1 comments about The Essential Ageless Body, Timeless Mind: The Essence of the Quantum Alternative to Growing Old (Essential Deepak Chopra).
  1. And still makes sense!
I have read a few of Deepak's books, and finally have come out with a belief that he is talking out of his league in most of the books (on happiness and realization etc). But this book is a classic.
Deepak Chopra was a trained MD/Doctor in the east coast before taking on Ayurveda and spirituality as full time job! This is one book where he combines his medical knowledge and spiritual knowledge in right doses and makes a good sense out of that.
He manages to capture the Indian spirituality (the real one behind all the rituals and religions of India), and makes it easy to understand for everyone (including indians like me). The scientific rigor in this book is what is appealing to me.
In all a great read and a few points to take away (for changing your lifestyle for the better).

5 comments about Apples Are Square: Thinking Differently About Leadership.
  1. What I liked most about this books is that it breaks away from the stereotypical leadership book. With most books on leadership, once you've read one, you've read them all--they all discuss the same leaders and the same leadership styles. Apples breaks from this mold--the leaders profiled are unique and have fascinating stories to tell, and the leadership paradigm presented is one I really believe makes sense. A refreshingly insightful read.

  2. After hearing an interview with the Kuczmarski's, I felt that the book might be a very good read. The authors sounded like they had a genuine passion for leadership based on sound values.

Our current negative perception of leadership has been generated by the misconduct and unethical behavior so often revealed amongst the leaders of corporate America as well as government officials. We have seen so many examples of what not to do that it is very refreshing to read this book that tells the stories of 25 leaders who showcase new values-based ways to lead. The Kuczmarski's have thoroughly researched their 25 leaders and have given the reader real life examples of the six critical values the authors deem necessary to lead successfully.

This book is exremely readable and could very well be used as a reality check on our current negative perception of leadership. The Kuczmarski's have shown that there are good leaders for us to emulate.

  3. Everyone who aspires to be come a better leader, whether in business, community affairs, or in other endeavors, should buy this book and read it--several times. All of us will benefit.

The authors show that while great leadership is absolutely essential to better organizations, it isn't or needn't be a highly technical matter. They show that great leaders are easy to find if we know where to look and what to look for. And they show how to do that.

First, great leaders aren't the rapacious, egocentric, greedy bullies who are too often romanticized in the popular culture. Second, they are all around us--if we only where to look and know what to look for.

The formula? Great leaders are service-oriented (toward clients, customers, constituents, colleagues, and emplooyees/subordinates alike, regardless of personal 'status"), collaborative, respectful, honest, and loyal.

Where do we find hese individuals? Not in the limelight. They're too busy enabling others to reach their potential. In other words, they are all around us--if we only where to look and know what to look for.

It's easy to become discouraged about the state of leaders and leadership these days. The Kuczmarskis show us a way up and a way out.

More good news: where do we find hese individuals? Not in the limelight. They're too busy enabling others to reach their potential. In other words, they are all around us--if we only where to look and know what to look for.

  4. I have read many leadership books that deliver the same theories and conclusions, however, Apples Are Square, was a book I connected with from the very beginning and could easily relate to. It had a very refreshing look at this important subject. I highly recommend this book to people who feel the "inner leader" starting to develop and for those who are in leadership roles that need to make changes to move their company/organization forward in the right direction or to realize, they are indeed, not leaders at all.

If you want a book that gives a unique perspective on leadership and can help you become a better leader in your personal life, community and company, I highly recommend this book.

    Alexander H. Perry

  5. If you have ever worked with people who have these gifts it will bring a tear to your eyes. Should you lead others with these talents, thank you. The authors demonstrate the values in their writing. You can do it!

