5 comments about Dream Weaving: Using Dream Guidance to Create Life's Tapestry.
  1. As far as quality of writing, this book is simple and easy to read. The writing is clear and descriptive. The stories about the author's life are vibrant and real. They bring a richness to the book and help the reader relate to what is going on with their own life. As far as dreams go, the interrpretations are very authentic and the author truly knows her stuff. Although the jacket cover may not catch your eye, the inside of the book is what counts and I think if you are a spritual seeking type of person you will enjoy this book!

  2. This book is so good! I picked it up and absolutely couldn't put it down! Emily's use of words captivated me in a way I never thought possible. Trust me, this is a purchase you won't regret.

  3. This book is fantastic! I picked it up and absolutely couldn't put it down! Emily's use of words captivated me in a way I never thought possible. Trust me, this is a purchase you won't regret.

  4. The wonderful insights in this book go straight to the heart of life. Emily L. VanLaeys presents an engaging story of her personal and spiritual development, set against the backdrop of compelling dreams. If ever you wondered about the importance of dreams, Emily's book provides dramatic testimony to how God speaks to us every night, and how our dreams help us to stay on course to fulfill our highest expression and good. - Rosemary Ellen Guiley, author of DREAMWORK FOR THE SOUL and DREAMSPEAK: HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE MESSAGES IN YOUR DREAMS

  5. I am already a person who "weaves the dream," so I got more out of this book in encouragement for not letting the day to day challenges of choosing to stay at home with my young son overwhelm my own need for creative reflection. I think DREAM WEAVING could be a terrific resource book for other women struggling to meet the demands of family and a creative soul. Susan Laubmeier

  1. Earth Dreams: Finding Light In The Shadow by environmental preservationist Elizabeth Brensinger is the true and personal story of a woman's vision quest, undertaken in solitude for three days and three nights in a remote Utah canyon. A captivating reminder of the miraculous and meaningful joy of life given to us by the nurturing Mother Earth, Earth Dreams is a powerfully spiritual book with echoes of majestic wild beauty and highly recommended reading for anyone with an interest in metaphysics, spirituality, Jungian psychology, and the phenomena of the "vision quest".

  2. "Earth Dreams" is a chronicle of the experiences of Elizabeth Brensinger as she engages in her "vision quest" and how it affects her life afterwards. The author and several others travel to a remote area of Utah where they receive instructions for engaging in a vision quest. From there each goes their own way into the canyons and seeks out their special spot to begin their spiritual journey. Each then spends three days and nights alone in the canyon.

A well-written account, the author bares her fears and triumphs as she deals with the quest and her journey into her own spiritual canyons, shadows and dreams. Through it all she comes to renew her passion and purpose in life.

A recommended read for people who are interested in the concepts of a vision quest, shadow and dream work, or similar therapeutic devices.

  3. Liz Bresinger's spiritual memoir, presents a humorous, educational and uplifting description of her experience on a Canyonlands vision quest and the more difficult aspect of questing, the reincorporation. This book could be of interest to anyone who has quested or contemplating a quest, as well as anyone interested in the integration of the shadow. The 'Shadow" of the subtitle refers to shadow in the Jungian sense - what Marie Louise von Franz defines as 'the dark, unlit, and repressed side of the ego complex' or, more generally, a name for all that is within that cannot be known directly.

In the first half of the book Brensinger describes the eleven day Canyonlands vision quest. In the second half of the book, we become privy to the author's process of first recognizing the essence of her particular quest experience and then her process of integrating this essence into her life. As the author walks out of the canyons, anger and disappointment and extreme fatigue beset her - an experience different from the joy and light for which she had hoped. Through this she comes to understand that the gift of her quest is the gift of shadow. Shadow, already her unacknowledged companion, will now become her teacher - the vehicle through which she will come to accept her limitations, her human imperfectability, her gifts to the world, her passions, her essential goodness. With the passage of time she sees this with greater clarity and focus. She demonstrates through ceremony, dreams, synchronicities and journaling how she brings light and connection to the qualities of her shadow self. This process of her own self acceptance becomes a gift, in the form of this book, back to the larger community.

