5 comments about The Ten Commitments: Translating Good Intentions into Great Choices.
- This is a "must have" book for anyone who has the desire to cultivate awareness and take full responsibility for their own growth and transformation.
Ten Commitments offers a path to freedom from the control and limitations (whether conscious or subconscious) of an external authority as presented in the text of the biblical Ten Commandments. Dr Simon invites us to explore, contemplate, and then translate each commandment into a personal commitment. Personal commitments then become the vehicles for the exploration and expression of our deepest desires, intentions, and actions as they emerge from the core of our being into the world of our creation.
This book is very clearly written, easy to understand, and smoothly accessible for the personal integration of the subject matter. Its message is inspiring, spacious, and very timely as a gift of healing in this era of spiritual and religious diversity and tension.
- very insightful...the idea of changing "thou shalt not..." into "you can (and should)..." is a real eye-opener...i am already familiar w/Dr. Simon's work with the Chopra Center & this is another valuable tool in what is, obviously a work in progress...
- I would give grade ten for this product for the following reasons:
a) The speed the book got to me (I live in Brazil!);
b) The excellent price;
c) The excellent content of the book.
Congratulations to Amazon and to David Simon!
- The foundational principals of the Ten Commandments have shaped societies for thousands of years. The Ten Commitments reinforces theses enduring tenets and provides a new perspective that inspires one to make better choices about every day living. This is a must read.
- Much needed in our changing views of the old Biblical Laws. It points out how we have choices. We can grow up and take responsibility for our own healing and the healing of each other.

5 comments about Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything.
- Very simply "Sixty Seconds" is an excellent book and a must read. Why? Read it and find out.
- In this book, author Phil Bolsta has assembled an amazing collection of people--from well-known names such as spiritual medium James Van Praagh, bestselling author Dr. Dean Ornish, and alternative medicine guru Dr. Deepak Chopra to lesser-known mystics, sports figures, authors, and entertainers--to share stories of moments that changed their lives. The idea behind Sixty Seconds is that these moments, which may consume only mere seconds of our lives, are not only sacred but often transformative. In his introduction, Bolsta suggests that these transformative experiences lead to dramatic changes in how people view themselves, the world, and the meaning and purpose of life.
Bolsta has organized the book into three parts. Part I, Glimpses into the the Unknown, includes both "Life-and-Death Moments" and "Mysterious Moments." This section contains some of the most "out there" stories of the book, as it includes tales of visions, spirits, and angels. Part II is entitled Living Life, and it is broken down into "Heartbreaking Moments" and "Sacred Moments." As the title of the first subsection would suggest, these are some of the saddest stories of the book, but they are also some of the most moving; much of the second subsection involves transitions between life and death. The final part of the book is Insightful Incidents, which includes "Life-Altering Moments" and "Moments of Enlightenment."
I definitely found these stories to be both interesting and thought-provoking. Most are short, from only 2-3 pages to a bit longer. However, the title "Sixty Seconds" is a bit misleading, as some of the transformative "moments" actually took place over the course of days or weeks. Still, this is definitely a worthwhile read, especially for someone who is exploring personal/spiritual growth and who enjoys reading about the journeys of others.
- 60 Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything by Phil Bolsta is a wonderful book. It is an easy read if you have only a few minutes or a few hours. Everyone has a story and sharing them benefits both the reader as well as the story teller. Each story is unique and inspirational. Thank you Phil Bolsta.
- Phil Bolsta's SIXTY SECONDS: ONE MOMENT CHANGES EVERYTHING, with a Foreword by Caroline Myss, is a wonderful companion to take along on anyone's spirit journey. The book's greatest virtues are its crackling brevity and exhilarating inspiration. It's designed for the breakneck pace of everyday life in western culture, and its design is agreeable and friendly.