5 comments about A Voluptuous God: A Christian Heretic Speaks.
  1. I was born and raised Jewish, attending an Orthodox synagogue as a child and a Conservative synagogue as an adult. I now live in the mostly Conservative Christian community of Colorado Springs, CO. I never really felt drawn to organized religion and for years I found myself unaffiliated and searching for a spiritual home. For six years, I found that home at Lake Street Church. Bob Thompson's words have shown me the difference between religion and spirituality. They have also helped me to accept Jesus Christ - not as a messiah or savior, but as a rabbi, teacher, and mystic. I have learned to experience God on a personal level rather than as an omnipotent, wrathful, punishing presence.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Voluptuous God, connecting with the essence of Bob Thompson's spirituality, and learning to relate to the concept of being a heretic. I have purchased extra copies to share with friends of like mind living here in Colorado Springs. I highly recommend this book to any and all spiritual seekers.

  2. Being raised a Catholic was a spiritually alienating experience. I tried to live the Word but seeing others in my church being pious in the sanctuary and then being less than Christian in the outer world made no sense to me. So, for many, many years I veered away from Christianity. I never thought a spiritual book written by a Christian minister would help me change my attitude about religion. The chapter 'The Resurrection of Judas Iscariot' literally moved me to tears. I confess I have been in situations where I did not speak out or act upon a situation that required my attention. Several days after reading this particular chapter I came upon a homeless man. He was looking for shelter and food. While I could not give him shelter, I did take him to a restaurant for a meal. I don't think I would have done this had I not read this chapter on Judas. I am now trying to live the Word. Thank you for writing such a meaningful book.

  3. Many years ago I abandoned the Christian faith believing it was obsolete. However, I always said if some new philosopher comes along who can articulate the faith in a way that reconciles it with reason and makes it relevant in the 21st Century, I will reconsider Christianity. Thompson does that in this excellent book.

  4. This book dissents from and defends religion in very different ways than most. It is a masterful treatise on the religion of love, the religion of inclusion, the religion of the goddess, and the religion many of us have lost to patriarchy and intellectual dominance. There is little pious prattle here, rather a statement of the value of all religions, human talents, and dispositions. All are needed to truly solve our problems.

The following summary was used in a discussion with Bob Thompson at Northwestern University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, in Evanston, Illinois, on November 30, 2007. This was one session in a semester-long study group titled, "Why Religion Matters." These notes highlight many passages and concepts but are only a small reflection of the richness of the material and the personal vignettes which illuminate Bob's ideas. We hope that this summary whets readers' appetites to experience the entire book. (Note: references, e.g."p15," are to page numbers in from which passages are quoted)

The Introduction distinguishes religion of the head from religion of the heart. "Religion of the head involves thinking about life's questions in order to come up with answers. Religion of the heart is about seeing our innate and unalterable connection to all others as both the question and the answer" p15. "Religious orthodoxy is the inevitable result of thinking exclusively from the head. The heart is always a heretic, however, and its natural inclination is to upend the status quo...and see the human race as one" p16.

Chapter 1, "For a Good Time, Call God" Asked if he believes in God, Thompson usually responds that it depends on what is meant by God. He cannot agree that God is a separate being with an extreme ego who controls the world. Rather God is a voluptuous ultimate reality which "calls us to laughter, love and joy" p23. "It matters whether we worship a God of distance or a God of intimacy. An intimate God is at once transcendent and imminent , beyond and within. We live in the Divine and the Divine lives in us" p27.

Chapter 2, "What is the Soul?" Thompson also disagrees with the conventional Christian belief that the human soul is separate from God and corrupted by original sin. Rather, "The soul is a drop of consciousness in the ocean of God" p31.

Chapter 3, "Soul Liberty." A preliminary title for this book was "Soul liberty - Meditations of a Christian Heretic." "Soul liberty is the freedom to seek the truth in one's own way, according to one's own conscience" p41. In this Baptist belief, a person may choose any religion or none and is only responsible to God for the decision. The chapter ends with several paragraphs on the importance of meditation, i.e. "opening to the inner teacher" p43. "placing our attention within ourselves," and "recollecting the soul." This work of a lifetime takes "our attention from life's broken surface to an inner truth" p44.

