5 comments about Smallville - The Complete Sixth Season.
  1. The boxed set I received is in Great condition and I am very happy with this purchase.

  2. While Smallville is a great show this season was, in general, at best mediocre and at worst horrible retreads. If it wasn't for the retread factor I would worry that the writers never watched the previous seasons, but it seems they did and just ignored it. Characters reverted to previous seasons incarnations. Character developments were scrapped totally. So on and so forth. This season makes the fourth look like high art and that season had the worst plotline ever, next to Buffy's season 4, oddly enough.

But there are highlights. Michael Rosenbaum, Alison Mack and John Glover all bring the goods. And Justin Hartley was also a nice breath of fresh air, although the superhero outfit looked wicked bad. Tom Welling did the best he could with the material he was given. As for Kristen Kreuk? Yikes. I cant really blame her either, the writers seem to really have no idea what to do with her and every time they go a direction they get scared and run back to "girl next door/craps golden eggs" base, which doesn't gel with anything really.

I await season 7 on dvd as I haven't seen it yet, but from what I hear season 6 might become my second least favorite season after that.

  3. We always get just what we order from amazon.com. We have never had any problems getting the products that are advertised. We always look at amazon first before shopping the retail chains.

  4. Being a devoted Smallville, I was not disappointed. I really enjoy the introduction of new characters. Smallville is a fun show to watch and the casting of characters is very well done.

  5. Thanks for a perfect product from a perfect seller, excellent shipping, everything was perfect. Thank You

5 comments about Psycho (Special Edition) (Universal Legacy Series).
  1. Psycho is a classic. But my gripe is with the way Amazon takes the entire cast list, orders them in alphabetical order, then lists the first few actors from that list. And they tend to do this for a lot of movies here, not just this one.

So in this case the "stars" of the film are Frank Albertson, Martin Balsam, Francis de Sales, and George Eldredge (as listed when you search Movies and TV for the film). And according to IMDB the last two were uncredited! Nice going, Amazon.

  2. While i dont like the "slasher" films that i see coming out these days, I found the archtypal slasher film "Psycho" to be quite good. A few complaints aside, i can see why the film is considered a classic. Im actually quite new to Hitchcock's films but i quickly took notice to his signiture style. The film builds tension extremely well. The muisc is key in developing this. Even in scenes where the dialouge seems innocent enough the music made me apprehensive to what would come next. Hitchcock's unique cinematography is appealing to me as well. I think my favorite aspect of the film is Anthony Perkins' acting. He pulles off both sides of Norman Bates' dual personality extremely well. My only qualms with the film was that it was hard for me to follow Marrion's "motivation". In other words i didn't realize her intentions to steal the money untill she met Bates. Also, i think the psychiatrist gave to much information away at the end, taking away all the mystery that Hitchcock had so masterfully built throughout the film.

  3. How I envy those who saw "Psycho" when it was originally released in the theatres in 1960. How shocking it must have been for them to learn the true identity of the serial killer. To this day, "Psycho" continues to frighten even the most jaded of horror fans. It has influenced directors around the world for decades. It established the blueprint of what would later be called the "slasher flick." It gave birth to countess imitations throughout the sixties such as "Dementia 13" and "Paranoiac." Three sequels were made. Despite it being a low budget production, it earned millions at the box office. It is no wonder that my favorite web site for historical horror, The Terror Trap, lists "Psycho" in its top ten horror movies of all time. It is a masterpiece of gothic horror.

Having the world famous director, Alfred Hitchcock, didn't hurt "Psycho." Theatre patrons saw it for that reason alone. Let's not forget that it also boasted a beautiful cast that included Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, John Gavin, and Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. "Psycho" "Norman Bates," and "Bates Motel" became household terms. They became the fodder of innumerable jokes and cartoons throughout the media world. One of my favorite Far Side cartoons is the one where Norman Bates introduces Elvis to his mother. The caption reads somewhat: "What really happened to Elvis." Only in Far Side could two legends be brought together. In the hit comedy, "National Lampoon's Family Vacation," Chevy Chase pretends to stab his wife in the shower in "Psycho"-style fashion.

