- The animation is very good & detailed. The story has a lot of action. It is a good hero movie with a great romance. There is lot of comedy in it. The voices of some of the characters are well known so it is great to listen to them. It is quite easy to watch many times. My boys have watched it so many times that they can quote whole scenes by heart. The joy my boys have gotten from watching it has made it a worth while purchase.
DLP
- I received the movie at the time indicated it would be sent and it was in great condition. Thank you.
- I never recieved this movie...and its been a mounth and two ays since my purchase had been made. I hope amozon banns the seller from selling items because all the reviews this person recieved wer awful.
- Though this movie is great for an hour and forty five minutes of entertainment its accuracy is something from another planet. If your looking to educate your children about the gods this isn't the right movie. However, if you want a little play-off on the gods and goddesses this is perfect. Its packed with humor and adventure, perfect for any ages. If you want some fun stories to read to your child I would recomend the D'AULAIRES book of greek myths.
From a middle school student in MA.
- This movie is entertaining and has a wonderful moral lesson in the end. I bought it for my toddlers, and although it contains stimulating animation, they did not enjoy all the battles Hercules had to endure. It is a movie based on the mythical hero, but completely incorrect from an historic point of view. Maybe my kiddos will like it a bit more in a couple of years.

5 comments about Deep Impact.
- This film was totally overshadowed by Armageddon (they came out during the same summer), but is far the better movie. It lacks the unrelenting action of Armageddon (which is too much for me personally - makes me queasy), but more than makes up for it in character development and believable plot. This is a thinking person's disaster flick; it feels honest in the way the plot moves forward, rather than contrived. Definitely worth a look - if you like a bit of intelligence and believability in your sci-fi flicks, this is a great choice.
- We are very pleased. Great packaging and it arrived within stated time. This is such an awesome movie! I have watched it several times and certainly will watch it more.
- I read what David Chute had to say and he is almost completely wrong. The movie was great with remarkably developed characters, superb dialogue, and terrific acting. Robert Duvall gives a 5 star performance and the movie is certain to be one of your top 20 favorites.
Its not just some big rock hitting earth and killing a lot of people. That sort of comment should be beneath anyone who represents amazon. The truth is, the meteor is discovered about a year's travel from earth. At first, a coverup while the government decides what to do about it. The press find out (as they always do) and the world as a whole is forced to deal with the situation. The movie goes from executing three plans for survival each heart wrenchingly realistic. This isn't a silly bunch of oil diggers being sent up by NASA-- as was the case in the ridiculously far-fetched Armageddon-- this is a movie steeped in fact! Entertaining from start to finish, I highly recommend it!
- Basically the plot is about 2 meteors that are about to strike earth. Everyone panics. I especially enjoyed watching this movie. I have seen both Deep Impact and Armaggedon. I can honestly say that Deep Impact is much better than Armaggedon. Armaggedon just has people landing on a meteor then blowing it up. There's much more to Deep Impact than just that. Both movies have great effects, but Deep Impact still passes it up. The special effects are just amazing! (especially where the meteor hits the water and makes a big tidal wave) It's simply an outstanding movie. If you saw Armeggedon and liked it, then you will be even more impressed with Deep Impact!
- This film is sad. Not sad as in pathetic. Sad. I didn't cry as much as the first (and subsequent) times I saw Armageddon, which gets me no matter how many times I watch it. Ben Affleck cries - that's me. Can't handle seeing a man cry.
The difference between Armageddon and Deep Impact is that Deep Impact is a comet, and also that there's a year and a half between finding out about the comet, before something is sent up to destroy the comet. Armageddon is based over a period of 18 days? Something like that. I did feel that Deep Impact was a lot slower paced than Armageddon, and the first half of the movie is deliberately slow it seems, but then it seems all rushed towards the end.
The cast do mostly well, but not Elijah Wood. Another of my least favourite actors. He just cannot act in my opinion.