Chapter 4, "Finding God by Subtraction" God is always present but lives in silence. God can be most easily found in meditation, prayer, or even in the awkward silences in conversations. Bob quotes Meister Eckhart who said that "God is not attained by a process of addition to anything in the soul, but by a process of subtraction" p 54.

Chapter 5, "Do you Believe in Divine Intervention?" Does God answer prayers? Is God an activist? Thompson does not believe in a personal God. Rather, "The God I've met is impersonal or transpersonal. A transpersonal God does not seek out individuals by bestowing favor on some while turning away from others" p58. "We need the experience of an enduring presence that lasts an eternity far more than an intervention that lasts a few moments" p59. This enduring, compassionate presence helps us to realize that we are never alone.

Chapter 6, "The Greening of God." The prevailing Western view has been one of patriarchy or the right to dominate the natural world. Now "we are beginning to wake up and see the earth as indigenous peoples have always seen it, as a living organism....Mother Earth, the Great Mother, the Goddess" p68. And God connects everything and is in everything that lives. "Water and air pollution, deforestation, and global warming are all symptoms of a deep brokenness...we must address" p72.

Chapters 7-13 are an invitation to "Be a Christ," but not some distant savior dressed as a king, rather as one who lives a compassionate life. "We live in an eternal now. This is it... Spiritual truth is about fully living the moment we are in" p89. "Ego is the illusion that we are ...separate from each other, and separate from God" p99. "It is more useful to see sin as a condition or state of being in which we see ourselves as literally separated from ourselves, others and the Divine" p103.
Thompson, as a heretic, says we should live beyond the belief system we've been handed. "Real spiritual strength comes...from our own inner authority, the authority of our own experience, the teacher within" p120. ."Christ is the Christian word for the divine energy that connects everything" p122. It is called by different names in Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism and other faiths. It is intoxicating, so "it's not unusual for great spiritual teachers to appear to be a little too happy, giggly or simply `lit up'...Other people seem to light up when in their presence" p 126. "All will be well, no matter what...In our inner-most heart, in the soul, we know there is nothing to fear. And what we all want is nothing to fear" p128.

Chapters 14, "God and Caesar - Religion and Politics." Introduces the concept of the politics of conscience, or the politics of the heart. It will take a massive act of conscience to bring peace to the Middle East or to mitigate the suffering in Africa. However, "conscience is always speaking, but often we turn a deaf ear" p139.

Chapter 15, "A Greater Patriotism" states that we are surrounded by violence. "When we swim in it all the time, we just don't notice it" p146. But we notice terrorism and wonder where it comes from. Following Ury, Thompson says it's like a virus "that lies sleeping, then wakens and spreads throughout the body and attacks, as if out of nowhere....Violence prevention requires creatively addressing conflicts in their earliest stages" p147.

Chapter 16, "The Hospitality of Heaven is a Queer Thing" addresses the issue of same sex relationships suggesting that LGBT people "need to be healed back into the larger community' p154. This is done thru agape love which, following M. L. King, is "an understanding, redemptive, creative good will toward all human beings...it is what Jesus meant when he said `love your enemies'" p155. This is not the same as to" like" your enemies. "Like," in any case, is a fairly superficial engagement.

Chapter 17, "Surrender Your Life to Something Greater" Dealing with the ego is not easy. "We can be important one day, and a mere drop in a very big bucket the next. And when we realize this, we can let go of the need to be important" p163. True greatness, however, comes from our connection to others. Gandhi, M.L. King, and Mother Theresa all surrendered self will and said yes "to serving the human race, no matter what" p165. "The greatness of the servant comes from helping others to discover their greatness" p 166.

