5 comments about Betrayal of the Child: A Father's Guide to Family Courts, Divorce, Custody and Children's Rights (2nd Revised Edition).
- In short, if you don't know the material in this book, you don't know human rights, (including children's rights, men's or father's rights, and women's rights) as it applies in contemporary western society. If you have yet to emancipate yourself from the radical feminist induced mental slavery, you may not be ready for this book.
I've read several highly regarded father and children's rights books, and find this one by far the best. This book makes it apparent why the most staggering human rights violations in the history of the world are being perpetrated by the state and federal governments of the United States and the United Kingdom, in particular, against their own laws and ratified treaties with the United Nations. It is concerned with no less than government coerced self-implosion, using our precious children as fodder by dysfunctional, deviant, and self-appointed misandrists. Now I finally understand why my children's lives are being ruined and I, as their father, can do nothing to prevent it. My question as to why those sworn to uphold the law in the state of Iowa would intentionally break the law, knowingly ensuring that my children will then be subjected to neglect, and physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, has finally been answered. This book makes it clear why any attempt to protect my children is met with hostility towards me, and additional abuse being forced upon them. And the detrimental lifelong consequences to my children, and to their own descendants, are becoming quite clear. This book is for anyone truly concerned with children, men, women, our society, our descendants, or our future. Unless you find widespread, state sponsored torture and deprivation to humans desirable, I suggest you purchase and read this great work immediately, and then seriously consider taking action to prevent the downfall of western civilization. Thank you Stewart, for your great and noble work for children.
- While being in a city and state that supposedly supports "father's rights", my husband and I are terrified of what we are setting into motion next week- trying to get custody of his daughter.
Despite the fact that his ex is lying about where his child support is going (luckily we have proof), her moving out of state (illegal in this state), changing his daughter's last name, refusing to let her call him "daddy" and the fact that he hasn't seen her in months (those are just the the tip of the iceburg)... there is that doubt. Because she is "The Mother". It seems that unless a woman is on drugs or a mental institution (actually in a hospital, because meds, or refusal to take them, isn't enough apparently) the father is at the mercy of the mother's every bad day. So we go, to possibly spend thousands of dollars, just to make the messed up court system acknowledge a beautiful, bright, six year old girl's right to know her father, any new siblings, and her father's extended family. Maybe. And if this book seems a little "pro-man", and therefor "anti-woman", so be it. There are plenty of "empowering" books for women, why not men?
- I am a divorced Dad and have gone through the Family Court system, unfortunately prior to reading this book. I have raised three children for 13 years; single-handedly and now find myself as an outsider in a custody dispute over my forth child, a 1-year-old son. I must share with anyone (women, men, dads, moms, children) that you must read this book. It is an excellent description of what fathers and their children face in the current Family court climate. Not only describing in a very truthful and non-euphemistic manner the current issues and trends but also how we got here.
One in every two men will face these issues at some point in their lives. However, most are clueless and those that are not clueless, don't seem to care. Even parents (yes, both Moms and Dads) with children who are boys, don't seem to understand just what kind of a position these boys can be in as grown men. How we got here is a sad story of misunderstandings, misbelieves, poor science, poor deduction, and clouded views, but the fact that we are still here despite significant and continually mounting evidence, is truly a shame and one of the biggest, yet "secret" failures, of our society.
If you do not read this book for yourself then read it for your son or any boy that you know will some day be a father.
- This book has been an inspiration to me. It points out what happened, why it's bad and suggests how you should proceed.
I beg everyone to read this book. It should make everyone criticize the courts descisions as well as their own beliefs.
- There is nothing like developing an understanding when faced with issues in life that only serve to confuse and bewilder. Reading this book has helped me understand what happened to me and my children and why. This in turn has helped me deal with the problem from a better perspective. It has also helped to alleviate some of the frustration simply by having a more complete understanding of the nature of the problem. And although it may have come too late to change my situation, I can still use this powerful information to try to help other fathers not yet divorced gain an awareness of lies in wait for them should they have the misfortune of receiving divorce papers. When warned beforehand, it is a dereliction of a man's duty as a father to fail to read this indispensible book.

