5 comments about The Bipolar Workbook: Tools for Controlling Your Mood Swings.
  1. This is an outstanding tool for anyone who is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Each exercise provides insight into the patterns and actions caused by the disease. This knowledge is the true value of this book. Here is a book that actually provides tools to recognize symptoms and control them. This is power over the disease and the real win for a patient. A final positive is that the completed workbook is itself a reference tool of personal triggers, disease patterns and treatment therapies. I strongly recommend this to anyone who is diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

  2. This book is so awesome for someone who has been newly diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. It breaks down the disorder into manageable chunks that make it easier to deal with. It saved me! I am so much more in control now that I have the tools to be so.

  3. In my opinion, this book doesn't apply for people with bipolar II at all. I found it somewhat insulting. Too me it came across like 'never second guess your Dr, he knows better than you', or 'oh yes, Mom, you are right, I didn't take my meds yesterday, sorry for being irritable, and thanks for taking such good care of me'.

For most people with Bipolar II one of the main problems is not to have a reference point, or the inability to 'take up your spot in the universe', as my yoga teacher puts it. In my case, I often suffer from good old plain overstimulation (too many people, too much commotion, too loud, too bright, unpleasant smells, low pain tolerance, food that is too spicy). The 21st century is all about overstimulation. I was hoping for insights on how to set boundaries without braking bridges, on how to embrace bipolar as a challenge to grow other than just look at it as a nuisance. You won't find any help with that in this book.

    A big disappointment!

  4. Whether you are suffering from Bipolar disorder or knows someone who does, this book is a must have.

  5. The bipolar workbook has helped me cope with having bipolar disorder. I highly recommend anyone to read it. Anyone who knows someone that has bipolar..this book is the way to go. Im soo much better without meds.

5 comments about Surgical Recall (Recall Series).
  1. Surgery is a difficult rotation in terms of content and time commitment. Therefore, it's best to study to maximize your time. This book will prepare you for surviving rounds and those pimp sessions while you are retracting. The book is well organized by topic and great to quickly review before discussing/encountering a particular patient. The book saved me several times during a long surgery. However, of note, to survive the shelf exam and osce, you will need a textbook as well. Good choices to supplement this book would be Essentials of General Surgery or First Aid for the Surgery Clerkship.

  2. This book is great! You can carry it around with you to quickly review before cases, or even in the clinic. Almost every pimp question I have gotten was in this book!!

  3. Great for surgery because it goes over anatomy (perfect for OR days) and different diseases/pathophysiology (great for rounding). Must-have for surgery clerkship.

  4. This book is in short, Q&A style, and is excellent for quick review, especially when you have 10 minutes before a case starts. During surgeries, I got asked a lot of questions straight out of the book. A more thorough book is needed for in-depth info, but this book is great to carry around with you and read in those rare spare minutes.

  5. Great book, great series. good to test what you know and some hit points that you might not find anywhere else.

5 comments about Sink Reflections.
  1. I have really struggled with clutter. When we were married and my husband was deployed, in the apartment I had a narrow walkway from the door to the bedroom, and I kept stacking the dirty dishes to make room for more, everything else was lined with clutter. When we moved to a four bedroom home, one room and two closets were so filled, we could never use the stuff. Now, we are divorced, and I had a two bedroom apartment stuffed with boxes from the four bedroom home. Again with the walkways. I checked this book out from the library, kept re-reading the parts about what clutter does to our lives, then my former in-laws came to visit and I was mortified to admit, face to face, how I am raising our daughter in this mess. There it was, thrown open, no hiding, how I am living. So, I put the book in action, and with our daughter's help, within three days, the living room and kitchen were clean and clear. Now, we may sit down! And I may find the pet supplies, tools, towels, markers, shoes, and coats, right where they ought to be, right when I need them. It is so nice, and like Martha Cilley says, peaceful at home. I make a goal for this summer to clear the last untamed terrain of my own bedroom. All boxes, just a walkway. I have 6 weeks. Martha Cilley tells of a room she cleaned by giving away, throwing away, or putting away two items per day, until. I HIGHLY recommend "Sink Reflections".

  2. In this book Marla Cilley explains in full detail how she recaptured
her life....she is an expert at helping others "get a grip" on housework &
decluttering your home and your life! Chapter by chapter she takes you
in baby steps so as not to overwhelm you...as housework can tend to be
very overwhelming......not with Marla...believe me, if you will just
give this book a chance - read a chapter each day - you will be amazed.
I had tried everything!!! I didn't even know about the book until a
friend referred me to www.flylady.net....I can assure you that if you
read this book, you will NEVER have to do spring housecleaning again.