Chapter 18, "The Devil is Not What You Think." Whether you believe in a devil or not, the most serious temptations are from those you believe to be allies. They appeal to altruism, ego, and power; persuade us that " life is a puzzle to be solved;"....and "reduce the meaning of life to a formula" p171...or "to getting life to go our own way" p173. Rather, "Life is amazing and astonishing....Every moment of life is remarkable. Every moment brings astonishment. Every moment is a mystery." P173

Chapter 19, "The Things We Carry Around." "...to get over our narcissism, our self absorption, our preoccupation with ourselves. This is the very heart of all spiritual practice and it takes a lifetime" p179. "We reduce our our own suffering by letting go of the poison we carry around" p 180.

Chapter 20, "The Spiritual Purpose of Our Relationships." "When I'm experiencing tension or discomfort in a relationship, I inevitably realize that I am struggling, not with the other person, but with myself" p187. A person is only fully developed through others. "We can't grow in isolation and exclusion" p188.

Chapter 21, "Life is But a Dream." We need to be aware that life is neither permanent nor predictable, just "a succession of images and experiences" p 198 . "We are awake when we know that life is nothing more than a passing show." P201.

Chapter 22, "Every Tomb is a Womb." "When we say goodbye to a person or a place we love, a part of us dies. We are then reborn to another way of life. When we go thru a divorce, lose a friendship, or fail to get the job we want, something in us dies while something else rises up." P 204.

Chapter 23, "From Religious Tribalism to the City of God." Thompson talks about the need to cultivate interfaith relationships. This "encourages us to explore our own tradition and assumptions more deeply" p211. We become more welcoming to strangers, more willing to help them with whatever burdens they have, and more understanding of "what it means to be religious" p215.

  5. Breaks free of the conventional bonds of indoctrinated, cookie cutter, christianity. A refreshing view of spiritually and the relationship of God with humanity.

5 comments about Overcoming Addictions: The Spiritual Solution (Chopra, Deepak. Perfect Health Library.).
  1. I found this book to be enormously helpful. Unlike several reveiwers who didn't find a step-by-step approach, "Overcoming Addictions" seemed very clear in terms of actions to take. I've used the techniques and viewpoints expressed in the book and found it THE most helpful and effective approach to overcoming addictions I've seen yet. The problem is that you have to actually read the book and get the idea, instead of looking for lists of what to do. He treats you as an adult with a sound inner core. His view is that an addicted person is essentially trying to find joy and a degree of enlightenment. He honors the reader by saying that "using" is simply a misguided but understandable attempt to find union with the already existing inner child, the wise and joyful person who already exists. He explains the karmic cycle in clear terms and advises how to insert images, memories and real experiences into the cycle of addiction to supplant the old habit with new, positive ways to cope with life. His is a message of hope. It is not a method which punishes, negates or brands you with a label of "addict" for the rest of your life. This book, if read mindfully, can clear a way to a far happier life. As to specific techniques, he provides tips for yoga poses, food programs, questions to ask yourself and other advice. He advises mediation and gives several specific ways to use meditation and breathing exercises to increase mindfullness. His is a message of hope and positive action based on an understanding, very human and highly validating view of the addicted person.

  2. I would highly recommend this book, to any one who is going for the first time to overcome addictions. For me I have found out with this book that you can diminish greatly or completely eliminate addictions if you read it carefully, in detail and follow what Deepak Chopra is saying. Like I mentioned before it is the first step to recovery. I know that they are a lot of negative addictions out there like illegal drugs, alcohol, tobbacco, gambling and to much sex like a sex addict can also destoy lives. So if you really do want to take the first step to recovery I would recommend this book.

  3. Read the recommendations on the cover carefully. They are ALL for the author, NOT the book. There are good reasons the book is not recommended. It is not based upon research or even extensive personal experience with addicts. It is simply some off the cuff remarks by a famous person who does not understand addiction. I agree spirituality is the cornerstone of recovery and joy is needed, but it is not as simple as the author implies. His emphasis on psychoanalytic understanding of addiction is very outdated and has not led effective treatment.

