1 comments about Introduction to Mechanics of Materials.
- I have used this book in an engineering mechanics class and I believe that it is an excellent teaching tool. The problems in the book relate well with the reading and though it requires a basic knowlege of statics, I felt it explained everything very well.

1 comments about Elements of Continuum Mechanics (Aiaa Education Series).
- Looking through this book that is almost the same price as a reprint of Malvern's classic text on the subject, but contains much less explanation and depth, I do not see the point of using this text. The derivations are almost straight copies out of Malvern, including the irritating notation conventions.
What this book has that Malvern does not is more worked example problems in some instances. Malvern however, has better descriptions and explanations of what is actually taking place with the theories involved. This book could be used to teach an undergraduate course on continuum mechanics, but I haven't heard of such a course, and to be honest I would prefer a reprinted hardback of Malvern. If you have the option, I would recommend taking a good look at both books before deciding which one suits you better.

2 comments about Simulation of Dynamic Systems with MATLAB and Simulink.
- The title of this book is misleading. It is mainly about numerical integration of the differential equations found in dynamic systems. For example the table of contents lists the following 8 chapters.
1, Mathematical Modeling
2. Continuous-Time System
3. Elementary Numerical Integration
4. Linear Systems Analysis
5. Simulink
6. Intermediate Numerical Integration
7. Simulation Tools
8. Advanced Numerical Integration
Only chapters 5 and 7 are directly related to simulating dynamic systems with Matlab and Simulink. Matlab is frequently used in other parts of the book for calculating and plotting the results of examples.
Even though I expected this book would be mainly about using Natlab and Simulink to simulate dynamic systems I still give it a 5 rating because of its excellent coverage of numerical integration. Harold Klee has packed a great summary of the simulation work he has done during his life tine into this book.
- The book arrived very quickly and in spite of being used the book condition was excellent. No complaints.
