3 comments about Haynes' Automotive Electrical Manual (Haynes AutomotiveRepair Manual Series No.10420).
- This book is fantastic in explaining how to find and fix a problem with a cars electrical system. Tells you what tools to use, how to use them, and how to go about making repairs. This book is a must for any weekend mechanic who gets anxious at the thought of working on electircal problems.
- I have been a backyard mechanic for about 10 years. The last 3 years, I have gotten much more serious by expnading my knowledge, tools, supplies and work load. During all this expansion, I promised myself I would learn electronics and really start getting serious with the subject. Every method I tried to learn electronics, I just couldnt grasp the advanced (useful) concepts. I tried several online courses, on the job training, other electrical manuals, pretty much everything. I found this book at my local library and it seemed like it would cover everything I wanted to learn. Within three days, I had everything I wanted to know practically memorized. The fourth day I spent about $100 in tools and supplies so I could practice what I learned. I have read this book front to back and already fixed several problems in my car and home. I just cant say enough good about this book. Not only is it well written and easy to understand, the topics go in order and have excellent pictures to match. I will return the library book and get one for myself. The only thing I can say negatively about this book is that the publish date is about 15 years old. Not much has changed since then, especially the basic concepts the book teaches. Overall, If you need to learn how to understand, troubleshoot, overhaul, or replace anything electronic that is automotive based; this book is for you!
- If you have no clue whatsoever about electricity and cars then this book will be a first step to understanding. I bought this book years ago when there were not that many books on the subject available but since then far better books have come on the market and if you can only afford one or just want to buy one book then I suggest tracy martins book. I hope I dont give the impression that this is a bad book, it isnt, the problem is it is neither good or bad its just a simple overview.

3 comments about The IMS: IP Multimedia Concepts and Services.
- This book stands out amongst the limited titles on IMS,which are really comprehensive in nature and would specially seem very well structured in terms of flow of information to those who have tried to go through endless revisions of 3GPP standards. But where this book disappoints is that it has only and only reffered to 3GPP standards and have got no referrence to 3GPP2 and some delta specifications by Cablelabs for cable service providers.
- Good IMS book with satisfactory beginner to advanced content. Can benefit from some format enhancements and a better hierarchical approach to the IMS. Otherwise, I definitely recommend.
- The book is dense with the acronym-ridden jargon of this field. To someone new to the Internet Protocol, this can be a practical impediment to understanding. What you have to do is grit your teeth and focus on the ideas beneath the terminology.
The subject itself is potentially quite promising. One possible direction for richer multimedia messages, in the limit of "convergence". The book also addresses mostly the prospect of wireless messaging, ie. cellphones. While IMS can certainly occur on the traditional landline connections to the Internet, it is the tie-ins to mobile networks that motivates much of the text.

2 comments about Strapdown Inertial Navigation Technology (Progress in Astronautics and Aeronautics).
- A good introduction from the ground up. Concepts were easily conveyed to the reader. I'm much more comfortable with strapdown systems after reading this book.
- Strapdown Inertial Nav. is an excellent book for those who would like to understand the technology or learn how to process inertial sensor data.

5 comments about Power System Stability and Control.
- muy buen libro para quien gusta de los estudios de estabilidad electrica..God bless you!
- The book covers many imporant problem solving methods of Power System Stability and Control. It shows very clear steps to approach problems and set up solutions to achieve system stability and supplies different algorithms to control the system.
- I think this book is a valuable one for both practricing engineers and academecians. It provides basic theory of synchronous machines and devlops models for the same. It gives an over view of fundmentals of power system stability (transient and small signal. It includes modeling of generators, governors, exciters and stabilizers in the simulation of system stability. Also covered in the text is the voltage stability and several examples.
I recommend to both graduate students and power system engineers in the field.
- The book is in good conditions but i did't considered the customs taxes. Be careful!!!!!!!
- Basically this is a one of the standard refenence books for power system people who do research or development work. It's massive, and the information is in there somewhere.