There's quite a few sad scenes in this including the estranged and his daughter, coming together and admitting some truths to each other, along the lines of "I stole $32 from your wallet" and "I dropped you on your head as a child". Which prompted my dad to tell me that it put me on his shoulders (when I was still small enough to do that) and smacked my head off the bus stop sign. That explains all my problems. The simple scenes with Morgan Freeman (playing the president) and his moving words.
These kind of movies always get to me. I mean, what would you do if extinction was just around the corner? I think when Armageddon first came out at the cinema, I cracked up for a couple of days afterwards, thinking that something like that was going to happen for real. These films always have the same effect (Day After Tomorrow was another memorable one), although I try to push it out of my head as quickly as possible, cos I think I would go stir crazy.
I didn't really feel for any of the characters in the first half of the movie. I was basically ticking off the different ways they could die. But it's the second half the film really comes into its own. There's all the sob stories, the underage marriage, the estranged dad, etc. The marriage between Elijah and Leelee Sobieski's characters nearly broke my heart, as I felt that something was going to happen to them. But their story did feel slightly rushed, and apparently some of their scenes were left on the cutting room floor, due to poor response from test audience. How? I think the film would have benefited from more of their story.
Armageddon will probably always overshadow Deep Impact in terms of storyline, effects and big name stars. And although I love Armageddon (I've seen it so many times), Deep Impact, apart from the very slow start, was still good. I'll heartily disagree with all the bad reviews. Switch your brain off and watch.

- This animated short tells a lovely story of belonging and the power of music that is appealing to all ages six and over. A bonus is the setting in New York City's subways.
- This movie is great for all ages. If you enjoy the movie try reading the book.
- This is a great video. My three year old loves it and takes it to her day-care to share with her friends there. It's a wonderful story and the art is adorable. Of course, I love it too, and remember it well from my own childhood. Still a joy to watch.
- I am a teacher who reads this book to my class every year. I show the movie and this is a terrible version. They leave out almost the whole story, and change the rest. It is such a great book and I think they could have done a better job on the video. I am always hoping a newer and better version is made.
- This is a truly beautiful short film. If you ignore the book and just enjoy it for what it is, you'll see how marvelous it is.

5 comments about Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
- Although this movie has a weird title, this movie is a side-splitter. I watched it one night while I was trying to go to sleep & ended up watching the whole thing. It's a must see!!!
- B movie cult clasic about just what it says, an attack of killer tomatoes!!
I guess ya just had to be there!!! LOL
- I don't understand most of these reviews here. The tomato wars actually happened. Pretending this was all just some lame "movie" does not bode well for the future of big business in America. Let's learn from history people, lest we be doomed to repeat it. Think!
- I bought this for a walk down memory lane for my husband's birthday. He saw this movie when he was a teenager, and remembered the theme song, and sings it often. Nostalgia was so much better than the movie. I really regret buying the DVD because he remembered loving the movie, but reality sunk in hard and his memories were shattered with each ridiculous scene.
So...keep your memories and save your money.
- This movie is great. In fact, you have to watch it several times to catch all the humor. I'm sure the movie only cost $25,000 to produce as the special effects are laughable; I'm sure it was intended that way. We've seen this movie several times and still catch things we didn't see the other times. Just a silly funny movie.

3 comments about RED DWARF, Series IV, Byte One ~ 1991 Programs (Camille / DNA / Justice).
- Camille is quite hilarious and highly recommended. It's a knock-off of Casablanca as only the boys from the dwarf could do!
- As with all Red Dwarf titles, this video can be watched for hours on end without bordom being a problem. Kryten, lister, Rimmer and 'The Cat' will have you laughing incontrollably. Series 4 is one of the best series of the 8 Red Dwarf series, so go ahead and get this brilliant video!
- I am a huge fan of Red Dwarf and bought the entire set in one purchase after seeing a few random episodes on PBS. One of the episodes I saw on PBS was "Camille," and I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever seen at the time. Upon watching the rest of the episodes, I would have to say that this is actually one of the weaker tapes overall. That is not to say that it is not worth buying, though, because it certainly is.