It was "Psycho" that made me fear large, abandoned houses, especially on Halloween night. At the same time, I was also drawn to them with a perverse, morbid curiosity. Numerous haunted houses at amusement parks were designed to be replicas of that old, decaying, fog enshrouded house on the hill.

The characters in "Psycho" feel trapped. Many of us feel that we are trapped in worlds that are not of our own design. How many times have you wanted to quit your job, withdraw all your money from the bank, and flee? Just run and keep on running? I know I've wanted to escape from the tedium of a nine to five job. Poor Marion does just that. She steals $40,000 (a small fortune in 1960) and runs to her lover. Unfortunately, she never makes it to him because she meets Norman Bates who is also trapped in his own world. He can not leave his overbearing, dominant mother. How many of us are trapped in loveless, abusive relationships?

Who can forget the creepy music that accompanied each killing? And the world famous shower scene that was imitated in countless movies? Instead of a shower stall, it is an elevator that Brian De Palma uses in his slasher film "Dressed To Kill," starring Angie Dickinson and Michael Caine. Even the Italians imitated the shower scene in their world famous gialli (murder mystery). A young girl is stabbed to death in the shower in Sergio Martino's "The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh." Also, a girl is stabbed to death in an elevator in "The Case of the Bloody Iris."

"Psycho" is recommended viewing for all horror fans. It is the granddaddy of slasher fare. Other groundbreaking horror movies include: "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Halloween," "Friday 13th," "Suspiria," "Rosemary's Baby," "The Omen," "Black Christmas," "Carrie," and "The Exorcist." They all belong in the collection of anyone who loves good horror fare.

  4. No dispute that Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" is a masterpiece. No argument that Bernard Herrmann's score is also brilliant, iconic. BUT, in searching here on Amazon I found this alternate music soundtrack by this group called JoKr. I was listening to the mp3's on their page on Amazon here, and it's pretty cool. It sort of reminds me of that old stoner thing they say you can do with Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wizard of Oz." The name of the 2 disc album is "PSYCHOsync." Check it out!

5 comments about Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The Complete First Season [Blu-ray].
  1. Ya know I bought this serries on Blu Ray not knowing what I was getting. After the first episode I was hooked!!!!! I mean really hooked!!! I sat in my recliner for the full 392 minutes. Need I say more!!!

  2. This show is excellent. Many of us, I'm sure, were hesitant to see an Arnold-less Terminator TV show, with a new actress filling the shoes of the iconic Sarah Connor, after being immortalized by Linda Hamilton. Well, as both a long time Terminator fan, and someone who is very picky about which TV shows they watch, I can safely say that this show delivers the goods in ways I couldn't have imagined.

The cast for this show is excellent. The producers wisely opted not to simply cast Sarah Connor based on how well the actress resembled Hamilton, but by how well she portrayed the character. Lena Headey is friggin' close to perfect for the role, and that was something that I was not expecting at all when I first found out they were making the show. Thomas Dekker as John Connor bears a stronger resemblance to his Terminator 2 counterpart, but more importantly he fills the role very well. Given that the Connors are the only Terminator 2 veterans who appear regularly in the series, it was fundamental to the show's success that they cast them properly, and thankfully they did.

The real show stealer though, is Summer Glau as the new character "Cameron." She's John's new cyborg protector from the future, and it's no surprise that she is rapidly becoming a fan favorite. The role of Cameron is much more complicated than simply an emotionless robot, because she's more than a regular Terminator, as the series slowly reveals. She's a machine that is slowly becoming more human-like, and Summer Glau is the perfect actress to convey both aspects of Cameron's personality. She's definitely one of my favorite aspects of the show, and I can't wait to see how she develops in future episodes.

The writing in the show is well done too. There are a few continuity errors in some episodes that you may or may not pick up on depending on how closely you pay attention, but those aren't really what's important. What is important is that the story actually makes you care about the characters, and eager to find out what happens next. Sometimes I would literally throw things at my TV when a commercial break started just because I was so hooked. They did an excellent job selling that these are the same John and Sarah Connor from Terminator 2, but the writers now have the opportunity to expand their characters a lot further than was possible in a 2.5 hour long movie.

