5 comments about Inner Talk for A Confident Day (The Fear-Less Series).
  1. I've never wrote a review on Amazon before but Susan Jeffers deserves high praise for this affirmation CD. I got hooked on Jeffers after reading "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" about 6 years ago. That book positively changed my life and was bursting with great information. This inner talk tape is so good I wore out 3 cassette tapes already so I'm very happy to see it is on CD. I never get bored of listening to it. After listening, everything is put back in perspective and you feel empowered to know the affirmations aren't just a pep talk but the confidence you've had in you all along. You will be sincerely happy you bought this CD!

  2. Hi there, not had the cd long, but play it in the mornin to get me in the mood for the day ahead. Plus on a day when I feel a bit stressed out, listen to it during the day as well. Very much a wake up cd than a relaxing one, altho I have ordered the other cd to go along with this one. I feel somedays it works and I no that I also have to work at feelin positive which can be hard some days, but I would recommend this cd to others as a great pick me up and a way with copin with everyday life

  3. I was dissapointed that this cd contained very little in the way of affirmations, making it more of a new age music cd of 15 short tracks. I think that the purpose of this cd would have been better served with the music as a background to affirmations, as opposed to a music cd with an affirmation or two as almost an afterthought.

  4. I love Susan Jeffers! Her book Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway has helped me clarify what is important to me, who I want to be in the world, and the kind of life I want to live. Her works are so congruent with my own personal journey toward wholeness. I recommend that you read the book first. If it resonates with you, then you'll want her three Inner Talk CDs. I listen to Inner Talk for a Confident Day and Inner Talk for Peace of Mind almost every day. They help me achieve inward peace and remind me of what is truly important in my life. I admit that I have only listened to Inner Talk for a Love that Works a few times because it's not totally relevant to my life at the moment, but it too is very good. I could go on and on about her books and CDs. I recommend her works for anybody desiring joy, peace, love, and fulfillment in their life. She is practical, uplifting, and hugely encouraging.

  5. I listen to this CD every day. I would prefer different music for the non-talking parts of the CD.

3 comments about Your Whole Life: The 3D Plan for Eating Right, Living Well, and Loving God.
  1. The 3D book worked really well for me. I have arthritis so I wasn't able to really do much of any workouts to lose weight. With the help of this study I lost 25 pounds in three months which I thought impossible. It helps to do it with a friend to hold you accountable for the progress but it can be done alone. Biblestudy with short daily devotionals, charts, hints and tips help you to get the discipline you need to lose the weight you want and become a better follower of Christ.

  2. It works if you discipline yourself to stick with the plan. Having a group participate is helpful. The original version with the workbook is better.

  3. This new edition of Carol Showalter's book is excellent. I encourage everyone to read it and learn how to control their weight and be disciplined in their lives.

5 comments about Practical Guide to Past-Life Memories: Twelve Proven Methods.
  1. I just love Richard Webster. His books are very easy to understand. Practical Guide to Past Life Memories is my favorite book on the subject. He gives you twelve different methods to connect to a past life. I just picked one method to start and it worked! The very first time! You can very easily find your method because there is a chapter dedicated to each one. This book is fun and very informative but not so much where you could get bored. Get this book!

  2. Loved this book. It has easy examples to use. Good combination of regression scripts to use and case examples. The book moved along in an enjoyable pace!

  3. Many people believe in reincarnation, myself included, but also, many are skeptics. Here is a chance for everyone to understand better those moments of dTja vu. Believers will have an easier time of it, but skeptics may just learn a little something along the way too, if not more so.

Richard Webster is a hypnotherapist and lecturer on many psychic topics. He is the author of over thirty books and is seen in many circles as a guru of the paranormal. In "Past-Life Memories" Richard gives us twelve proven methods of accessing the memories that are hidden in our brains.