But what makes the book a stand-out, and star, are the 45 stories of spiritual focusing and awakening by prominent authors, healers, teachers, and business people. Reading the account of Dr. Janis Amatuzio's life after death encounter during her hospital internship, or the incredible perseverance of Jim MacLaren and Dannion Brinkley, or the poignant, radiant accounts of living with imperiled children by James Autry and Sally Pederson, Frank Deford, and Mike Veeck, made me feel humble, reconnected to all of life, and grateful for my blessings and opportunities to be of service to others in this amazing life.
My personal favorites among these incandescent stories also include Donald Schnell's relationship with a young African-American fellow soldier and Zen practitioner, Toltec teacher Don José Luis's account of his blindness and restored eyesight, Jean Houston's effervescent mini-memoir of an awakening in childhood, Caroline Myss's fascinating relationship with an Indian mystic, and Deepak Chopra's uplifting revelations during his father's sacred cremation ritual. And, of course, I'm especially pleased to see the critical role that poetry plays in a healing revelation experienced by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.
All of these stories remind us that we are all connected and not alone, that we need never fear death because where we're going is beautiful and, well, inevitable! Many stories share common visions, centered peace, and stillness. They are also brimming with companionship and community building. I'm grateful, for instance, to learn about the Twilight Brigade, which assists dying veterans, and the Trent Tucker Non-Profit Organization, which works with young people to shape more positive futures.
In every way, Phil Bolsta has put together a great soul-gift! I'm enjoying reading and re-reading it. I'm sharing these stories with friends, and I'm reading them to my children. I cannot recommend the experience of this beautiful book highly enough!
Robert McDowell, The Poetry Mentor, Bestselling author of POETRY AS SPIRITUAL PRACTICE: Reading, Writing, and Using Poetry in Your Daily Rituals, Aspirations, and Intentions (Free Press, July 2008), www.robertmcdowell.net
- Phil Bolsta has done his homework and the interviews that he has collected gives to the reader many different ways of looking at life's meaning.
In the same genre as the "Chicken Soup Series", Chicken Soup for the Soul "Sixty Seconds" gives us glimpses of the afterlife, the unconscious, the NOW and most importantly the sacredness of the world we live in and the sacredness of all the persons in our lives, starting with oneself.
Phil doesn't leave us dangling. After each story the author gives us information to further our search about the author and his/her way of life. Most have websites and you can find a wealth of spirituality and comfort in these pages.
Most of the interviews are from prominent figures, which have been courageous to share their stories with the readers. One of the most touching stories is from disabled triathlete Jim McLaren. Jim gives us the courage to change the things in our lives that need changing and not look back.
Hopefully in the future Phil will keep on collecting stories and share them with us.

5 comments about 100 Promises to My Baby.
- This book really sheds some light on what it means to be a GREAT parent and what it takes to be a great parent. There are lots of wonderful thought and suggestions, yet they do challenge you to carry through on a few. It is a wonderful book and makes a great baby shower gift. It beats the heck out of giving a boring gift certificate. Chopra has opened my eyes not only to what gifts I can give to my son, but it reminds me of all the wonderful gifts that my parents and grandparents have given me. VERY UPLIFTING!!!
- I found this book completely unreaslistic, but what can one expect from an author who was raised in, and continues to live in extreme privilege? I grew tired of reading about Mallika Chopra's life of servants, nannies, and cleaning ladies. I'm quite certain that if all mothers in the world (including those in North America) led lives of such privilege, they too could write books such as these with completely unrealistic expectations about what it is to be a mother. I also did not find anything she said particularly deep, inspirational, aware, thought provoking, or compelling (as other reviewers would lead you to believe).
If you wish to read a feel-good book that sets you up for some sort of "perfect" idyllic (i.e. unrealistic) picture of motherhood, than you'll love this book, though I hear that you can read the same in most Reader's Digest magazines.
- Although I bought this book as a gift, I did glance through the various chapters to develop a feeling of the author's message.