4 comments about Divorce-Proofing Your Marriage : 10 Lies That Lead to Divorce and 10 Truths That Will Stop It.
- Dr. Linda has written a couple of good books. This one is AMAZING! I've never read anything like this one. She takes you down a familiar path (no matter what your marital status: newlywed, married, divorced, remarried) ...it has to be familiar because she tells so many real-life stories from 20 some years of therapy. She hits us all! I saw myself and my spouse on nearly every page. This is going to be one of those books people buy, read, and then buy another for their "friend" who's going through problems. Make room at the top of the BEST SELLER charts. Here comes Dr.Linda.
- I saw Dr. Linda on television several times and then saw that Dr. Laura endorsed her book. I was intrigued and struggling in my own marriage. So I bought her new book and was so thankful I did. Dr. Linda not only gives helpful advice on how to strengthen marriage but she addresses the way we think about marriage. After reading her book, I realized how much my thoughts influenced my marital behavior. This revelation has literally saved my marraige in that I was thinking divorce. Now I am applying her ideas and seeing my marriage turn around for the better. Just practicing the Five to One Rule has helped. I have begun to Divorce Proof My Marriage! Donna in Carol Stream, IL.
- Everyone married or to-be-married should read this book. Finally Christian based, excellent advise for a troubled marriage. I got excited, could relate, cried, felt overwelmed, and found hope in this book. It is the best advise I have read on honoring my marriage covenant (besides the Bible) in the past year.
- Divorce Proofing Your Marriage by Dr. Linda S. Mintle is a must read for all married couples, divorcees and those who are engaged. Dr. Mintle speaks from a biblical perspective on what is happening in the marriage institution. Right now, Christian divorces are higher than non-believers. The Bible says the devil is out to steal, kill and destroy [John 10:10]. The divorce epidemic has his signature all over it.
Not only does Dr. Mintle point out the common causes for marital breakdown, she offers the only solution to such a devastating event, God. Only God can heal a broken heart and marriage. All things are possible with God [Mark 10:27]. I have read this book several times and always close the book with a renewed strength to honor my marital covenant with God and my spouse. Outside of the Bible, this is the best book I have read on the sanctity of marriage.
If you buy Divorce Proofing Your Marriage by Dr. Linda S. Mintle, you will not be disappointed. It has sound biblical doctrine from beginning to end. Also, if you are in the midst of a marital crisis, visit and bookmark Rejoice Marriage Ministries.

5 comments about Hope No Matter What: Helping Your Children Heal After Divorce.
- What an amazing tool Kim Hill has provided to help children begin to heal from the pain of divorce. As an elementary school teacher I've watched an overwhelming number of children suffer because of divorce. Several years ago my own child faced the reality that her parents were about to walk separate pathways. Many nights I sat down with her to try and answer all the tough questions her little mind was filled with; questions I didn't always have the answers to. What I would have given to curl up beside her and venture through a book like Hope No Matter What. This book facilitates the process of healing via powerful reminders of God's love and faithfulness. I highly recommend it (and the CD by the same title) to any family walking through loss. Not only will Hope No Matter What help your children heal from the pain of divorce - it'll help prepare them for life's other challenges by teaching them to rest in God's arms and the promise of His love.
- Hope No Matter What, Helping Your Children Heal After Divorce by Kim Hill is a very tender and important book. In each chapter, as you read with your children, Kim helps you have words to speak into the hurts, questions and fears most asked by your child. They will know they are normal - and that other people feel the same way they do and other people also need God to help them. If God has helped others, perhaps they can trust Him to do it for them. This book is a comforting book. There are soothing words that will benefit the entire family. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Kim's words will reach deep into your heart.