If you are a Terminator fan, you owe it to youself to buy this set. The visual quality for the Blue-Ray is amazing, and it even comes with a slightly extended cut of the pilot, and a greatly extended cut of one of the later episodes that sheds even more light on Sarah Connor's character. I am addicted to this show.

  3. Usually, movie-inspired TV shows are like their video game counterparts, i.e. a cheap means of conning unwary viewers/buyers. Occasionally, we are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the work. Buffy comes to mind. And now, Sarah Connor Chronicles has the potential to do it as well.

The writing is superb. The acting is generally above par. The special effects are not major motion picture caliber but serviceable. Only the young John Connor is a little weak. Lena Headey's physique also compares unfavorably against Linda Hamilton in Judgment Day, but these are minor issues easy to overlook. Let's just hope that the series does not suffer a second season collapse a la Heroes.

  4. I did not see the first season on TV but had seen the pilot when it was reshown and it interested me enough to see what I had missed, so when the disks came out I ordered them and I am glad I did.

This is a very entertaining series at least as good as the movies and better than most shows on TV today.

If you liked the movies or just a good entertaining series, with good plot line, interesting characters and just plain good watching. Get this.

  5. Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] Great performances and lots of fun. If you enjoy the Terminator movies give this a shot. Lena Headey in this series gives Linda Hamilton a run for her money as the mother trying to protect her only child from termination. Summer Glau is great as a Terminator. Don't miss this show but you must see it on Blu Ray to get the full effect.

5 comments about Halloweentown High.

  1. This is an enjoyable movie. This was the last one we needed to have our Halloweentown collection made complete. There are 4 total. We enjoy watching these movies as a family no matter what time of the year!

  2. A movie the family can enjoy. The Halloweentown movies are all wonderful family movies.Great to be watched around Halloween.Fun to be watched anytime.

  3. Family Entertainment - Fun, Funny, Enjoyed. Age appropriate.
New Condition As Promised. Price was right.

  4. This is a good movie if you like magic. I own the entire series & this is good for the entire family.

  5. I personally am a Halloweentown fan and love all of the movies. I loved Halloweentown and the sequel a lot. I actually liked Halloweentown better than the sequel as Kal casts the grey spell and turns everything of halloweentown and everyone grey and boring and Aggy and Marni try to stop it. My favorite part was when, they defeated Kal and they could open the portal and get back into the mortal world. A great ending.

Then there's halloweentown II. I found that it wasn't as great as Halloweentown, but I loved it. I like it 'cause it's not too scary that you're tempted to turn it off. It contains some scariness, magic use, comedy and fun activity! Both Halloweentown and the sequel contained these features.

Next comes Halloweentown High. Marni moves on to High School, as well as her brother. Aggy then brings some halloweentown creatures to the Highschool in the mortal world. I like this movie 99 percent, Halloweentown II, 100 percent, Halloweentown, 110 percent. I will say, Halloweentown 1 and 2 pretty much stole it! Halloweentown High had great features, but it wasn't as warm, sweet and as much of a good story as the first 2 movies had. Still, I was very proud with it and enjoy it very, very, very much. But Halloweentown 1 and 2 still were by 3-4 percent better.

Also there's Return to Halloweentown without Kimberly J. Brown - but with Sara Paxton, the great actress.
This movie was actually my third favorite of the four halloweentown movies. Halloweentown 1, 2 and Return to Halloweentown are my three favorites. Halloweentown 1 goes in first place, the sequel goes in second place, and Return to Halloweentown is in third. Halloweentown High is in fourth.
The reason why I like Return to Halloweentown so much is because, Marni is now moving on to College and learning more, facing more and it's getting even more challenging. She tries her hardest to face them by getting the powerful necklace from her Grandma when she was her age (or older) when she goes back in time in Halloweentown. In the end, the awful spell that was casted - was now un-casted and it sailed right into a very happy ending.
A lot of scary, funny, magic, thrilling things throughout the whole entire movie. Great for family halloween parties or events/get-togethers as a nice movie with popcorn, leftover candy from Trick-or-Treating and apple cider.

