  1. i personally know much about the author of this book through a good friend of mine who knows him very well and who brought me into reading it. i found the book incredebly good, and from it i haved jumped on reading other great books that he mentions in this particular one... he is a very creative, ethical, intelligent person who has a wonderful idea for everyone who wishes it to maximize their creativity and that of those he/she loves. i love reading and i read everything from louis carrol to fritjof capra and spinoza and it is with no doubt this book which has increased my ability to predict, control and create a new vision of every aspect, not only of my life, but of the world as a whole, the most. congratulations to the author, and do not think about it twice to read it, it is with no doubt in my top 5 books, along with the phenomen of man(teilhar de chardin) and la etica (spinoza) among others.

  2. The statement of the right amount of facts and knowledge to understand the evolution of our existence, our presence and mission in life. What makes us humans different and how we can make the best out of our qualities to emulate the "Creator" and rescue the creativeness we were born with. This book offers the alternative of adopting the proposals of John David Garcia as a way of life and become significantly better in every aspect.

  3. This work is a magnificent contribution to human understanding. Though the subject matter is not particularly popular (ethics, social evolution, philosophy, collective consciousness, etc.) the content is all material that we all need to know if we are to grow and thrive as individuals and as a species.

I would like to support this book being reprinted or republished. Does anyone reading this know who currently owns the rights or the text file from which the book was printed. Since John Garcia's recent death the publishers' phone numbers printed in the book are no longer valid. ...

  1. I thought I knew a good bit about sparking my creative juices, but Aha! showed me through fun and often frustratingly challenging puzzles that there's more than one way to view a situation. The only problem is that now I lok for hidden meanings in almost everything I read...but that's well worth the price for being able to now think about things in 3D.

  2. A fun way to sharpen your creative wits. These word puzzles encourage flexible thinking, and induce the "Aha! effect" - when the lightbulb finally goes on over your head and everything becomes clear. Although some are easier than others, thinking outside the box is required for these challenging and clever brainteasers! A unique collection that will truly inspire creative thought.

5 comments about Cracking the Intuition Code : Understanding and Mastering Your Intuitive Power.
  1. Gail Ferguson provides fascinating insight into many of the unexplained feelings and "signals" that all of us experience every single day, and the impact these curious events have on our lives. Unfortunately, many of us - especially those of us who are men - tend to ignore these occurances far too often. Gail Ferguson has helped me understand that intuition is not just a "woman thing" but a meaningful force in all our lives, regardless of our gender.

She paints a clear picture of intuition as a real-world process with practical applications that can significantly alter the outcomes we experience in our lives, and illustrates the salient points with gripping, often amazing true stories and examples.

Since reading "Cracking the Intuition Code" I have been more consciously aware of and cognitively attuned to the intuitive signals that come my way. Thanks to this remarkable book, I have learned to act on those signals and follow though much more often than I had previously. When I do, I find more success and peace of mind. Unfortunately, sometimes I still ignore those intuitive signals. I am still learning that when I do things usually don't turn out as well as I would have liked.

What's more, as a professional sales trainer and performance development consultant I am incorporating many of the ideas from the book into my work. As a result, I am finding that the most successful salespeople, virtually without exception, rely on their intuition to a significant degree. I am also finding that almost all salespeople can develop more customers and close more sales by honing and practicing the skills and techniques that Gail Ferguson describes and explains in this intruiging book.

Highly recommended for everyone who wants to take their personal performance to the next level!

  2. This is a unique book about intuition because it circumvents the spiritual aspects usually associated with intuition. Instead, it proposes that this is a biologically-based sensory system that is normal for the human species. Lots of thought-provoking insights into the human mind and the pros and cons of over-rationalizing our environment. The first part could have been cut in half, but the shorter, second part is priceless. I suggest for those who prefer associating intuition with spiritual aspects of one's life, to read Carol Ann Liaros's Intuition Technologies, which has additional exercises for developing one's intuitive abilities.

  3. Buy it. You won't regret the $ spent, you won't read it and be disappointed. Ferguson knows her territory. Trish MacGregor

  4. I have been looking for a book on Intuition. Most of the books did not have much background or ways of developing your own Intuition. This book not only explains in great detail of why we as a race have Intuition, many examples of situations that had happened to the author and her friends, but also techniques on to develop your Intuition. "Cracking The Intuition Code", is what its says. You find out what it is, why we have it, and how to crack it and use it.

