5 comments about Clinical Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (3rd Edition; Book & CD-ROM).
- A brief overview of neuroanatomy in a clinical setting that makes a difficult subject accessible in an outline form.
- I'm in the process of preparing for neuropsych boards and this book has been a great reference for me. It helps explain concepts so that they are easier to retain for later recall. I recommend this book for anyone studying for boards or will be working with students and residents.
- The book is an excrelent summary especially useful for first or second u=year sutidents of medice
- I had to get this book for class, and I only found it slightly useful. I had some problems in class understanding the different spinothalamic tracks, and I went to this book when nothing else was making sense. It did help me finally understand that whole part of neuroanatomy, however it probably took me an hour to get all the useful information from the book and 30 min to do the CD. (The CD was helpful but not nearly enough.) Basically, it was a very good opening book when I was confused, but I quickly had to turn to High Yield to actually learn something.
- This book is PERFECT for anyone in the medical field who wants to shave off all the fat regarding clinical neuroanatomy.
This book is meant to be used as a supplemental study tool and not as a primary source for information. For those overwhelmed by the extreme detail of scientific neuroanatomy, this book gives a simplistic overview of what is critical information as well as a guide of subjects to focus on when reading for detail with a primary source.
Of the Made Ridiculously Simple books I have read, I think this one is the best (including the famous Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple).
The schematics in the book are perfect diagrams for what to look at in actual CT/MRI cross and sagittal sections, more of which can be found on the CD-Rom
While I do wish it had a little more details of the pathway circuits and neurotransmitters involved, the point of the book is to eliminate all of those details.
It may not be comprehensive, but it comes very very close.

5 comments about The Mind and the Brain: Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force.
- Exercise is not only necessary for the body but for the brain as well. Great tie in of mindfulness with neuroplasicity and quantum theory.
- This book provides the reader a very thought provoking experience regarding what causes a person to produce certain thoughts and how one is able to regulate unwanted thoughts and actually change brain morphology and thought patterns. It integrates concepts in neuroscience with physics and applies these concepts to patients with neurological/psychological disorders. There are spots in which readers interested in neuroscience may think the discussion of physics requires a bit of patience and thought, but if you continue reading it will continue to suprise you.
- Schwartz provides a thorough picture of the development of neuroscience over the 20 years. His research into OCD is presented in a simple yet beautiful way. His book open my mind to the beauty of the human brain and to the idea of the mind. The chapter on physics was a little hard to understand.
- This book presents a scientific premise that though you may be born hard wired or predisposed to certain thinking patterns those patterns are change able. You are what you think and how you think will make you what you will be. Yes we can inherit certain traits and chemical imbalances can affect our attitudes , but we are not bound , we are not slave to these patterns of thought . We can change the way we think . The admonition of scripture " to let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus " is achievable . We can develop new thinking patterns . That is one of the great blessings of meditating (thinking in a specific manner) on scripture that by this we can develop the mind of Christ in us . We do not have to be bound by hatred of another . When we consistently pray for one ( not pray against ) who is a perceived enemy , with time and practice our perception will change , our attitude will change , our MIND will change , even though they may not change their attitude towards us( this is about changing ourselves "0UR own MIND"). We cannot always make people like us but we can chose to love them . This book presents the scientific facts concerning the plasticity of the brain (the ability to reshape our brains by the application of our mind (will). ) This book is a great encouragement for personnel change . Chemical imbalances affect the way we think , but the way we think affects the chemicals we release . Bitterness is rooted in our habits of thought and can only be rooted out by a new way of thinking (Jesus is the way the truth and the light). This book is not a theology book but The Bible will shed a lot of light on it . The heart of man ( how he thinks , our emotional seat )can be changed . With the help of Christ we can break the chains and habits of (the motions) miss thinking , negative thought life , lustful thinking(sin) . Some may call it "the power of positive thinking" , the Bible refers to it as righteous living or , doing what is right in the sight of God (as defined by scripture in the Bible). We can develope an attitude of gratitude for the blessings in our life even as we strive to over come the difficulties we daily face . The fact that there are now instruments that can register our mental activity and quantify mental changes is a bonus.
- This book was probably the most fascinating book I read about neuroscience and that's saying something since I find all of them fascinating. In this book the author explains neuroplasticity and how it continues to work in the brains of an adult as well as a child. The author also reviews many of the neuroscience experiments and projects done by various people as well as how those projects have confirmed the efficacy of mindful practices in controlling our habits and thoughts.
What I found really fascinating was how the author's work with OCD patients help them overcome that affliction by learning how to rewire the thought patterns. Equally interesting is the focus on how we can deliberately change our brains not only to heal, but also to continue sharpening our skills. For people interested in the intersection of neuroscience and magic, this book is a must read. 5 out 5