By way of explanation of past life memories, the soul is a continuing energy that enters life again and again. We are here to learn lessons and to grow, but are usually without our memories of past lives so that these images do not interfere with what we are here to do. Certainly you may feel compelled to do certain things, such as staying far away from high places; perhaps in a past life you had fallen to your death from a cliff. But you may not understand your current fear of heights. By exploring your past life memories, you may be able to put those fears to rest and live happier in this life.

There are numerous methods of uncovering these memories, from dreaming of your past lives to scrying, hypnotherapy to spirit guide assistance, but since all of us are individuals, one method may work for some while it doesn't for others. Much like finding a comfortable position in which to sleep, you will need to try different things to see what works best for you, hence, Richard's twelve methods.

Mr. Webster has a wonderful voice in his works. He is knowledgeable and respected in his understanding of these topics; authoritative, yet he is gentle and convincing, a true teacher and guiding spirit. If you are interested in learning how to uncover your past life memories, this is the man you will want to learn from. The text is easy to understand and the lessons clearly written. I enjoyed reading the case histories that accompany each method of regression.

For anyone yearning to uncover the meaning behind an irrational fear, looking to see if their soulmate is involved in their current life, or wonders why they are drawn to certain places, this is the book to help you through it.

  4. I read the book and was interested -- the author did manage to avoid too many mentions of Edgar Cayce and Shirley MacLaine, both of whom are instant turn-offs for me when the subject of reincarnation come up. However, most of the twelve methods are basically self-hypnosis. I was hoping for a little more than that. It's not a thumbs down but it's not a perfect 10 either. I rate it average.

  5. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and found it very hard to put down. The technics outlined are very simple and easy to follow, although I haven't had any success yet. I am hopeful with practice it will be no time at all!

5 comments about The Secret of the Shadow: The Power of Owning Your Story.
  1. i love this book, i'm 26 years old, and i have been doing alot of soul searching, this book has open my eyes about myself, how i am holding myself back because of all the stories i tell myself

I highly recommend this book to you

  2. This book is amazing! If you lack motivation or direction in your life, you will most definitely find it here. This is one of the best motivational and inspirational books I've read so far. It was so great in fact that I keep it handy so that I can refer to it as often as possible. Read it, you won't regret it!

  3. I love this book. Thank you Debbie Ford for being the vessel for this important work. You are a brilliant healer.

Anyone looking for guidance on shining light on the darker secrets of their lives will really benefit from "The Secret of the Shadow." If you're in a recovery program of any kind, this book will clarify some of the more difficult steps and ease the emotional discomfort that arises from working them.

What I love most about this book? Debbie Ford's fearless honesty. She shares details about her life that most people on this planet would never own up to while standing in front of their own mirrors. And her exercise on making amends is assigned with the appropriate amount of tough love. "We want to be careful not to approach this task by asking, 'What's the minimum I can do to get off the hook?'" she says. "Instead, we want to look for the action that restores our own integrity within ourselves."

Admittedly, I'm still getting to that point. But I know if Debbie and the people she interviews in her book can do it, I can too. A reassuring read and beautifully written.

  4. I think what I like most about this book is how succinct it is. If you're having a dark night of the soul, and dealing with the shock of realizing who you really are, as opposed to who you have robotically been in life, this is a definitive book on the subject.

While reading it voraciously, I had many lightbulb moments which touched me in crucial places. I suggest you read the whole book, cover-to-cover, as written. It is valuable even if you might not be ready for all of it, such as putting an end to blaming, or even if you're not currently in a place where you are able to objectively see that whatever happened to you ("your story"), no matter how traumatic or painful, served a purpose in your life; it took you along a path you NEEDED in order to get you from there to here. Even if you cannot see those gifts at this time, even if you are still deeply steeped in that pain, read the book, for it offers hope; you can and will eventually reach "the end."