  5. I own this book. I read and liked it. It reasons very well on why Intuition is a natural phenomena, we humans are endowed with. Gives a scientific explanation to the purpose of intuition, with real life examples. Of tremendous value is the assertion, that intuition is a guiding force to help acheive our strongly intended life goals.

Intuition is in natures order, to act as guide to facilitate goal achievement, provide communication to help those in need. A good source to learn to harness a natural resource.

5 comments about Prayers from a NonBeliever.
  1. Even though I've just skipped around this new book, I'm compelled to write a review . . . The few pages I've read so far, made me laugh out loud and left me wanting to read the rest of the book. I'm online to buy it, now, even though I have stacks of other great material to read. My favorite authors don't tell me what to think, rather they engage me in the journey of thinking for myself. I find that Julia's inspired and entertaining writing supports me in being the best I can be.

  2. The minute I inadvertently laughed out loud in the bookstore, I knew I had to get this book. It had a wonderful conversational style that sucked me in.

I, also, am not certain of the presence of God. Set up in a series of letters to God, this book is often funny, heartbreaking, thoughtful, questioning, and inspiring... The question is, is there more to life? The letters themselves are not long, ranging from a page to several pages long.

What made the book so compelling for me is, even though the letters are to God, the author admits "God" could be anything... a force, a higher power, ourselves. He also questions when he began to lose faith, not only in God but also in himself.

It's not just about a search for God, it's also about our search for ourselves. What makes us special? Why we make the choices we do...Can we make different choices? I highly recommend this book.

  3. Like many people who study religion as a vocational choice and who often get painfully serious about it, the very term "spirituality" can send shivers up my spine. It's one of those literary categories that always seems to cover too much, yet include too little of substance, or (at worst) elevates really trivial writing to places where even angels fear to tread.

So I cautiously backed into Julia Cameron's PRAYERS FROM A NONBELIEVER, wondering what liberties would be taken with the elements of faith and soul work that I hold dear as an Anglican (Episcopal) Master of Divinity student, let alone an "ordinary" Christian of any particular denomination.

As I began reading her Dear God... entries, set in the form of a 21st-century pilgrim's diary, I asked myself this question: just what does one of America's most sought-after multimedia creative artists have to offer the "every-person" spiritual seeker, the doctrine-devouring theology student, or anyone else to whom religion is more than an abstract term? After all, it would seem on the surface that someone like Julia Cameron "has it all."

Appropriately, my fundamental question wasn't answered right away. Neither is Cameron's existential plea for a bona fide sign that God is --- period. Instead, both reader and author are deeply and often jarringly self-reflected in these brief meditations about the vast and minute nuances of life.

God is indeed within the details, as Cameron shows us when she acquires something as inconsequential as a shower stall "gizmo" to hold her tumbling toiletries; the result being a few extra moments of unhampered relaxation in which she meditates on new and better ways to connect with her Creator. But God is also amid the glories of a universe too big even for the most fertile imaginations, and Cameron is just as courageous as Captain Kirk (of Star Trek fame) about going boldly into the cosmic unknown --- albeit kicking and screaming on occasion.

In such ways, PRAYERS FROM A NONBELIEVER goes many steps further than the usual spiritual self-help guide, helping us to recognize, reclaim, and celebrate the existential out-theres and intimate in-heres of our true lives as human spiritual beings. It isn't just about nurturing warm fuzzies and feel-good notions, or about tweaking the edges of fashionable simplicity and meditation. Simply put, this can be a very challenging and sweetly humbling little book (it's only 128 pages) that bears reading over and over again until a subtle, yet unmistakable, awareness of God's presence sinks in.

As Cameron comes to realize, and so eloquently shares in this richly colored mosaic of her thoughts, connecting with God for the long run is all about enlightened patience. And that places PRAYERS FROM A NONBELIEVER among the best of today's genuine devotional literature.

  4. I am a big fan of Julia Cameron. Her book THE RIGHT TO WRITE is my favorite inspirational/jump start spiritually inclined book. How could she jump to "Dear God" letters/prayers? In this amazing book, I learned to see what Path God is taking me on as Julia follows her Path of Doubt too. Only questions lead to an answer in my opinion and Ms. Cameron once again - as with GOD IS NO LAUGHING MATTER - finds the right formula to SEE where we are in this wonderful world which God created....