All four of the Halloweentown movies have thrilled me so much. I keep watching them over and over. They are so fun to watch on halloween or any time! It is the best Disney Halloween movie ever made! I encourage you SO MUCH to buy every one of the Halloweentown movies. You'll never get tired of these halloween-favorites!

5 comments about Batman Begins (Widescreen Edition).
  1. A dark study into the working of the mind of Batman, Different than any other Batmanmovie.
Everyone has a dark side even him that balances them as a real person, not just a one sided figure. Well made, written and acted.

  2. ...but that's a good thing. An excellent, dark viewpoint of how Batman got a start. Better than Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney combined.

  3. Really great movie. You will love it even if you aren't into the whole "batman" thing, as it has a sense of realism. Definitely recommended.

  4. Sorry, I did not see this movie. It was a gift. The service was very good.Fast delivery and product was new as promised.

  5. Blu-ray owners finally got their wish, "Batman Begins" comes to the format. It looks great and Dolby TrueHD soundtrack rumbles with clarity. Watching and listening to the 'Tumbler' in action is amazing.

BUY IT!!! You will not be disappointed.

Plus...the blu-ray gets "The Dark Knight" Prologue, the first 6 minutes of possibly the best movie of all time.

  1. I ordered this set before they revealed their choice for the four movies, and I am so BEYOND thrilled and excited, I can't even tell you!
Future War is one of the most hilarious, AWFUL, fantastic episodes the team ever did, and I have been crossing all my fingers and toes that they would release it some day.
And to top that off, a movie with Joe Estevez? Is it my birthday? How did they know?
I love you, MST3K team. And I love whomever we have to blame for this set!

  2. messrs. nelson, mallon, and murphy are too damned talented and funny not to be working. with all the mediocrity that passes for humor these days, we need these guys more than ever.
as the film crew they did good work; so i'm begging; please shout!factory,
contract these three to cheese more bad movies. you'd be doing a great service to us consumers who appreciate intelligent humor.also, there will never be a shortage of bad movies. each new year provides more and more dreck that needs a good cheesing.a good example would be spielberg's remake of 'war of the worlds.' that movie just begs for nelson, mallon and murphy.
whatever, you decide shout! factory, i'll still love you for releasing the complete "freaks and geeks" box set. imo, the best dvd release ever!

  3. As a MST3K fan, i'm glad to see they are still going to continue releasing these 4 movie sets. I won't be the only one to admit that you can't get enough of this show. It IS, no doubt, one of the best shows and has one of the most loyal fan bases of any show out there. This 4-disc set features 4 GREAT episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and includes Laserblast, Werewolf, Future War, and First Spaceship on Venus. Special features include "The Oral History of MST3K" feature in three parts, 2008 Comic-Con MST3K Reunion Panel, featuring Joel Hodgson, Mike Nelson, and more, original film trailers, "Variations On A Theme Song"

Limited-edition version comes in a tin box with 4 lobby cards and a figurine of Crow T. Robot, all exclusive to this set.

    BUY IT NOW!

  4. You have to buy this just to watch "WEREWOLF", it's "absowultely incrwedabull" according to the lead actress in the film.

  5. These are 4 very good titles -- though none are my favorites. I'm particularly interested in the tin! For those MST3K fans, check out "Rifftrax", which are downloadable comment-tracks that you can synch up with popular movies. I've watched a handful and loved them.

5 comments about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Widescreen Edition).
  1. Product arrived in the order it was expected and in the condition promised. Shipping and handling fees were high.

  2. Now let me be honest from the start and say that I've only read the first 4 Harry Potter books and have never really been interested in the rest. I must also be honest and say I've only ever really been a casual fan of the films, not getting overly excited about the upcoming release, nor being somewhat ashamed of even saying "oh that looks good." I simply ended up watching Order of the Phoenix on a whim and I must say I found it very enjoyable. The combination of the hidden magic world and believable characters, really allow the film to blend into one hell of a two hour ride.

