5 comments about Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives.
- Always looking for practical solutions, I found that the Ayurvedic principles to deal with the misery of Morning Sickness were particularly useful. And loved the yoga positions too!
- Deepak Chopra has an outlook on pregnancy and childbirth that assures you of the natural process and joy of bringing a new life into the world. Many books are so medical that they leave out the emotional components of this process. I found this book informative as well as very soothing.
- This book makes me look at pregnancy in a whole new beautiful way. It's very empowering and could bring out the best in anyone trying to follow some of its wisdom and guidance during this period. It makes me think differently about labor and child birth especially too; rather than fearing the pain, I look forward to the miracle that the process will bring to life.
I'm looking forward to using this book over the next 3 and final months of my pregnancy!
- Not much to say, there are lots of repetitions in the book and the suggestions can be read in many pregnancy websites. The book is peaceful but limited, I expected a little more.
- (Note: This review was written by my wife, Laura...)
If you've ever read any of Deepak Chopra's books then you know they are beautifully written, full of inspirational messages, and grounded in spirit. This book is definitely no exception: in it you will find lots of suggestions for connecting with your baby through communing with nature, self-nurturing, healthy, Ayurvedic-based eating, meditation, visualizations and much more.
You will learn how to find your center of peace within and how to live more and more from there as the months go by. He'll help you visualize your ideal birth and guide you towards making that a reality. If nothing else, this book will leave you feeling more grounded and full of love and peace.

3 comments about Freedom from Addiction: The Chopra Center Method for Overcoming Destructive Habits.
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R13CZYSSA5EL9P I've been reading Deepak for many years and have had a conversation with him regarding addiction and the 12 Steps. He's coming at it from a non-addict's perspective. One addict talking to another is the key to 12 Step recovery. See my upcoming book, The 12 Step Buddhist, where I deal with this material from the perspective of an addict, and a Buddhist.
- This book is amazing!!!! The way David Simmon refamed the 12 step program is remarkable and much more user friendly for the general public...it's very nice how he and Deepak explain why people become addicted and that it is not something you need to see as an addiction for the rest of your life. The only thing missing is a program at the Chopra Center to go with it.
- Very insightful book for anyone wanting to break bad habits such as smoking, drinking, etc.

5 comments about A Leader Becomes a Leader: Inspirational Stories of Leadership for a New Generation.
- J. Kevin Sheehan presents a celebration of what's possible in his biographical snapshots of great leaders. By focusing on the unique character traits of outstanding leaders the author transforms the mysteries of leadership into something very real. He answers the question "what made them great?" in an extremely concise and inspirational style. Great as a corporate gift or graduation present. My children have used it for school projects and I have found inspiration for my own business. No home or school library should be without this most valuable tool.
- The author does a phenomenal job of breaking the topic down into small manageable and inspiring readings; also covers a great cross-section of leaders and the characteristics that made them successful. I ordered a dozen copies as executive and motivational gifts.
- Within his book A Leader Becomes A Leader, Kevin Sheehan delightfully illustrates the essence of true leadership. He poignantly definies a diverse group of past and present leaders; while exploring their life events and characteristics of greatness. Encourage your friends, family and coworkers to read this motivational book!
- Poignant, powerful stories. Beautifully written with a distinctive and important design. This book's not to be missed--by you, your friends, your business colleagues. Bravo!
- Kevin Sheehan has simplified the great qualities of important leaders and placed them in an entertaining text. A gift which I have passed on to my dearest friends, this book is both inspirational and educational. My highest recommendation.