5 comments about Electrical Engineering Reference Manual, for the Electrical and Computer PE Exam, 7th ed..
- I found that the reference manual was missing many important parts (that were on the test), and most of the materials that are on the Power section of the exam are missing, or lack the depth of information to be of any use for studying.
- This is a great reference book, both for electrical engineering in general and the PE exam in particular. I used this book as my primary source while studying and working problems for the exam. It also had all the info I needed during the exam. As a fairly young engineer without loads of experience behind me, I leaned heavily on this book before and during the exam and was very satisfied with it. The sections are concise and to the point, and the formulas are easy to pick out quickly from the text. I've had it about 6 months now and have already used it a few times on the job as well.
If there are any drawbacks, one might be that it has so many sections that it can take a little while to look things up sometimes. While this makes for a good comprehensive reference, one has to be well-versed in it to be able to dig for info quickly during the exam. Also, some of the sections don't go into as much detail as some exam questions. In my experience, these areas gave good overviews but didn't give the formulas, coefficient explanations, etc. necessary to attack some exam problems. These don't detract significantly from my overall opinion of the book though.
During the exam, the only books I used were this one, my NEC Handbook, the practice problems manual that accompanies this book, and the NCEES practice exams manual. I had a few other textbooks and some study course manuals with me during the exam, but never reached for any of them. This and the Code were all the reference materials I used. And I passed! (The practice problems book and NCEES exam book are also highly recommended; some problems mirrored those on the exam and each enabled me to get a precious few more solutions that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.)
In conclusion, this is a great reference book for electrical engineering as a whole, and I wouldn't recommend stepping into the PE exam room without a copy on hand.
- This book sits on my shelf next to the Physics Handbook and other reference titles. I don't use very often, but then I don't use the others very often either. That's why they are called reference books. This volume is excellent for its overt purpose, which is to help you pass the PE exam. It covers a huge swath of the wide field of electrical engineering, in sufficient detail to provide a working grasp of the terminology and principles, though not so much as to guide detailed design work; there are other books for that. Sections range from reviews of basic material to discussion of reasonably sophisticated topics such as information theory. It can be likened to an electronics oriented version of the World Book encyclopedia, written for the technically literate. As such, it is designed to be concise and accessible, easy to flip open and zero in on any topic. In other words, it is great for an open book exam, and it is handy anytime you might want a fast introduction to or refresher on any given topic. Beyond the comprehensive collection of theory, on a down to earth practical note there are wire tables and a chapter on the national electrical code. There is also a section on professional matters, such as economic analysis, law, and ethics, which might make it the only book on your shelf where you can find this. Because it is very good at what it does, this was one of just four books I took into the exam room, in contrast to one idiot who brought in four *crates* of stuff to waste time looking through. Because it is very good at what it does, it is a permanent addition to my electrical engineering reference library. Would I have purchased it even if I never needed it for exam study material? I think the answer is yes. It is that broad and useful.
- I bought this book as it was referred by many others as a good reference for PE exam and as the others say, it's good for morning (bridth) section only.
- Excellent technical content is significantly detracted by poor font selection and layout, which makes reading difficult. The typeface is extremely poor, printing is too light, and in general the content is overly hard to read.

4 comments about Electric Machinery.
- The most powerfull book in Electric Machinery for
the beginners and experts, at the same level of
complexity (it's hard to read but it's very interesting in the way of presenting the contents...), requires some background in theory of electrical circuits and systems
- This book may be considered a reference in the study of electric machines, because it brings the main aspects of electromechanical energy conversion devices without being difficult to understand. Its way for explaining the relations of power/current/torque in induction machines is the best one I've seen in any book.
- I used this text in an elective on electrical machines and found the book very difficult to learn from. Readability is not bad. The writing is fine and easy enough to follow but the equations in the text were frequently the wrong equation for the topic. Several tables had eroneous information. While most text books contain some errata, this book contained more than any of the dozens of engineering books in my personal library. None of the end of chapter problems had any answers in order to check work. While only a nuisance, example problems in the text would reference a machine from several chapters back, requiring the reader to flip back and forth to understand the situation of the current example. I did appreciate the fact that the book includes matlab examples and exercises as to aid understanding with simulations.