My only complaint is that the book's themes seem illustrated using oddly weak scenarios. For instance, the traumatic experience that one person could not seem to get over was that her mother forgot to pick her up from school one day. Now, far be it for me to seem unfeeling, but I'm thinking there are much more substantial traumas in life, and if you're drawn to this book, your traumas probably go much deeper than such example. In addition, said victim wrote her mother a letter describing the incident, and the mother supposedly wrote back with a sincere, heartfelt apology. How many of us who have been deeply disturbed at the soul level by our parents/family/loved ones/friends, would actually receive such a response? If you're in a dark place in life, with disturbing memories and traumas to relive, chances are your perpetrators will, rather than apologize and "let the healing begin," defend their actions and make excuses for them. My point is, this poorly-chosen, offensive and unsatisfying illustration sets up an unrealistic expectation for the reader, especially for anyone newish to soul work.

Other suggestions for shadow-themed books are Mandala of Being by Moss and Why Good People Do Bad Things by Hollis.

  5. This book will change your life. Guaranteed. If you have any kind of sadness, shame, fear, regret, etc... in your life, this book will help you get to the root of the cause, shine a light on it and help you to accept it and finally have peace in your life and so much more!!! I gave a copy to my Sister. She was in such emotional distress, and had been for years, that it began to have phsyical consequences on her health. She told me yesterday that this book has transformed her life. She said it's like her distress was as big as the Grand Canyon and it has been filled completely with dirt and there's not even a crack left. Amazing!!!

5 comments about The Power Of Personal Accountability: Achieve What Matters To You.
  1. A clear and demonstrative guide to recognizing the personal traits that lead to failure and building the actions that lead to success. One of the few business books you will actually want to read more than once. Highly recommended.

  2. This book is phenomenal! I have used this book for my own personal process to get unstuck in certain areas of my life, and it is powerful. Getting out of the victim loop and into the accountability loop feels incredible...I feel more alive and excited about my goals and dreams for myself. And, as a coach, I recommend this book for my clients to read and use, a valuable tool to stay on track with their goals. Sophie and Mark created such a simple process, and yet, so complete. This is a must have book!

  3. This books makes it clear how "accountability" is the antidote for feeling victimized...and more. If you find yourself asking, "Why me?", then read this book to learn how to move from hiding and denying, into owning, forgiving and taking action. "The Power of Personal Accountability" is a way to set yourself free by getting rid of bad habits and thoughts, and then holding a powerful intention to create the life you want. Very straightforward and easy to read, this book is a winner both at home and in the executive suite.

  4. Concise straight forward well organized presentation with general illustrations and examples easy to understand and to apply to real-life situations.

  5. I just read this book as well as the more recently published Creating the Accountable Organization and highly recommend both. Now more than ever before, the issue of personal accountability is critically important to all organizations (regardless of size or nature) and will become even more important in years to come.

In this volume, Samuel and Chiche present a number of insights whose foundation is what they call "The Personal Accountability Model." It can guide and inform efforts to live a deliberate life, an accountable life, one in which professional success and personal happiness are interdependent rather than mutually exclusive as is so often the case. Samuel and Chiche come across to me as being clear-headed idealists and warm-hearted pragmatists. They suggest that people usually resist accountability because of three fears: of blame, of failure, and of success. They examine each of these fears and suggest how to overcome them. They also identify and examine various "rewards" to those who are personally accountable. It is important to keep in mind that both those who resist holding themselves accountable are often the same people who (if not resent) resist being held accountable by someone else. Hence the importance of "buying into" the potential rewards. This is an especially important point for supervisors who are required to hold others accountable for their performance. They must understand various fears and respond to them appropriately, especially in terms of body language and tone-of-voice. Also, they must help those entrusted to their care to understand why holding themselves personally accountable really is in their own best interests.

I was especially interested in what Samuel and Chiche have to say about the "Victim Loop" from which so many people seem unwilling and/or unable to escape. Those who select the "Accountability Loop" proceed through a sequence of recognition, ownership, forgiveness (of themselves as well as of others), self-examination, learning, and eventually taking appropriate action. Those who select the "Victim Loop" proceed through a sequence of ignorance, denial, blame (usually of others), rationalization, resistance, and ultimately, they "go into hiding." They must then cope with the consequences of that choice...and many do so by choosing to repeat the same sequence,. They are indeed "victims" but voluntary ones who continue to suffer from self-inflicted wounds, real or imagined.