  3. This book was absolutely a joy to read ~ and as depressed as I am about my house right now, I do see hope..LOL! Easy to read and you just don't want to put it down. A+++++

  4. First, I'll say that I'm an atheist, and the author's religious beliefs, or her expression of them, do not bother me. This is America and we are all entitled to express what we believe, and we all know we're not under obligation to agree with each other. So to those so offended by what she references(God Breezes, etc.), I don't really get it.

Second, I am a single woman with no children who works full-time and lives at home with my mother. I do virtually all of the cooking and cleaning, and have since I was 12 or 13. Far from being a disorganized clutterbug, I know how to clean a house very nicely, I am an expert at laundry, I never have trouble throwing anything out and I'm a great cook. I am not upset by the fact that she wrote this book for someone living a different lifestyle than myself- I take what I need from the system and leave the rest. Not really why this seems to be such an issue for some of the people who wrote negative reviews. Truth is, most women do live a lifestyle similar to the author(wives, mothers, etc.), which is why she has such a following.

With all of my housekeeping skills, though, I grew up learning absolutely no sense of routine or habits, which is what the author is talking about. You can be great at cleaning a house and still have a house that looks like crap on a day-to-day basis. I never grew up making my bed each morning or washing the dishes each night. Like a lot of kids with single parents, I had very little structure to my life and the chaos was something that followed me into adulthood.

What FlyLady helped me to do was set up a control journal where I knew what had to be done each day and when. Now, I still not do everything in "perfect" order each day, which she will tell you herself is fine(in fact, she hates the word "perfect"). I am a very intelligent person, but trying to keep a house in the midst of working full-time can be very overwhelming. It can be very confusing just to know where to start. Seeing what I need to do when, written out in black and white, just made it much more effortless. Step-by-step, my chores are laid out, and simply not having to put much thought into what to do next makes a task that much quicker and easier. Before you know it, these habits are so routine, they don't seem like an effort at all.

Before Flylady, my house would be clean for about 5 minutes once a week(on Saturday, after I spent 6 hours cleaning...) and a disaster the rest of the time. Now, by doing 30-45 minutes of work a day, my house is always company-ready. I don't panic if the maintenance man or a friend needs to drop by. That, in and of itself, is worth everything to me. I pretty much knew what needed to be done, sure- but I needed a SYSTEM of when to do it. That is what Flylady helps you to do. Even if I miss a day or something, I know exactly what I need to do to get my home back on track, and that eliminates a ton of stress.

I will just end by saying that many of us grew up in chaotic homes where we never established the habits, household and otherwise, that made our lives feel safe, stable and secure. On an emotional level, I think that this book is helpful to those of us who never got to make these "simple" things habit. It has nothing to do with intelligence- it has everything to do with how we are programmed. The cool part is, we can reprogram ourselves, even as adults. If you want to get some order and good habits established in your chaotic life, I don't see how this book could be anything but helpful.

  5. It is not too much to say that this book (and the author's associated website) changed my life. I read it four years ago and still consult it on an irregular basis. Marla Cilley teaches us not only how to get our homes in order (and this in itself is no mean task; I used to be traumatised by my house, because of my 'perfect' homemaker mother who made me feel inadequate) but also, strangely, how to get peace into our lives. All this is explained in simple babysteps and a lovely, chatty, no-nonsense tone of voice. Above all, Marla Cilley has been there and done it, and she really understands us women struggling with house, kids, career, life. There is no hype here and no pretense at having the key to solving it all, just simple steps and routines. I implemented most things straight away and although my house is far from 'perfect' (which, in the author's mind, is a good thing! read and find out why), everything is so much more in order than it was. I recommend this book with all my heart.

5 comments about The Energy Medicine Kit.
  1. I read Donna Eden's Energy Medicine from a library copy and needed something of my own until the new edition came out. It was a nicely condensed version that was unbelievable easy to read and use. I highly recommend it for getting someone started in energy medicine. I actually had to buy a second kit because my cousin took my first one.

  2. This kit is a great introduction to safe and practical energy work that will gradually lift, harmonize and rebalance your systems. Anyone wanting to start healing themselves should buy it in my opinion; it's my first recommend in the field of spiritual self-healing. In terms of effectiveness, easy learnability, safety and even fun, these practices have outperformed everything else I've tried that was similar, including some forms of qigong and tai chi. You can see for yourself that there are 43 positive reviews written prior to mine, and not a single negative one.