4 comments about Basic Electronics (Dover Books on Electronics, Electricity, Computers, Electrical Engineering).
- I have used this book quite often since I started my journey with the Navy. This guide, coupled with a basic knowledge of electronics and electricity, will prove an invaluable aid to both inexperienced, and experienced alike. I strongly recommend this book.
- Considering the ancient date this book was published in, it still contains valuable information and surprisingly clear language. I guess the Navy really deosn't screw arond when it comes to writing clear instructions in electronics, as this book clearly proves.
The quality and breadth of information that this book lays out concerning electronics reminds me of this old Eastman textbook on vacuum tubes that I acquired a couple of years back. That book likewise is a gold mine of valuable knowledge, written with a crisp understandable writing style.
- Lots of info about electronics during the 60's and 70's...poor choice if you are interested in IC's or anything even remotely recent.
- This is a book about basic electronics and the nitty-gritty of this science doesn't change over time. Integrated circuits aren't really basic electronics and neither is a lot of "modern" circuit design - there are many other book choices for that.
But if you want the basic science behind electronics - this is the best book you can get in my opinion. It is written in clear language for the average reader to understand. If you're a calculus wiz - this book isn't going to be your cup of tea. But ... if you're new to electronics and tend to struggle with some of the more difficult concepts - look no further as this book was really the core of basic electronics education for the U.S. Navy for many decades and the Navy trained THOUSANDS of technicians with the information in this book. The only way you could do better ... would be to get ahold of a set of the old Navy Electricity and Electronics Series Modules (also referred to as NEETS modules). That's basically a library of paperback books - each one devoted to a specific segment of electrical / electronic study - like COMPUTERS and Binary Logic, or Motors and Generators. Those modules are written in the same language as this book - tend to go a bit deeper into detail and are in nice digestible chunks.
Good luck with finding them though.
Even the section on vaccuum tubes in this book is a valuable exercise into electron science - and it's fun! And I still think electronic techs should be at least vaguely familiar with the principles of vaccuum tubes even in this day and age!

5 comments about Robots, Androids and Animatrons, Second Edition : 12 Incredible Projects You Can Build.
- I bought this book with the humble desire of creating a simple companion. After I finished, the Creation turned on me and my family and reprogrammed my VCR. It then proceeded to change the message on my answering machine. It somehow convinced my Nissan truck not to allow me inside. I fear for my life. How could I have let it go this far? All I really wanted was a cute little Furby but I ended up with a cyber-monster with dreams of wiping out humans and creating a robotic Utopian Hell.....other than that, the book was pretty cool.
- The illustrations and text I found to be very helpful for a project I was working on, but the supplies the book recommends can usually de difficult to find, and can tend to be a bit pricy.
I recommend visiting a local toy store after deciding on a project, and buying toys with the parts you need. Its more fun to make one thing into another anyway.
- This was the 3rd book I purchased on pics. The other 2 books - one by Myke Predko (awful), the other by David L. Benson (dissapointing.)
I wish this had been the first. Although not geared specificly towards pics, that was my reason for buying it. I was interested in pics and robotics; so this book was right up my alley. Admittedly the book has numerous plugs for a company the guy obviously works for, owns, or gets kickbacks from! And he wants you to put out a considerable about of cash from the get go to purchase items he wants you to use in order to follow along with him. However, that doesn't bother me. I never build any projects I see in these type of books. I only use them for learning - I build my own projects. This book did teach me quite a bit about pics. Which was my goal. He didn't bog you down with the history or innards of pics like other books. Which I am not interested in. The book was a great mixture of hardware and software topics... I would recommend this book to anyone interested in pics... Subsequently I purchased another book by him simply because I saw his name on it and I wasn't dissapointed! I'm looking forward to other books by John Iovine in the future...
- This book is great for the beginner. Iovine explains the subject matter in a way that makes it exciting and fun. He has a way of getting the exciting vision of building robots across to the reader. The book makes it easy to get parts needed for the projects from the authors web site. I'm really looking forward to his new book, Pic Robotics!!!
- Plenty of information for make very good projects, unfortunately for my taste, the autor only works with PIC microcontrollers, perhaps a very good book

5 comments about Microelectronic Circuit Analysis and Design.
- A detailed book. Covers a lot on MOS technology and explained how transistors are used in digital electronics. Some good examples too! This book covers those important elements which are left out by introductory or standard books on electronics.
- This book covers most of the standard topics in a third year university course in electronic circuits.
It is accurate, but rather unimaginative. It does not do enough to describe the context in which circuits arise, nor to describe the design process. It also fails to tell the reader what comes next: that is, where is all this going, what is our next course, and so forth. Its strong point is a lot of problems that, if worked, should provide a good background for the student.
- The book is very descriptive in the area of theory but less so in the area of fully worked problems in use as a classroom textbook. The organization of the book material from one topic to another could be better.
The second edition of the book is about the same as the first exept for the introduction of a website about the book and a cd-rom with slides and sample programs for electronics.
- This book is a very good book. Care has been taken to explain details very carefully. There is an extensive list of problems to tackle. But I'd suggest that a reader use this book in conjunction with another more elementary book, Electroinc Principles by Malvino becuase for some readers the extensive usage of mathematical analysis might prove to be a 'turn-off'. However, for an undergrad course, one needs to know what is given in the book and when used in conjuction with Malvino, it makes a winning combination. Overall, a good book.
- I am an undergrad and I think this is a great introductory book. It is extremely comprehensive and detailed. I highly recommend it if you really want to learn the material in detail.