Readers will appreciate the care with which Samuel and Chiche examine a series of very sensitive, potentially volatile situations in which there is a significant breakdown in communication or a loss of trust or a sense of betrayal. Those who accept personal accountability make every reasonable effort to resolve disagreements and even significant conflicts. They fully meet all of their obligations. Their word really is their "bond." In negotiations (whatever the given issues), they do everything they can to reach a mutually beneficial, "win-win" conclusion. Of course, those who accept personal accountability are often confused and perhaps enraged by those who can't...or won't. Samuel and Chiche's sensitive and sensible advice on this familiar situation (all by itself) is worth far more than the price of their book.

Those who share my high regard for this book are urged to check out the aforementioned Creating the Accountable Organization as well as James O'Toole and Edward E. Lawler III's The New American Workplace, The Workforce Scorecard co-authored by Mark Huselid, Brian Becker, and Richard W. Beatty (Huselid and Becker also co-authored The HR Scorecard, another fine source), Dick Grote's Forced Ranking, Leigh Branham's The 7 Hidden Reasons Employees Leave, and Workforce Crisis co-authored by Ken Dychtwald, Tamara J. Erickson, and Robert Morison.

5 comments about Passionate Presence: Experiencing the Seven Qualities of Awakened Awareness.
  1. When I think about the teachings in Passionate Presence, the word that comes to me is RELIEF: Relief from the burdening belief that one must make a prodigious effort in order to live an awakened life; relief from the burden of ideas of what an "enlightened" person should be like; and relief from the burden of believing one's "I" stories. Once the reader understands the concept of letting go of beliefs, explained so artfully in early chapters, the qualities and experiences that are described in the rest of Passionate Presence are immediately available.
Catherine Ingram's lovely images and stories entice the reader back to the awareness of the moment. She has crafted an artful companion for one who desires to live in the mystery and beauty of an awakened life.

  2. This lovely book shares the wisdom of a teacher of silent meditation and Dharma Dialogues on awakened awareness. It is truly food for the soul.

Catherine Ingram describes her personal experiences in seeking and finding peace in the Now. While mindfulness meditation was a major path, a spiritual teacher catalyzed major shifts in her consciousness. Ingram now teaches mindfulness, through silence, through shared lessons, and (even through the pages of this book) through her personal centeredness.

Seven topics are highlighted: Silence, Tenderness, Embodiment, Genuineness, Discernment, Delight and Wonder. Each is illustrated with lovely stories of Ingram and other seekers on the Path.

Particularly helpful for healing are suggestions for acknowledging the presence of an inner observer who is detached even in the midst of crisis and suffering; for treasuring each present moment rather than living in the past or future; and for accepting that we need not torture ourselves with guilt and remorse because each of us has a lifetime of lessons to learn - and each experience offers us opportunities to develop deeper compassion for others who have their own lessons and make mistakes that may impact negatively on us. We can fester in negative reactions to life that is past or in our anxieties about our future life - or we might just let go of the negativity and move on to the ever-present Now.

I was surprised to discover this book was immediately helpful in finding a stronger connection with my own center of quiet awareness.

There is also a pleasant current of practical advice.

I warmly recommend this book for a good read and re-read.

  3. After reading Passionate Presence, I realized that living in the past & future was such a waste of energy! Catherine's straight-forward advise is something so obvious, but something most of us miss....live in the present. You can't go back and change the past and you spend needless time worrying about the future and what might or might not be instead of enjoying what is right in front of us. I do know that I will spend less time worrying and more time enjoying what this wonderful world has to offer and not take things for granted. Thank you Catherine for providing such a simple but honest eye-opener.