Most of the exercises given here have been very helpful to me, and a couple have practically revolutionized my existence. There were also a couple that didn't seem to do good things for me, but perhaps I should have expected that, as my energy system does behave rather oddly at times.

The presentation is excellent. There's a crystal, which I didn't use much, plus a DVD and a CD. The DVD is a recording of a workshop with Eden herself, demonstrating the techniques with a small studio audience, and the CD is her speaking directly to the listener and describing further techniques. You will have no trouble learning her ideas or methods, she communicates them perfectly.

To me the most valuable thing in the kit was the deck of cards. As opposed to putting the exercises in book format, 43 cards are provided which detail one exercise per card. This has been so useful to me. I do two meditation sessions every day; in the morning, I have a stack of cards ready with my personal group of exercises (including the basic exercises Eden says are most important). I change these every now and then, and swap cards in and out from my regular exercises according to what I need in a given week. In the evening I experiment more, thumbing through the rest of the deck and picking out more things to try. As a result I have gradually tried everything and worked out what's good for me in a very improvisational way.

Also in the kit is a slim booklet written by Eden, containing some basic energy information and autobiographical details. She is as warm, sincere and sensitive as one would expect, and she is also highly intelligent and inspiring on her subject matter.

I give this kit my warmest recommendation.

  3. The DVD shows demos of the energy exercises with a live audience. The exercises are easily learned and are VERY effective. I had to buy a second kit because everyone wants to borrow it. GET THIS PRODUCT!

  4. I have had energy healing done some years ago for a few health concerns and it truly was amazing how it helped balance my health and overall wellness. Searching for health tools on Amazon, to add to my ever growing collection, I found this amazing kit and I couldn't be more pleased by it's content and extremely helpful exercises. The DVD is amazing, the CD was downloaded onto my MP3 so I can use it when I am walking, working or traveling. They both allow me to continue to learn and grow as my own energy healer and benefit from all the great tools it shares. I have used some of the exercises on my husband and I will continue to share with other friends and family who are interested, the results are truly remarkable. I highly recommend this kit! You wont be disappointed if energy healing is new to you or if you're in search of a kit that can continue supporting your practices.

  5. I sent for the kit after having read the book Energy Medicine by Donna Eden and David Feinstein. The kit was illuminating. I was skeptical and am so, no longer.

5 comments about Freaks, Geeks & Asperger Syndrome: A User Guide to Adolescence.
  1. This book is intended for a person with Asperger's however, it can also be used by a child being bullied.

  2. This was a great resource for us as parents of an Asperger son to get an idea of how the adolescent with Asperger thinks and relates to others. It will eventually be a great book to let our son read. The adolescent author of this book feels very strongly that all Asperger children should be told what they have (by name) so that they won't feel like something is wrong with them, but will come to understand that they are the way they are because of Aspergers.

  3. This book is a keeper. Luke speaks from experience and shares his experience and suggestions for kids with aspergers, parents, friends and physicians on how a an AS kid can handle real-life situations by sharing what has worked for him. This book is an easy read and would be good for teens and adults to read whether they have AS themselves or are related to or know someone who does.

  4. I read it, my Dad read it in 2 days. Very practical, humorous. When my son, with Asperger's, gets a little older, I will give this book to him. I want to meet Luke Jackson. What a great personality!

  5. Luke Jackson, the thirteen-year-old author of this book, says he wrote it because "so many books are written about us, but none are written directly to adolescents with Asperger Syndrome. I thought I would write one in the hope that we could all learn together." And he does an amazing job of appealing to his peers in a colloquial manner. Jackson's style is almost precocious at times, but effective. He tackles many topics, includinging sensory perception, physiology, and sleep, listing some helpful tips. For example, Jackson suggests to look at people's mouths when they're talking, which is close enough to making eye contact. The section on physiology discussed, among other things, the GF/CF diet.

Next Jackson writes about language difficulties, dealing with slang and idioms, and suggests to parents that they write out steps to complete a task and give clear and specific instructions. The next chapters cover school problems and bullying, with some tips for dealing with bullies, stressing that it's important to tell someone. Jackson then mentions Taekwondo for self-defense, as well as the many other benefits it provides. The following three chapters deal with friendships, dating, and morals and principles. The "morals and principles" chapter also is beneficial in that it stresses not to let people entice you to do something that is wrong, that you don't need friends like that.

