1. I find this story to be deeply moving...true stories are more disturbing than any fiction...



2. A story so chilling that it left me weeping and angry that a system chose to ignore and/or cover up this child's misery. It has made me open my eyes to my own surroundings. Well written to the point that I felt I was there.



3. Upon starting this book i found it hard to place down. A truly moving story of a youth tragedy. I feel that more colleges could make use of this book in there teaching of literature. A really excellent read.



4. This book was very well written and tells the true, tragic story of Tammy King, a foster child caught up in the system of Child Protection Services. Her story deserved to be told and I thank Tom Moore for making sure it was. I hope everyone in a profession that brings them in contact with children in need read this book. It screams the same question I asked about the adults in my environment during my childhood, "Is anyone watching these people?" Tom Moore's truthful answer to that question is 'probably not.' How sad and shameful.

1. I'm enjoying this highly unique method of poetic storytelling. The reader doesn't just follow and experience the struggles with Shairi. Her journey forces you to take an in depth look at yourself and where you are in your journey. The ancestral whispers and excercises encourage and challenge you along the way. Definitely food for the soul.



2. Read Shairi's Journey and experience an on-going process of empowerment and self-realization. At first glance, notice the visual poetic presentation of each page "written in sing-song words." Simplicity of this uncluttered, free-flowing format invited my eyes to read the words. And the words, powerful words, reach out, grab and focus attention to the raw emotional state of the speaker. Four of these writings spoke to me and for me. Read the book! At some point you may be connecting the frustrations, anxieties, pain, fear, joy and expectations of your own journey through life. For this purpose the author invites your personal participation in the "Excercises" after each of the nine presentations. She reminds us "Wherever you are now is a minor stop along one continuous journey." Very well written, packaged and presented.



3. This book is not one that you read and then put on a shelf. I have gone back many times to experience the Ancestral Whispers, the awsome exercises, as well as the poetic renderings of Shairi. In reading this book, I also experienced the emotions of love, sadness, joy, fear, anger, elation and self realization. Shaunelle Curry's book will bring growth in all who read it.



4. Shairi's Journey is one of those rare life transforming books that is as functional as it is inspiring. Shaunelle Curry's character Shairi speaks to many of my own experiences and of those close to me. It is one of the few books that I return to time after time for inspiriation and practical steps to help me "get over" some of the ruts and depressive moods I get into. It has also been my gift of choice to family and friends this holiday season.



5. Many of us have a tendency to let the "past get in our eyes", so to speak, and find it difficult to stimulate and maneuver our own healing, growth and empowerment. Through her impassioned, authentic, soul-for-real writing and exercises, author Shaunelle Curry masterfully moves the reader, from the darkness--spiritual, emotional, or otherwise, to a much lighter place of recognition, comfort and peace. This book is a powerful journey--one that I feel fortunate to be able to take with Shairi. As a freshman project, I can only dare to imagine what Curry will share with us next. Buy several copies, for yourself, for others and enjoy it for the love of words, poetry, and self.

1. I am the writer. I have not pushed or publicized the book at length because if you read it you might get digusted with the first couple of chapters. However it is T R U T H and truth can never be wrong. It's an honest look at what happened to me. It is also about recovery on a holistic level.
   It is not a book for children but for people who are trying to find their real selves it is an excellant resource as I delve into my past and show the way I recovered.