5 comments about Ageless Body, Timeless Mind: The Quantum Alternative to Growing Old.
- If you believe in kharma, this book will help you create good kharma. If you don't believe in kharma, it's basically a book on how to create harmony in your life and exist in a positive way. Hence, three stars. If you want a light positive read, and some helpful advice on how to conduct your life in a positive way, try it. If you want something profound, this isn't it.
- I bought this book for my 82 year old Father after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He told me the book was one of the best he had ever read. My father was a highly educated, intelligent man that gained inspiration from this book. I am grateful to Mr. Chopra for this.
- How should I put it?
Take care of yourself.
Your body might last a bit longer.
Your mind might last a bit longer.
Does it have to be presented as mystical ancient knowledge?
- Some very interesting information and concepts in this book, however, I did not close this book feeling more enlightened that before reading the book. If you have a strong religous background, you probably know most of the concepts in this book although you may increase your terminology on subjects such as quantum healing and ayurveda. The book is good for anyone who wants has a negative view of aging and wants to improve the quality of their life as they age.
- Chopra's "Ageless Body, Timeless Mind" is a truly courageous thesis. How well he manages to argue it is a different matter... After all, Chopra dared to take on the most fundamental axiom of humankind - that of mortality!
Page 53: "Inside everyone lies the hidden conviction "I must age, which operates so powerfully on us that our bodies conform to it." Citing the Indian sage, Shankara, he continues: "People grow old and die because they see others grow old and die." Chopra summarizes: the inevitability of aging is an artifact of cultural conditioning. This is the problem that he sets out to solve.
A gutsy proposition! Kudos to Chopra for this early 1990s effort. What's the relevance of the timeline? The early 90s were the time that the quantum physics was riding the high of its popularization. Chopra's arguments - taken in their scientifically historical context - are an eloquent intertwine of the Quantum Physics and the Buddhist doctrine of Sunyata (emptiness). He mounts an eloquent, encyclopedic-in-its-breadth argument, in a clear and engaging matter. In my reading of this argument, he redefines mind as a distributed neuronal network - mind isn't just brain, it is wherever the nerves are, and thus no province of body is potentially outside of the central command of mindful intention and awareness. He posits that whatever is withing the field of awareness is within conscious control and proposes a curriculum of awareness-building.
What a valiant, triumphant, daring dissertation on the mind-over-body possibilities!
The courage of this effort is in self-exposure: Chopra now has to become the Houdini that escapes time... What a mandate!
Regardless of what you think of Chopra's thesis at a glance, I encourage you to read the book. It's a great overview of mind-body research, of the interplay of physics/immunity/psychology, an inspiring big-picture, a poignant exploration of our entrappment in our cultural conditioning (even if age happens to be an exception to it).
The book has many a great line. "The effect of conditioning is always the same: choice becomes restricted." "To stimulate one cell is to stimulate all." "What is outside our awareness cannot be controlled." "Any appearance of separation is only the product of the limitation of our senses." "The dance is forever and the dance is you."
Medicine, psychology, poetry, epistemology, East-West synthesis!
Nice invigorating read but don't cancel your health insurance just yet.

5 comments about How to Know God (Miniature).
- If I had to depend on this book to help me know God, I would be in big trouble. It started out as a good read, and had some interesting points, but by the time I got to chapter 4, I was so confused and bored. I have never read any of this guys books, but was impressed with him on tv. I think this author is a must to avoid for me. Also, the fine print was so little, I felt like I needed to call my eye doctor.
- Great book for organizing my thoughts on where I stand in my spiritual journey. I found this book to be a wonderful tool for tracking progress. Very accurate in my experience.
- The simple dynamic outlined here is what you put in is what you get out. If your view of God keeps you in a state of fear then that's your input. Don't expect anything different in the output. If your input is an understanding and free flowing energy where you exchange consciousness with the divine, then your output is of course a very positive and fulfilling result. In a nut shell, Dr. Chopra is teaching what we all know, how you treat others, including God, is directly proportional to how you are treated. I think it so simple though, some people just can't believe it. The God relationship, and this is just my experience, you are dealing with an energy source, not a physical being with big white beard that sits on a throne and sends Mother Nature to punish the wicked. That is a manufactured God in the minds of humanity. It is NOT the source Dr. Chopra is writing about here.
- A great book and a must read for those who'd like to be acquainted with the real meaning and a deeper understanding of God. Yet, you would need an open mind before you could start holding and enjoy reading the book. If you're the kind of person who's ready to explore and face another view of reality, then your search for spiritual motivation, development and transformation will come to mind. Take your time and read the book rather slow since you will definitely get to learn, open a new door and gain something out of it.
- I really enjoyed reading this book,it gave me a better understanding of god and myself

5 comments about Integrative Nutrition.
- Integrative nutrition was recommended to me by my nutritionist who attended the integrative nutrition schooling up in NY. The book compares all diet trends - shows you the good and bad in all...as well as supports the reader lovingly in their journey for overall good health of mind/body and spirit. This is no quick fix diet book. This is for those who want it all!
- This book has great information, I do know a bit mjore than the average person about nutrition, and have been eating organic, non dairy, homepathics, more natural lifestyle since the 1980's but this book is a great help loaded with information I did not know. This is a great read for everyone. Once you pick it up you dont want to put it down.
- This great book was like the glue the brought together all the tidbits of information that were floating inside my head.
Superbly written & simply explained, J.Rosenthal presents various nutrition approaches & theories, & encourages everyone to find their individual balance in order live a healthy, nourishing life.
- I believe anyone interested in the mind body connection would benefit
from this book! Highly informative! I couldn't put it down!
- Joshua Rosenthal's book "Integrative Nutrition" is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to explore and discover the truth about giant food corporations and pharmaceutical companies and how they affect the American diet; the strengths and weaknesses of the popular diets in the market; the reasons why we should listen to our body when we crave for certain foods, the Mind Body Spirit connection, healthy recipes and much, much more. Great pictures, layout etc. A must have Nutrition Resource Book :-)