  4. I am now reading Passionate Presence for the second time, savouring the language, the feeling and the freshness of the author's approach. I strongly recommend this book to all who agree in principle about living in the 'now' but for whom the experience is elusive at best. This is authentic, well crafted and a joy to read.

  5. Having just complete the Eckhart Tolle book, The New Earth, this book is exactly what I needed. It provides the practical application I felt Tolle missed, and it brought back the presence of the heart, which I didn't seem to find with Tolle. Perhaps it's just a cultural difference, but for me he is a bit too focused on the intellectual concepts.

5 comments about Saddle Up Your Own White Horse: 5 Principles Every Woman Needs to Know.
  1. This is the first self help book I could heartily endorse. Sandra does a great job of sharing stories instead of preaching. She gives outstanding examples of how to create your own happiness, self confidence and put yourself first. She is funny, smart and sassy and keeps the reader begging for more. Great resources and links in the appendix.

  2. This was a pleasant surprise. I expected it to be another "women, rise up and take a stand against men" song. Quite the contrary. As a man, I found it equally applicable to both sexes and all men would gain some useful and important insights about women in the workforce.

It's an easy read with liberal use of personal experiences of the author throughout that leaves you feeling like the author is your new best friend at the end. Should be required reading for every MBA student.

  3. This book is such a great read. It is easy, enjoyable and really has you look at yourself and what you are truly capable of. How you can be successful in whatever you want in life and to continue going after it no matter what might get in your way.

    This is a must read!!

  4. Sandra "simply inspires". Every chapter empowered me to become the woman I truely am. After reading her words of wisdom and self reflecting, I owned my life and charged full speed ahead. I am in control.

    Simply put, Sandra simply inspires.

  5. Everyone wants someone to show up and solve all their problems. "Saddle Up Your Own White Horse: 5 Principles Every Woman Needs to Know" is here to fill women in on the harsh reality that is the fact - that just isn't going to happen. Telling women to get up and take control of their lives to create happiness in themselves and stay that way even when things are bad by taking advantages of one's own strengths, it's the encouragement many women need. "Saddle Up Your Own White Horse" encourages a bit of healthy selfishness that will assist many in having a better outlook for their future.

5 comments about Toxic People: 10 Ways Of Dealing With People Who Make Your Life Miserable.
  1. I originally borrowed the book from the local library. I was so impressed by it that I bought a copy of my own through Amazon. This book gives clear descriptions of the different types of toxic people, and specific ways of dealing with them. This is one of those books that you will want to read with your highlighter handy and keep around for future reference. Like death and taxes, toxic people are inevitable. It also gives advice on how to cut off toxic relationships when thing trying to mend them doesn't work. She also asks that you do a self check to see how toxic you are. I can not give enough praise for this book. It has been a major eye opener for me. It has helped me deal effectively with the toxic people in my life and made me realize that I behave in a toxic manner to some people as well. I highly recommend it. psychology, boundries, self-help

  2. Lillian Glass takes a humorous approach to her topic of difficult people. While she defines the characteristics and reasons for a difficult person's behavior, she also gives excellent strategies for how to deal with them. Each of the difficult types are given a humorous name and then a list of adjectives that describes each person. Real-life examples are given to illustrate the behaviors. This book is one of the best on the subject that I have ever read. If you are dealing with people that make your life miserable - this book is a must have.

  3. A library borrow lead me to buying this book. It will become one of my bibles. In need of answers in the area of liars and toxic people this one popped out at me on the library shelf. An angel must have been sitting on my shoulder pointing right to it.

Knowledge is power. Once you can identify the problem and see it for what it is, then face it, you CAN fix it...not before. Lillian Glass has given us a great gift in sharing, with all of us, her hard lessons learned both in academia and real life. I, for one, can't thank her enough.

In addition to answering a lot of questions about the toxic people in my life, I also identified how they have toxified me. I also identified how toxic I have become because of others' toxic influences on me. Now I can fix all of it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

And thanks to the little angel sitting on my shoulder.

