- I love that the author basically gives you her own notes. She breaks everything down very well.
- Several sample problems are worked out in every chapter to illustrate the material covered. They are all very clearly explained.
In addition, there are also more than enough problems at the end of each chapter to help students better understand the topics covered, however the answers are not provided in the back of the textbook.
This is precisely why the solutions manual is a must buy. I have worked all the problems presented from chapter 1 to chapter 21 (to include the end of chapter problems), and I have encountered only two or three "bad problems" for which the answers were not explained clearly. Almost every answer to every problem is clearly illustrated - some concepts are even better explained in the solutions manual than in the textbook!
It's expensive, but it's worth the money if you use it properly. I'd wish the buyer good luck in this class, but I doubt any disciplined, devoted student would need it after using this text.
- This study guide/solutions manual matches the first edition of Organic Chemistry. Questions have been changed, rearranged, and added in the second edition, and the guide isn't nearly as useful or easy to use with it.

- I ordered a used book for my daughter. Even though there were plenty available when I ordered, I received an email about a week later saying that the order was being refunded with no other explanation.
- Students in chemistry, this book is clear and colorful to a better understanding of this though class.
- This seems like a well-organized and helpful book. Even more helpful, perhaps, had I opened it for the class...oops.
- This book is nicely written for someone who is not going to be an organic chemist. It is easy to read and understand. One downfall I will mention is that it is so easy to read, students are many times fooled into thinking that they understand the material. But overall, good features including helpful graphics, summaries and examples.
- I'm in my second semester of organic chemistry and really struggled the first semester because my prof doesn't ellaborate on anything, likes to keep lectures generalized, and believes it's best that we learn on our own through the book. The $250 book we had to buy for the class is so wordy and poorly organized. We usually have 7-8 chapters on one exam (about every 3-4 weeks) and some of the chapters are 80-100 pages. When I study things I like the text or my notes I get caught up on the little things if it's not neatly/concisely/clearly written. This book is exactly what I love. It uses many colors to perfectly keep things easily readable. I had read hundreds of reviews (I'm not even kidding) about how wonderful Wade's texts are and how he teaches it as if you were a little kid--it's so true. You seriously cannnot read one of his chapters and not understand. I never use my other text anymore even if I know where the info I'm looking for is at. It is seriously one of the best science textbooks I have ever had because of how it's formated. He also has great examples in it that are useful....like ones that are often on our labs and on quizes/exams. The end of the chapter summaries are the best thing too. He literally sums everything up by writing all of the equations so everything is all on a couple of pages. I've photocopied many of the chapter reviews because they're such a concise and clean form of my notes.

- It's a great edition of the book, and I appreciate it very much! I'm very happy with the shipping and condition of the book, and it was great overall!
- I received this book promptly and in excellent condition at a reduced price than the local college bookstore.
- This book is a very good and comprehensive view of the basics in general, organic, and biological Chemistry. I also like the fact that the book gives many examples and problems to work with. I recommend the study guide which can be purchased separately to go along with this book as it has been a very useful tool for me in my effort to complete this course.
- I'm glad I checked Amazon instead of buying this book from school. I saved a lot of money. The book came super fast and was in like-new condition, better than I expected!
- This is a great book. I am using it to review for the DAT. It is very helpful and worth the money. The book is easy to read and has great questions after every chapter.

- This is the study guide companion to the text (which I am finding quite good). It is essential to work the book to develop the foundation of concepts necessary for this course. However, many chemistry texts offer solutions for at least even or odd numbered problems in the back of the textbook, then offer a reasonably priced study guide that works the problems more fully. The Solomons et al text gives absolutely no answers so you are forced to buy this study guide - which is extremely pricey - in order to really get any value out of the text. I actually need to learn this subject and even on Amazon the duo cost me $200. At this price, I would have liked more thoroughness on some of the worked solutions. Some you get, some you don't.

- This is the book you need to know about General, Organic and Biological Chemistry. You won't regret because it is very straightforward and easy to follow. You can learn a great deal out of this book.
- Why did the price drop 100$ right after the semester started. I paid 167$ for this book four weeks ago now it is 61$? WTF Amazon, that is crooked as hell.