5 comments about Perfect Weight: The Complete Mind/Body Program for Achieving and Maintaining Your Ideal Weight (Perfect Health Library).
- I though Deepak Chopra gave some interesting points on weight loss, which I've been trying to incorporate into my daily life. He doesn't give an overal diet menu. It's more of a knowledge of how to eat and then you pick the foods. I'd never heard of ayurveda, but I took the test and it was eerie at how accurate it was. I've read lots of books and articles on dieting and I think anyone trying to lose weight could gain something from this, and I'm not talking pounds.
- It's an easy read.
My wife is really fat, and likes Chopra. I got it for her. It only cost 8 cents + shipping.
I ended up reading it for her, she is a bit lazy.
The approach to Perfect Weight is a common sense no brainer. We can't all be expected to look like fashion models or weight lifters.
Getting our weight, habits, and lives in a natural balance is of the utmost importance. I already knew that. The 126 pages only took a few days to read, then I went back to certain parts to better understand the concepts.
Here is the rub, To a great book, or a great plan. One must really, be motivated to do it. And start doing it, a little piece at a time.
Chopra is philosophical, somewhat spiritual, and logical. He is quick to point out myths, and thinking superstitions. A very pleasant person.
I'd give this approach serious consideration if I were concerned with weight, etc. etc. etc. It may be important to give the concepts enumerated on from the point of view of listening and learning a new thing and not refuting the methodology, or belief system, at every turn of the page.
There is a part at the end which illustrate some yoga exercises, which can help exercise the innards as well as trim and build mussels, which is part of the wholeistic, approach Chopra mentions.
The idea of cause and effect are obvious but need to be pointed out, this is done well, in areas concerning, eating, and just what are we eating, when and why.
The book has an uplifting feel, and hopefully we can re-boot detox and be come aware of what our eating habits and reasonings are.
It works for me, now her turn. :-)
- I am not quite finished this book, but have found some very interesting new ideas to weight loss. Overall a very interesting book.
- I would recommend this book to anyone that is wondering why they can not lose weight. Very informative and easy read. The recommendations for eating habits and no stress exercises are very good. I appreciated the research information at the back of the book.
- I think that if one is very motivated to make the change without going on a diet and actually make the effort to prepare the foods as suggested, it's a good book. I already know what type I was according to Ayurvedic Medicine so there was not much new in here. It's a good introduction.

5 comments about Life After Death: The Burden of Proof.
- I initially wanted to write this book off as yet another potboiler of spiritual materialism. I was predisposed to reject it as another cheapening of deep and profound matters in order to turn a buck. Then I forced myself to actually read it. I found that it fit with my own hard won views on the subject. There was certainly no cheapening of spiritual matters here. In fact, I wish to add a copy of this book to my personal library.
One thing that helped change my mind was the author's admission that his own mother died the year before this book was published. This is reflected by the obvious sincerity and depth of focus on the topic.
The author's background in Vedanta ties the book together. While he explores many avenues ancient and modern it is tied together by returning to the Vedas and the rishis. This appealed to me for I have found this to be the root of the perennial philosophy- the anchor of the Golden Thread. The teaching of the three domains (physical objects, subtle objects, and pure consciousness) within the interpenetrating Reality of the Akashic field resonates with truth. Moreover, the concept that you can switch your primary allegiance from the physical realm to the subtle in life- and be supported by it- has been satisfactorily verified in my own life. Similarly, over identification with the physical realm will hold you back from what is truly significant in life.
The author states that there will never be a definitive book on this subject. With people at so many different levels of development, how could there be? However, this book will open the door to the Mystery just enough, that those who are ready may possibly enter in.
- This book is yet another brilliant and deep read from one of the world's leading spiritual leaders. A scientific viewpoint which convinces even the deepest of skeptics that there is a world beyond the one we currently live in, this book gives hope and reassurance to all who want to believe in the paradise that is to come. I loved every word.
[...]
- A book that achieves the unattainable: to reconcile science with religion and philosophies on such complex issues such as: what happens after we die?, where do we come from?, where do we go to?, why is it that we are here?, what's life's sense?, does personality survive our death?, where is God?, Will I ever see my beloved departed ones? (by the way, you bet we all will!) etc...
This Deepak Chopra's masterpiece very clearly (and in simple terms) explains how is that conscience masters us and the whole cosmos. It goes on to explain with beautiful stories, metaphors and scientific evidence the mechanisms behind our brains and mind, our bodies, our souls and the definitive connections between us all and every single "thing" in the universe. We are and everything else, the expression of the cosmos!
This book prepares us all for an inevitable outcome... so, it's both, a consolation and an inspiring source of invaluable information... definitively the kind all human beings should receive as soon as we are capable of understanding that the day we are born is the day we begin to die, only to keep on living...
- I loved this book. Deepak is giving us a tour of different approaches to life a after death and it's quite objective. You can decide what you choose to believe, it's really a personal choice. Somehow, I felt compelled to investigate his proposed view on the subject because it's helping me out!
I come from a Christian background where sin was the main act. Unfortunately, I moved away from spirituality because it felt wrong...Deepak is helping me connect back with the source, the universal love that happens to flow everywhere in every one when not masked by fear, judgment, anxiety, guilt etc... A eye opening book for a better life.
- I love this guy! He is so intriguing. I have seen him on TV and always thought what he said made sense. So I bought this book... my first Deepak Chopra book. I feel that he has many important things to say, but uses long confusing sentences when he could have easily gotten away with a simpler one. I found myself rereading sentence after sentence. Its not that the vocabulary was difficult, its just that some of the wording can be a bit convoluted. Here is an example.. picked out of the book...
"If there is only one reality, as the rishis declare, then life is not a struggle between good and evil, but a tangled web where all actions, good and bad, move us closer to reality or deeper into illusion."
I mean really, that was a random example, but I had to read that twice... slowly, to get what he was saying.
"the erosion of faith has not left Paradise untouched."
So does that mean it left Paradise touched? I am not sure. The whole book is like that. But, when you finally 'get' what he is saying, it is truly profound. It just takes awhile. Or maybe its just me.

