongly to anyone who wants to productively develop themselves in every way that counts. Now sure, the title sounds like a standard title that would put you off, but the information (which is what counts the most) is amazing, yet the most simple, time-tested and powerful principle in the world that works, God's/Existence's Supercomputer: The Mind and how to use it right. So, let it be said here, I fully and wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who genuinely wants to better their lives in any way that is rationally possible to them.
Josh Clayton.
- Most books on NLP are poorly written and full of jargon that assumes a lot of familiarity with the field. This is especially true of Bandler's books, many of which are transcribed talks from workshops that he has given.
THIS BOOK IS A GEM. Give it to your friends and colleagues. Each chapter deals with a specific type of problem such as a phobia or post traumatic stress . The chapters are short and sweet. At the end of each chapter, he summarizes the process in a one, two, three list. It is sort of NLP for Dummmies. Hat's off to Bandler. He is a giant of psychology and now he finally has written a book for the masses.
Gordon LaBedz, MD
- I'll admit I've read Nlp books and felt lost... Even though I knew the teachings were sound and capable of changing your thinking. I just couldn't grasp the "practical" side of applying nlp to my life. But this book changed all that.
It's like you get to sit in on intimate sessions with Richard Bandler as he spins his magical web. Not only that, he hand delivers powerful shortcuts to change almost every area of your life. Only it's not with theory and fluff, but simple exercises you can... and will... use to instantly change your mind.
If you ever wanted to experience the full potential of nlp, or your confused about how to apply nlp to achieve personal and lasting growth, then this will be the best nlp book you will ever read.
P.S. Thanks Richard for sharing this.
- Do you remember the last time you read a book that you couldn't put down? Do you remember how thrilled you felt and wanted to read it cover to cover again and again?
For me, this is a huge banquet feast of a book! While you're learning successful hypnotic methods, your unconscious now wants to enjoy this most pleasurable and successful bouquet of techniques, Richard has provided in this masterwork!
I've found that this book is truly a triumph and contains the easiest path to becoming a master hypnotist, as you gorge on extremely effective and simple methods it contains to optimally change yourself, and others, into your maximized relaxed state!
I'm convinced, yes to day is the day you can pick up true inner power with this easy to learn, easy to apply masterpiece!
Very Impressed! Excellent job Richard!
:D
Mike
- I learned about this book from a institute where i get automatic e mails about NLP. I bought it immediately and i am almost finished. I learned some new mantras which are quite helpful. I like the book in general but the exercises seem a bit boring:-) I will read the book again to do the exercises. I believe this book will change my life, it started already.