  4. I can not recommend this book to someone that is trying to overcome an addiction. I could not find where the spiritual solution was in this book. Meditation, yoga...sure I would recommend these to anyone, but they are not a solution. What I did find in this book was the definition of what the author believed an addiction to be. There are some really good books out there on addiction and this is not one of them. In my opinion, look for books that give you information on how to get to your inner child. Books with information on expressing suppressed emotions.

  5. Another nice book with greate examples of origins of addiction and how we can control it. It is painful to look at the ill effects of addiction not only in us and in out loved ones. but this book completely changed the perspective.

2 comments about Restful Sleep: The Complete Mind/Body Program for Overcoming Insomnia.
  1. I bought this book several years ago when I first became aware that I was having chronic problems with sleeping. I finally pulled it off my shelf about a month ago and read it. I have found it to be extremely helpful.

Chopra begins by encouraging the reader to consider the connection between waking life and sleeping life, and also the connection between our own biorythms and the rythms of nature.

He then writes about sleep and how to make it restful again rather than stressful. His style is very relaxed and easy to understand. He takes an ayurvedic (the ancient tradition of Indian medicine) approach to helping solve sleep disorders. I was not familiar with the ayurveda prior to reading this book, and really enjoyed learning a little bit about it. As a reader I did not feel that Chopra was trying to convert me, just help me. And - I feel that he did.

  2. I sometimes have trouble sleeping . . . not so much getting to sleep, but
staying asleep . . . so when I saw RESTFUL SLEEP by Deepak Chopra,
I jumped at the opportunity to listen to the program.

Subtitled THE COMPLETE MIND/BODY PROGRAM FOR OVERCOMING
INSOMNIA, it delivered a great deal of information . . . but this was not
surprising because Chopra tends to do that with every book and/or tape
he comes out with . . . in my opinion, this was one of his best.

I particularly liked how he backed up his ideas with insights from
Ayurevda, the ancient Indian science of life.

There were many tidbits I gained from listening; among them:
    * You can't force yourself to sleep.

    * Trying to sleep will not help; it will actually aggravate the
    insomnia.

    * Turn your clock to the wall. Don't be concerned with the time.

    * The solution to all sleep problems is making the period of being
    awake totally dynamic and satisfying.

    * Lunch should be your heaviest meal of the day.

    * Supper should be light and eaten early.

    * Take a short stroll after dinner.

    * Avoid watching TV at night. If you must, stop by 9 p.m.

    * Best to go asleep before 10 p.m., according to the rhythms of
    nature.

    * Rising earlier will lead to an earlier time for going to bed.

    * Wake up at a regular time every day.

    * Do reading in a room other than the bedroom.

    * Making your bed each day creates an orderly and harmonious
impression when you go to sleep.

    * Extract of lavender is considered helpful for sleep.

    * Ask yourself: Do you love your job? Are you really happy?
If "yes" to both those questions, then it is likely to will avoid
most heart and other health problems.

5 comments about Conversations on the Edge of the Apocalypse: Contemplating the Future with Noam Chomsky, George Carlin, Deepak Chopra, Rupert Sheldrake, and Others.
  1. KEEP THIS DEFINITION IN MIND WHEN YOU READ NOAMS STUFF. DO YOU WANT TO BE LIVE IN A COMMUNIST....I MEAN LIBERTARIAN SOCIALIST STATE.
Libertarian socialism includes a group of political philosophies that aims to create a society without political, economic or social hierarchies - a society within which individuals freely co-operate together as equals. This would be achieved through the abolition of private property, thereby restoring direct control of the means of production and resources to the working class and other unpropertied classes. Additionally, its advocates have also expressed the notion that libertarian socialism is a tendency of thought that informs the identification, criticism and practical dismantling of illegitimate authority in all aspects of social life. Accordingly they believe that "the exercise of power in any institutionalised form -- whether economic, political or sexual -- brutalises both the wielder of power and the one over whom it is exercised." [1]

