- This was a great help to me as I prepared for my finals. The last few pages are especially helpful in summerizing the numerous reactions in organic chemistry. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a concise review before a test.
- This book simplifies the many aspects covered in "Fessenden & Fessenden" book, and the rxn's at the end are extremely helpful to study for exams. Unfortunately, this book doesn't really get into nucleic acids, but it does a great job covering all functional groups synthesis & rxns! A key book for reference as well as explanations regarding intermediates for rxns. A+
- This guide got me through organic chem, I only wish I'd bought it earlier in the semester and I might have four-pointed the class. Great idea if you're having a hard time studying by lecture alone. Gives very simple, concise summaries of concepts with lots of examples and diagrams.

- i am using this for my organic class currently. we don't use it often, it is more for using tables and the homework examples, but it really isn't that bad.
granted i haven't looked at a lot of other organic textbooks, but, as far as texbooks go, it isn't bad.
- My only real qualm with this book (other than the fact that I had to buy it for Organic Chemistry) was that sometimes the explanations were very simple to understand and helped what was said in class immensely, and sometimes they really didn't make any sense at all. Good enough book though.
- You can learn o-chem from this book, especially if you have a good professor, but others are better. When I took the course, many of the students who did well were using Wade or McMurry as supplemental texts. I later tutored for a section which used the McMurray book and realized why - most of the mechanisms are explained better in those other books than they are in Brown, and some of the material, eg epoxide reactions, in Brown is so simplified that I realized when I was tutoring that I had learned it wrong the first time.
The chapter organization of the book is nice, as is the artwork, and I thought the problems were reasonable. The solutions manual came in very handy though.
If you are required to use this text, I would recommend looking for a used copy of Wade or McMurray as well
- They had everything I needed along with course software in the book. It was delivered promptly and without any problems.
- I ordered this book on a Monday and it was on my doorstep on Wednesday, I was very impressed by the speed and courtesty of the seller. Thank you so much!

1 comments about Organic Chemistry Laboratory: Standard and Microscale Experiments.
- This book contains an exceptionally strong coverage of spectroscopy. Proton and carbon NMR are well explained, with detailed tables to predict and justify chemical shifts. IR spec is also well explained. A limited discussion of mass spec is also present. The laboratory exercises are clear in most cases, with a few minor exceptions. Be sure to read the instructions before lab as a few exercises contin ambiguous instructions that become more clear if the entire lab is read first. The number of syntheses is excellent, and many laboratory exercises contain interesting procedures that result in various colored, or common products. As a student of one of the authors, Dr. Douglas F. Taber, I have found this book to be a useful reference for spectroscopy as well as an excellent lab text.

5 comments about Structure Determination of Organic Compounds: Tables of Spectral Data.
- If you are taking a class in organic spectroscopy or use NMR all the time in your lab, then this book is a must. Gives you table after table of chemical shifts for C-13 NMR, H1-NMR, IR, Mass Spec, and UV/Vis. It also comes with a very useful NMR Predictor CD.
- This is the best organic spectroscopy book I have ever found. If you have to take any kind of organic spec class, this is definitely a must.
- I'm taking an organic spectroscopy course for my graduate program in Organic chemistry and my exams consist of MS, IR, proton NMR, and C13 NMR spectra.
This book is absolutely incredible. It gives you chemical shifts for nearly every conceivable structure for proton and C13 NMR and it also gives you absorptions for the IR frequencies of known functional groups. It has helped me many times in trying to determine the structure of an unknown compound.
Like the other reviewer said, this book is the bible of organic spectroscopy. I see it being used all the time in the organic research lab when graduate students are trying to figure out what they synthesized.
- The book was in perfect condition and was sent at time.
I will agree that my first experience with Amazon was an excellent one.
Thank you
- this book contains a lot of information, but organized in such a way that is easy to find what you need.

5 comments about Aromatherapy for the Healthy Child: More Than 300 Natural, Nontoxic, and Fragrant Essential Oil Blends.
- I took an aromatherapy weekend seminar as an introductory to this fascinating subject. Was I surprised as to how interesting and versitile aromatherapy is. As a mother of 4 young children,I have always used natural medicine as a first priority and this has saved us many trips to the doctor and many doses of unwarranted antibiotics. I did not realize the potential that essential oils possess until I took the seminar. I bought this book after I took the seminar and have used it lots especially the oil blends for respiratory problems. I also have used her other book called The Fragrant Pharmacy and this book is LOADED with information. This lady knows her oils and is one of the best there is.You won't regret buying it!
- This book was worth the price for the "sniffles and snuffles" recipe alone! A single drop of that remedy and my chronically ear-infected, sinus infected child 18 month old easily without any cough syrup (which upsets his stomach violently).
This book is an excellent reference for those wishing to use essential oils on children. It breaks the oils for use down by age and each recipe gives allowable substitutions, so you can tailor it for the child with whom you are working.
I use both of Ms. Wormwood books extensively. She generously shares her knowledge and her craft.
- I Love this book, I use it for all memebers of my family.
Its not just for kids, each blend can be used on anyone.
I love the science of EOs, however this book doesnt offer that info on it, but does offer the BEST BLENDS I have ever used.
I know what each oil does, and even when I am sure of what oils I am going to use I find myself opening this book and each oil I have thought on my own to use because I know how great it is for a certain condition, is the oils she has mentioned to use.
Plus the ease of finding what you are need to a blend for is great. The A to Z type of format is wonderful.
As I mentioned I am aware of each oils chemical makeup and find this book to give the best oil for each conditoin.
This is a MUST HAVE. You will be so PLEASED.
Plus make sure to blend up the room disfect spray. I love this spray and use to so often.
BUY this BOOK you will always find yourself going to it.
- Unlike Worwoods other book The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home Environment, the oils she suggests in this one are difficult to come by. I have used many of her suggestions for other modalities and have found them helpful.
- I absolutely love this book. I have both books by her and use them both and find myself refering to this one alot more. I even use it on myself and it works wonderfully. There are cures for almost everything in here... Like I said I love this book!!! I really don't need another baby/kids book because it's all here.

3 comments about The Science of Chocolate (Issues in Environmental Scienc).
- If you were ever interested where chocolate came from, this is the book to answer your questions. With a reasonably thorough explanation, Beckett explains the engineering and scale aspects of the industrial production of chocolate. He makes is abundently clear that you do not want to produce chocolate from the raw bean.
He also covers the techniques used to determine the quality and character of the confection. Good for the scientist or intelligent chocolatier alike.
- This book is the reference document for anyone truly interested in producing chocolate from cacao beans. Beckett is clearly detailing the chemical process at play, the methods currently used and the tools required. A serious professional work, this book is worth every penny. Following these explanations, putting hard work and some money in equipment you'll be able to start your chocolate production business. Unless this book makes you realize that the path from beans to truffle is arduous, technical and serious and ... therefore extremely rewarding if you persevere and have success.
- Pretty interesting read. Using the book in my independent study course on the Science of Chocolate. Some information is irrelevant...obviously I am not doing commercial grade chocolate preparation, but overall it is a very interesting book.