The end of the book has a nice positive note about AS people being amazing in their own ways, even if not savants (after a discussion about the movie Rainman). It is certainly amazing for a thirteen-year-old to write such an organized, insightful book. I found it to be very helpful, including the appendices on idioms (with definitions of being "on cloud nine" and "don't cry over spilled milk") and references for further information (books, websites, and organizations). All in all, a worthwhile book for parents and kids alike.

5 comments about The Body Remembers: The Psychophysiology of Trauma and Trauma Treatment.
  1. This book is wonderful. It is the best of many books I have read on trauma's effects and the treatment of trauma survivors. As a survivor myself, I found the book immensely calming. It illuminated many things I did not notice and explained so many parts of myself that I have lost touch with or no longer understand. Most importantly, it gave truly effective ways of communicating with myself and my body in order to calm myself and learn effective coping mechanisms.

Aside from all that, the book is just plain interesting. The mind-body connection is a fascinating thing. Wow!

  2. Shipped quickly and in wonderful condition. A perfect book for anyone studying about trauma.

  3. I read this book cover to cover. I found it extremely easy to read. I have recommended this book to several of my colleagues that assist patients with trauma. I feel like this book could be also given to patients. I felt it contained enough biological data to assist persons to understand the basis for the trauma response.

  4. This book gives a very good explanation of trauma and some excellent examples of how to work with it. The information may not be new to those working in the field, but it is the clearest description of brain functioning and trauma that I have read and the treatments she offers are very usable. I highly recommend this book especially for those just learning about trauma or new to working with the clients body.

  5. Rothschild does a great job of explaining the relationship between trauma and its impact on the body/mind and how listening to the body can play an important role in recovering from traumatic experiences.

It's quite technical and not the type of book I enjoy reading in sequence. I found it much more interesting to read different sections on a "need to know" basis. I was sometimes amazed at how well it applied to my own experiences.

5 comments about The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth.
  1. This book is phenomenal. It is so well written, wonderfully structured, fascinating & not difficult to understand. In addition to details on the risks of certain procedures, the book includes helpful facts on how to improve your own outcome.
Goer says she is "biased" towards natural birth & that made me reluctant to purchase the book at first. However, I think she's wrong - I don't consider that a "bias". That is like saying a nutritionist is "biased" towards eating fruits & veggies! Her "bias" towards natural birth is based on FACT, not personal opinion... *unnecessary* interventions carry risks that natural birth does not have. It's just fact.

READ UP!!!! OBs are still doing dumb, senseless things like telling women they can't drink during labor. Even world-class hospitals, such as Johns Hopkins Bayview here in Baltimore, still does this. FIND OUT what the policies are & select a caregiver who practices based on the SCIENCE... not tradition! I'm so glad I did. (& switched out of Hopkins.)

  2. I am preparing for the birth of my first child. My husband and I are both from academic research backgrounds, and do not give much weight to any "data" which does not have a legitimate scientific source. This book was exactly what I wanted in a birthing book: real facts from someone who knows how to review medical literature. I do not have access to all the medical journals and wanted someone to synthesize the information for us. Henci does this.
Yes, she is admittedly biased against the hospital model of delivery. She states this openly in the introduction, and invites you to read on with that in mind. This book does not offer any advice on pain management, meditation, hypnosis, etc. But what it does do it is give you scientifically sound peer-reviewed research to support your decision to go natural. This helped me commit to natural delivery, and now I'm reading other books for help with the HOW. If you're like me and want someone to present you with the SCIENCE you need, read this book.

  3. This is a wonderful book - a pleasant relief from the doom-and-gloom of what to expect books. It is well documented with references from medical literature. Birth can be wonderful if you are prepared!

  4. I didn't enjoy this book at all. I thought it had great information, but it was conveyed in such a negative light. The medical profession was portrayed as evil bloodsucking beings who want nothing but to ruin your magical birthing experience and damage your baby. I stopped reading it because while I want to be informed, I also trust my doctor. I had a fabulous birth experience in a hospital anyway and my daughter is not a fire monster.