Harry's fifth year as a wizard doesn't start too well, he and Dudley are attacked by dementors which leads to Harry being expelled from Hogwarts. Through a series of random, craziness Harry discovers that Dumbledore is putting together an army to help fight Voldemorts army. The Order of the Phoenix involve the likes of Azkaban runaway Sirius Black, Godfather of Harry Potter and Sirius Black. The Ministry of Magic are the biggest problem facing the order at the moment as Dumbledore and Harry are constantly attacked in the daily prophet for spreading lies. The Ministry are in denial that the Dark Lord Voldemort is back and in order to stop the rumours, they must take Dumbledores power and remove him as Hogwarts headmaster. In his place is the old fashioned and quite evil Professor Delores Umbridge. She, like the ministry seems in complete denial about the dark lords return and seeks to bring order to Hogwarts. Harry on the other hand decides he must take teaching into his own hands and puts together his own army of students and prepares them for the impending war.

I have to be honest and say Radcliffe has once again really pulled it off as a genuine actor. Although the Harry Potter label will stick with him forever, he continues to display genuine acting talent within the role. The supporting best friends of Emma Watson (Hermione) & Rupert Grint (Ron) provide the general emotional guidance that helps keep Harry going. Personally I found the Delores Umbridge character to be the more intimidating of characters from this year, she has the ability of being a bit too sweet giving the image that you know there's something more going on. She demands order, she wants peace without possibility of injury so she bans all magic in the classroom and insists all theory work is the correct way to teach wizardry. Well played part by Imelda Staunton.

The special effects are as usual astonishing, they allow the truly magical Potter world to come alive. The Centaurs, Giants and general magical fights can only be done through the magic of computer animation and are simply flawless. There wasn't a single moment where I spotted a faulty special effect with which I could say "that's done by computers." If it did have that effect on someone then there's no denying it would have ruined the entire effect of the film.

I do want to point something out and it's something that has been talked about time and time again. It's the darkness of the film, for a book aimed at kids the stories tend to get more and more adult as time progresses. This is a good thing for the older fan of the books, but isn't something I would really say should be seen by kids as they would possibly find it a bit terrifying. It's an amazing, honest and enjoyable picture that although there will be the complaints of cutting down too much from the book, I have no doubt that it's still a film the loyal book fans will thoroughly enjoy.

  4. People might say that they ripped to book since they left out a whole lot. But I loved what they put it, especially the ending. The ending made the movie.

  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was a great movie. Even the special features are subtitled which is great for deaf folks like me.

5 comments about The Shining (Two-Disc Special Edition).
  1. The Shining (1980) is in every way an epic horror classic that really just gets under your skin. It's not only one of the best horror films ever, but also one of the best noteworthy flicks of 1980. I won't get into the plot too much as I'm sure by now it is no mystery to anyone. But I will share my feelings on it and what the impact of watching it is like. The Shining could almost be called a cinematic perfect storm with so many factors combining together that worked out so advantageously.

The first is Stephen King's novella, which this adaptation is one of the few to actually do justice to, the second is director Stanley Kubrick's masterful vision and the third, of course, is Jack Nicholson's frighteningly intense, tour-de-force performance that will scare the S#*% out of you! Ordinarily in most of his movies, it's fun to watch the always larger-than-life Jack chew scenery, but here in The Shining it's much more likely to scare than amuse you. I can only imagine how unnerving it must have been the crew on set during filming with Jack when he was in character and if they were ever worried if he would know when to break it between takes! Also, the son's repeated, high-pitched screaming of redrum (murder spelled backwards, as we all know) is pretty disturbing and scary as well.

Thanks largely in part due to a very creepy musical score and a remote, snowbound Colorado location at the resort, an overall sensation of forlorn dread and isolation permeates this film, which only further amplifies the terror factor. All of this combined with nightmarish, haunted hotel imagery, ghoulish apparitions and setting make for a pretty damn scary cinematic experience. Almost 30 years later, this horror epic still packs a potent punch. Definitely one that stays with you and one you don't want to ideally watch by yourself!

Even as an adult, to this day and beyond, this movie still gives me the creeps.

  2. It looks GREAT! After seeing it a million times on DVD, this is just beautiful. You won't believe how the hotel looks-at least when you use the PS3 to watch it.