5 comments about Anatomy and Physiology Revealed Version 2.0 CD.
- I lost track of a previous version of this software and was very excited to find this again. The previous version was seperated onto multiple discs and less efficient with crossover between the body systems. This is a good investment for any visual learner who needs to learn or review gross anatomy. There are a number of views and/or animations for most of the subjects. My only criticisms are: a shortage of material for the reproductive systems and the program can require a large amount of system resources.
- Absolutely love it!! If you are in any medical class, this is an excellent tool to have and practice with. Referring to everyone I know.
- This product appears to be very similar to A.D.A.M interactive CDrom although more user friendly. Either one is good if you are taking courses requiring human biology and/or anatomy and physiologyA.D.A.M.(R) Interactive Anatomy Student Lab Guide (3rd Edition)(wihtout cd rom) Supplement: A.D.A.M. Interactive Anatomy Student Lab Guide with CD-ROM (Win) - Adam Interactive Ana (with cd rom)
- Though the system requirements list "Mac OS 10.3.9 and higher," A&P Revealed 2.0 does not run on the latest version of Mac OS, "Leopard." This is not mentioned anywhere in the listing or packaging, and only hinted at on the McGraw-Hill website. It was only after hours of trouble-shooting, googling, and, finally, contacting McGraw-Hill customer service that I learned about the incompatibility of this product.
- Product came quickly and was brand new as advertised, still in the shrink wrap. I needed it for school and haven't used it much yet, but I did try it out and it works just fine. Even with shipping it was MUCH MUCH cheaper than my college bookstore wanted for it so it really saved me money as well. Thanks!!

5 comments about National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms (National Audubon Society Field Guides).
- Audubon requires that regardless of the subject, a certain format and presentation guidelines must be adhered to.
This severly limits information in finding various species and the pictures limit the variety of views a hunter needs to identify a find accurately.
Pretty book but not for the serious hunter.
Check birding books by Audubon to see the similar editorial approaches.
- I really needed this book with all the different mushrooms that we have wild in the NW area where I live. The pictures are beauiful and easy to find the mushroom you are looking for in the book.
- Don't buy it, it's a useless book, why a book without scientific names can work, the paper look like a pocket bible, amazon put this book as it were important but shouldn't be there.
- I love these field guides! The photographs are fantastic, and are easy to navigate for quick identification. We enjoy looking at these books even when we aren't out scouting for new things to identify.
- This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my daughter, so it's hard to review. Service was great and the book arrived as promised.

5 comments about Biochemistry (Biochemistry (Berg)).
- Most people are probably buying this book because they are a college student and they have to, but compared to some other books, this one is clear and easy to read, so don't be too afraid of Biochemistry if you have this in you bag.
- Well it's a boring book but biochemistry isn't the most interesting thing to read on your free time. The book is in good condition and came quickly.
- This book gives the reader an indepth view of Biochemistry. The pictures are helpful and the text is typical of a Biochem book.
- The product was better than I asked for! Perfect shape and great deal! Would definately do business with again!!
- Great quality as advertised. I would have prefered to receive it a couple of days earlier but it was not late.