  5. Julia Cameron has an honest take on prayers to a God when one just doesn't believe but deep down inside wants to. A collection of humor and raw honesty with Cameron's unique strain of authenticity.

5 comments about Write from the Heart: Unleashing the Power of Your Creativity.
  1. This is a good book for writers who already have some experience of the craft, including through personal journaling. Nothing about the techniques of writing or the genres here but rather about the "soul of writing". Hal Zina Bennett shares his development as a writer over the years and his suggestions to reconnect to the being that feeds the act of writing. One writing "exploration" is given after each chapter. The book reads quickly and is motivational in nature. This is a good companion to any book by Julia Cameron.

  2. Hal Zina Bennett lives what he writes and teaches, from the heart. I was fortunate to study writing with Hal and from this met his book "Write from the Heart." The lessons I learned were essential to me in writing, shaping, and bringing to fruition my first book, "Sightlines: A Poet's Diary."

In Chapter 9, "Higher Creativity and the Essential Wound," Hal's Core Concept is: "The writer, like the shaman storyteller of ancient times, embraces his own life experience, tells stories to the community that gathers in a circle around him, a fire blazing at its center. In the telling of what most deeply touched his life, he helps other to see that they are not alone. And in the process both storyteller and listeners are healed." I didn't know how true this was until after my book came out. I thank Hal for seeing deeply into this truth and sharing it.

"Writing from the Heart" has 13 chapters. Each chapter offers a good reason for buying, reading, using, studying, and treasuring this book.

Janet Grace Riehl, author, Sightlines: A Poet's Diary

  3. As a published author The Courage To Trust: A Guide To Building Deep And Lasting Relationships I was struggling to find purpose in writing for purely personal reasons, and wondering if I had the focus to delve into another book project. Then I attended a book signing and met Hal Z. Bennett. His love of telling/writing stories that heal and encourage others put me back on the writing path, reminding me of how important it is for each of us to share our truth. This lovely book is filled with quiet inspiration and suggestions that regrounded me and made my journal--and a book proposal--both seem good and necessary efforts. Embracing True Prosperity: Guided Visualizations & Practical Tools To Realize Your Deepest Dreams

  4. I recently bought and gave this book to a dear friend who has a talent for written expression. It's an excellent, giftable book with many tips, thoughts to ponder and loads of encouragement for aspiring writers. Buy it for yourself if you'd love to put your own experiences or thoughts on paper and you need a bit of direction... or consider tucking it into a holiday gift stash if you know someone who has a way with words. There's a lot of bang for the buck in this book. It's well worth Amazon's affordable price.

  5. What can I say? The proof is in the results! This book and Hal Zina Bennett dramatically changed my writing style. And, I had been writing for decades. I had also taken numerous writing courses at a college level. I had even self-published and helped edit other books. But, Hal taught me how to "write from the heart" and shift my writing from an informational to a conversational style! The result? I got published from Hampton Roads Publishers with my first book Beyond the Secret. Want to learn how to REALLY write? Buy this book!

  2. I bought this because the author covers the fears and "stuck" feelings that accompany achieving what you want. However you go about accomplishing your goals, being really persistent, using Law of Attraction, what have you, you have to confront any fears you have about actually accomplishing your dream as well as staying on target toward accomplishing that dream. However, the author's solution for everything and the key to accomplishing what you want is to write everything down-- and that's it. She doesn't really go into how you can subconsciously be thwarting yourself despite consciously focusing on your goals, and how you can bring your subconscious mind in line to finally reach those goals. Writing your goals down is a very good first step, but you have to really, truly believe what you write will happen, and it's easy for your subconscious to send out enough doubt about it actually working to hold up any progress. Good intentions in the book, but not very substantial.

  3. "Although she was astonished at the way things unfolded, Marian was not surprised that writing it down was part of the process that set the wheels in motion. She sums it up by saying that when you write something down, you begin to define what you know and, therefore, what you want." ~ pg. 177

Be careful what you write down, it might just happen to you! While Henriette Klauser explores the magical power of writing down your goals she is also realistic. You may find that reading this book brings up your fear of success. What happens if your dreams start coming true? Are you prepared for the life changing power you possess?