  4. I just finished reading this book and will be returning it post haste to the library tomorrow. 90% of what is written in this book I found to be crazy talk. I am a young Christian woman who has come a long way from believing the world revolved around and my opinions, to now believing that no two people view life the same way or has the exact same experiences day to day much less over a life time. I believe, and the author herself writes, one person's toxin is another person's balm. No one is perfect and in life we all experience situations that we categorize in the good or bad tanks of our memory. To place a person in a category of toxic or non toxic is rediculous. I give this book two stars based on the last couple of chapters that talks about being nice to people. DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU. If you disrespect me that is your business but if I decide to do that back to you how does that make me a better person? The Bible says God protects us from our enemies and will make so that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. So what do I need with calculations to tell me how to treat one personality versus another? The only constant is ME and the only person I can control in ANY situation is MYSELF. This book is very outward looking and contradicts a lot of what the Bible speaks on about judging and treating others.

Sometimes it's not about who a person is but where they are in life.
The person I am not is not the same perso nI was one year ago. If everyone I encountered had written me off as being toxic because I was recovering from a bad experience they knew nothing about, I probably would still be in that same state. But when you are strong and confident in who you are as a person you make an effort to help people bring out the best in themselves. Yes, we all have our limits on how much negative energy we can endure, but that is all part of life. One thing we should never do is condemn someone and place them in a box with a lable. Unfortunately, that is all I got from this book. We don't always realize when we're behaving in a toxic way and someone turning the tables doesnt bring that weakness to light much less encourage the person to overcome it. If anything, it does the opposite and reinforces the negative behavior. What I find to work best for me is to be direct, gentle and honest with people. If there is no acknowledgement or change in behavior then yes, I will create a healthy distance and for the sake of my sanity and emotional well-being, remove myself from the situation. I much rather spend my time and energy learning ways to grow and improve on myself than figuring out anotehr person (esp if theyre a stranger I will more than likely never meet again). I rather read a book that teaches me how to bring out the best in me that one encourages the worst to be brought out in me. If you know someone who does possess toxic characteristics bring to their attention gently and in private. One book I would recommend is "Put Your Best Foot Forward: Make a Great Impression By Taking Control of How Others See You" by Jo-Ellan Dimitrius, Ph.D. and Mark Mazzerlla.

  5. I had the misfortune of taking a seminar taught by this woman, and she is herself toxic. It was presented in the guise of helping the attendees, but was actually a commercial for her services. The people I know who worked with her one on one were not impressed, and felt it was a waste of money. Furthermore, she was rude, self-absorbed, insecure about her weight gains of late, and gave little new information that was helpful. She is not the guru she proclaims! Don't buy this book!

5 comments about If You Haven't Got the Time to Do It Right, When Will You Find the Time to Do It.
  1. Unfortunately, I later handed it off to a coworker who was struggling with organization. It's definitely a "read it once" type of book. My disorganized boss continuously comments on my organizational skills, so I've decided to pick up a copy for her as well as another coworker and replace my own.

  2. Occasionally a book comes along that is short, a pleasure to read and truly helpful. If You Haven't Got the Time to Do It Right, When Will You Find the Time To Do It Over is such a book. Mayer has spent much of his career as a time management consultant and he has written a basic primer for those interested in organizing their lives to a greater degree.

Most of us are being required to do more work with fewer people. How to get this increased workload accomplished is a common problem. Mayer asks, "But are we really increasing our productivity, or just the number of hours we work?" He then offers a solution. The key to getting work done is not simply to work harder and longer but smarter! Better organization is a solution. This book is centered on the principle of "save time by wasting less of it!" The author uses his vast experience to offer ideas, techniques, and concepts to save time and use it more effectively.