- When I realize how faithful my niece, Kim Hill, is to being open about herself to the world in a manner that can only come through the power of God's Holy Spirit, I am amazed. Most of us hide or run from being honest about our troubles; even in the church. From the beginning, Kim was willing to give up her music career by going public about her divorce, rather than hide the fact as some were counseling her to do.
In the years since her divorce, Kim's music, and now her writing, have reflected her crying out to God and the peace that she continues to receive.
Her book, "Hope No Matter What," is a reflection of the manner in which Kim is able to minister to others, especially those who have also suffered the pain of divorce. 1 Peter 4:10-1, "As each one has received a gift, minister it one to another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God...If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 describes God as the "God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
I thank God that Kim has chosen to use the comfort she has received from God to help "comfort those who are in any trouble."
This book will be an excellent resource for any pastor or counselor to help a parent in helping their children heal after divorce.
I have given a copy of this book to my pastor.

- This is everything a devotional for kids of divorce should be--short, easy to understand, colorful, comforting and helpful. This is kid-friendly right down to the layout. There are free-form titles and drawings, multi-colored scripture verses, a special space devoted to getting a response to the content, and a concluding prayer that a parent can pray over their child.
This is designed for parents to read with their children. Though it was written with younger ones in mind, children of all ages, and even adults, can benefit from the content. Simple truths, like the ones found here, comfort and encourage when our hearts are hurting.
This collection of 32 short devotions is divided into eight sections. Each section represents one of the eight songs on the Kim Hill CD Hope No Matter What (2002). The CD does not come with the book, but would be worth getting because of the overlapping content.
Each devotion starts with a line from one of the songs. The first song is "Hold Me Jesus" by Rich Mullins. How could I not like a devotional that starts out with the lines from one of my favorite songs?
Stories and thoughts that Hill shared with her children in the aftermath of her divorce follow. It concludes with a verse of Scripture. All of this fills one page. On the adjacent page, there is an attractive space for children to write and draw their response to a simple activity. The book is wider than normal--7 x 9 inches--to provide plenty of space for this interactive section.
It would be easy to breeze through the book quickly, but the recommendation is two or three devotions a week.
I'm not aware of any other books like this. It's a valuable resource for parents and children that have experienced the tragedy of divorce.
- Hope No Matter What: Helping Your Children Heal After Divorce
Kim's unique method of connecting with children is so AWESOME in this book. Hill is so tender in the way she brings God's promise of Peace, Love and Hope (no matter what) to children in the midst of their vulnerability. Each devotion and interactive activity reiterates God's love for us and HIS promise that He will never forsake us-NO MATTER WHAT! How COOL is that!!! We as parents, aunts, uncles, church leaders, school teachers, and friends need to be reminded of this as well as we journey through life's bumps. I have shared this book along with Kim's CD by the same name, to several friends who are in the midst of divorce as they comfort their children. Reading and experiencing this book with your child can bring you closer as you explore God's LOVE for each of you through this most difficult time in the life of your family.

5 comments about Undoing I Do: A Novel.
- Stumbled across this book in the bookstore after Christmas. I was excited to hear places named around Chicago since I am from the North Shore. This book is engaging and of course I couldnt put it down. If you are getting a divorce it does touch some emotional roller coasters couples face.
- This was an amazing debut....I almost didn't pick it up because the cover design screams "Chick Lit," but it's not even close to that genre. I am reading it as slow as possible to make it last as long as possible. It's well written, concise, thoughtful, and poetic.
- An excellent book to show the depths and insanity of staying in a troubled marriage and then a divorce from hell. Told from the depths of hell that cannot be imagined unless you have lived it. I couldn't put the book down until it was done. I suddenly have someone else who did many of the same dumb things in a marriage and a divorce. The story verifies that we all make mistakes, can laugh and cry at the same time, yet live to tell the story. If you don't understand/laugh/cry with this book, it may be because you haven't lived it. And may you never.
Thank you, Anastasia Royal, for a very moving book.
