  1. I had to purchase this text for a CAD course. I thought it was one of the better texts I had to purchase.

  2. I needed to learn CAD for work, and this was the best book I came across. Mr. Tickoo writes in a clear, yet comprehensive style that makes AutoCAD a breeze! Highly Recommended!

  3. I am a mechanical engineer & recently joined a design company . A colleague highly recommended Sham Tickoo's book, but I was a bit sceptical initially as I read a couple of not so good reviews at this site. The book has however put all doubts at rest. It is a wonderful book put together with a lot of thought and understanding. The style is so interactive, sometimes I felt I was actually being taught in a classroom! It's a great buy and I would recommend it to all AutoCad students. Well done Sham & Co.

  4. This book is great. Those who have a graphic mind and know what they want to do but do not know the commands nor the variables will find this book gives quick solutions to do the processes they want to do. I have looked at a lot of books but this one stands out from the rest. When I want to do something in CAD, I check the book and find it quickly, the explanations are concise, and I get it done.

  1. I have had Statics and will be taking Dynamic's next semester. I bought this book so I could get a head start on next semester as I heard the professor is tough and the material is difficult.

The parts that cover Statics were a very good supliment to what I had learned last semester. Kind of like the Reader's Digest version, I couldn't figure out what parts they had left out. It seemed pretty complete to me. They even covered stuff we didn't. We didn't have anything in our class wrt differential equations, but this book did. Since I have had diff eq, it was nice to see it being put to use and I learned something.

On the Dynamic's side, it is a bit of a tough go. I am using this as a primary/only text and do not have the benifit of an instructor. I am wading through slowly. I wish there was a bit more explination before the examples. This is where an in class text book would be helpful. I believe that this book will be a valuable resource when I actually start the class.

  2. I have always liked the Schaum's series of books. They are straightforward and to the point. This text was no exception.

The most important aspect of this book is that it can be used as a supplement to most of the popular texts. I used it along with Beer & Johnston and Shames.

Quite a useful book on a difficult, hands-on subject.

  4. This book was helpful in putting together arguments for problems I was working on.

  5. I used this outline for review and with some problems I was having in a course on computational robotics I was taking a couple of years ago and I found this book to be an excellent review that answered all of my questions. However, my stepson used it in his statics and dynamics classes to help with the material when it was being presented to him for the first time, and he said he felt it brushed over some of the material in both classes. Even though this is a hefty outline, perhaps it would be better if they dedicated separate Schaum's outlines to each subject - statics and dynamics - and covered more ground in each subject rather than putting both subjects in the same book. This outline even has one chapter on mechanical vibrations, but it is just barely an overview and hardly gets into the subject at all. It might be best if that chapter were deleted entirely and more space spent on the subjects at hand.

  1. The text used in conjunction with the accompanny study guide were required text for an automation and control class. No errors noted, very easy and comprehensive reading. An excellent reference manual. One of the best required text books I have used.

  2. I have used this text in our PLC class for three years. I really like that it is specific to Allan Bradley products. The workbook that goes with this text has programming assignments to reinforce the concepts. As I train on AB SLC500s exclusively, it is almost ideal. I say almost becaue there are many references to obsolete instructions used with a PLC no longer manufactured. It is due for a new edition. But until then, it remains a very good text to teach from, or if you simply want to know more about the subject.

  3. Not a bad reference for most users. It is a little basic and some of the info is dated. It's a little weak in more advanced areas like indiredt addressing, use and construction of subroutines, but otherwise this is a good book to keep in a general library for technicians responsible for supporting PLC based systems.

  4. This publisher states items included in the purchase on the back cover but does not deliver.

  1. This book is pointless common sense and there are no examples of the problems they ask you to solve at the end of the chapters. Plus there were many misspellings, bad grammar, and poorly written ambiguous questions.

  1. Professional engineering these days strongly rely on accurate mathematical modelling of systems. This book is a good introduction to the subject without loosing the link to the numeral solving techniques. Advanced mathematical equations are omitted so this text will serve only as an introduction and not as a complete treatment. Nevertheless, it is a good book when starting to study mathematical modelling of physical systems.

  2. I had to buy this book for my last semester in electrical engineering. It is a good choice as an introduction to mathematical tools used in representation and analysis of dynamic systems, electrical or mecanical.

First, there are a few chapters about basic notions of dynamic (translational and rotational. You can pass this part quickly if you had a few mechanic classes, because it is just to show the good way to represent systems in modeling. Next, a good explanation of state variable modeling, transfert function, linear vs non linear equations, etc, is well written, with good examples, without too advanced maths. If you have learned basic notions in calculus and linear algebra, you can follow the text pretty easily.

  1. The greatest feature of this book is the generous use of examples throughout. For every type of problem, there is some close example that you can refer to.

Even though I didn't particularly enjoy the class for which this text was assigned, I think that the book itself is a great resource, and should be recognized as so.

  1. AB FAB! I'm really trying to addd something to the reviews posted already. So much goodness has already been posted about this wonderful book.

My sons are very young and I cannot wait for them to have this book to read and enhance their knowledge while having fun in the process. Melting together reading, technology, problem-solving, and programming could not produce a better combination for building a great education.

I know that this book has gained some significant recognition in the LEGO MindStorms world and the education field. LEGO Masters and Edu Teachers all agree it is a very good book.

If you are looking for a book that will entertain and teach your MindStormer (young or old) in a very pleasing way...this book is a fantastic starter.

  2. This book is a wonderful introduction into program and design with the NXT, and yes, we've been using the RCX as well. The book is well laid out. The story is engaging and gives the tasks purpose.

I really like the templates provided in the book. It gives anyone a method of organizing their thoughts, so they can go ahead with the building and programming and know they're headed down the right path.

I bought this for my children because I have no interest in robotics or programming, and I've enjoyed it as much as they have.

  3. I bought this to introduce my grandchildren to science projects. Their ages are 7 and 10. We have no special contest or competition to enter. Not sure exactly what I expected but I was not disappointed. This has awesome potential for learning. Actually, my grandkids were impressively advanced in what they could accomplish. The suggested robot to build was fairly complicated. My 10 yo took charge, with the 7 yo taking his turn. When completed I could not get close to the control computer. They took over!!! The kit could use some better instructions. I recommend one of several additional books to get a better feel for it. Next we will try the programming. Good way to spend lots of quality time with your kids. Just make sure you have big blocks set aside! Love it!

  4. did you really write this book have not read it yet but it's being shipped to my house.

  5. The value of this book is not in the number of documented designs, but how it teaches you the process to come up with your own designs. It even does it in a much more entertaining way then my engineering classes did. Understanding the design process allows you to create any number of robots that do what you want them to do and this is an invaluable life skill. That is what this book teaches you. It allows you to try to come up with the solutions on your own, or build the solutions the author came up with. My son and I plan on going through the book a second time and using the processes taught come up with our own solutions. This book is definitely worth having.