  3. Finally available in the anamorphic widescreen format in sparkling Blu Ray!!! The picture is crisp and smooth almost 3-D!!! The same goes for the sound, simply amazing!!! It looks and sounds even better than the 2001 remastered DVD which looked incredible as well, but this one is even better in every way!!! There are a 3 new featurettes and the classic Making Of The Shining documentary(this was included on the original DVD's as well!) that was direced by Kubricks daughter Vivian(there is also a optional audio commentary by her as well, actually her commentary is much more enjoyable than the new feature commentary included with this new release!!!) The classic "blood from the elevator" teaser trailer is also included!!! A very recomended Blu Ray Disc!!! A Clockwork Orange is also another great Blu-Ray from Warner!!!,Blu's of 2001 and Full Metal Jacket are next on my wish list!!! Lets hope that other Kubrick classics Dr. Strangelove,Paths Of Glory,The Killing,Sparticus(it did get a HD DVD release no Blu,that was a real bummer!),etc will get the royal "Blu" treatment!!! A+

  4. The Shining strikes me as one of only three Stephen King adaptations that are completely successful, the others being Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption. Unlike that other film, The Shining was from the start in for a substantial makeover, in this case by Stanley Kubrick and his co-screenwriter Diane Johnson. For this reason, the film has never really pleased many fans of the original book who believe that films must be faithfully and accurately transcribed to screen in order to be considered a successful adaptation.

Watching The Shining today, what strikes me are the incredibly elegant sets, the almost complete lack of special effects (one trick shot of the hedge maze notwithstanding), the stunning cinematography and the tricky tone the film manages to maintain between horror film, domestic drama and very black comedy. There are scenes in the film that never fail to make me laugh and others that give one the appropriate creepy frisson expected of a horror film.

The film takes a distinctly more psychological approach than the novel. While the hotel does appear to be truly haunted in the film (Danny sees ghosts, Jack appears in the portrait in the final shot, etc.), it's also possible to read all of the scenes between Jack and Lloyd (the bartendner) or the Grady (the former caretaker) as the delusions of an alcoholic having a breakdown. Certainly, the subtext is at the very least made quite clear. Oddly, the one scene in the film that I recall making clear beyond question that the supernatural is at work (when the ghost of Grady opens the storage locker door to release Jack) is actually more ambivalent than I remembered. Jack speaks to Grady through the door and we simply hear the door being unlocked while the camera remains on Jack's face...the next time we see him he is hacking away at the bedroom door with an Axe. Perhaps he used the axe to bust open the locker door himself? In any event, Nicholson is great in the film, perhaps his finest hour along with One Flew Over the Cuckoos Next.

I can't wait to visit The Overloook Hotel in Blu-Ray...

  5. I'm woefully underqualified to review a master classic movie like this. I watched it for the first time in 2008, and it is not dated in the least. It managed to scare, thrill and keep me glued to the screen. Excellent story, characters, scenery, just about everything. A classic horror film.

  1. Project Greenlight 3 winner John Gulager's campy horror flick Feast was released in a handful of midnight screenings in 2005 before heading to DVD where it picked up cult classic status, prompting the studio to throw a back-to-back deal (not to mention buckets of more money) at the team for the sequel and third installment of the trilogy. Shot in 2007 on location, Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds (released today on DVD) and Feast 3: Happy Ending (coming in 2009) boast a larger cast of even more unknowns than the first (Jenny Wade is the biggest star, returning to lead a truckload in this "war"), more blood, more gore, and more chance to see the monster-villains on-screen... unfortunately all that excess proves to just be superfluous. Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds suffers from the lack of imagination, creativity, and ingenuity with which the first of the series soared to success; Feast 2 lacks the heart of the independent story it once was, proving once again that the extra money and inflated egos of studio films can kill a franchise.