I found the book beautifully written with a depth of feeling that could only come from the love of a mother for her child. There was a spiritual dimension moving through the pages of the book which enhanced the message and the feeling of closeness, yet the words were those of common sense and practical nature.
These thoughts, so well spoken by Mallika Chopra, are the thoughts that all mothers wish for their children. Mallika Chopra shows the talent and the gift of her father.
- The book itself is a great book to read when you are expecting or anytime. The paper cover of the book (hard cover)had many black markings on it. That was a little disappointing. It was a gift but it did not look like a new one.
- When my daughter was first born I would read to her from this book while in the rocking chair-I loved it and she seemed to. I just gifted this book to my friend who is expecting.

5 comments about The Deeper Wound: Recovering the Soul from Fear and Suffering, 100 Days of Healing.
- I am shocked that a previous reviewer would "dis" this book while at the same time admitting she had not read it . . . However, her negative review DID prompt me to "give the book a chance." I read it -- and I am very glad I did. When it comes to Dr. Chopra, I've been a skeptic. But this time, he is offering a much-needed resource for healing in one of our country's most difficult times. It's long been said that what we refused to deal with just goes underground and bides its time. Dr. Chopra offers us the methods and processes we need post 9/11 to begin the process of deep healing as a human community. It's never to late to begin. Read this book today --I wager you'll be glad you did.
- What makes the reviewer think one has to read a book to review it? Deekpak spends a lot of time on the TV book promotion trail talking about his latest masterpiece -- a cashing in on the tragedy of others sorrow. Now it seems the author has leaped from the specific tragedy of 9/11 to the generalized tragedy which inflicts the six billion souls on the globe. That he has found a new garb for his garu tongue adds little to the price of sweat in China. That world suffering never diminishes is probably the best evidence not to spend time with these heavily spaded up fields of soothing herbal salve. None of the readers can point to any specific, verifyable first aid this book has provided for their wounds. Writers who take out a lease on wearing the garu hat never offer any authenticity to their generalized claims of relieving life's agony. I think the five stars are to soothe their own pain.
- The scars of deep wounds are not yet healed when terror knock down the WTC Towers six months ago and here again, the endless natural and man made catastrophe leaves its trails of unforgetful memories of deeper wounds - trauma and hurt with recent Communal Riots in India and Earthquake in Afghanistan. Deepak Chopra in Deeper Wounds describes the emotional states that people go through after a traumatic event so as not to get a person mired with stages of fear, anger, anxiety, shock, helplessness and depression. Deepak uses the perspective to spill off hate from the heart to scratch off the emotional wounds. The author explains that healing yourself comes in two stages-first releasing the energy of suffering, then replacing it with the soul's energy. In the face of tragedy, the first section of the book defines suffering as painful and way of life to a `Hundred days of Healing', daily assertion, exercises, lesson plans and insight to sparkle up the spiritual flame to heal the wounds inside. Deepak's book is in response to the affected people in the tragedy of the twin towers, a portion of the proceeds earned by the author and publisher would be donated to Red Cross and charities on humanitarian grounds. A deeper wound is an exceptional book that raises psychological and spiritual issues raised by the attacks at WTC. Chopra deals with spiritually acceptance of `Where was God when you need him most?' by helping to understand and cope up with trauma situations and overcome negative emotional hurt to restore strength and faith back to gear. He believes and pens down that evil is a form of egoism and describes the power of compassion and awareness. I wish Deepak would once again inspire, encourage and heal the pain of victims of Communal riots in Gujarat and help them tackle to overcome emotional outbursts of hate, waning tolerance, ego, anxiety, fear and violence. A human relationship is on threshold of shattering faith and during these times, Religious differences blur the image of God's world of peace.
- September 11, 2001, defined tragedy for a generation. Meeting thousands of people who begged for meaning and solace in the face of suffering, Deepak in response has written The Deeper Wound, offering a way of healing as a memorial to the thousands of victims who perished. It is only one way to look at the subject of fear and suffering and a very valid one at that. Take what you find relevant and helpful to yourself, and leave the rest behind.