Whether you are looking for your soul mate or you just want to lose weight, this book has something to offer. I personally know people who write things down and they tell me of their success. The power is in the thought, not just that you were serious enough to write it down. That is why it is so important to monitor your thought life to eradicate negative thoughts.

To make this book practical, each chapter ends with exercises and instructions so you can put the lessons into practice. I actually have a list of life goals (posted at my site) that I wanted to achieve. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a few more goals had come true. One of my goals was to take more vacations by the sea and I was invited to go on a trip with my aunt who loves the ocean. I also wanted to review everything I own and basically accomplished that goal last year. My cookbook has also been recently published and that was a goal I wrote down that took years to accomplish.

    ~The Rebecca Review

P.S. A new goal: I want to live in a beautiful home with a pool and an apple tree in the backyard. The yard will also be filled with lavender plants so the scent will waft through the office window.

  4. I loved this book and now include it - with a beautiful journal - in my "welcome package" to women entreprenuers I coach. It is a fun and powerful read... with examples that inspire you to begin writing down your goals immediately so you can see results quickly! I highly recommend it!

    Dedicated to your WOW factor,

    [...]

  5. Write It Down Make It Happen is an amazing tool to help bring about all your dreams in a constructive manner. Thoughts are things! Beware what you wish for -- you WILL get it!

The author sets you on the right track to achieve all that you can dream, directing those dreams in a positive direction.

I can tell you that it does work, and I encourage you to buy this book and use it. You are in charge. Why are you waiting?

5 comments about Quantum Leap Thinking: An Owner's Guide to the Mind.
  1. The principles of quantum physics (and all of its 'relations') has finally made its way into the realm of human behavior and thinking through the easy to read and apply book by Mapes. This book will appeal to those whose center of control is located within themselves. For those with a center of control external to themselves, or those with a locus in reciprocity--as in the form of some 'System', i.e., ...isms of any nature, or formal religions, it would be more of a struggle. Precisely because 'You create a reality that adapts to your point of view', is a fundamental principle on which the universe is based. Challenging to some, breathtaking to others, this is fundamentally one of the finest books to ever spell out the functioning of human behavior based on a taking of personal responsibility. A 21st Century jump-start!

  2. This is a book that can be viewed as two complementary ways:
    1) It is a summary of a lot of ideas from a great number of other self-help books. It adds valuable quotes and phrases from other books, and tries to make a unified view from suc different subjects and areas as NLP or (Neuro Linguistic Procesing) to Yoga, self-meditation and even hipnosis.

    2) The author creates theorems (valid truths) that can help you realize how you can relax and see your life more transparently, like if you were seeing yourself through the eyes of another person. He creates 14 steps to accomplish this - so that you can gradually become more daring and more self-controlled at the same time.

This is a book that is not a revelation... Far from that.
However is a good reading and can help anyone to get a different view of themselves, guiding you to get a more fullfilling life, and become happier with themselves, by changing somethings or by letting you know how to stop and just relaize how you are doing today.

  3. I bought this book and then did some background checking on the author. Seems Mapes's PhD is from a "diploma mill" - a phony and now defunct outfit that purported to be "San Moritz University," but is really just a printing shop. In fact, San Moritz is one of a group of unaccredited "universities," many of which were closed in an ongoing effort by the FTC. Since San Moritz claimed a UK address, it is not a recognised body as described by the UK Education Reform Act either. San Moritz was famous for giving out academic qualifications, transcripts and phoney reference letters to anyone, sight unseen, just for a few bucks. Do a Google search on San Moritz University, and you will see what I mean :-).

  4. Tony Robbins and Zig Ziglar right behind. This book is intended to improve Your Self -Steem, -Knoledge and -Confidence to its very roots. As you realize that to be true, it will become mandatory as a reading.

  5. Although James J. Mapes's self-help book is stronger than average and includes some colorful stories from the author's life, it offers essentially predictable advice. Mapes uses the physics metaphor of quantum mechanics creatively, to show how you can make major life improvements, freeing yourself from the fear and inertia that may have held you back in the past. An actor, clinical hypnotist and corporate speaker, Mapes also includes a valuable section on how to encourage better teamwork. The material on visualization is strong, and we recommend the volume to both self-help devotees and newcomers.
