- Bill Quatman is one of a handful of lawyers who has the ability to write a book like this. This is part of the Aspen Design-Build "Red Book" series and is a valuable edition in that it focuses on the perspective of the A/E in this process. The chapters are relatively short, which I enjoyed, and I particularly enjoyed some of the examples that Quatman used in proving points on stipends and teaming. I do think that the sections on liability were a bit less comprehensive than needed for my tastes, and feel that there are several better resources out there. These include Mike Loulakis' series, "Design-Build Lessons Learned" and the Robert Cushman and Michael Loulakis book published by Aspen entitled "Design-Build Contracting Handbook (2nd Edition)". But this is a minor criticism, since Quatman gives the primary readers of these books (architects, like myself) a sense of security that they can in fact participate and make money in design-build.

- Hey, everyone, if you want to see what a contracts class will be like, just pick up this book!! Because I've spoken with several attorneys who have said that they didn't have a clue in their contracts class. Well, guess what? That is the same feeling I had using this book. I am familiar (somewhat) with the terms utilized in contract law. But some of the processes seem a bit obscure, and this book doesn't do much to clear up the muddle. But at least I now know what to expect the first couple of months in law school.