  2. While this book is fairly interesting and offers some provacative, if inconclusive, evidence on a fair range of subjects, few of these subjects are really what the book leads you to believe it is about. David Jay Brown seems to be trying to further an agenda to widen awareness to paranormal and parapsychological events and research. This is fine, and these topics are interesting, but they are definitely not what you expect if you dont know who many of the interviewees are and just read the cover of the book. As an interviewer David Jay Brown often allows those being interviewed to stray to the point of distraction from the subject and sometimes it sounds like they are pitching for grants or making a TV commercial for their respective causes. This, of course, is why you interview a wide range of people for their varied points of view, but some of them are such a tangent that you have to look at the cover to make sure you've picked up the correct book from the nightstand! On the other hand, just when you start getting interested in whatever cause these people are promoting, David Jay Brown comes in with a new and completely disconnected question (from what was obviously a list of stock questions) without so much as a follow-up or a valid tie-in. Half of the interviews sound like the subjects filled out questionaires on the internet and had no interactive interaction with David Jay Brown at all. All this aside, I am not sorry to have read the book. There were some very interesting concepts in it, but I think that it has more to do with Psychic phenomena than what the immediate future holds for the human race or any of the "hard" sciences.

PS- To David Jay Brown: For Christs' sake man! Hire an editor!

  3. David Jay Brown takes the reader on a stimulating odyssey through science, technology, and the mind -- a world that involves the future of humanity, the mystery of consciousness, the significance of hallucinations, supertechnologies, the afterlife, and alien life. No human being should pass up the experience of stepping through the portals of this beautiful book into fantastic new worlds that scientists, psychologists, and philosophers are now exploring at the frontiers of science and mind.

  4. Wow! Beautiful! This book was given to me by a stranger (now a friend) immediately before a long flight, and I have been traveling with it ever since. Although each interview is carefully and masterfully woven together to create a whole, each interview is also an entity in itself and short enough to lend to an interested traveler for a brief trip of the mind.

So often we pass by or purposefully ignore those deep questions about our future. Not this book; this book spills it all out naked before you. I love the odd collection of interviewees. Each is a well-respected leader from a different field, giving a diverse yet surprisingly good conglomeration of thoughts. The author is not telling you what to think, he is simply putting forth the information from many different walks of life. I love to read such a blatant clash of viewpoints right next to each other.

Beware: The ideas contained within these pages are sometimes encouraging, sometimes frightening, but always thought-provoking.

  5. "Pressure to evolve has never been greater. In interviews with leading-edge thinkers in genetics, neurobiology, linguistics, media, psychiatry and parapsychology, David Jay Brown asks the Big Questions: Will we survive? What is the effect of technology on the biosphere? What happens to consciousness after death? What gives reason for hope?...Despite their wildly varying concerns and views on specific questions, these thinkers show the power of intelligence and collective vision to change the present, reverse the past and influence the future...These short interviews offer so much to ponder and follow up on, not least of which are a fantastic reading list, new thinkers to watch, websites to check and reasons to reach beyond the boundaries of ordinary dreams. Most of all, this book offers positive visions of the future."
-- Susan Salter Reynolds, The Los Angeles Times

5 comments about Golf for Enlightenment: The Seven Lessons for the Game of Life.
  1. I think this is a good book on golf on the mental side. However, I don't agree with that a golf swing just disappears. With the proper technique, the effective golf swing will not disappear. I also like the book he had written many years ago called Creative Visualization--great mental imagery. In addition, I found Patrick Leonardi's book titled:
"The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide: Key Techniques for Becoming a Zero Handicap Golfer or Better" one of the greatest books I've read on golf instruction. At first I was skeptical about this book after hearing from my friends how much this book helped them lower their scores. I'm convinced now because after utilizing "The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide" now I not only score below 90( which I never have done before in my golfing career) but now I actually broke 80. Well worth the time to learn these techniques and it's way better than taking golf lessons.

  2. Who's guess that Deepak could hit a hole-n-one on Golf... A+ listen as an Audion CD or download. This is excellent book to kill time on a long drive or to listen to in the background as you work on the computer.