5 comments about The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence.
- Being that I'm often busy, I find this book refreshing, heartfelt and reassuring.
One thing that I love about Deepak's books are that he really tries to get us to get in touch with our spirit and our true inner self. I see this book as a reference to remind us about what our purpose in life really is.
Beautifully written. I highly recommend Deepak's books as a present to a family or a close friend, or just about anyone who's had it rough and needs encouragement. I truly appreciate his writing and hope everyone else will too.. Thanks Deepak!
- I have read the book and listened to the CD many many times and each time I felt better than before. It is a wonderful book of knowledge and wisdom. If every one read these sort of books I beleive we will live in a better world, becuase they will be happier and their desired are fulfilled.
- This book was a disappointment. I got absolutely nothing out of it. No change in my life except I'm the price of it poorer and have still yet another book to clutter my home. I have read a lot of spiritual and new
age books and again this one was way too deep and unaffective.
- "Through synchrodestiny, you can finally become the person the universe intended you to be--as powerful as desire, as creative as spirit. All it takes is an eagerness to join the cosmic dance, and a willingness to seek the miracles of the soul." ~ Deepak Chopra from "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire"
In this fantastic, wisdom-packed, yet quick-read of a book, Deepak talks about a state in which we live our lives with "an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings," where we are connected with "the underlying field of infinite possibilities."
He calls this state "synchrodestiny." It's a state "in which it becomes possible to achieve the spontaneous fulfillment of every desire."
I like the sound of that! :)
The book walks us through, in the inspiring and wise style that Deepak has mastered, the ideas we need to embody in order to consistently live connected to source and allow ourselves to experience the magic of synchrodestiny.
If you're like me, I have no doubt "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire" would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
- A difficult subject made easy. Beautifully written, with wonderful Mantras and Sutras.
Showing the importance of coincidence in our lives, when we pay attention to them.

5 comments about Quantum Healing: Exploring the Frontiers of Mind/Body Medicine.
- In my opinion, ALL of Deepak Chopra's CD's are wonderful. I own over 12 of the CD's and all of the cassettes that Dr. Chopra has ever written. Since 1995, I have listened to Dr. Chopra's audio books and have read 6 of his books as well. All of them I still own and refer to. This is an audio book that has something to offer all who have an open mind and who enjoy learning about science!
- Deepak Chopra is a long time favorite of mine. I have read Quantum Healing several times and I ordered the CD just to hear Dr. Chopra's voice. He has such a beautiful attitude toward the human condition.
- Very interesting. Great for anyone interested in traditional or alternative medicines. Also great for anyone who may need help with their health or just wants to make the most of their current health. I found it quite useful.
- For anyone really interested in learning the spiritual connection between your physical body and your health, this is a must read. Most people don't realize how much what we think and believe is reflected in our bodies and its effect on its overall health.
- I was somewhat disappointed. There are levels of activity below the microscopic in the human body. Chopra calls them quantum by default.
He says that thoughts are connected to neurotransmitters, but there is no proof for this. I've read many books on quantum physics and the mind, and I'm always looking for a book on quantum chemistry and the mind. I was hoping that Chopra would deal with quantum chemistry more specifically than he did.