"Camille" is basically the Dwarfers take on Casablanca, with fewer laughs than most episodes. The second episode is "DNA", in which the crew finds a device that can rewrite DNA to turn anything into anything else. They accidentally make a giant curry-monster. Pretty funny, but I never really got into the curry humor in Red Dwarf. The final episode is "Justice", in which the gang visits Justice World, and Rimmer is sentenced to quite few years of imprisonment. Again, there is nothing specifically bad about these episodes that I can point out, but there just aren't as many laughs as in the other episodes. Still well worth buying, though.

5 comments about Godzilla: King of Monsters.
- This is an incredible movie. The look and feel of the movie is just as good as if it were today. No really big special fx needed to make this story great. Having Burr added to the movie in the American movie made it even better, I don't think his presence hurt the movie at all. Incredible movie.
The menu screen is cool.
- If you enjoy Godzilla movies, and I do, then this is a must have. I have not seen the restored original but I hope to do so soon. What makes this so well done is the cutting and editing that was done to make Raymond Burr's character actually part of the movie. This was the version I saw as a kid in the theatre on a Saturday afternoon and I still love it. Give yourself a treat and watch it.
- I can recall the awe I felt when seeing "Godzilla" for the first time as a young child; I had nightmares about the giant beast walking through the streets of my neighborhood. I dreamt I was hiding from the stomping feet of the great lizard. Of course, I didn't really know what good filmmaking was in those days.
The one good thing about any version of the original Godzilla is the amazing roar the creature produced - is there anything else like it? Who could forget the great blast of sound that shook an entire city, and became the legendary voice of the great beast? Whether one likes the Godzilla films or not, all know that sound...
The Americanized version of "Godzilla" seems to suck the life right out of the film. Raymond Burr's inserted scenes mostly consist of reaction shots with a blank look on his face - and there are many of them. Then there is the obvious difference in film stock quality: the original Japanese scenes are grayer and of poor quality, the American scenes of far better quality. The English dubbing for the Japanese characters is plain laughable; it is clear they are not really talking about the same thing the dubbing indicates! Due to this fact, many scenes in the film seem to make no sense whatsoever.
I recently saw the film on the AMC cable channel, and found myself wishing I could see the original version in Japanese with subtitles - fortunately a restored DVD with both the Raymond Burr scenes and the original Japanese version will soon be available. At last, Godzilla will be seen the way he should be.
Alas, 3 stars is all I can muster for the butchered American version of this classic.
- Allthough the American version of "Gojira" is not quite as good as the original Japanese version, give Raymond Burr credit for doing a pretty job of not only his narration during the course of the film, but for his portrayal of United World News reporter Steve Martin as well. Sure, people may think that the American version of this film is not quite as good, but I think the American version does alright.
Nonetheless, the special effects for this film are very good and after seeing this film for the first time, it scared me out of my socks. I also became a huge Godzilla fan because of this movie. "Godzilla, King of the Monsters," as it is known in the USA, or "Gojira," as Japanese fans know this movie, are both good. Purchase the Japanese and American versions of this cult classic and judge them for yourself.
- IN A NUTSHELL: GIANT DINOSAUR BORN FROM RADIATION GOES AMUCK IN TOKYO
Forget about objectivity here -- you either love seeing this film or you can't understand how anyone can sit through it!
WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT: FRANKENSTEIN CAME FROM ELECTRICITY & GODZILLA FROM ATOMIC FALLOUT
Somehow, because of nuclear testing in the eastern Pacific ocean, a giant mutant lizard suddenly appeared in 1955. His name was Godzilla and somehow he has survived more remakes than any other monster in history. A sort of 20th-century 'Frankenstein' who came to us, again, from our own foolish meddling. For Frankenstein, a product of the 19th century, it was electricity. In 1955 and thereafter, it was nuclear testing that brought us 'Godzilla'.