5 comments about The Backyard Birdsong Guide: Eastern and Central North America (Backyard Birdsong Guides).
- Fantastic guide! We use it with our grandchildren and let them use the binoculars to see if they can find any of the birds they saw in the book. Hearing the bird calls and reading about their habitats really encourages adults and children alike an interesting way of developing a love of nature. I would highly recommend this guide to anyone who wants to learn more about birds of their region or has children or grandchildren who could benefit from this knowledge.
- What a novel idea, a picture book of birds which not only informs the reader about each one BUT also has the sounds made by each bird with some giving both the male and female tune. This is not the run of the mill children's book but a very adult reference that should not be missing in any home where birding is of interest. This particular publication represents those birds found in the Eastern and Central United States but there are also books for other areas.
- North American Backyard Birdsong Guide is a Wonderful book for older children and also adults. It becomes a wonderful lesson to hear and see the birds.
- What a great book. It makes it easy to learn the songs of so many birds! My grandkids love it! Just what I hoped it would be, and great service by seller.
- Any home library strong in field guides probably has more than one bird book; but this is something different, offering an interactive format in audio word as well as written language and visual images. Some seventy unique birds from Eastern North America are featured in a book which offers one-touch buttons of digital audios to pair with descriptions of songs, calls and behaviors. Home birders who want to identify by more than pictures will find this an easy, appealing guide with a difference.

5 comments about The Noble Wilds.
- Not really what I expected. Pretty simplistic commentary accompanying several pictures of "the Wilds". Peaceful and serene, but not really enlightening at all. It looks as if the Supreme Master lives in a beautiful place surrounded by the glory of nature, and I do respect her reverence for life in all forms, and the interrelationship between all of us and the earth. Again though, I did not find this book inspiring in any way, and was rather disappointed by it.
- The Noble Wilds shows the deep nature of animals. Through this book, we come to know for instance that the swans have uncondicional love towards their babies, just like humans do.They forget about themselves and sacrifice 24/7 for the sake of their kids until they can live on their own. And that touched me so much!
Thank you, Lady (Supreme Master Ching Hai), for sharing with us these unique moments you have spent with our noble co-inhabitants, so that we can realize humans and animals are indeed so much alike, all children of God!
- I have never read any kids' collection which is so deeply touching, so divinely beautiful and so cute with all the pictures of little animals like squirrels and the new born swans. Their cuteness were all beautiful catpured. Their growth and the unconditional love from their parents cannot be compared to that from us human parents sometimes. Also when I saw the sharing of food among the litte swans, I feel all human beings should learn from these little creatures where we sometimes are occupied by our greed, inconsideration and selfishness.
It is such a bliss to be able to go into the world of our animal world where our co-inhabitants are already leading their noble lives among our human world. They are definitely a perfect example for us to learn. They are in no way inferior to us at all. I feel I am so lucky to be able to have access the book and write this review!
You will definitely gain more and more upon reading it twice or three times or even more. What I found is the more I read it, the more I gain and the more peace and hopeful I become. Therefore it is a must for us all. It also makes a perfect gift for all of our loved ones.
- Okay... My review isn't going to be so fancy or as articulate as the others! But I find this book Very charming and somewhat warm. My 4 yrs old son enjoys the photos; I myself enjoy reading about the author's adventure into the Wilds. This book is great for people who can open their hearts and minds into the simple world and perspective of animals. The animals seem a lot like us... loving their young's and such but less mundane :) There are some things that surprises me about animals and how we can actually communicate with them. The Author sure is a very compassionate person to have taken so much time and dedication into making this book. This book is a great idea to spread Peace and Love into the hearts of others. .. It sure works on me. Thank you and I can't wait to see what else is there.
- This book is for all ages. It is designed to see a deeper view of animals, our co-inhabitants. I hope when people read this book and look at the illustrations they will have a more compassionate attitude for all living beings.