  1. This book was given to me as a gift, and I just loved every page. It is beautifully designed, every page has creative artwork and photography. But Every Dream Interpreted is much more than a pretty face and more than just a dream dictionary like the typical dream books. The author poses a question and answer section with unique information such as how dreams can help you solve problems in your daily life, what you can learn about yourself and others from exploring your dreams, and even how dreams can often tell the future.

With the help of this book, I have the knowledge to better understand the hidden meanings of my dreams as well as other people's dreams! My husband, who rarely remembers his dreams, was especially interested in the section on "Tips to Help You Remember Your Dreams." This is a really good dream book, with it's Q&A section, Dream Directory and beautiful design, it's not only a pleasure to read - it looks really pretty resting on your bedside table.

  2. I bought this book after seeing it at a friend's house. The questions and answers in it made it hard to put down (that we are actually paralyzed when we are in dreaming sleep, that pregnant women have certain kinds of dreams at different stages, the most common human dream, what it means if you are chased in your dreams or have sex with someone you don't think you're attracted to and things like that--there are maybe 50 of them). The author researched these things so it is not just opinion or a psychic kind of book like other books out there. Some of those dictionaries tell you if you dream about a chair it means your dog is going to hand you a million dollars or something stupid like that. The dream directory part of the book had all of the images in my dreams in it (except for cars. what could cars mean?). That was interesting because it had meanings from different cultures and time periods for each image, and questions to ask yourself about your dreams, so I never felt like someone else was telling me what my dream meant. It was more personal. Using the first part and the second part together really worked. And the pages are so beautiful people just like to pick it up off the table and look through it when they come over. Great book I will be giving to other people too.

  3. Unlike the questionable dream dictionaries that seem to be popular, Veronica Tonay takes the reader of "Every Dream Interpreted" on a deeper trip into dream interpretation. The book is divided into two broad parts, the first one covers common questions and their answers and the second part covers various categories of dream symbols and their common interpretation. The questions and answers section is a brief, but highly valuable introduction to the study of dreams. Why are dreams important? What are the competing theories of dream interpretation? How do these theories compare when interpreting a specific dream? Dr. Tonay does an excellent job of describing all of this and has a knack for doing so in clear language. She also examines common myths and urban legends in this section.

The part on the common dream symbols includes subsections on the natural environment, human characters, animal kingdom, buildings and other structures. Examples in these subsections include the interpretation of various type of weather, various landscapes, type of water, people you know, different types strangers, mythical animals, birds, etc. Generally these are not actual interpretations but what types of things the symbol typically represents. With this information you can then look at your dream to help determine what it means.

These are not deep, involved interpretations but are basic ones you can use to start to understand your dreams. To get a deeper understanding would require many, many dreams over an extended period of time. "Every Dream Interpreted" is professionally done and keeps a professional tone throughout the book. It is based on Dr. Tonay's years of empirical research and is a recommended read for anyone interested in this field of study.

  4. Every Dream Interpreted is a mystical, as well as scientific view into the world of dreams. Using research gathered by several psychological dream experts, Dr. Tornay explains how to gain insight into self and others. Through four main theories, developed by Freud, Jung, Gestalt, and phenomenology.

The views developed by these researches range from dreams representing subconscious sexual aggression, desires, and fears to simply another state of once awareness and expression.

In addition to theories on interpretation of dreams this author defines the different stages of sleep along with the significance of their importance in maintaining a healthy mental balance.

With the use f vivid illustrations, charts, graphs, questionnaires, and scenarios from actual real life dreamers this book makes it possible for analysis of many types of dreams.

Finally, use of the word every always causes an exception, this is the mystery portion of dream interpretation. Perception of the analyzer, meaning the same dream may be perceived differently depending on which theory used and the dreamer. Recommended as adjunct in psychotherapy, counseling, and any individuals in search of self-enlightenment.