Randy (Jamie Kennedy) from Wes Craven's Scream once said that in trilogies "all bets are off." Since the series has a clear-cut end, certain characters-- even the leads-- don't have to be kept alive for countless resurrections down the road. It seems Gulager took this advice to heart with Feast 2, opening on the morning after the initial attack in a town nearby where the creatures are now invading a whole new group of people. He throws the picture he painted in Feast out the window not only by ignoring what happened to the car of survivors that took off at dawn (Balthazar Getty must have been too busy with his TV drama and his real life personal drama to return his calls, and his working relationship with Krista Allen was definitely not positive enough to warrant her return) but also by deeming some events and their subsequent title cards false by having a character or two "not be dead after all" (I love Judah Friedlander more than the next girl, but his death was awesome, and his reemergence compromises the rules Feast set forth). A cop out way just to fill the cast with your friends and family, if you ask me, and isn't that what the studio was trying to avoid the first time around? Feast's dollar success was not great enough to allow the granting of complete power to a still-green director who, judging by the auteurship of this film, will most likely have to head back to the world of wedding videos come 2010.
What was so clever and refreshing about Feast was how Gulager made the most of what he had. He wasn't given all the fanciest FX equipment or the biggest budget for CGI. He made an old-school monster movie, with puppeteers on set, steering the hand-crafted rubber beings. He sprayed plenty of blood on his actors and the camera lens, but first and foremost, he crafted well-developed characters and dialogue, using the carnage as a visual aid, but not relying on it to carry the film. Feast 2, however, speaks to the lowest common denominator, as if everything about the filmmaking process was rushed. Between visual gags, toilet humor, and cheap costumes (seeing more of the monsters just showed the dudes in their latex suits), the budget may have doubled, but the production value has been cut off at the knees. There is a lot of the S16mm handheld "home movie" footage in this sequel, but unfortunately shooting such shots at night and "on the move" just provide dark, grainy, and offensive results-- not just to the filmmaker in me but also to the fan.

Actually Gulager's brand of humor has always been borderline, but in Feast 2 he takes it a bit too far, once again probably just drunk on the power of being in control. There are a lot of slapstick jokes at Martin Klebba's expense, and there is a scene with a baby that caused my jaw to hit the floor and my finger to hit the stop button on my DVD player. This film is nothing like the original, and if you are one of the few diehard supporters of the first, like me, you definitely should not ruin your opinion of the story by viewing this mess. Gulager himself should not have ruined the integrity of the story by making this mess!

  2. I was laughing the whole way through this work of art.:-@ The action and the blood just never stops! The action is so quick i know i missed a few hidden extras they throw into a scene that will make me laugh some more. Its just way over the top you have to see it! If this this movie means nothing to you, then you have no sense of humor. And if its to gory for you go watch another japanese ghost story usa remake

  3. Absolutely terrible.

I was a big fan of FEAST and couldn't comprehend how the same team made FEAST 2. The monsters are no longer scary, the effects look cheap, the acting is terrible and unless you like vile and ugly women vomiting on one another do NOT watch this movie. It's more than a waste of your 90 minutes.

Throwing this movie away was an insult to the garbage can.

  4. I'm being kind with the title actually. I found the first "Feast" to be a pretty entertaining if not overly campy, gory horror flick. This sequel is abysmal. Not one likable character. The creatures look sillier. The acting and dialogue are laughable. Skip this if you do not enjoy unintelligent inane garbage.

  5. I'll preface this review by stating I loved the original Feast...LOVED it. It was funny, the effects were very decent, it sported a somewhat known cast, it was unpredictable...just an all-around quality horror flick...

    Feast 2...
    where to begin....

I'm honestly still trying to process it all. This movie easily has my vote for the most outrageous, over the top, just straight-up ludicrous movie I have ever seen. To make a long story short...there is a scene in which one of the main characters decides he needs to dissect one of the monsters...needless to say, there is plenty of monster farts, puke, crap, and semen to go around.

Despite it's shortcomings (especially in comparison to the original), I rated Feast 2 a 3/5, almost purely on it's shock value. The baby rescue scene alone makes it worth the watch...those who have seen the movie know what I am talking about...;o)

The production value of the film is way down from the first one, but the gross outs, the gore, the shock value...is way up. If you can handle the thought of a cat being raped by one of those monsters...by all means, this is the movie for you. If you're the squeamish type, you may want to pass on this one.

Apparently Feast 3 was filmed in conjunction with this one, so look out for the next installment sometime next year. I, for one, will be checking it out.