SO WHAT HAPPENS: [PLOT SPOILERS BELOW]
Godzilla suddenly appears in the eastern Pacific ocean and heads very quickly for Tokyo, without apparent motivation. We are fortunate to have Raymond Burr added to this, the American release edition of 'Godzilla - King of the Monsters'. Burr is the venerable Steve Martin, who enters the scene as a possible witness of one of Godzilla's earlier appearances. Martin was a passenger on an airliner when the attack occurred below in the ocean, but though he saw nothing, Steve Martin became our man-on-the-scene for the rest of the film. It was through his eyes that we [the American audience] saw most of the film. The Japanese release is reputed to have not included this entire storyline and Raymond Burr is absent completely, but that is not relevant here.
Anyway, we see Godzilla attack Tokyo, first just the 'dock section' on the first day's attack, but he returns to ruin Tokyo the next night. Rather gruesome images depicting Godzilla's second night in Tokyo actually look like they were taken at Hiroshima in 1945. In any event, Godzilla seems to be setting a pattern of coming by night and leaving the city ablaze as he exits into Tokyo Bay.
This pattern leads us to the solution to Godzilla -- the 'Oxygen Destroyer'. There are some ethical concerns over the use of the 'Oxygen Destroyer,' which seems to hint at the ethical issues over using the atomic bombs in Japan in 1945. It is a high point in the story, because it creates a dilemma over using massive power, and in so doing, letting the genie-out-of-the-bottle, so to speak.
IN THE END:
We believe at the end of the film that Godzilla is history. After all, we saw him turn into a skeleton and then disintegrate further into nothing amid the agitated bubbles created by the Oxygen Destroyer. But is Godzilla really dead? Are there other Godzilla-like mutations out there, as suggested at the end of 'Rodan'?
Raymond Burr - Steve Martin
Takashi Shimura - Dr. Kyohei Yamane
Momoko Kochi - Emiko Yamane
Akira Takarada - Hideto Ogata
Akihiko Hirata - Daisuke Serizawa
Sachio Sakai - Hagiwara
ABOUT THIS VIDEO EDITION: REMASTERED VHS
This edition plays better than any I have had. It plays on the SP [long-playing mode], it is Re-Mastered, and it has a long documentary and a photo gallery too. This description seems like it's for a DVD, but it is a VHS, and I have enjoyed it many times over the past 5 years.
BOTTOM LINE: THE KING OF ALL DINOSAUR-RUN-AMUCK FILMS
This is not a modern film and nothing here looks real in the way of special effects. Nevertheless, there is something very genuine and real about both the story that is being told and the monster. I first saw this film around 1960 and I have always felt that same awe toward the story, the monster, and the complete and admirable lack of pretentiousness throughout the film.

- A nice Irish movie with great landscape views and a wonderful story about a sea creature. I liked the down-home work ethic but found the ending a little confusing.
- This is a wonferful, sweet movie. It shows a life that i wish i could live. Now a days no one wants to take their time and belive in some thing that is a bit questionable.Take time, watch the movie and pretend it's real.
- I have never been to Ireland. My grandfather lived on the East Coast of Ireland prior to emigrating to Boston. I can just imagine him pushing his boat into the water and fishing for himself and his family. They may have relied on the sea for their survival as did the family in this movie. Moving off their island to survive was more than an emotional hardship. The wishing to return to their island, their home, was not just a dream anymore. Home meant their own island, their family, their livelihood as before. There is no place like home and this movie captures that.
- This is an ageless mystery in the setting of the hauntingly stark, yet beautiful costal islands surrounded by mist. It is a story of loss, defeat and in a most amazing way, a family is drawn to the mist once more.
The music and photography are truly beautiful and the songs will stay in your heart! Anyone can view this movie and enjoy the story.
- I first saw this movie many years ago and it has not lost any of it's myth and magic. A sweet story, as only an Irish story can be with a happy ending - yet you wonder what is going to happen to all concerned next.