- Although this book was written for the victims' families of 911, I was able to apply the principles within, to the circumstances of loss in my own life.
I also bought the audio book.

- Whoever wants to know more about the most spoken -but not necessarily understood- word in the world, has to read this book with an open heart and quiet mind, in order to absorb what D. Chopra is willing to pass to us all.
- I had read How to Know God sometime ago, and decided to purchase The Essential How to Know God as a refresher. It was very uplifting. To me Deepak Chopra just seems so clear on matters of the spirit. I recommend this book.

5 comments about Sacred Verses, Healing Sounds, Volumes I and II: The Bhagavad Gita, Hymns of the Rig Veda (Chopra, Deepak).
- This AudioBook is great! Inspirational, Soothing, and Informative! I have listened to this set a number of times, always finding something new. Deepak Chopra is a true master of pen and spirit.
- I was disappointed to discover Dr. Chopra's commentary throughout all three CD's. From the write up, I had expected educational commentary in the first parts followed by a more relaxing meditative series. It was not relaxing or meditative because one must listen intently to understand him and the three CD's are almost entirely background music for his educational commentary. Wish I could get my money back.
- There is more talking than I anticipated, I thought it would be recited verses/songs, but is lots of Deepak talking over background music. I have a hard time listening to it, and would not recommend anyone buying it. This is the first Deepak product I have really been disappointed with.
- Sacred Verses is very abstract. It is a recording of selected ancient Veda literature translated into English. The verses are very simple. I could have just read the Vedas in book form. I do not receive any benefit from listening to the Vedas on CD form other than becoming familiar with the content of the Vedas. I would not have purchased this CD had I had a chance to preview it first. It is useless knowledge unless you have the intent to study the Vedas. I had initially purchased the CD set to learn about the Vedas, but all I have learned is that the Vedas are simplistic prayers (my prayers are more meaningful). There is nothing to really benefit from listening to this CD set.
Chopra, however, presents a clear voice and diction.
- You will love this CD, if you want to progress on your path to awakening by this CD.
If you want to have a greater understanding of the Bhagavad Gita and broaden your horizons this is essentual to your sound library.
I now have this on my mp3 player and love it!

5 comments about Molecules of Emotion: Why You Feel the Way You Feel.
- Candace Pert's work helps confirm the energy work that I am doing through my massage therapy practice.
- Amazing... I am humbled to have read this book. It is amazing with it's empowering and enlightening insight. Amazing that it has been ten years since it's release. Imagine what there is to learn now...
- This book is such an thrilling read! ...no mean feat when you consider that much of the discussion is about the intricacies of scientific research. Pert blends an insider's view of medical research with real-life health implications so wonderfully that I found myself alternating between reading quickly (eager to see what was next) and slowly (wanting to savor the book). The implications of her research in terms of health and well being are profound. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for scientific support for the mind-body connection!
- "Molecules of Emotion: Why You Feel the Way You Feel" is mostly about why Candace B. Pert feels the way she feels. This is more about her life and research than about how you feel. She briefly discusses alternative medicine and talks about who she has met while lecturing.
While the title of the book does not accurately describe the contents, this is by no means a boring read. Candace B. Pert describes her life as a neuroscientist and then explores her own spirituality. If you want to know more about Candace B. Pert then this is your book. She discusses her life in detail and explains her passion for curing AIDS.
This book was not what I expected it to be so I have to say I agree with many of the one-star and five-star reviews. This book is exciting but has little to do with the emotions you and I feel. The only real information on emotions included a brief discussion of how repressed anger can cause cancer. If you are looking for something fascinating to listen to then I can recommend Your Body Is Your Subconscious Mind by Candace B. Pert.