  5. I was expecting this book to be not only informative, but empowering to women and positive. It is informative, but so so negative with it's scare tactics about what "really goes on" in a hospital it sounds like it was written by a man. I am choosing to have a natural birth, but I choose to for other reasons, not because I have been frightened into it by now knowing what goes on the medical way. At the end of the day, I have to be open to the possibility of cesarean if it is required and would like to remain positive about that. Reading this book left me disappointed if I was to have a C Section. Don't waste your money or time with this book. Ina May's Guide to a natural birth is not only extremely informative without the negativity, but SO SO wonderfully empowering. It left me looking forward to the labor experience and provided confidence to trust my body. Still the best pregnancy book I have read.

5 comments about Kaplan PCAT 2008-2009: Pharmacy College Admission Test (Kaplan Pcat).
  1. Cons:
1- There are many errors in this book. The most glaring of all is an advice box that directs you to online calculus review. However, the website doesn't exist. According to Kaplan's Academic Services it's a printing error. There are also answer key errors in the chapter reviews and the practice tests.
2- Math, Essay, and Organic chapters aren't thorough enough for the test
3- The book's tests cover less organic chemistry than the actual PCAT

    Pros:
    1-Best study guide I own (I have 4 books)
2-Gen. Chemistry and Biology sections are thorough
    3-Very accurate reading comprehension practice

Despite lacking in the Math, Essay, and to a lesser extent the Organic Chemistry chapters, it is the best and most comprehensive book I have used (reason for the 4 star rating). It has 1 pre test, 1 practice final test, as well as chapters on verbal, reading comprehension, math, bio, chem, the essay, general test taking tips, and changes in the new pcat. Finally, each test prep chapter has review questions at the end. There are roughly 35 content review chapters.

  2. Over the summer of 2008 I prepared for the PCAT mainly with the Kaplan 2008-2009 PCAT test prep book. The chapters of the Kaplan book covering the verbal, reading, writing and biology sections are all great review with lots of good information and great tips for performing well on those sections. The two practice tests at the end were also fairly helpful overall for extra review and getting acclimated to the actual length of the PCAT.

That being said I felt that the Kaplan book did a somewhat poor job with the math and chemistry review. The organic chemistry chapter in the Kaplan book is a joke and does not go into enough detail. It merely covered basic functional group identification, simple IUPAC naming, and basic molecular orbital theory (sigma/pi bonds, bond order). The actual PCAT asked a good number questions pertaining to aromaticity and predicting products of basic organic transformations like SN1 reactions, hydride reductions, oxidations, and addition-eliminations. However, the Kaplan book did NOT even mention ANY actual organic reactions. And although the general chemistry review is good preparation, the math chapters fail to cover a small portion of calculus and trigonometry. Kaplan's review of calculus like basic derivatives, integrals, and limits is helpful but it did not address implicit derivatives and integrations by parts--both of which were on the actual PCAT. Although, there were only two or three trig questions on the actual PCAT, I feel that a small trig review would have been useful. Despite those faults, the Kaplan book does a great job reviewing statistics, algebra, and pre-calculus. The majority of PCAT math questions tested knowledge of the latter math topics, which Kaplan reviewed very well.

Overall I would recommend purchasing this book for PCAT preparation--especially if you're in need of a great biology review. However, I would take the official PCAT practice tests to prepare for the math and chemistry sections and treat the Kaplan review of these topics as more of a supplement to your main studies.

  3. This book needs more information on the "tough stuff". There's not nearly enough review on calculus or advanced chemistry. The english review sections (reading comp and verbal) were pretty decent. I absolutely hated the practice tests in this book for several reasons. First, they were full of errors; I answered questions correctly in the final practice test and the answer key had the incorrect answer letter (correct answer was B and key said it was C, but had the correct information with it). Second, the practice tests had five answer choices, whereas the actual PCAT only had four. Third, the answer sheet for the test had four bubbles (A through D) and five answer choices (A through E). I got a much better test review by paying for a practice test from the company that writes the PCAT. I would not buy this book again.

  4. The biology review is missing a lot of important basic information and the calculus review doesn't cover what was on the real PCAT test.

My recommendation is to take the practice pcat test from the pearson website. It was very similar to the real test. Then after that, you'll know what you need to review.

This Kaplan test was helpful, but the material wasn't quite the same as what pcat tested on. My weak spots were chemistry and calculus and I don't feel the Kaplan review improved either for me. Vocab review was ok, and essay section didn't give any practice subjects, only tips on how to write an essay. That info could be found online for free...

Overall, I think this review may have been helpful if you are taking a test from 4 years ago, but things have changed. The review is no longer current.