- very helpful for organic chemistry lab, very clear directions and the author writes in a way geared towards students so it is funny
- Zubrick's manual gives a comprehensive overview of fundamental lab methods. I've found it to be very useful on many ocassions. However, some of the explanations could be improved with discussion of the theory, especially the sections on chromatography. Even so, it's cheaper than other books and explains many techniques very well.
- This is a phenomenal book in which Mr. Zubrick brings down the complexities involved in Organic Chemistry Lab into terms that undergraduates can understand. Also, in something I've never seen done before, he adds humor to his writing. I actually enjoy reading this book, and get more out of it then any other lab text I've ever read. If you take Organic Chemistry Lab without it, you're doing yourself a pretty big diservice.
- This small book was a requirement in my organic chemistry lab last year. Unfortunately, I think I'm the only one who actually read it. Had others cracked the binding a few times I imagine there would have been fewer exploding flasks and spilled beakers. This awesome little text explains (with humor) the best ways to set up apparatus for experiments, to avoid explosions, and to get in and out of the lab quickly with as few mistakes as possible. I'm happy to report that I never lost any glassware to an explosion, though I did lose a couple pieces to carelessness. Zubrick also covers basic distillation, separation, washing, and extraction techniques, as well as briefly covering spectroscopy. A very simple and helpful book for ochem undergrads.
- This book is the definitive guide to organic chemistry, whether you're a student or graduate, everything is in here! I bought is as a required book for Organic Lab I, but I recommend it as a reference for any chemist.

- It is a text book and had to be bought for a university class...at much less than it is going at the campus book store. It is the same book, newest edition, that is being used in class.
- Organic Chemistry is all about working problems out. The authors of the book should probably consider putting more problems into the book, because the cornucopia of practice needed and the minuscule amount provided do not go very well.
- The book was received on time and in perfect condition. I don't think that it was stated in the original ad that the edition is the international one, but it is exactly the same as the US one, so I was fine with it. That's all :)
- I found this book very easy to understand, as a first year student taking organic chemistry I was glad to see that is book had visual images so I could furthur understand the material. I would recommend getting the solutions manuel also.
- thanks for the book it helped me save my parents alot of money this fall

- Even if you do not attend any O. Chem class, you can study this book and learn a lot. I took Organic Chemistry at University last year and we used a different book for that class. O. Chem by Vollhardt provides some more materials than needed for the first and second year of O. Chem class, but it helps you to have a better understanding about the subject.
- Perfect condition, exactly what I was looking for, and much cheaper than buying it from my bookstore!
- My class lecture was great! So I didn't really use the book as much. If anything, I used it for the questions after each chapter and reviewed it on the study guide which I purchased separately. Can't say too much, but it definitely came free shipping, fast shipping, and was priced below what the school was offering.
- This book is simple to understand even amidst all the details it provides. The explanations are clear and concise while explaining all the jargon and convention. The Vollhardt text also gives a really good background to why reactions occur rather than plopping reactions on the page.

- I feel that this book is fine for a reference to the text book problems. The only complaint is that going through nearly the first half of the book, I have found a few minor typos.
- I bought this book along with the Bruice text for the organic class I'm taking right now. A solutions manual is indispensable for checking the answers to the problems you do - so I was going to buy the book anyway. Problem is, it looks like this solutions manual is the solutions manual for the 5th editon, only with a new cover so it looks like it's for the 6th edition. This would be fine, except that the problems in the 5th edition are not the same problems used in the 6th edition. I'd say that 90% of the time, the solutions manual is right - but is 90% good enough for people who are trying to learn the subject, and just end up getting more confused by a solutions manual with solutions for the wrong problem?? I think the publisher should offer a correct copy free to anyone who shelled out $88 for this book.
- I benefited from this book immensely. If you are taking this class do yourself a big favor and buy it. If you are going to do something do it right and working the problems is the key. I got it for around 30$.
- The book arrived faster than the quoted time and it was in great condition. The inside had no markings and the cover was not damaged in any way. Would buy from this seller again.
- I received an A in this class, and it was a lot of hard work. It would've been impossible without this solutions manual! In addition to giving all the answers and a brief explanations for some of them, each chapter has a small quiz at the end which are great study tools. Also there is some vocab at the beginning of each chapter which always seemed to find its way into my exams! I have not given this manual five stars because there were some errors and inconsistencies between the questions in the textbook and the answers in the manual. And I'm not talking about different editions, but rather just plain old mistakes. Like another reviewer said, they need a better editor.