5 comments about Be the Pack Leader: Use Cesar's Way to Transform Your Dog . . . and Your Life.
- I thoroughly enjoyed this book but it did not contain specific training for problems. I found it to be too generalized.
- Cesar is so insightful into the life of dogs and how to live a fulfilling life with dogs in a positive way while being a calm assertive pack leader. I have already listened to this twice. He has done a lot of reading in human physiology and uses quotes and references from some of the best physiologist from the human world, and uses these bits of knowledge effectively to explain his theory's. If you live what he preaches, life with your dog will forever be changed for the better. Your dog will be thankful you made the effort.
- I've owned dogs for over 50 years and never felt my dog needed any training beyond what I could provide, and I certainly never felt I needed any training... until I accepted an orphaned Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler). Along with the first professional training a dog and I have had, this book made a WORLD of difference in the happiness and contentment of my dog as well as me, her pack leader. For me, the book was a necessity to augment the professional instruction, which was done in a group without enough time to fully explain the dog (and human) psychology that underlies our relationship. Cesar Millan does a wonderful job of explaining the inherited behaviors and needs of dogs as pack animals. And he does an exceptional job of helping those who read the book, the human members of their dog's "domestic pack", understand their role and responsibilities in the pack for the safety, security and happiness of their dog(s) and other dogs and humans with which they interact.
- Cesar Millan once again amazes me with his book, Be the Pack Leader. He is not only instinctively insightful with his canine relationships, but perceptively aware of human behavior as well. I learned just as much about my dogs' behavior as I did about myself.
The writing includes many personal reflections and success stories, which makes the book an interesting read. I am not a huge fan of non-fiction, but the personal stories kept the book from being too dry and informational. I found myself laughing out loud several times and began reading selected parts to my husband.
Cesar's voice is present throughout the book. Fans of The Dog Whisperer will not be disappointed. In addition, he allows the reader to take a glimpse at his relationship with his wife, Ilusion, which reveals a different side of Cesar that we don't often get to see on the show.
I recommend this book for anyone with a dog or is planning to adopt a dog. Even if your dog is well-behaved, you will enjoy reading the personal and success stories. People with "behaviorally-challenged" dogs will realize how the human is often the culprit for the unwanted behaviors. Those that are considering adopting a dog will have a head start on training.
I have not yet read Cesar's Way, but I plan to pick it up immediately after finishing this book.
- A MUST HAVE FOR ALL DOG OWNERS, ESPECIALLY IF YOUR DOG HAS BEHAVIOR OR PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES. IT'S THE OWNER THAT NEEDS THE TRAINING. CESAR IS THE BEST!

5 comments about Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning.
- Supertraining, and other texts from foreign authors can be used in the best way the reader deems them; just like the nsca books. However, ST was definitely not intended to be a "pretty" book. No, there are no color pictures in ST, but the information is 1000 times more in-depth. The NSCA books are so vague and provide very little information. Just because ST requires a little thought process doesn't make the book cut and dry. It actually inspires creative thinking, unlike the NSCA. If the NSCA is soo awesome, why can't they provide good enough coaches for the U.S. to win every single gold medal in the Olympics?? Why can't we win weightlifting? Why, with all of our resources and opportunities, why can't we win the most gold medals? Not the most bronze or silver- the most GOLD? How can you not say the NSCA has failed miserably?? Aren't they the NUMBER ONE AUTHORITY on strength training?? Whether you are a personal trainer at a small gym, or a strength coach for a football team, you owe it to your clients/athletes to find the best information possible. NSCA doesn't come close. Elitefts.com, Dryessis.com, powerdevelopmentinc.com, defrancostraining.com. That's where you will find good information.
- Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning
Book is fantastic easy to understand and very thorough. A definite requirement for every person undergoing Personal Training study and even a great reference book for qualified PTs
- My main reason for purchasig this textbook was for a study material for the C.S.C.S exam. Having read through 100 pages already, this book is well organized and easy to apply the concepts in understanding anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, bioenergetics, flexibility, etc.... Obviously, it does not go into super detail in each area, but for the person who wants to know more about the body and how it works in general for exercise, this is more than enough information.
And for the person who says Supertraining is a better book overall, I highly disagree for the most part. It is an advanced text, very cut and dry to read compared to the Nsca's book. Supertraining is more or less a reference than a book you can sit down and read anytime.
- it has latest research studies, and colored, easier to understand. it smells weird when i first purchased, but i think it is just a smell of a new book that I don't like.
- Did not take long to recieve on standard shipping, the book came in perfect condition and it is a great resource