-
I've just returned from an extraordinary trip, in well-crafted prose/poem form, called "Undoing I Do." Anastasia Royal's vivid verbal images are certain to linger in your mind a long time. I think most people could relate to the protagonist's goal of figuring out why a seemingly promising situation has gone so very wrong and coping with the fallout, whether the reader compares the puzzle to something in their own or another's life journey and whether an undoing happened in a marriage or another experience. I cried at the end, and many parts made me laugh or reflect. Along the way, the novel offers not only relationship advice but informative tips like lipstick usage and a simple ice cream recipe. I would give more than two thumbs-up if I had that many hands!
- This is Chicago-based Anastasia Royal's first novel.
When I learned that a friend from 30 years ago had transformed her thoughts and feelings from her own divorce into something others may share, I picked up a copy out of loyalty. I was richly rewarded.
Royal's work has a poignant immediacy which cuts deep into one's own thoughts and memories. Listening to Royal's description of the anticipation, excitement, joy, troubles and eventual grounding of Claire McCloud's love affair with her husband, and Claire's sense of its impact on their two children, chilled me with moment-to-moment fascination. It hurt to recognize oneself in some of the actions and words of Claire's receding spouse, or to hear echoes of women I knew and relationships I had before marriage. That shows how Royal's unflinching Claire finds enough to write about herself (the novel proceeds in brief journal-like entries), her kids and her struggle for anyone who has been close to, in, or fled from, a committed relationship to identify.
Frankly, I think all husbands should read this book. I admit my wife was a bit surprised to see me toting this title around. But on finishing it I recommended it to her as I recommend it to you.
Royal's voice in Claire will help you hear things you may have been missing.

- I have not read this book from cover to cover, but almost! I read it in a hodge podge of this chapter and that chapter, that page and this page. No matter which direction I went, the book was very easy to read and to understand. It is written in regular everyday language. It is a great book. I really enjoy it and have found out a few interesting things as well. The book will be one that women will want to keep handy.
Ms. Phelan D'Isa did a better than excellent job in putting this book together for the average lay-person. Thank you.

1 comments about Arthur and the 1,001 Dads: A Marc Brown Arthur Chapter Book 28 (Arthur Chapter Books).
- "Arthur and the 1,001 Dads" is another in a series of great Arthur TV Storybooks written by Stephen Krensky. In this story, based on a fourth-season "Arthur" television story, Arthur and his friends are worried because it seems that once again, Buster will not be attending the annual Elwood City Father's Day Picnic. (Which, like most "all Elwood City" events, seems to include only Arthur and his friends and family, even though Elwood City is known to be a very large town.) Buster's Mom and Dad are divorced and so he doesn't get to see much of his Father. (That is, until "Postcards from Buster" came along, but this was written rather before then.
Arthur and his friends are stumped about how to help Buster, until they decide to seize upon an idea of D.W.'s that Arthur had previously considered rather dopey. If Buster's own father can't attend the picnic, they'll get him a replacement father, just for that day. This leads to a series of comic misadventures in which they try to find father-substitutes for Buster. Meanwhile, Buster grows more and more irritated at their attempts, as he's told them repeatedly that he has plans, but they just don't listen, especially Arthur.
The following may be slightly spoilerish, but really doesn't give away too much:
There are a few differences between this story and what's shown on TV, but nothing that hurts the story in any way. They mainly revolve around the things that Arthur and his friends try in getting Buster a replacement Dad. In the TV show, the Arthur gang attempts to get Pickles the clown to be Buster's temporary Dad. In the book, they consider the clown idea, but discard it because they feel it would make Buster stick out. Also, in the TV show, the Brain builds the LLAF (life-like automated father) out of parts from the cat he used to trick "Buster - Cat Saver" in a previous episode. In the book, it's called RALF (clever, could be pronounced like "Ralph") and although Buster mentions he built it from a project he was working on, there is no direct-reference to Cat Saver.
Overall, another great Arthur TV storybook offering from Stephen Krensky. Serious and poignant at times, but also with much of the show’s trademark humor.