  5. This book is awesome! It sums up every subject so well and the tests in it are very very useful! Compared to the real test it was very accurate on what was going to show up. I'm going to keep this around because it is just full of information even if it isn't need for the PCAT.

5 comments about Reverse Heart Disease Now: Stop Deadly Cardiovascular Plaque Before It's Too Late.
  1. this was a decent book with a lot of good usuable information. It is a Must Read for anyone over 45 who has a poor diet and is over weight. It is written by medical doctors who are interested in healing the body-not just treating the symtoms. there are also many suppliments that they recommend that are available in most stores (unlike Kevin Trudeau who recommends product not even available in the U.S.)!! It was well worth the money and I strongly recommend it to any one who is concerned about heart disease.

  2. Written by two cardiologists.By far the most informative book I've read so far on heart disease. It's an easy read, yet chucked full of information you need & must know. Unfortuneately when we see a doctor or cardiologist they focus solely on the symptom, they have little or no time to devote to prevention nor a cure. You'll be happy to know...as the book states you CAN stop deadly cardiovascular plaque before it's too late.

  3. This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Cardiac health.
Although I am a registered nurse and have a genuine interest as I have a heart condition, I think that anyone would find this book helpful.
The explanations are easy to understand and the advice is excellent. I have already been following much of what has been suggested but there were other areas that I didn't know about that were very helpful. My cardiologist advised me to read this as I don't want to use conventional medicine unless absolutely necessary, due to the side effects. I am really please with the results since I have followed this regime and so is my cardiologist. The heart is a muscle whose cells need feeding - if not we have inflamation leading to heart attacks and strokes etc
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in living a healthier life.

  4. For those of us who wish to be proactive in making decisions that directly impact our health and lives, Reverse Heart Disease Now by Dr. Stephen Sinatra and James Roberts contains the up-to-date scientifically supportable information we need. Every heart patient can benefit from the information provided in this book. After reading the book, I feel like I can discuss my condition and treatment with my doctor in confidence. With the veil of ignorance lifted, I can make better decisions about my health, my doctors and my treatments. Thank you Doctors Sinatra and Roberts.

  5. Having been on his program for 3 months I have normal numbers! I had been told that there was nothing more that they could do. I had 4 heart attacks with bypass surgery and stents put in to save my life. I went from an A1C of 12 down to 7.1 in three months with strick diet and many many supplements but it's working.I had been taking every diabetic pill and insulin known to man to no avail. My heart related tests are normal after being over by hundreds. They gave great advise you have to be in charge of your own health what works and doesn't. I am thankful and highly recommend the book.

  1. This book is an excellent owner's manual to keep the body functioning at peak levels. It doesn't take long to realize how what you eat effects the way you look, think and feel.

  2. This is an excellent program and has helped me to feel better and lose weight on a diet I can maintain. It combines the best of low carb diets with lots of vegetables and some healthy carbs like fruits and grains. This book explains her program in a clear and concise way unlike its successors. I highly recommend The Schwarzbein Principle Cookbook as well.

  3. This book has a very straightforward message. The message essentially is that too much carbohydrates, refined sugar, gluten and alcohol is the real culprits in terms of poor health/disease and weight gain and not so much meat and fat. The second message is that you need oils and that meat and fat are good sources of oil. Main idea is that man-made carbohydrates like artifical sweetners, wheat and gluten cause elevated insulin reactions and low glucagon levels which lead to storage of fat and will over time will result in insulin resistance, inflammatory reactions and autoimune disease. The book basically recommends that you eliminate refined sugar and man-made sweetners and carbohydrates and that you should increase your intake of essential oils. I am a vegetarian and lost 18 kg in 4 months essentaily following the advice in this book namely eliminating all bread, strarch, gluten, alcohol and refined sugar in my diet. I eat meat once a week but do eat lots of seeds, flaxeed oil and, tofu. The book in my opinion overemphasize the idea that you should eat animal fat and meat but do state that meat eating is not the only way to ensure adequate intake of fats, protein and oils.

  4. I actually got this for a friend - I wouldn't part with mine. What I like about this is that there's no counting. You look at your plate and understand what your body will do when you eat it. While I don't agree with everything (good luck taking away my coffee and beer), the principle is sound. Like all diet plans, take what works for you and merge it with the rest of your knowledge to create a balanced diet that works for you.

I did get a few of the later books, and got the feeling that the publisher found out there was money to be made. Not much new in the cookbooks.

  5. I was happy with my purchase an it end up being cheaper by purchasing on this wed
