1. A decently attempted foray into an otherwise exciting, yet overexamined academic topic. Catchment Hydrology is a field on the verge of media saturation, it seems that every scholar has his new catchment hydrology theory he is willing to espouse to packed lecture halls and cable tv hosts throughout the nation. While some have actually made important breakthroughs ( Limerick, Berkowitz et al) others are just falling in line behind the vanguards lapping up the short lived fame and glory. Maybe these "hydrologists" should get into the new fad, and by the way guys, pilates is already taken.

1. This book has not been edited since 1992. New discoveries and concepts introduced since 1992 need to be added and the book should be thoroughly revised.



2. In this text, Dr. Libes tackles the inter-relationship between all the sciences as they occur in the marine environment. She entertains the most complex concepts with pragmatic efficiency. It is a delight to read and work through, levaing you with a real sense of understanding. Excellent and resourceful, this text is a must for any serious Oceanographer.



3. Another great introductory textbook for Biogeochemical Oceanography. You will get the essential basics of this subject from this book.

1. An excellent introduction to the precious gem trade (both legal and illegal) in Afghanistan, from historical times to the present. Stunning photographs or gems in both their original stone matrix and faceted, and many photographs of the gem mining regions of the country. An excellent introduction to the jewel resources of this war-torn country, and the geology behind the gemstones.

1. This book is nice for a fast overview over aquatic environmetal chemistry. I couldn't find any obvious errors. (Minor pedagogical simplifications or omissions shouldn't be regarded as errors.) - Since it's written as an introduction book, I wouldn't protest if somebody gives it 5 stars.
   (I wrote the text over years ago, and I soon forgot what the book had taught me. That is not a good sign, and I soon felt that I would only have given it three stars at a later date.)