If you are ready to explore how you can control your health through your thoughts I can highly recommend:
The Wisdom of Your Cells: How Your Beliefs Control Your Biology
The Biology Of Belief: Unleashing The Power Of Consciousness, Matter And Miracles
~The Rebecca Review
- this book need serious editing to make it readable
I was looking for a book about peptides, after having seen Candace Pert in What the Bleep, instead I found an annoying autobiography, read (waded through) only the first 50 pages that mostly were a string of "me, me, me and then maybe the way others see me" with little about peptides between the me
I respect Candace Pert as a scientist, that's why I'm giving two stars instead of one, but seriously, she's a self centered writer and that takes a lot away from the wonderful work she's done

5 comments about Deepak Chopra Presents India Authentic Volume 1: The Book Of Shiva (India Authentic).
- I didn't know about this graphic novel series until Deepak Chopra mentioned his colaboration with his son during his Iconoclast interview with Mike Meyers.
Easy to follow storyline makes it easy to understand the basics about some of the Hindu Gods. If you have any interest in learning about Shiva, Ganesh, Shiva, Kali, Uma and many more this is a great start. Also, the illustrations and colors look outstanding on the glossy paper.
- I heard about this comic series produced by deepak's son on tv and ordered the comic within minutes.Well written and awesome artwork, which complement each other perfectly. They should make a whole series and then
creat a coffee table artbook just perrrrfect!
- This comic book is great. I love mythology and this book proved to be good at teaching some legends. The story of the Gods is well written, and the illustrations are great. In fact, I have ordered the following one, and pre-ordered the third one!!!
- I don't know what to say about "The Book of Shiva", other than I am renewing my love to Shiva. I mean, I love and adhere to all aspects of the Trinity, and I bow to the power of Vishnu to preserve the world. But Lord Shiva... I don't know. There's something within that Hermit of Kailash that amazes me. Perhaps His matted hair, from which Mother Gangga flows. Perhaps His hermit stage. Not His snake... not His snake...
But one thing for sure that makes me admire Shiva: His love to Lady Uma/Parvati. So beautiful, so sweet... A while ago, I wept the first time I learned that He too was broken hearted when Sati died. Now, after reading the story again here, I was crushed again. Shiva is the God who knows pain of separation. And the way Shiva expressed His feelings as He watched the All-Mother Uma turned into Kali: "It pained me to see my Uma like this. I wept when she howled like a wild beast... and turned on the blood-spawns."
Kudos to Saurav Mohapatra's script and Deepak Chopra's ideas. I really love the painting-like arts inside of the book - Tayade, Singh, and Subramanian did amazing works. My favourite part was when Shiva stopped the enraging Kali: "Uma, this cannot be. You must fight her." And then, the most beautiful painting, as He holds Uma's unconscious form and said: "The Sleeper slumbered again. For it was Uma who opened her eyes. Perhaps it was the fatigue of battle that quelled the primal will. Perhaps it was the power of the All-Mother. But sometimes I like to think...maybe... Just maybe... it was me."
Sweet, romantic Shiva...
My only nitpick is that Shiva was shown smiling only in 1-2 panels, particularly when Uma was around. I mean, yes - Shiva has the dark Rudra side, the destructive side. But He also has His sweet, beautiful side. The Dance of Life, as the Nataraj dances it, is danced with love. His love: sweet, tender, beautiful love. Such spirit is not really shown here, hence might mislead new readers or those who are not familiar with the Vedic tradition, that Shiva is the all-angry God who destroys everything.
Personally, I would rather have the cover depicting the benevolent Shiva, He who smiles peacefully as He watches the world from the top of Kailash. But I understand why from the sale point of view, the artists and creator preferred the scarier form of Shiva. Here's the hope for the second volume, where Shiva is depicted with gentler smile, as sweet and gentle as He gazes lovingly at Lady Parvati.
- This series is a departure from your standard typical comic storyline, and it works fantasticly. The stories and mythology have a timeless, classic appeal that adults and young readers will love. I higly reccomend this book for readers of multiple comics titles- take a breath and relax.