5 comments about X-Men - Beyond Good and Evil - Special Edition.
- This is one of the greatest X-Men series of all time. It is about Sinister and Apacalypse kidnapping Phoenix, Xavier, and other psycics so he can create a universe of his own. It brings in classic characters such as Cable, Archangel, Magneto, and introduces Psylocke to the series!
- IN MY OPINION THIS IS THE VERY BEST X-MEN SERIES TO DATE. IT CONTAINS ONE OF THE MOST MASSIVE STORYLINES WITHIN THE X-MEN UNIVERSE. ALMOST ALL OF YOUR FAVORITE VILLAINS AND HEROES APPEAR IN THIS CLASSIC OF CLASSICS. X-MEN FANS WILL BE MORE THAN PLEASED WITH THIS ONE. DO NOT SKIP OVER THIS ONE.
- First of all, I expected a better story. The plot stunk. The character of Pylocke was messed up, they didn't get her character right. They didn't even get the orginal voice for Magneto, they had a different guy. Apocalypse's plan was pretty stupid, he wanted to play God - he is a jerk. Wolverine and Sabretooth's fights should have been more realistic to their character's - they locked each other in a small room to fight and when they came out, there was no scraches or blood on either of them, when really they would both be a bloody mess. The Professor is standing at the end of the episode, when he can't do that. I really can't stand this episode, it is the worst one ever made. If I were you I would go buy any other episode but this. Don't waste your money !
- These four episodes, are definitly my favorites. The mixture of characters is amazing including Cable, Archangel, Bishop, Gladiator, Magneto, Wolverine, Mystic, Apolcalypse, Mr. Sinister with his thugs, and all the classic X-men. The fights are good, but the story is amazing. It is all about time travel and the possibilities of the complete elimination of all good or evil. We do learn that neither of these can fully be eliminated (Beast's theory), but some evil can be converted to good. There is a part with Wolverine and Magneto that will make you appreciate all the things that have ever been done for you. These episodes are incredible. You must watch them. They clue into the future of mutants on earth (new relationships and a change of power). No X-men fan should live without seeing these episodes
- The best serie of the X-Men.I just wish that Apocalypse and Gladiator would have a fight and i know that Apocalypse would smashed him easily. If that amazing story would be in movie,it would be the greatest science movie of all time and of the greatest in all genre. But that will never happen. And Apocalypse someday must rule the universe and he canot be destroyed,he is forever.

5 comments about Star Trek: The Movie Collection (6pc).
- I'm not sure why some people are saying there are no special features. Each movie has a second disc with bonus features. My complaint here is with the packaging. These are not the same versions you would get if you bought them separately. You get very cheap plastic cases, the inserts are missing, and the discs themselves have plain silver printing instead of nice full color artwork. Overall, they feel like cheap bootleg versions. The worst part is that this set is slightly more expensive than buying the movies individually. Avoid this boxed set and just buy the movies separately.
- i received this before they said i would, it was packed great and all the disks are in great quality
- I purchased this set for my husband for his recent birthday. He is probably the biggest fan ever. He was thrilled to receive it and my son and he enjoyed watching the movies and spending some quality time together.
- Here are a few quick notes on each movie in this collection to let you know what to expect, as well as a ranking on a five-star scale:
Star Trek: The Motion Picture: An interesting plot, but takes itself too seriously to be a fun film. (***)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: Very emotional drama, character development, and intense action make this a solid film in step with the original Star Trek "cannon". (*****)
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock: What the film lacks in overall plot it makes up for in emotional tension. (****)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home: A comedic genius; light-hearted all around and full of laughs. (*****)
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier: The "search for God" plot proves to be unfruitful, while the main villain does not create credible tension. (**)
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country: A sort of futuristic re-telling of the United States/Russia relationship that hits all the right buttons to create high drama. (*****)
- Being a fan of the original Star Trek TV series, I found this set very enjoyable.