If You Haven't Got the Time to Do It Right, When Will You Find the Time To Do It Over provides common sense ideas that really work if we are willing to apply them. Being creatures of habit we tend to do things because that is the way they have typically been done. Mayer has boldly stepped out of the habitual routine to find ways to overcome daily obstacles to time and productivity. He attempts to show how time can be saved in "small pieces" rather than in large blocks. He ponders, "Save thirty seconds every five minutes, and by the end of the day, you've saved an hour." The book is divided into two parts. The first part shows you how to organize your workspace including your office, files management and desk. The second part shows you how to streamline your entire business to become more productive and organized.

This is a useful and rewarding book. If it helps you to change only one routine in your life due to its beneficial ideas it will have served a valuable purpose. Easy to read and understand from cover to cover!

  3. The truth is that many of the quick fix techiniques and tips that are given to the many unorganized people as I used to be don't work well for long. I was on a quest to find out how to become organized my self and be part of the select few who seem to be born that way. By following what this books says I have been able to do it. See, many of the things that are believed to help aren't very effective, such as writing down things to do on an agenda that has times written down--doesn't work because its easy to be interrupted and not finish something on the alotted time etc. etc, but these are the foundations of personal organization. I have observed that these also happen to be the things that real organized people actually do. Now they might seem simple, but these book truly brings all the aspects of personal organization together--the three pillars as i like to call them, which with one missing, the other two fall in despair and chaos once again. Master List, Master filing system, and a clean work area--sound simple, it is, but trust me, read the book. Easy read, and well worth your time if you're disorganized--true testimonial form me, I can't stress it enough. My word.

  4. This book is the best book on Time Management and priority setting ever written. I read this book about 12 years ago it helped me organize my day and set priorities on the important versus the urgent.
For example - you put a "1" next to all the items on your to do list that equal the important to your career/success/well-being/etc. The you put a "2" or "3" on the others that are less important. Then you go back over all the "1's" and put a 1,2 or 3 based upon the time it takes to do it. For example - something that should take a short time a "3"; a long time to do - a "1" . Then your "to do" list looks like "1-1" long time to do very important; a "1-3" is a short time to do, but very important; And you do all the 1-1's and 1-2's and 1-3's first before the 2-1's and 2-2's ... get it? Like if pick up laundry would be a "3-1" - it is not important but takes a long time to do (if you are working) and therefore not going to make it to the head of the list. It forces you to think and prioritize and DO THE THINGS THAT COUNT. And you keep a MASTER LIST where write everything .... UNBELIEVABLE!! A SHORT BOOK - and it tells you volumes!!! and it works!!

  5. If you are looking for a simple system that doesn't require you to copy lists, type everything into your computer or become a slave to your PDA, then this book is certainly for you. I'm amazed that more people aren't familiar with this work and I'm lucky to have found it years ago. This book has helped me turn my paper mountains into organized and prioritized accomplishments. It helped me throw out the junk, keep the best items, and develop a system that keeps me organized and accomplishing more. This is a must read for anyone who wants to avoid the fancy books on time management.

  1. If you want to find a supplement to the APA Style Manual on presenting your findings, look no further. This book has many great examples of various figures and ways of presenting findings. I found it very useful in putting together figures for my own research project. The examples are great!

However, this book is not for everyone, if you do not do much research or have little interest in pursuing psychology beyond an undergraduate degree you may not need it. This book elaborates on what is included in the APA Style Manual. If you are just trying to "get by" it is not essential to buy another book. But, if you really want to be thorough, precise, and clear in your presentation of findings - get this book.

  2. prompt service and the book was in very good condition

  3. I just used this book for to create figures for my senior thesis and a poster for a psychology conference. I did not find that this book served my interests.
For creating posters: it only outlined the basics, which were pretty much intuitive; inlude an intro, method, results et cetera. I found better instruction and examples by searching the web. I wanted more information about style and color use.

For tables and figures: the important things you need to know about figures and tables can be found in the APA writer's manual. The only bonus is that there were a lot more examples in this book.

My advice is to borrow this book from a library or friend before you commit to purchasing it - its not worth cost.