Amazing how Deepak can tie improving your golf game to the challenge of improving your life. I highly recommend but then I haven't found anything from Deepak Chopra that I don't find of excellent value.

Try it, you'll not be disappointed... especially the audio version.

  3. I do not play golf. However, I recently moved into a home that sits at the 16th hole of a golf course, so a friend of mine gave me this book as a house-warming gift. Even though Deepak Chopra is primarily a spiritual author, I discovered that this book is, indeed, very much about the game of golf, and how to enjoy it more. But more than that, it is also a book about the game of life, and how to enjoy that more, as well. I am tempted here to summarize some of the key points Chopra makes--points that he conveniently revisits at the very end of the book. But where's the fun in that? I suggest that you read the entire book, and enjoy the journey . . . just as you would would enjoy a nice round of golf. You will benefit greatly from just having played.

Steven Lane Taylor, author of Row, Row, Row Your Boat: A Guide For Living Life In The Divine Flow

  4. Dr. Chopra offers good advice for the "feel" aspect of golf -- getting out of the head and into the moment, turning down the interior noise, breathing deeply, swinging with a conviction based on interior knowledge rather than exterior sight. All that is timeless, supremely useful, and clear when Chopra writes from the first-person, in his introduction and chapter summaries. But I wish he hadn't felt it necessary to wrap his counsel in the gauze of the ridiculous fairy tale of Adam and Leela, which fluffs his brief teaching up to book-length. Perhaps some people learn better this way, but such contrived dream sequences as these bring only confusion to my mind, as well as evoking the scorn that hard-headed realists feel for all things "New Age."

  5. What a fabulous book Deepak Chopra has written.

I purchased this book to open my father up to the possibility that there is more to life than what are senses can inform us. He is a world famous chemist, and appropriately, a pretty fine golfer, yet he has little faith in the Unseen forces that many of the saints declare to actually exist.

Currently, he is reading this book as he vacations in Mexico, and I trust that it will candidly open his heart up to a new perspective on life and the exciting possibility of higher yet experiencial states of consciousness which are our birthright to acknowledge and experience in our daily lives.

Every page of this book strikes a cord in the heart, resonating somewhere deep within and reminds us that, even though we play competitive daily games to often survive or simply to entertain us, there is an Infinite Game that, when acknowledged, leads us to our hearts, helps us to excel, and bonds us with the rest of humanity's desire to understand and express what it means to be truly human.

I seriously recommend this book to anyone and I know that my father will be better off after having read it. I can't wait to talk to him when he get's back and play golf together when the spring comes..I love him.

    Thank you Deepak Chopra

  1. I loved how Tara Guber wove the understanding of deep relationship wisdom into the understanding of this powerful partner yoga. It gave me an insight into the postures and as I practiced them with my husband, I also thought about the wisdom and anchored that in my heart and body. The result is more joy, connection and play with my husband. I recommend this to anyone who wants more intimacy and juciness in their life.

  2. I really wanted to love this book. It's beautifully designed with gorgeous photographs, inspiring poses, and lofty prose. My wife and I pored over it's pages with anticipation, but when we attempted the positions, we were frustrated by scanty instructions, repetition, and fluff. Both of us are experienced in yoga, though not advanced, and most of the poses were either too tame or too difficult.

The book looks nice on the coffee table, but we're still looking for a good book on partner yoga.

  3. This is the best partner yoga book that I have found. I have taught yoga for many years including "date night" yoga so I'm frequently looking for new books to get fresh ideas for class. CONTACT is beautifully photographed and written for the yoga mat or the coffee table.

  4. This book has beautiful pictures. The text is interesting but scanty. I would have liked more detail on the principles of the poses and how to actually do them. Many of the poses shown are beyond what the average practitioner can do.

  5. Amazing book! Not only is it artistically beautiful, the poses are fun and challenging. If you're already a yoga buff and are looking to find a book with good partner poses, then this is a great buy.
